We were all wondering when it first came out if it were an April Fool’s joke, but it does appear that Biden is denying he proclaimed trans visibility for Easter. Now, to be sure, one must think carefully about this: the Party Line on it now is that the day has been around since 2009 and it just happened to fall on Easter…and, hey, isn’t this just as important as the observation of the resurrection? So, it might be just on that level that Biden is denying he made it happen – that he was just rote doing what you’re supposed to do on national observations that we all participate in. Because, you know, we all can’t wait for trans day of visibility to roll around each year.
That, of course, is actually damage control: someone decided that Biden and the rest of the Democrats would make a to do about trans on Easter as a malicious insult…and they thought that our outrage would get blowback that would work to Democrat advantage. When it was actually done – when the thing was in the public square – they suddenly realized how absolutely hideous it was and now they’re trying to back and fill.
My advice: forget the polls. They are going to fluctuate a bit back and forth. Carter had a 7 point lead in Gallup in April of 1980. Dukakis was down 2 in April of 1988, up 16 in May. On and on like that. This is what I think is the real dynamic of 2024: that people are just getting sick of it all. The trans on Easter thing is just another element in a large tapestry of things people just don’t like about the Biden years. The biggest thing will remain the price of gas and groceries but in all respects, just nothing is going right. That is why Democrats are now pinning their hopes on abortion: they just managed to get a pro-abortion amendment on the Florida ballot. They’ll do that in as many States as they can. Trust me on this: by September it’ll be 24/7 abortion. It did work partially in 2022. Will it work again? I doubt it. If it does then it means we never had a chance, anyway: if America returns Biden to office just to make sure children can be killed, then we’re out of the political market altogether. But outside a desperation move like that, there’s nothing Biden and the Democrats can do – any policy that would actually fix the problems they’ve created (notably reducing spending to cut inflation and closing the border to stop illegal immigration) is opposed by too large a part of the Democrat base. They are caught in a bind and can only hope that something else gets them out of it. Abortion is something else. So, too, things like trans day of visibility…but that has already backfired.
People are tired. Biden was supposed to be a placeholder. The Not Trump. He wasn’t supposed to do anything but end Covid and then let things coast until someone else got in. But they forgot he is senile – and when not senile, stupid. He isn’t running the show. He lacks the wit or will to ride herd on the far left like Obama and Clinton did. Thus the far left is setting the policy – but nobody ever voted for the far left. The more they do, the worse it gets for Biden.

I suspect, with the on-going influx of illegals, related problems become exacerbated with 1.) The rise in crime, especially high-profile crimes, 2.) Diminished job availability, 3.) Loss of housing, 4.) Extraordinary benefits given out that our poor & working class & military members don’t even get, 5.) Degraded neighborhoods, etc. These will be a major factor pushing a good many people toward Trump. While inflation will certainly be a factor, I think the fact that it has been around for a while, many people mentally normalize it as a part of life. Abortion rights and adult use marijuana are going to be on the ballot this November. Could be a game changer and could result in Florida going Blue. Abortion rights and adult use marijuana are big issues and will bring in a lot of voters who otherwise might sit the election out. Another factor is if Trump is convicted of one or more crimes. Americans aren’t as likely to vote for a felon. I hope Democrats do pull out all the stops. Biden doesn’t need to win Florida to win the election, Trump does.

Yes, there are some people on the Right still enslaved by Identity Politics, but they are fewer than on the Left, and diminishing in number because for the most part conservatives are already aware of the ideology of conservatism and supportive of it, understanding that while at different times they might not like the person currently representing it the important thing is to protect and support the model of limited federal power and authority kept closer to the states and to the people.
On the other hand, when we ask a Democrat why he voted for his candidate we get pap such as “well, like, uh, you know. like I believe in gay marriage” and further questioning gets anger at the use of the word “Leftist” and even denying that there is any such thing as “the Left”.
When one side is totally dominated by emotion (fed by a Complicit Agenda Media) and the other is motivated by an objective commitment to a specific form of government no matter who the current representative of that political model might be, all this “guessing” will come down to which side has the hysteria advantage.
The lack of self awareness of the Left never ceases to amaze. I was referring to DeSantis and Haley supporters. You might want to pay a little more attention next time. As I’ve mentioned before the point in which a fetus is considered a baby is a religious belief, one not followed by the majority of Americans. Forcing a woman to carry a baby to term regardless of how she became pregnant or the circumstances the woman can result in a lot of unwanted children. If Republicans are worried about embryos surviving perhaps they should volunteer to have them transferred to Republican women to bring to term. We have the technology to do so.
Meanwhile a number of states have Abortion amendments coming up which doesn’t look good for Republican chances.
Just this last Easter, PETA was demanding that the WH egg hunt use potatoes instead of eggs, so as not to harm the embryos. Also, CA restricts the construction of water basins as to not disturb the nesting grounds of smelt. Why do they do that? And why won’t they protect human embryo’s and nesting grounds? Mark, No one is forcing anyone to have an abortion. The women I know who chose to do so did so after a lot of thought and prayer. It wasn’t an easy choice. I also have a friend who chose not to have an abortion after she was raped. Good for her. Her choice. If Trump takes office there will be a nation wide abortion ban. Twelve year old rape victims will be forced to give birth. There have already been cases of women forced to carry a fetus to term that had no chance of survival. The majority of Americans are for women having a choice and it will cost the GOP this year.

My first wife and I had Two children and two miscarriages. My daughter and son have turned out to be wonderful human beings and some of my best memories are holding them for the first time and watching them grow up. I would literally take a bullet for either of them or my grandkids. The fetuses that didn’t survive weren’t kids. They couldn’t survive inside the womb much less outside it.

Personally I believe that a baby is a person when it can survive outside the uterus by itself. Until it is born it has the potential to be a person, just as every sperm and egg has the potential to be be a person. Point is no one is being forced to have an abortion. If you truly feel that an embryo is a person then you should be trying to find women who will volunteer to carry it to term rather than force a 12 year old to do so.

The daughter of good friends of mine at church went into labor at 23 weeks. The baby (well, I’m pretty sure it’s a baby – she looks an awful lot like a baby) weighed 1-1/2 lbs. but was breathing on her own. Now there was a lot of prayer involved, something that most Leftists don’t want to acknowledge. That was over two months ago, and the little girl (yeah “girl” – get over it) goes home from the hospital around the end of this month.
Any individual, group, or political party that treats the unborn so callously, should never be in charge of anything.

YOU believe that the identity of an unborn child depends on a religious belief, not on science. And you keep referring to how many people agree with you. Well, science is unanimous that the product of conception is human, from that moment on, so the question is when some person assumes the ability, and the right, to put a marker on the line of development of that wholly human life and declare that only on one side of that marker will they agree that it is a “baby”. Boy, talk about arrogance. It always reminds me of the temptation of the serpent—to have the knowledge of God.
And note that that marker moves a lot. It was heartbeat—-till heartbeats were detected earlier. It was feeling pain, but when even early fetuses respond to pain it wasn’t that any more. For a while it was cognizance, but then when fetuses were shown to try to avoid pain, or respond to different foods eaten by the mother that fell apart. Some still fall back on “taking a breath” but when that is your criterion and you can also prevent that from happening that is the most despicable hypocrisy.
