Rumor is that Team Biden is working with the Israeli Left to oust Netanyahu so a new, Leftist Israeli government can agree to a ceasefire which will save Hamas. For the Israeli Left, this is how to get back into office – and without the tedious need for an election that Likud might well win. For Biden, it gets Gaza off the table before the Convention so the Democrats don’t have to deal with Hamas rioters in Chicago. The primary thing here is the illustration that for the Left it is always about power – Team Biden and the Israeli Left don’t care about those who have died, nor about those who will die if Hamas is allowed to survive. They have no human feelings at all – just appetite for power (and wealth, sex and the things that go with power).

Will it work? Don’t know. Depends, in the end, how firm the Israeli people are and how much courage Netanyahu’s coalition has. We’ll see about that. But I will lay a lot of blame on Netanyahu: as I’ve been saying from Day One: celerity is crucial. Israel could never afford to drag this thing out. Unless the goal was to let Hamas survive after some severe punishment – and Netanyahu said it was about destroying Hamas – then the only way to do that was a maximum application of Israeli firepower on a tightly besieged Gaza. No supplies or people in or out; systemic, block by block destruction of every person and building in Gaza until the people of Gaza surrender unconditionally. And make no mistake about it: they would have surrendered. Probably after no more than a few weeks of that. Nobody was ever braver than the Poles in World War Two – but both in the initial invasion and during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, the Poles eventually quit after being hammered quite mercilessly by the Germans. People can endure a lot. Courage can make up for a lot of things…but after a while all you’re doing is dying with no hope of success and it is time to call it quits.

The Great Debate: far too many rumors about why now – and why it is being set for June, prior to the Convention. The only things we know for certain is that Trump has accepted and Biden will be in a soft, cuddly cocoon of MSM when it happens. I think it is a high risk gamble by a Team Biden that knows its losing.

Russia launched a surprise offensive north of Kharkov – that is, a surprise to everyone but those who can read a map.

They keep saying the offensive north of Kharkov is a feint…but I gotta say it looks to me like the Russians are going for a pretty classic double-envelopment of Ukrainian forces east of the Kharkov-Donetsk line. We’ll get a better idea as time goes on. But the problem seems to be that the Ukrainians had very limited forces up north…and apparently have a severe manpower shortage in general. In other words, if this “feint” in the north is the real thing, the Russians might find they’re punching into an empty bag. The Ukrainian forces in the east would have to retreat, or be cut off and destroyed – and if Ukraine loses a significant portion of its army, that’s game-over…it would be abject surrender. This is probably the time for the Ukrainians to ask Putin his price for a peace treaty. If it mostly entails giving up what the Russians already have, take the deal. If it is a demand for Ukraine’s destruction, then fight on and probably with more help from the West.

Peru has apparently decreed that being non-binary and the rest of that drivel is a mental illness…mostly because it is.

As I’ve said all along: live your life! Let your freak flag fly if that is what gets you through the day. As in all things, I’ll diligently work to ensure that there is no unjust discrimination against anyone for what they are or what they do. But, a guy in a dress is still a guy. Nobody is born in the wrong body. There are no trans children. Gender is immutable and it is binary. I don’t care what you do – but don’t do it to kids and don’t demand that I participate, even a little bit, in your weird, little world.

How Biden is not being impeached for his meddling in Israel’s affairs, I’ll never know. It just goes to show us how deeply entrenched the Leftist tentacles are.

Here’s my two cents, the NY jury will convict Trump, regardless that’s there is no crime, that simply doesn’t matter to them, and then Biden will use that as a cover to cancel the debate claiming he can not debate a convicted criminal. That’s why Biden is acting so tough on this issue, he knows it will never happen.

The testimony from Cohen’s ex attorney in front of Congress yesterday should end all of this, and in a normal world, it would. We are not living in a normal world

If you had predicted during the election cycle of 2016 that an action that didn’t take place take place until 2017 would end up in a trial alleging interference in that election you’d be asked the same question. Yet we have a former president of the United States on trial for a “crime” that has yet to be identified, that appears to hinge on a crystal ball reading of his motive for an action that took place after the election was over, but which is alleged to have had the intent of influencing the election.

Heard a stat yesterday that opened my eyes … 30% of teenage American girls have thought about committing suicide. IMO, a direct result of social media and effeminate men. We really have to return to normal.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona May 17, 2024 / 7:40 pm

Well, of social media anyway. I’m not sure that teenage American girls pay much attention to how effeminate so many adult men have become. But social media are very toxic and very damaging to the self-esteem of girls. Between the anonymous bullying and ridiculing and the completely unrealistic standards that are set for “acceptable” appearance girls who participate in social media are really setting themselves up to feel inferior and insignificant.

I do think younger women are wanting a return of masculine men. Men who don’t wear skinny jeans, man buns, ear rings, or who take more selfies than they do, or compete with them in sports. 30 years ago, Rush Limbaugh spoke of the “feminization of America” and I think we are there, and this can be attributed to social media too, and societies deemphasis on fatherhood.

There’s this lady I “know” on X and she posted a picture of some of the guys in the 70’s (literally could have been any of us back then); three shirtless, young men standing around a Firebird – and she lamented that we no longer have hard bodied young men trying to get into a girls pants rather than wear them. I observed that on our side we miss tube tops and short shorts. But the point is that, yes, we miss men who are men…and women who are women.

Another illustration was this video that popped up – some female semi-celebrity (I guess) right after Dobbs giving a screaming rant about how her abortion allowed her to become the (shrieking, ranting) girl boss she was…and how her stay at home husband supports her. The coda: about a year later her husband left her. There was much wrong with the world when you had to “do the right thing” when you came up pregnant young; but it was called doing the right thing because it was the right thing to do. Everyone knew the kids were getting busy…but everyone knew what you had to do if if came out certain ways. As my mom put it, you had sex with your steady at homecoming and got married after graduation…first child was (surprise, surprise!) “premature”. And the boy who didn’t do the right thing when he got his girl knocked up was socially disgraced; this also worked out to the boys and girls exercising some caution about who to date…and why a father would discourage his daughter from dating the charming rouge from “the wrong side of the tracks”.

All gone, now. Its a sexual free for all…with another girl lamenting in a video that she’s everything a guy can want but she’s terminally single. But if you listen to her you’ll see that she thinks wealth is success, diet and exercise are health and that love is a feeling, rather than an action. So, you know what the poor girl has been doing – meeting guys, having a sexual relationship with them and then when she starts wanting something permanent the guy takes off because, after all, there’s another girl just like her (and maybe prettier) who’s willing to give it up without a promise.

It is all very sad and destructive – and the forcible reestablishment of sexual morality will be painful.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona May 18, 2024 / 9:04 pm

I’ve always kind of suspected that my parents “had” to get married. We were poor, all of my relatives were poor, and even when I was very young I could tell that the news of a new pregnancy was distressing. My mother and my aunts never talked about it in front of the kids, but kids pick up on things. What I also remember very clearly is that within 2 or 3 weeks that sense of distress was gone, and my mother, or my aunt, already loved that baby.

The pro-abortionists know this. They know very well that once the first shock has passed and the woman has had time to get used to the idea she’s already started to bond with that unborn child. That’s why they push so hard for an immediate abortion when a newly frightened woman comes in. They callously prey on that original sense of fear and panic and present killing the baby as the only real sensible alternative. A few years ago, before the Colorado legislature lurched so far into the Leftist weeds, they passed a law agreeing to have the state pay for an abortion if the woman would agree to a 3-day waiting period during which she would be informed of all of the alternatives to an abortion, get a physical exam and have an ultrasound. The pro-abortion crowd went insane. You would have thought that these minor conditions were the most horrible impositions on a woman’s freedom and dignity ever heard of but what really came through was the fear that if a newly panicky girl or woman had time to sit down and think things over and get advice from calmer people who were not involved she might not kill that baby. It was immediately clear that the goal was not to help scared girls and women but to take advantage of that fear. That’s when I knew for sure that the chant of this all being about pro-“choice” was absolute BS because a
real choice is a calm decision made after evaluating all the facts. What the abortion crowd pushes is a guess based on a temporary panic situation, followed by abundant propaganda to convince this person that she did the right thing, because the last thing they need is a bunch of grief-stricken women wracked with guilt over killing their own babies. There are plenty of them, though they don’t get any publicity, because the whole narrative pushed by the Left is that abortion is a right and perfectly normal and moral and necessary for the advancement and happiness of women.

My older brother was born 8 months after my parents got married. Premature? Got busy before the starting gun? Who knows? Doesn’t really matter, now does it? As difficult as my parents were to each other – and they were; there’s a downside to brilliant people – they stuck it out from 1958 until mom’s death in 2003. I did ask dad once, after a particularly bad row, “why do you stay married to mom?”. He looked at me like I had three heads. His response: “I promised.” And that is all there was to it: they had promised each other. Thick and thin. Better or worse, right? This is not to say that there are never reasons to split – physical abuse and such obviously justifies such a thing – but at the end of the day, as you stand before God, did your word matter at all? That’s what they thought important.

And that is what is missing – to be sure, the boys are getting the better end of the stick here, to a small extent: they are getting all the sex they want. But what both girls and boys are missing is that promise – that commitment. The act of love. To do for another. To not wait in vain for the perfect person but to make that conscious decision, “ok, she/he isn’t perfect – but he/she promised and so did I: how do we make this work?”. We all go through the crisis – that sudden realization after the wedding that its not all wine and roses. That’s when being a man or woman comes into play. I will never say I’m the best husband – and my Mrs would never say she’s the best wife (but I call her that, anyway) – but I am trying. And, it works. Pity the poor kids these days who aren’t even getting a shot at it because the world is buried under the rubble of Liberalism.

I just learned that there’s a real movement of gays into the rodeo culture….”sigh”. What I think is really funny, though I was too tactful to mention it, is that they are moving into barrel racing, which has always been a woman’s sport. But in general in my world in Colorado and Wyoming most men are more manly—-farmers, ranchers, cowboys—- and fortunately, I don’t have a lot of exposure to the metrosexual girly-men I know are out there. I have definitely seen the damaging effect of the so called “Sexual Revolution” on women because this was part of the 60s. I remember the pain and confusion of a younger cousin when the guy she had been dating for several months told her that when his parents came to town she wasn’t going to meet them because she just wasn’t the kind of girl you take home to meet Mom. There really wasn’t anything I could say to her without making her feel worse but it was a vivid illustration of how boys and men truly feel about women who treat sex as casually as men often do. This guy had a really good time with my cousin. He probably really liked her. But she was definitely not the kind of girl he would ever want to settle down with.

You don’t really need to see the skinny jeans or the man buns or the earrings to pick up on a certain lack of masculinity. Some of us here have noted a very distinct lack of manliness in the obsession of a couple of posters who seem to get kind of a giggly tittery cheap thrill out of constantly sneaking in the back door to post more of their smugly inane snot-nuggets. They clearly don’t have much going on in their lives and I’ve never picked up on any kind of a vibe that hints at girlfriends or wives or families or actually being a part of the world around them. They kind of come across as sad snickery mole people hunkered down in stained underwear surrounded by empty pizza boxes whose only real victories in life boil down to being able to slither under the edge of the blog tent one more time. You can always spot people who are constantly being rejected because they are so indifferent to scorn but mostly they appear to be utterly clueless about the characteristics that define men. They don’t come across as feminine so much as merely without any kind of defining maleness. I think this is what happens when boys grow up without strong male role models to show them how to be men.

Liberals, especially liberal women, are significantly less likely to be happy with their lives and satisfied with their “mental health,” compared to their conservative peers aged from 18-55. This is the big takeaway from the 2022 American Family Survey, a striking new poll from YouGov and the Deseret News, which found that liberals are about 15 percentage points less likely to be “completely satisfied” with their lives.

The survey goes on to find that liberals are about 19 percentage points less likely to be “completely satisfied” with their “mental health” than conservatives. But the problem appears to be especially acute for liberal women, who register the lowest levels of satisfaction with their lives and mental health.

I wonder if liberal women going out in the woods and screaming at the top of their lungs and waving sticks around for at least 20 minutes or until their arms are too tired to keep it up is a cause of their mental health issues or just a symptom. It doesn’t seem like celebrating “Rage” and turning it into a ritual is a very healthy attitude.

The percentage of American teenage girls whoo have thought about committing suicide has been around thirty percent for some time. It was something we discussing in some of my education classes forty years ago. While I’m sure social media has added to the problem it probably isn’t the main cause. As for younger women wanting a return of masculine men, there hasn’t been much evidence of that. When dating apps for conservatives have been launched they have had a hard time attracting women.

Butker’s jersey in female cut sold out.

        Women want men.

        Men want women.

The poor, confused youngsters of today who have been morally degraded by a lifetime of pop culture garbage maybe aren’t sure what they want. And given that they emerge from college entirely uneducated they also lack the means to articulate what is missing. But it is there. Either God put it there or Nature did, take your pick depending on your theological outlook: but a man yearns for the woman as the woman yearns for the man. It has to be so: it is the only way we continue. We are not complete without the opposite gender.

And that, as an aside, is why you see so much weirdness in the, lets say, non-traditional sexual communities. And high rates of suicide among them. And why so many of them are shrieking lunatics when they don’t get their way. For almost all of them, they are denying their deepest desires – denying very basic things about themselves. Rely on it, if there is a biological basis for homosexuality, etc, it is something that will show up only in a very tiny percentage of the population. No biological population will have built into it a large percentage of people who won’t propagate the population. If such a thing ever came to be, it would be swiftly bred out. Sex is for reproduction. Attraction and sexual pleasure is to make sure that sexual activity results in reproduction. To deny this – to try to live some bizarre outlier sexual life which has no end other than physical pleasure is to deny truth…and all denials of truth lead to misery.

And before you try to denigrate this as homophobia – yes, I know that in some instances a same sex relationship closely mirrors heterosexual. I know this because I’ve seen it. Heck, I’ve got family members. But for each boring gay couple just living their lives there are far more out there letting the freak flag fly as they try to grasp for something they’ll never find: true happiness. Just go watch a Pride parade and you’ll see it – a desperate, frantic attempt to get attention, to distract from the emptiness…so make it seem like this is fun.

As for younger women wanting a return of masculine men, there hasn’t been much evidence of that. When dating apps for conservatives have been launched they have had a hard time attracting women.

These two statements have nothing in common with each other. I’m not really sure how an elderly Lefty can decide how much “evidence” there has been of younger women being interested in more masculine men, but women preferring to meet men in more traditional ways to develop relationships instead of merely checking off a shopping list has nothing to do with that.

It’s kind of odd, though that you seem to have been tracking conservative dating sites.

As for “thinking about” committing suicide, this is a data point that depends wholly on how the questions are phrased. I doubt that honestly answering in the affirmative to having “thought about” comitting suicide is the same thing as seriously considering it as an option. I’ve “thought about” suicide without ever considering killing myself, in many contexts. We can wonder why the concept appeals to some people. We can wonder if this is something that we would consider if faced with a painful and terminal illness. We can speculate about the level of despair that it would take for someone to seriously consider this. There are many ways to think about committing suicide that don’t involve considering it as an action one might want to take.

This is why I have so little faith in polls, because I understand that answers depend so heavily on how the questions are phrased. I remember the one time I tried to respond to a telephone poll back in the old George W. Bush days. The question was whether or not I believed in or supported some action that he had taken and my response was no. I expected a follow-up question about what I would have preferred, and my answer would have been that I didn’t think he had gone nearly far enough or done enough but the way my simple “no” was entered indicated that I thought he was wrong when I thought he was doing the right thing and I just wanted him to do it more energetically.

In general I agree, although there has always been a certain percentage of humans looking for other relationships.

“It’s kind of odd, though that you seem to have been tracking conservative dating sites.”

After my first wife died I decided to try dating again. Having not dated for over forty years, I decided to explore different dating apps along with more traditional methods of meeting women. Conservative apps have never been very popular with women in general.

It’s so funny how you seem to think that you’re making salient points. A perfect example is: “Conservative apps have never been very popular with women in general” which is really just another way of saying “conservative women aren’t just looking for hookups but for relationships they don’t expect to find with men who have to advertise for dates”.

Between this kind of pointless assertion of speculation and your constant auditioning for the role of Captain Platitude it’s really hard to understand why you think you actually make a contribution to this blog.

And BTW, whatever point you think you were making when you speculate that “Guessing a lot of guys bought them for their wives and girlfriends” you seem typically oblivious to the fact that this would indicate that this is the kind of women that guys want their wives and girlfriends to be. It’s always kind of amusing to see how consistent you are in missing the point.

The problem with a conservative dating site is likely linked to lack of market for it.

While total fertility rate in the USA and around the world is dropping like a rock, it is highest – and above replacement rate – among the religious. You don’t need a dating site if you’re already married and having kids and it is a simple fact that the more religious a person is, the more likely they are to lean Right in the political spectrum. The future belonging to whoever is there, what you’ll see by 2150 is a world dominated by Christians, Muslims, Jews and Mormons. One of the more interesting things to watch for those who are, say, 20 or younger today is Israel as the Haredi Jews become an ever large portion of the population – Haredi women have an average of six children and there doesn’t seem to be the least abatement in devotion over generations. I doubt that a Haredi has ever signed on to a dating site.

But the real thing to think about here is the lunacy of a thing called a “dating site”. Somehow or another over 100,000 years people managed to get together with ease and start families and now we suddenly have to have a strategy for it. Do we even realize how bizarre this is? How out of whack the world is where it is a struggle to find someone to bump uglies with? The simplest thing in the world is now fraught and mentally taxing.

It all is coming to an end. The world can’t live like this – and so this version of society will die with more or less violence…and it will be replaced by something that looks very much like the world did 1900 and earlier.

“While total fertility rate in the USA and around the world is dropping like a rock, it is highest – and above replacement rate – among the religious”

That’s true, but the number of religious people is dropping. Religious people might have more children, but a lot of those kids aren’t staying in the church.

“and so this version of society will die with more or less violence…and it will be replaced by something that looks very much like the world did 1900 and earlier.”

With the things going on today, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a huge drop in population and civilization in general.

He was not only vice president during the pandemic, but President Obama sent him to Detroit to fix things, leading to him spending a lot of time with the mayor of Detroit. That’s three specific lies in one short statement—-although to be fair, I don’t think they can be called lies as much as examples of his total lack of a grasp on reality.

(Though there might be an element of fact in it as we all speculate that Obama is pulling the strings and actually the de facto president, with Joe being just a prop, so maybe Barack does send him out with instructions on what to do.)

I sometimes think there is a Grand Poobah of Leftist Idiocy who sits on his throne and oversees Leftists and every now and then zeros in on an area where he doesn’t think there has been enough stupidity, and sends his minions out to correct that.

    Most recent example :

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the supposed animal rights group that regularly euthanizes almost all of the dogs and cats they take in, decided to go after New York City Mayor Eric Adams for, get this, “demonizing rats.”

You see, dear reader, Mayor Adams said Wednesday that he “hates rats” and is seeking to hold an “urban rat summit,” which Gothamist compared to the Yalta Conference near the end of World War II.

    …………………………………………..

However, in a bizarre turn of events, PETA seemed to take offense at Adams’ stance on rats, going so far as to send an ‘Empathy Kit’ with a coffee mug proclaiming ‘rats have rights’ to City Hall, as Fox reported.

Well, I can see that there might be a certain logic in encouraging Leftists to finally openly align themselves with rats (after all, they painted worshipful murals of George Floyd) I still can’t help but think that they didn’t really think this through.
