You realize that its only been five days since the shooting?
Doesn’t that seem like a month ago?
Time is like that – and we are living very fast right now. It is something that the late William Manchester noted in his memoir Goodbye, Darkness – During times of great events and stress, time compresses and seems to go a lot faster. Titanic forces are at work in our nation and it is hard at times to keep up with everything.
The USSS failed utterly. The shooter was seen hours before the event and was marked down as suspicious. From there is just got worse and worse until there’s no aspect of the security set up which didn’t fail. Trump is alive by simple miracle – had he not turned his head at the right moment, he’d be dead. No question about that – I’ve seen the time line videos showing the angles. The shooter had Trump dead in his sights.
The USSS and its parent organization DHS are stonewalling the investigation – not even letting Senators ask questions. This is feeding the files of conspiracy theories with dark hints about the Deep State. It probably isn’t that complex – all you have to do is order the troops to do the wrong thing and give every opportunity for the enemy to act. You think about the Alamo holding out as long as it did but if at any time those inside had simply done the wrong thing, it would have fallen quickly. That’s all it takes – for want a nail, right? I suspect that the ROE the USSS operates under for Trump is so deliberately bad that there was little chance, outside someone disobeying direct orders, for Trump’s Secret Service detail to stop it before the shots rang out. And that would be what they’re covering up…busily deleting texts and shredding documents so that those who ordered the total fail don’t have documentary evidence against them.
If I were Trump I’d start relying far more on personally hired security. I’d have at least some number of people I pay just to keep an eye on things. If someone paid by Trump was involved with security, that roof would not have been empty. No person determined to protect Trump would have missed that.
We all thought after the shooting that the push to oust Biden was over – and it made sense to think that. And, I believe, it was like that for a couple days. The Democrats resigned themselves to losing the White House and while they’d go through the motions of rah-rah for Biden, their focus would be on the House and Senate. But starting this morning the push to oust regained steam…with Schiff openly calling for Biden to step down. Schiff is supposed to win by 25 in a State Biden is supposed to win by 25. He shouldn’t have the least worry and so should have no need to step into a party fight which will earn him enemies no matter how it comes out. But he stepped in – and it can only mean that he’s seen internal polling showing Biden dragging Democrats down. And I mean badly down – like a 10-15 point shift to the GOP in some places bad. Schiff still gets his Senate seat…but if this is so, there will be about five fewer Democrats in that Senate with him.
Biden claimed Covid and retreated back to Delaware. Not the White House: he wanted a place where there are no visitor logs. I suspect over the next couple days there will be some conversations. We’ll see how that comes out – they still can’t force Biden out. His people are in charge of the Democrat party, and the delegates are mostly Biden loyalists. If Biden digs in his heels, it is almost impossible to get him out and it would require a massive political fight to even try..leaving the Democrat party divided and in tatters, maybe for years. So, people are going to talk to him (or, more accurately, Jill and Hunter) and see if some deal can be struck that strokes Biden’s ego enough to convince him to step aside.
Nobody has any idea how that will come out – the principle players in it don’t know how it will come out. We’ll just have to wait and see.
The USSS failed utterly. The shooter was seen hours before the event and was marked down as suspicious. From there is just got worse and worse until there’s no aspect of the security set up which didn’t fail.
And virtually everything that the media reported in the first 24 hours turned out to be incorrect. There’s an old saying, “never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity,” I don’t think this was stupidity, but I think the malice against Trump within the Federal Government itself is so pervasive that, while it may not have been an organized conspiracy, I have no trouble believing that it was intentional carelessness. I won’t be surprised if whistleblowers start coming out of the woodwork.
Yep.
Also: apologies in advance to Amazona, but Vance nailed it tonight in my view. Just a great America First speech.
Hey, I want Vance to be great. But, ‘jes sayin’, being good at speeches is not the same as being qualified to be president. Remember Obama? Hollywood is full of actors who could deliver a barn-burner speech and not have two brain cells to rub together. I think Vance has more on the ball than that, but it will take more than a good speech to make me think he is the better choice. A decent choice, yes. Better? We’ll see.
(BTW, some comments sections on other blogs are strongly in agreement it should have been RDS.)
Just a thought – maybe Trump asked DeSantis, and DeSantis said no. After all, Trump and DeSantis has a well publicized meeting earlier this spring, and DeSantis’ name was never mentioned again, not on the long list, not on the short list, nothing. I’ve read a dozen articles about Vance, the vast majority complimentary, not a single mention of DeSantis.
That’s a good point, though I do think DeSantis would have seen a vice presidency as a natural launching point to the presidency. A few weeks ago I suggested to our mutual friend that DeSantis would have a hard time working with Trump as, essentially, his boss, and he said that as a military officer DeSantis had had to take orders from a lot of people he might not have liked or respected but that’s what you have to do, and he didn’t think it would be a problem
maybe Trump asked DeSantis, and DeSantis said no.
I hadn’t thought of that, and it’s quite possible. DeSantis is young and loves being an executive, of which he excels at, so maybe he is playing the long game.
I think the reason Schiff came out in opposition to Biden yesterday is because Nancy Pelosi instructed him too. He is after all beholden to her, and I think Nancy is working behind the scenes finding an exit ramp for Biden. She is ruthless.
Vance did very well last night and I like him a lot. IMO, Vance can be that smiling assassin to the Left much like Reagan was. Vance has a very congenial manner about him allowing him to deliver a common sense conservative message very effectively … much like Reagan did, and I think that is very much needed in a time of such political rancor.
On another note, it looks like Kamala will be served up as the sacrificial lamb in November.
Do you have a link for the Kamala Harris sacrificial lamb statement?
No. I’m just hearing today that the powers to be in Democrats circles are definitely pushing Joe out, and they are all citing polls showing Kamala does better against Trump. Plus, they simply can’t dismiss her … black women are one of the strongest identity groups in the Democrat coalition
As for doing better than Joe against Trump, that’s a pretty low bar. I think those polls are just blowing smoke. True, they can’t dismiss her, but once she is the nominee she will have to perform. She has been pretty good at debates, or so the story goes, but as for her black cred, there are a couple of things that will probably come up.
One is her lack of African American background, as her father is Jamaican/Irish, and the “black” part of his Jamaican heritage is questionable as it is more of a cultural designation than racial, being a mixture of many races sometimes including some African but not in any identifiable way. She was sworn in as the Senate’s “first Indian Senator” and always identified as Indian until it was time to become black. Trump has enough famous black people supporting him to make the point that she is black like Warren is Native American, only as a political tactic, and BTW she has ancestors who had slaves.
The other is her record in California as DA that resulted in putting huge numbers of black men in prison for relatively minor drug crimes.
Then there is her utter failure at everything assigned to her as VP.
Hopefully it’s this kind of ridicule that will eventually get the USSS Director to resign:
So good LOL
Conspiracy theory # …. oh hell I’ve lost count. So here we are again in American pretending that the government had nothing to do with the attempted assassination of Trump. Much like we pretend that Oswald killed JFK, that we are saving democracy in Ukraine, that climate is an existential threat, and that Covid vaccines were safe and effective. I’m tired of living lies.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/interview-wheres-blood-photos-er-trauma-surgeon-says/
Surely you’re not suggesting that our government would lie to us. And no, I’m not calling you Shirley.
ROTFLMAO!! And that’s just the short list.
Do you think his handicap might be affected by the fact he’s using a tennis racket?
A caller to Glenn Beck’s radio show just brought up something that I thought of a couple of days ago, and then it slipped my mind. Where are all the calls from Democrats to ban AR-style rifles that we ALWAYS hear after one is used in an act of violence?
Well here we are once again … nothing passes the smell test. SS Chief won’t answer questions, there was NO blood on the roof where supposedly the SS shot the shooter, and supposedly a 20 year old has NO social media footprint???
I know we are all thinking it, so let me be one of the first to say it … the attempted assassination of Trump was an inside job. And now Cheatle has to lay cover for it. And why wouldn’t they?? They have done everything in their power to make Trump go away and he just keeps getting stronger, so why not kill him??
Yeah, I just heard about the lack of blood. A witness is quoted as saying “they blew his head off,” and yet there’s almost no blood on the roof. Another thing I just read: CNN NEVER covers Trump rallies, so why were they at this one. Did they get a heads up like when the FBI raided Roger Stone’s house?
Gee, you would think that on such a steeply pitched roof blood would have run down the slope and not just pooled in a tidy little puddle around his head. Although to be fair once the heart stops blood is not being pumped out of the body.
And whatever happened to that second shooter? Did they just float that theory to see how it would go over and then decide to drop it? Maybe somebody pointed out that if two armed gunmen were in the sights of government snipers and neither one of them got shot before Trump was fired on that might not be a very good thing to admit.
In a conversation about this this morning. I said that there might not have been a coordinated active effort to get Trump killed but more of a passive indifference to the fact that he might be killed. I think there are a lot more Trump haters who would be just fine with his death who would not be willing to play an active role in getting him killed.
Rest in peace, Bob Newhart.
Way back in the olden days of yesteryear, as a young teenager I used to babysit a lot and I loved one family because they had a collection of vinyl LP records of comedians, and Bob Newhart was my favorite. So years later when he started his sitcom career I was already a big fan and familiar with his hesitant style. I loved everything he ever did, right up through his Big Bang days.
Dr. Malone must be truly enraged, to use such language! I am shocked—SHOCKED, I tell you! So much so that I am going to make a calming cup of tea and daintily sip it from my new mug that says “I do not spew profanities. I enunciate them clearly, like a f*****g lady”. (No asterisks on my mug, BTW)
If you go to the link, be sure to go all the way to the end, for a much-needed laugh at “Who’s On First”.
The use of the term has broadened, and we can probably say the we are seeing the enshittification of the Secret Service.
LOL! Thanks for linking to this. I started to read it yesterday, got interrupted, had to restart my computer, and forgot about about it. And the Abbot & Costello routine: one of the funniest comedy routines of all time.
Interesting thought – so many times during the RNC, Trump was referred to as the future “47th President”, but this might not be true. I’m not suggesting he won’t win the election. However, if Bidum leaves office before the end of his term it’s likely Harris will be sworn in making her 47th by default. If he does finish his term but chooses to drop out of the next election, unless Harris is the nominee (which even the democrats don’t seem to want) there will be lots of issues to deal with, including how to legally handle Bidum’s campaign contributions.
The process becomes more complicated if someone other than Harris were to replace Biden: his campaign would first need to repay all of its vendors, and if the campaign ended before their parties’ respective conventions, where they officially select a nominee, they would have to refund all contributions designated to be used in the general election, elections lawyer Brett Kappel told Forbes.
After that, Biden could try to use any leftover money to support his party’s new candidate, but campaign finance laws only allow transfers of up to $2,000 directly to another federal campaign, so the vast majority of his war chest would likely be given to other groups like political parties or PACs.
The mess the democrats have created for themselves is rather entertaining… if it weren’t for the fact that they’re all inept and will control all government agencies (at least for now) and have the keys to the ICBM’s. However they try to shuffle the cards they have a losing hand. As Spook says; Grab the popcorn and watch the show (or something to that fact).
there will be lots of issues to deal with, including how to legally handle Bidum’s campaign contributions.
One thing is pretty much a given: they won’t let rules, regulations, and the LAW get in the way. Democrats have two primary rules that Trump (pun intended) all other rules: the ends justify the means, and better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.
Defiant Biden Handlers Just Threw Obama, Schumer, and Pelosi Under the Bus and Then Backed Over Them
A report from NBC News quotes a “source close to Biden” throwing Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi under the bus before backing up over them. They even go so far as to say the three named above were responsible for Donald Trump being elected in 2016 because they pushed Hillary Clinton to the forefront.
I’m going to make a prediction. joebama stays. They have nobody else who is any better and bench full of idiots who are worse, such as newsome.
I will also say it does not matter who the kommiecrats choose. They will lose.
TRUMP 2024!
I know he is under huge pressure to step down, but as I understand it this has to be his decision. That is, Jill’s decision, and Hunter’s. With Harris as the only potential candidate who can dodge the big financial bullet laid out by jdge1, the choices are so limited that I would not be surprised to see Joe dig in his heels at the last minute and tell Barry and Nan to take a hike. He has evidently said he doesn’t want to be responsible for Trump getting elected by dropping out of the race. Yes, I know that is delusional, but if that is his mindset and Jill and Hunter back him, the Dems don’t seem to have many options.
This would fit nicely on a bumper sticker:
‘When you primarily go after DEI, you end up with D-I-E.’
Trump is an intelligent man (even though he can at times be his own worst enemy) and is privy to many things we are not. I suspect one of the things that drew Trump to Vance is that he’s an outsider, much like Margaret Tobin Brown – “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”. Like Brown, Vance’s wealth came from new money, with hard work & good fortune. They both walk their own path choosing not to succumb to group thought, and the refusal to bow before false gods of abhorrent ideologies – in essence making them outsiders, second class citizens in the mindset of the political elites. He is considered a man of deep faith and patriotism, things the left detests.
The left will cast their hate onto anyone who even speaks against their unholy word, much less actually act against it, labeling them with every …ist (racist, sexist, etc.) in the dictionary. Expect Vance to be a target and viciously attacked, even as a relative new comer. The left will attempt every means possible to demonize those to stand in their way. What else is new.
It seems many VP picks these days are insurance packages. People selected to help ensure the President doesn’t become an assassination target. Think Obama put sleepy Joe on the ticket to enhance his chances of winning? Remember Dan Quayle? Harris is certainly not helping Bidum or the democrat party. Vance however, does not appear to be one of those. While I certainly second Amazona’s belief that Vance is not currently equipped to handle the hot seat and has not been hardened into the political trenches, I hope he is surrounded by the best people to prepare him. If he can show the courage of standing on principle, the ability to outthink and out maneuver the opposition, the ability to steer the ship through the roughest of waters, the cunningness to avoid word / statement / situation traps and mostly, do what is right for the citizens of the US – he will make an excellent VP. That it yet to be seen, but I find myself in hopes that theses choices are made with the guidance of the Almighty.
Expect Vance to be a target and viciously attacked, even as a relative new comer and there is no doubt that he will. But he gives the Left so little to work with. If they go after his humble beginnings, they attack a lot of their base.
I think he will be fine as VP, and just hope that Trump mentors him well enough to develop him into a potential president, if that were to be necessary. Who knows, I might even come around to choosing him over DeSantis in 2028. He’s proved to be a fast learner and pretty fearless, and he’s got charisma and speaking skills—-and a gorgeous wife who is a (drumroll, please….) WOMAN OF COLOR!!!
I haven’t laughed this hard in a while.
ROFL
That’s hilarious.
I remember reading about this and then a friend sent me this link. It’s how you handle thugs, and Trump’s experience in dealing with Mafia types in the building trade in NYC seemed to be standing him in good stead as president.
Gotta love it. Trump is succinct and direct is nothing else. Many people at the RNC talked about his humor, his generosity, and cohesive family, on top of his many business successes.
Canadian author with cerebral palsy says nurse called her ‘selfish’ for refusing euthanasia
Those trying to champion socialized health care fail to understand its natural progression (unless that’s their intent all along). First, in socialized medicine the incentive of health care providers is greatly diminished when they get paid the same regardless of how many patients they see or the quality of care they give. When the pay incentive based on how much you work and the results you garner is stripped away, subpar results is not only likely but inevitable. That in turn reduces the number of people entering health professions, especially on a life-long journey into quality patient care. And as with all things that are government controlled, the never-ending tiered bureaucracy creates financial stresses, time delays, missed opportunities, reduced innovations, selective application for the elites & connected, etc… Anything that requires more than superficial care, such as preterm babies, elderly & chronic patients, will be seen as a drain on the system. They only alternative to alleviate the demands on this foolishly created system is to remove people from the equation, optional at first but by force when it is deemed necessary (courts have rewarded hospitals the right to terminate certain people’s lives against their wishes, based on administrative requests)..
This destructive endeavor is par for most leftist policies. We see it all of the time in the blue inner cities, the failed schools, those stuck on or pushed into welfare, rise in crime, the deterioration of families, the removal of God, the persecution of religious people, society divisions, loss of jobs, loss of freedoms and total loss of common sense are but a few damming results. Without God there is no moral compass and respect for human life become arbitrary and inconsequential.
