I’m noticing that more and more people are starting to see what I’ve been harping on for years: the basic problem we have is the lies. They are so entirely pervasive that they entirely wreck our ability to construct a policy on any issue. We first have to contend with the lies – and by the time we finally beat one lie back, we only find that the liars have come up with three more.
For 2024, though, we do see something both good and fun happening: the Democrat meltdown.
I’m writing this on Sunday afternoon for a Tuesday posting because over Monday I won’t be available to post. Biden is out. Harris is (sorta) in. Everyone – every last person – who crosses Trump winds up destroyed. This isn’t (necessarily) divine protection for Trump. It has a different source.
JD Vance, like many others, has pointed out that if Biden is unfit to run for office then he’s unfit to hold the office. Now that he’s stepped aside from the campaign, then it must follow that he should resign his office. Keep in mind that everyone from Harris on down was just a few weeks ago asserting that Biden is sharp as a tack. Heck, earlier Sunday Harris put out another post lauding Biden’s ability. Now that Biden is out, they are going to have to contend with numerous and loud calls for Biden to resign – and if you think getting him to agree to step aside was hard, imagine how hard it would be to convince him to become the second American President to resign from office!
And this whole thing – this entire crisis ripping the Democrats to shreds right now – is because they lied. They lied in 2020 when they said Joe was ok. They lied continuously since 2020…they lied and lied about Joe until he got up in front of 50 million Americans and demonstrated conclusively that he’s unfit. And here’s the kicker: Democrats only forced him out because he’s became a drag down ballot! Absent that – if swing district Dems were still doing ok – they’d blithely keep lying that Biden is fine. They are caught in a vise they can’t escape – there is no way out. Pushing Biden aside is a mere ploy they hope will change the dynamic.
And all because of lies. If they had just told the truth, none of this would happen.
Of course, if they just told the truth then Trump would be finishing his second term and we’d be discussing the DeSantis vs Shapiro race.
As for me, just pass the popcorn! I don’t care how it comes out. The longer they fight the better for us. An energized GOP is ready to take it to them. And Trump, himself, has changed a bit. No surprise: he found out that every day really is a gift. He’ll never stop being Trump but there is a softer curve to him right now – a willingness to laugh at himself and see the better in others. I think this will start to connect with the American people.
And Trump, himself, has changed a bit.
We definitely saw a different trump at the RNC. I suspect coming withing a fraction of an inch of having the side of your head blown off will do that to you. Thus the old saying, “there are no Atheists in foxholes.” God works in mysterious and wondrous ways.
The problem is there are SO MANY videos of her saying inane things and then cackling. They’d make great 15 and 30 second spots followed by Trump’s voice saying “President of the United States? You’ve got to be kidding me.”
And then, of course, there’s the face that she slept her way to the California AG’s office and the U.S. Senate. If they can go after Trump’s morals, surely hers are fair game.
And then there’s her record, and she’s ON record supporting just about every far Left policy and proposal that’s come down the pike in the last few years. She was one of only a dozen or so co-sponsors in the Senate of the Green New Deal. She’s supported single-payer health care, guaranteed basic income, reparations; the list goes on and on.
They have already started to complain that she might be “smeared” by referring to her as the “Border Czar”, thereby dumping responsibility for the border disaster on her.
I forgot about the border. There’s a great sound bite of her (I’m paraphrasing) Reporter: “so you haven’t been to the border?” Harris: “and I haven’t been to Europe.”
Note to self: order more popcorn.
I just saw that clip. I hope Trump’s team has a good archivist who is ready to go with this stuff.
From June 2021:
Vice President Harris defended her decision to not go to the border during a combative moment in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on her trip to Guatemala and Mexico.
Holt repeatedly noted that Harris, who is charged in the Biden administration with handling the flow of Central American migrants at the border, hasn’t actually been to the border. Holt twice asked Harris directly if she would visit the border.
The second time, Harris responded with a bit of incredulity.
“At some point, you know, we are going to the border,” Harris told Holt when asked if she plans to visit the border. “We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.”
“You haven’t been to the border,” Holt responded.
“And I haven’t been to Europe,” she replied. “And I mean, I don’t … understand the point that you’re making. I’m not discounting the importance of the border.”
I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE POINT THAT YOU’RE MAKING. That pretty much sums up Kamala Harris.
I want to see that clip of her explaining that Ukraine is a very small country and Russia is a very big country, as if she is talking to Putin, and a look of stunned amazement on his face. “Is this who you want sitting across the table from world leaders?”
Some additional thoughts on the assassination attempt. My bet is that the FBI will sit on anything and everything to do with the facts behind it, just like they did with Hunter’s laptop, Hell, the FBI may well have been behind the whole thing, just like with the Gretchen Whitmer fake kidnapping and many aspects of Jan. 6th. If I were Trump, I’d hire the best independent investigators money can buy and turn them lose. Then I’d start leaking their findings a little bit at a time – every few days till the election. Because of the proliferation of cell phone videos taken at the rally, this is going to be easier to get to the bottom of than the JFK assassination. All of the public photos I’ve found of Crooks’ body on the roof of the warehouse are from the same drone, Sky News, I think. They’re grainy, and you can’t make much of them. My bet is that a photo or photos exists that shows no blood, body tissue or brain matter on the roof. The photo of the Secret Service agent hosing off the roof was to mislead everyone into thinking that something was there that wasn’t. I heard a report yesterday that they found 8 shell casings on the roof, maybe as many as 10. Repeat that to yourself a couple of times, and let it sink in. You either had 8 or you had 10, or does the Secret Service not require their agents be able to count to 10.
I think, at the end of the day, we’re going to find that the entire incident was one massive psyop from start to finish, but I don’t think we’re ever going to find that out from the FBI, at least not the FBI as it is currently constituted unless some gutsy whistleblowers come forward with total disregard for their careers.
A conspiracy theorist is somebody who was right too early.
An example, re: “Where’s Joe?”
The official story was that Joe Biden’s trip was cut short last week due to COVID However, according to this source, US Secret Service informed LV Metro that there was an emergency situation involving Joe Biden and to close necessary streets so that POTUS could be transported immediately to University Medical, which they began to do in earnest. Then, mysteriously, there was a stand down order and the USSS informed local Vegas PD that they were going to “medivac” POTUS to Johns Hopkins, , which they presumed meant fly him back east ASAP. Apparently the rumor mill in the police department was that Joe Biden was dying or possibly already dead.
The guy who does the drive-time show on WOWO AM radio in Fort Wayne is originally from Las Vegas. He knows someone who is a relative of someone on Vegas Metro PD, and he reported the same thing yesterday afternoon. He qualified it with the fact that it could have just been Biden’s oxygen level dropping below a certain point. Assuming it wasn’t a deep fake, Biden made a public statement last night. It’s pretty bad when our own government has lied to us so many times that everything they say is suspect.
The CIA is behind the attempted assassination of Trump, and we know this by the lack of transparency. They are in the process of covering it all up. And why wouldn’t they try to kill him?? They have all convinced themselves that Trump is Hitler, so?? Of course they will try and kill him and let’s not pretend otherwise. Americans need to understand that the current Democrat is as dangerous as any Mexican Cartel and they operate the same.
This is also the third primary that Democrats have ignored their own voters and installed the candidate who the elites support. They paid off Bernie Sanders and rigged the 2016 and the 2020 primary in favor of Hilary and Biden, when the obvious choice of Democrat voters in both primaries was Bernie. And this is the party who professes to protect democracy.
This is also, without question, the least transparent administration in American history. The last press conference Biden gave was scripted, and that was the first press conference in 2 years. Of course when your entire agenda is built on lies, you don’t really want to answer too many questions.
In the case of the Trump assassination attempt, I think the FBI is the more likely culprit, given their involvement in anti-Trump activity for about ten years now. When you have a security force as badly managed as the Secret Service has become, it doesn’t take much to move the bubble. It’s not like the movies where the assassin has to do all this research into the venue, practice his ingress and egress from the scene, etc.
Though every time I ascribe something to incompetence I run into the fact that it’s just plain crazy—like taking agents off the roof in question “because it was getting too hot up there”—-and then claiming no one was assigned to be there because the “slope” was too steep to be safe. Like claiming that a site within easy rifle range was “outside the perimeter”.
In this circumstance all they needed was one good shooter and one disturbed kid eager to become famous as a badass and the USSS did all the other work for them.
As far as the general direction of the country under Democrats, all anyone has to do is read up a little on the Stalin regime to see the patterns. From the callous decision to sacrifice millions of lives to gain or retain power (Ukraine Holodomor 1932-33/Covid 2020) to the show trials of the J6 Committee to the rejection of the stated democratic principles of the DNC in favor of consolidation of power in the hands of a few elites who then rule by edict to the principle of “Show me the man and I will show you a crime” the parallels are there.
Exactly. The weak excuses of Secret Service actions don’t even pass the smell test. This is a cover up!!
It’s either a coverup or “Yes, we really ARE that stupid!”
“I have a timeline that does not have specifics.” But isn’t a timeline basically a list of specifics?
It sounds like her timeline reads something like “9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Guard president.”
And the SS practice of deleting audio recordings of significant events is very distressing.
Kim Cheatle just resigned. She wasn’t fired, and now it’s back to guarding Pepsi products.
Of course she wasn’t fired. Getting fired means someone is taking responsibility. Quitting just means running away as everything starts to get really unpleasant.
I wonder what DOCTOR Jill has been thinking of all this, as her recommendation (probably more like a command) that Cheatle be given this job is making her look bad, too.
DsSantis said yesterday that Democrats are busy “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic” LOL, and that’s exactly how it appears.
Does anyone think we will see Karine Jean-Pierre again? And what in the hell will she have to say??
A friend who really pays little attention to politics was surprised that I didn’t watch even a minute of the Republican convention. She watched it all, and was very impressed, especially with Trump. She has liked him as president, voted for him, but never liked him much as a person. She couldn’t stop talking about how much of a statesman he appeared to be, how sincere he was about wanting to unite the country, etc.
I had to promise to catch up on his speeches and several others on YouTube.
A Substack blogger named Heather Heying wrote about the Pride Parade in Portland, commenting on the large number of corporate sponsors making sure this tiny subset of our society knows they love and support. The question is, naturally, “why?” Her explanation is that it was a “Don’t Hurt Me” parade.
She talks about why people put those BLM signs in their yards, or fly those rainbow flags, and refers to them as part of a “don’t hurt me” effort.
And that sums it up—why people signal their fealty to causes in which they have little or no real involvement. It is because of the message our society now sends, which is that certain things are expected of people who want to be considered “beyond reproach” and obedient, in exchange for being left in peace. It’s the human version of cowering with tail tucked between legs, hoping that submission will mean not being attacked.
It’s a shameful requirement in any nation, but especially ours.
Fear is a powerful motive, and Communists know how to instill it, and harness it. Which is why Faith based people are the antithesis to Communism.
Rumors are circulating that Kamala will pick Pothole Pete Buttigieg as her running mate. Please, please do.
They are so well-matched—two people elevated to positions for which neither was even remotely qualified, other than checking off a couple of Social Justice boxes, and who then failed miserably at those jobs, while being remarkably inarticulate about the jobs or their performance.
I can just see the Trump ads, every one of them referring to the Dem DEI Team.
I’m not sure that would have worked in 2020. but a lot more people are paying attention now, and I think the number of voters who see DEI as a really bad thing is substantially greater than it was 4 years ago.
11 days ago, the Democrats attempted an assassination on former President Trump and … we still know nothing. Mayorkas is silent, Wray testifies today but I don’t expect any answers, Cheatle is gone after refusing to answer questions, and now the Democrats and the Media have moved on to coronate Mamala Harris even though she never received one single vote. The Democrat Party is a full blown Cartel at this point and they have a stranglehold on this country. We need to win in November and then begin to clean out the federal government and crush the WOKE virus
You’ve probably noticed that not one single argument in favor of Mattressback Kammy is about a belief that the federal government’s authority should be expanded far beyond the limits placed on it by the Constitution, to create a powerful Central Authority in which power is consolidated in the hands of a few elites who then rule by edict. That is the definition of Leftist governance, and she represents an escalation of that in our own nation, yet it is never presented as the reason anyone wants her to be president.
The closest the Dem apologists get is to throw out some vague, nonspecific claims of alleged outcomes of alleged Trump “policies”(so much debt! so many deaths!) without any reference to or discussion of those alleged “policies”, and never with any reference to or support of any actual policies of Harris they think would be good for the country.
The entire Dem support, such as it is, is like a big balloon, with the skin being the shrill hysterical PERSONALITY-based howling of sheer blind hatred of a man that tries to pass itself off as political discourse. It keeps expanding as it is pumped full of strident rhetoric, but inside is—–nothing. Just hot air. Just toxic nauseous gases.
I’ve never understood why so many people are so willing—-so eager—-to suspend actual thought and reason to join a howling mob and exhibit such a lack of intellect or rationality. It’s like there is a switch, like a gene, that predisposes some people to yearn for the darkness and nihilism of the Left, who have some inner need to hate, who seek out a movement that ratifies their ugliest impulses, who crave the illusion that their pathology is actually a positive thing and not a personality disorder.
But the thing that absolutely baffles me is the willful blindless to the damage this does to the country, to the actual structure of our nation. It is destroying it. It has eroded our culture, tainted our national identity and is undermining our rule of law so dramatically that in some places it barely exists at all. It has nearly destroyed our entire electoral process as well as our judicial system, turning them into nearly banana republic level mockeries. It supports the most brutal and callous and inhumane outcomes, like human trafficking in sex slaves of even the youngest children, like empowering the vicious drug cartels who casually murder anyone seen as an opponent, like advocating for the annihilation of an entire country and its people.
If you recall, Kamala was ranked as THE most liberal member of the Senate before The Turnip picked her for VP. There wasn’t a Leftist idea/policy/scheme that she didn’t support. I suspect that’s why Casper like her.
Actually, now that I think about it, hasn’t Casper portrayed himself as a moderate Democrat who used to be a Republican? Maybe he just likes her because she’s a multi-racial woman.
Casper’s only “reasons” for anything boil down to the equivalent of whatever Morning Joe has told him. I once asked him why he didn’t think we should be governed by the Constitution and he indignantly replied that he DOES believe in the Constitution! Well, except for the parts he doesn’t agree with, like restricting federal authority to the specifically delegated duties assigned to the federal government. And the parts that don’t even exist except in the echoing spaces in his head, like the imaginary parts that forbid women to vote and support slavery.
I get the impression that the combination of a relatively sane wife and working in a conservative school in a conservative city in a conservative state all combined to put guardrails on his inherent mental eccentricity, and once she died and he left for the rabidly Leftist state of Hawaii it was like cutting the string on a balloon, and he drifted off into the ether of totally irrational belief systems unmoored to reality. The question would be “why?” Clearly it is because this is where he finds emotional gratification and release.
Casper is not organically stupid. He obviously has the mental capacity to be able to get whatever certification he needed to be a teacher, he can function in limited settings and even posture as competent in some areas. If he were limited by organic lack of intellect I would never ridicule that. But he has made the decision—or at least not fought the inclination—-to willfully set intellect aside in favor of wallowing in negative and irrational hate-based delusions and blindly accepting every single goofball narrative fed to him if it supports his irrational allegiance to what appears to be an unexamined, unanalyzed, political movement. In other words, he has made the choice to present himself as stupid.
And he is very good at it.
It’s obvious that he still has the intellect to realize this, as we see when he sidesteps direct questions and engages in evasive maneuvers to try to avoid directly explaining his positions–if he were lacking the ability to understand how radical he sounds, he would not recognize the dangers of openly describing a political philosophy that is so defective it cannot be supported. But he does recognize the traps of being held to specifics, which means he has some element of understanding that his positions are indefensible. Yet he loves them so much, cherishes them so deeply, and gets such visceral pleasure out of expounding on them, that he just dismisses the tiny voice in there somewhere that tries to tell him “but this just doesn’t make sense”.
This is much like the legal definition of insanity. If someone truly does not understand that what he is doing is wrong, he is legally not capable of being held responsible for his actions. But if he does understand this and chooses to engage in the action anyway, he is considered responsible and liable for the consequences.
Maybe he just likes her because she’s a multi-racial woman.
No, he just likes her because he is told that he likes her, and because she represents the political model he has chosen as the best blueprint for governing the country.
(Actually, he has not, or if he has he has never explained that. He has never explained what he does think is the best blueprint for governing the country, because that is an objective, analytical, unemotional expression of an orderly thought process with no room in it for hysterical outbursts about personalities or unfounded slurs and personal attacks.)
She might be officially approved because " she’s a multi-racial woman" though the races involved seem to change depending on political expediency, but the real reason even less complex than that: She is not Trump. More widely, she is not a Republican.
Never mind the quibbling little detail of not being able to define "Republican" much less what it is about being a Republican that is so unacceptable.
According to my granddaughter and her husband Republicans are bad because they’re in favor of banning birth control.
This is another example of lies controlling the way our nation is governed.
Under Trump, Republicans tried to get birth control pills made available without prescriptions, as over-the-counter drugs. This effort was shot down by Democrats.
It’s also another example of the folly of letting ISSUES control decisions. We are supposed to be voting on the best way to govern the nation, Constitutional or otherwise, not on emotional attachment to some ISSUE . In the relatively saner days of not-so-long-ago the political discourse was not about what people wanted but on whether it was something allowed to the federal government to address or kept in the arena of state control.
But the Left has been brilliant in shifting what is supposed to be political discourse over to mere emotion-based bickering over personal actions and preferences.
Do you by any chance have a link to Republicans’ efforts to get birth control pills made available over the counter? I searched, but the results are all over the place.
I think it was proposed to Congress and shot down in favor of the one that includes the abortifcant “morning after pill” but I don’t remember the details, just comments from Trump and probably some Congresspeople about how it was time to make the pills more easily available
The Left kept mixing up the basic contraceptive pills with the abortificants, which typically muddied the waters, and the objections from Republicans were based on the fact that the morning after pill is dangerous and should only be used under a doctor’s care. Naturally this got conflated into being “against birth control” and it has probably gone down in history that way.
Contraception stops conception. The Morning After pill is an abortificant, which ends the life created when there was no contraception. By pretending that the two are the same, the Left has created a false narrative.
I paid a lot of attention to what never got much, because I once thought I had an ectopic pregnancy and remember the concerns of my doctor, and reading about the M.A. pill when it first came out about how if taken to end an ectopic pregnancy it would probably kill the woman, and it had to be taken very early in any pregnancy or it could also result in death. But the effort to explain this got drowned out by the hysterical shrieking of the Left about the prissy Republicans trying to restrict sexual activity, or some such nonsense.
This is the first time I heard of the Republican effort to do this, and this was back in 2014. I think it came up again when Trump was president. I am highlighting the Dem arguments I find specious but typical,
BY ZEKE J MILLER SEPTEMBER 8, 2014 11:10 PM EDT
Republicans may have found an answer to the Democratic “War on Women” battle cry in the most unexpected place: The women’s health section of your local pharmacy.
GOP candidates across the country are calling for birth control pills to be available over-the-counter without a prescription, elevating a once obscure conservative proposal to reduce women’s dependence on health insurance programs. Four GOP Senate candidates have advocated for over-the-counter birth control, Colorado’s Cory Gardner, Thom Tillis in North Carolina, Ed Gillespie in Virginia, and Mike McFadden in Minnesota. “I actually agree with the American Medical Association that we should make contraception more widely available. I think over-the-counter oral contraception should be available without prescription,” Tillis said last week in his first debate against Sen. Kay Hagan.
Liberal groups, not wanting the GOP storyline to take hold, have come back swinging, accusing Republicans of engaging in a deception to fool women. On Monday, Democratic groups in Colorado launched a five-figure television ad campaign to push back on Gardner’s embrace in a television ad last week of the policy proposal, arguing that the plan could raise out-of-pocket costs for women, since insurers who now provide no-cost contraception tend not to cover over-the-counter medication.
…………………………………..
Democrats have rejected the proposal as a distraction, contending that it amounts to a clever way of undermining the new benefits provided under Obamacare.
(An) elderly man—who police have not yet identified— was putting up a “political sign” in his yard when the alleged attacker drove into his yard and ran him over with the ATV, according to the police department.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition, police said.
This is the level of irrational hatred fomented by the Left as perfectly acceptable reactions to political opposition.
Yet they call MAGA extremists. I agree with Spook when he said the other day how remarkably calm MAGA is considering the attempted assassination. Meanwhile, Democrat Hamas protestors are currently acting up again in DC. Excellent speech by Bibi by the way
According to my granddaughter and her husband Republicans are bad because they’re in favor of banning birth control.
I am sure Project 2025 is an issue with them as well, and both issues are complete fabrications. Its amazing what Democrats can be led to believe.
The problem is that a lot of people, particularly young people who are working hard and raising a family and get their news from social media are prone to believing stuff that dovetails with their core beliefs, which are, in turn, driven by social media in a sort of vicious circle. The Dems, if nothing else, are master propagandists, and Republicans, often their own worst enemy, end up being put in the situation of “when did you stop beating your wife?”
The content, proposals and agendas of Project 2025 are not issues with them, because they have no idea what the project is about or why. So far the only Leftist specific comment I’ve seen was frantic whining that it wanted to restrict “the administrative state” and the quote was out of context and the argument against it was specious and silly and I don’t think that was widely publicized. No, the Left can’t risk actual discussion about actual facts, so they just wave the banner PROJECT 2025 and tell their lemmings this is a very very bad thing and then the lemmings rush to blogs to bleat about how it must be defeated and is a threat to democracy.
When I was a kid there was a stupid joke about prisoners repeating the same jokes so often they just gave the jokes numbers, and someone would say “434” and everyone would laugh. The Dems of today remind me of those prisoners. Just say a phrase they have been told has some nefarious meaning and they start to howl.
From CNN, of all places. Gee, it almost looks like real journalism! emphasis mine, as well as some commentary

—
In the first rally of her presidential campaign on Tuesday, presumptive Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris wrongly described parts of the conservative Project 2025 blueprint for a potential second Donald Trump presidency. (What is usually called “lying.”)
The 920-page Project 2025 blueprint was organized by The Heritage Foundation think tank and developed in significant part by people who served in Trump’s administration; Trump has publicly distanced himself from the initiative, calling unspecified Project 2025 ideas “seriously extreme.” Project 2025’s proposals for right-wing policies and a radical reshaping of the executive branch have become frequent targets of Democratic criticism.
At Harris’ Tuesday rally in Wisconsin, she criticized Trump and “his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” then said: “Can you believe they put that thing in writing? Read it. It’s 900 pages. But here’s the thing. When you read it, you will see Donald Trump intends to cut Social Security and Medicare. He intends to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations and make working families foot the bill. They intend to end the Affordable Care Act. And take us back, then, to a time when insurance companies had the power to deny people with pre-existing conditions.”
Facts First : One of Harris’ claims about Project 2025 is false, while another is at least misleading. The Project 2025 document does not show that Trump intends to cut Social Security; the document barely discusses Social Security at all and does not propose cuts to the program. In addition, contrary to Harris’ suggestion, Project 2025 does not call to “end” the Affordable Care Act or eliminate its protections for people with pre-existing conditions. The document does criticize the Affordable Care Act, especially the law’s expansion of Medicaid, but makes clear it is advocating changes to the law rather than terminating the law entirely.
A Harris campaign official said the campaign has “made a deliberate decision to brand all of Trump’s policies” as “Project 2025,” since they believe “it has stuck with voters.” That is, the campaign has made a deliberate decision to base at least part of it on lies. After the initial publication of this article, a Harris campaign spokesperson, Joseph Costello, added, “Project 2025 is a blueprint for many of the dangerous policies we know that a second Trump term would include, and it is indisputable that in his first term, Donald Trump repeatedly tried to cut Social Security and end the Affordable Care Act.”
Mary Vought, a spokesperson for Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation, said, “Harris should follow her own advice and read the book instead of promoting lies and misinformation.”
No Project 2025 call to cut Social Security
We won’t render a verdict on Harris’ claim about Project 2025 calling for cuts to Medicare, though Trump himself has vowed he will not cut even a cent from the health insurance program for seniors and people with disabilitiesThe Project 2025 document proposes multiple significant changes to Medicare, and it’s not clear what their overall impact would be.
And there is a reasonable basis for Harris’ claim about Project 2025 wanting to give tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. The project’s proposals to significantly restructure the tax code include a reduction in the corporate income tax rate and ideas that would disproportionately benefit high earners. Trump’s own proposal to extend the expiring provisions of his 2017 tax cut law also favors wealthy people.
But contrary to Harris’ claim that “when you read” the Project 2025 document “you will see” that Trump intends to cut Social Security, the lengthy document includes no call to cut Social Security. In fact, the document uses the words “Social Security” just 10 times, mostly in passing. Vought said the document calls for “no changes to Social Security.”
Harris could fairly have noted that Trump himself has expressed openness, both in decades past and earlier this year, to cutting Social Security. When he was asked in a March interview about how he would handle Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, he said, “There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements.” (He has since vowed not to cut “one penny” from Social Security or Medicare.)
But what Harris actually said is that the proof of a supposed Trump intention to cut Social Security in a second term is found in the Project 2025 document. It is not.
No Project 2025 call to end the Affordable Care Act
Harris at least suggested at the rally, though did not explicitly say, that the Project 2025 document includes a call to end the Affordable Care Act and its protections for people with pre-existing conditions. But that’s not correct, either.
The document criticizes the budget impact of the Affordable Care Act’s expansion of the Medicaid health insurance program for lower-income people. It also explicitly calls for some changes to the Affordable Care Act – popularly known as Obamacare – or its implementation. Those suggested changes include removing restrictions on physician-owned and specialty hospitals, better enforcing a provision of the law related to how insurers must handle money related to abortion, and coming up with “a plan to separate the non-subsidized insurance market from the subsidized market.”
But the document makes no mention of changes to Affordable Care Act protections for people with pre-existing conditions. And its suggestions for changes to the law are clearly not suggestions to get rid of the law entirely. “It does not end the Affordable Care Act,” Vought said.
Trump himself repeatedly promised during his 2016 election campaign to “terminate” Obamacare and replace it with an unspecified superior plan, but failed to achieve his goal as president. In a social media post during this campaign, in November 2023, he said he was “seriously looking at alternatives” to Obamacare, criticized Republican senators who had voted “not to terminate” the law, and added that “we should never give up!”
Then, four days later, he wrote, “I don’t want to terminate Obamacare, I want to REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE. Obamacare Sucks!!!”
It is interesting to see even CNN report on the stated campaign strategy to simply lie to the American people and count on the gullibility of so many who will simply believe what they are told without doing any research on their own.
count on the gullibility of so many who will simply believe what they are told without doing any research on their own.
It’s a combination of gullibility and being too lazy to read a 900 page document.
They know their base. For every busy, harried young couple dealing with the demands of family and work, who don’t have the time (or energy) to seek out real journalism and just watch a couple of brain-killing hours of Complicit Agenda Media propaganda every week there are the malignant seekers of the ugly and dishonest who suck on the teats of these media and gleefully rush to regurgitate their intake to people who know better and simply don’t care what they are bleating about.
People don’t have to read the whole 900-page document. There are summaries that actually reflect the content (as opposed to the wholly dishonest Leftist claims about what it says) and there are reviews of what sane, normal, people find its strengths and weaknesses. It’s not that hard to get information from sources other than the Agenda Media—at least not for people who actually care about the facts, and about truth.
When CNN, of all sources, finds the lies of the Left so appalling that even they have to step up and point them out you get an idea of how egregious these lies are—-and how much more egregious they are going to become, as the Left’s bastardized Evil Twin Fake Project 2025 becomes the flag carrier for the Harris campaign.
A Harris campaign official said the campaign has “made a deliberate decision to brand all of Trump’s policies” as “Project 2025,” since they believe “it has stuck with voters.” Think about this. OK, in part it defines the utter cluelessness of Harris people and their lack of awareness of the foolishness of bragging about such a dishonest tactic, but in addition to that it comes right out and says that enough people have been fooled by the lies that they are going to build on this stupidity and make it a feature of their campaign. Boy, talk about insulting your base!
Harris campaign slogan: “We’re appealing to people stupid enough to believe us”.
I love Jeff Childers’ description of Biden’s farewell speech:
Some interesting developments as shown in an article, and in the comments section, on Zero Hedge: emphasis (bold font) not mine but from the article
Comments: On Kamala’s “blackness” and “Jamaican-born father and an Indian-born mother. The only Black DNA in Kamala was from Willie Brown.”
First CNN, now BLM. As the new cliche goes, neither was on my bingo card.
BLM emphasized:
OK, so they are implying that Harris is a “historic” candidate. Might be a typo, meaning “hysterical”, but OK, go with “historic”—that does not have to be a good thing. “Historic” in her sudden change in ethnic identification, suddenly realizing she is “black”, for example. “Historic” in having the lowest approval ratings and least productive vice presidency in memory. So many ways of being “historic”.
But BLM still has more to say:
And better.
Well, they’re a little late to the party on that “hypocrite” thing but good to know they’re catching up. And from a movement with a history of defying laws and norms it is a little odd to see this sudden passion for respect of process and lawful precedent so emphatically presented. It’s almost as if BLM doesn’t want Harris to be the candidate, without coming right out and saying “We don’t want Harris to be the candidate”.
James Woods has a great campaign sticker for a Harris/Buttigieg campaign:
#HarriButt
And another:
