Still out! On a bit of a vacation. I’m probably on the beach. So, can’t be topical on this one! Though I’m confident that the Democrats are still doing badly and Trump/GOP is doing well. But as I can’t be topical, I thought I’d point out that the Uniparty isn’t a new innovation.
In his What’s Wrong With the World?, Chesterton wrote The History of Hudge and Gudge to illustrate the way arguments between Right and Left go – and this was written in 1910 – but towards the end of the book he has this further to say about Hudge and Gudge:
And now, as this book is drawing to a close, I will whisper in the reader’s ear a horrible suspicion that has sometimes haunted me: the suspicion that Hudge and Gudge are secretly in partnership. That the quarrel they keep up in public is very much of a put-up job, and that the way in which they perpetually play into each other’s hands is not an everlasting coincidence. Gudge, the plutocrat, wants an anarchic industrialism; Hudge, the idealist, provides him with lyric praises of anarchy. Gudge wants women-workers because they are cheaper; Hudge calls the woman’s work “freedom to live her own life.” Gudge wants steady and obedient workmen, Hudge preaches teetotalism—to workmen, not to Gudge—Gudge wants a tame and timid population who will never take arms against tyranny; Hudge proves from Tolstoi that nobody must take arms against anything. Gudge is naturally a healthy and well-washed gentleman; Hudge earnestly preaches the perfection of Gudge’s washing to people who can’t practice it. Above all, Gudge rules by a coarse and cruel system of sacking and sweating and bi-sexual toil which is totally inconsistent with the free family and which is bound to destroy it; therefore Hudge, stretching out his arms to the universe with a prophetic smile, tells us that the family is something that we shall soon gloriously outgrow.
I do not know whether the partnership of Hudge and Gudge is conscious or unconscious. I only know that between them they still keep the common man homeless. I only know I still meet Jones walking the streets in the gray twilight, looking sadly at the poles and barriers and low red goblin lanterns which still guard the house which is none the less his because he has never been in it.
Politics has been called a game and it does have some game-like aspects, but for far too long – more than a century – those engaged in politics have treated it as just a game. They almost admire the other side for scoring a goal on them. But the thing is that politics is supposed to provide a government which secures the rights of the people. That is all its for. But our Ruling Class sees it differently. In the end, we find that neither Hudge nor Gudge really believe in anything but their own power and wealth. This is why Obama produced Obamacare which has made medical care more expensive and less accessible – and why McCain, after campaigning specifically on getting rid of Obamacare, voted to keep it. McCain has gone to his reward – but his family is still rich and prominent. It is dead certain that Obama, relaxing with the rich and powerful in carefully guarded enclaves, never even thinks about the poor SOB trying to find a doctor in network.
This is why Trump – and I think that now more than ever, Trump understands what he’s for. He is going to DC for us. To give us a voice at the councils of the powerful. To remind them that there are real people out there…and they’ve had enough.
Great post Mark and yes, between Americas two political parties, there is $34 trillion in debt, two raging world wars, an open border with sex and drug trafficking happening everyday, unaffordable mortgages, unaffordable rents, high cost of living, and a very angry and enflamed college class. The two political parties in America have damned near torn this country apart and how anyone can continue to support these two antiquated political paradigms is beyond me. But it’s not the system … it’s the people. Career politicians who abandon their constituents in favor of party leadership and globalist donors. They govern for themselves, and thats where the problems begin.
Take for example Sen. Mark Kelly of AZ who is mentioned as a possible VP pick for Momala. As an Arizonan, I honestly can’t think of one thing Kelly has done for Arizonans. He certainly hasn’t done anything on the border, and I don’t think he has even held one townhall to listen to constituents; he is just a vote for Chuck Schumer’s agenda, that is all. Both party leadership structures need to stop being so “top down” and controlling. We all know that freshman Congressman are damned near threatened with their careers if their votes stray from the party line, and that’s how the Mafia works … that shouldn’t be happening in Congress.
And this all takes me back to my Same Old Same Old—that is, we have gotten away from voting based on a choice of system to govern the nation, and gotten sucked into Identity Politics, which includes party loyalty.
I will say this for many/most conservatives: There is the foundation of a true analysis of the best way to govern the nation, and an often-repeated mantra that “I’m not a Republican, I’m a Conservative—but when I vote I have to vote Republican because it’s closer to my ideal than the alternative”.
I have yet to meet a Liberal/Progressive/Democrat who can (or at least will) say “I believe that the purpose of government is to take care of everyone in the nation, and in consolidation of power in the hands of a few elites who then govern by edict from the top down in a federal government that can expand beyond the restrictions of the Constitution to do whatever we say we want it to do”. No, they just automatically vote knee-jerk D no matter what.
I thought I’d point out that the Uniparty isn’t a new innovation.
Been the same for quite a long time. I suspect it’s going to take more than words and votes and promises to change things. To paraphrase another famous saying: if not Trump, who? If not now, when?”
This would make a good ad.
And this…

This could end up being one of the most entertaining presidential campaigns in recent memory.
I’m still trying to decide if the Republicans were brilliant in their Biden strategy or just plain dumb. I kept saying to just STFU about his dementia until after the Dem convention, because I saw no benefit in exchanging him for someone else and at the same time opening up the age question regarding Trump’s age. I was perfectly happy running against Joe Biden, knowing that the last four to six weeks before the election of starting to really hammer the dementia would be very effective.
I never understood the strategy of demanding impeachment, or any other effort to get rid of him. I understood the emotion but not the common sense.
We are talking about running against Harris and her record and defects, but we had not only Biden, the gift guaranteed to keep on giving, but we had Harris along with that. It was a double-barreled disaster for the Dems, and we insisted that they fix it and get rid of half of it, and give them some new attack anti-Trump themes while we were at it. Running against Biden took the topics of age and diminished cognition off the table, at least for the Dems. Now these are the themes they are hammering in claims against Trump. Biden hadn’t been gone five minutes before the obedient trolls were howling about Trump’s age, claiming he was asleep at various venues, claiming he was freezing up and/or slurring his words, etc—they took the observations of Biden and co-opted them, word for word, as soon as Biden was out of the picture.
And this.
In reading articles and comments I’m seeing the same basic attitude from Democrats:
“Yes, Kamala lied to us about Biden’s mental condition, but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
“Yes, Kamala lied to us about Project 2025 being about ending Social Security and Medicare, but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
“Yes, Kamala lied to us about not collecting money to get rioters out of jail but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
“Yes, Kamala lied to us when she repeatedly claimed Project 2025 is a Trump creation, but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
“Yes, the Harris campaign admits its strategy is to lie and claim that Project 2025 is by and about Trump because they are sure their base will believe them, but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
“Yes, Kamala lied to us about (fill in the blank) but that’s OK and I’m still going to vote for her”
Naturally, that leads to certain questions. Why don’t you care about being lied to? How many lies would it take? Is there any lie about any thing that would change your mind?
Aside from Obama, Kamala is the least experienced politician to ever be installed as a Presidential candidate. And that’s what Democrats do now, is in install. They no longer care what the base wants, and the base doesn’t seem to care either. It’s whatever candidate the Democrat elites prefer, is the candidate their base will support. That party is damn near full communist now.
It’s certainly full Leftist, if not actually Communist (government owns the means of production). It’s totally top-down, Central Authority rule by edict, with only a token nod to our Constitution if it seems necessary to pretend it has not been completely abandoned.
The parallels between Dem governance and that of Stalin are really stunning, from the Stalinist show trials to the edicts about taking experimental drugs to the arrogant discarding of even the pretense of letting voters choose their candidates, in addition to using government agencies and law enforcement to go after, intimidate, arrest and threaten political opponents.
in addition to using government agencies and law enforcement to go after, intimidate, arrest and threaten political opponents.
Well, THAT’s clearly not happening. That’s what Trump is going to do if he’s elected.//sarc.
Seriously, I hope the majority of voters see through that BS.
Wouldn’t you think that at least SOME of the Dem lemmings (Demmings?) would stop to think, just for a minute, “Wait—-he was in for four years and didn’t do any of those things. Why would he do them now?” Not even asking any of them to take that next scary step and think “Though that is exactly what we have been doing”.
Re: talking about Biden’s dementia. Trump and MAGA have been doing that for 3 years now simply based on observation. That’s not what removed Biden. It was the Democrats who realized they could no longer hide their demented President and they panicked. Hastily removing Biden and installing their next puppet.
they panicked. Hastily removing Biden and installing their next puppet.
Actually, they called Casper first and asked his opinion, and he said, “as long as I get Harris, I’m happy.”
Now THAT’S funny!
And I think we pushed really hard and made it impossible for the Left to pretend Biden was OK. Obviously, they knew about his problems, but I still think we should have let them think they could handle it, till after the convention. But we made it impossible for them, with all our howling about impeachment and the 25th Amendment and constant emphasis on his problems.
I just love it when Democrats rush in to make fools of themselves and Casper, of course, never disappoints.
Trump WILL debate Harris, and Trump WILL shred Harris. The problem right now dipshits, is that Harris IS NOT the nominee yet, nor does she have a running mate. There’s no one to debate until Democrats get their shit together.
Of course if I were Trump, I would give all of my time to Harris, because the more she speaks, the more Americans cringe and run.
Democrats are nothing if not entertaining. Now the term Border Czar as applied to Kamala Harris is a GOP construct. She was NEVER Border Czar. Come on, man! YCMTSU!
They are so used to just making stuff up, redefining words and rewriting history, that they haven’t yet caught up to the fact that the internet is forever, and more people see more stuff now than they ever have in all of history. Now instead of just reading a newspaper or two, we are inundated with information all day and well into the night. The Left can’t control information any more, as hard as they try to, so they have to depend on a base of truly gullible/stupid people who just blindly accept what they are told no matter what else they may have seen or heard.
One of the things I like about Conservative humor is that its not afraid to criticize its own.
An accurate depiction
This could/should be the motto of the blog. I know it is mine.
All we have to do is let Kamala talk. She is dumber than you Fielding, and I never thought that was possible.
No clue. How many times a day do you think of Trump? On a scale of 1-10 how deep is your obsession with him? Just curious
I don’t know. I’m not an obsessive little fuck like you.
There were two older men running for President. One of them was pushed to the side so they could install a more preferable candidate. The other one they tried to assassinate. Who are they? The CIA, the FBI, George Soros, and the Democrat Party.
You live in a weird little world dipshit. Just last week, Biden was saying he was “in it to win it”, but now that your betters have told you what to think, you fall right in line. Good job comrade. Now go attack some Jews. Democrats are good at that.
Racists will vote for Harris
Americans will vote for Trump
Too funny … Harris WILL get this country into WWIII. She is that stupid
https://www.axios.com/2024/07/26/israel-netanyahu-harris-ceasefire-hostage-deal-talks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was upset by Vice President Kamala Harris’ on-camera statement after their meeting and is concerned it will harm the negotiations over a Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal, an Israeli official said in a briefing with reporters.
The liberal hysteria on X is at defcom level 5. Their idolatry and expectations of Harris is comical. They are doing everything possible to prop up this vacuous husk of a female and extol her brilliance and wisdom so much so that I can’t wait until she lets them down. And she will. They are so shortsighted and propagandized that they simply refuse to acknowledge her extreme leftist positions already staked out, and of course her uncanny ability to make bad situations worse.
In the debate, Harris will push the black woman and abortion cards, while Trump destroys her simply with policy. Easy win
that they simply refuse to acknowledge her extreme leftist positions already staked out,
No, those have all gone in the memory hole.
They’re not even trying to make sense, evidently quite confident that their base will believe anything they are told no matter how silly it is. One example is how they have taken the entire Biden behavior pattern (except for pedophilia) and just flipped it over and applied it to Trump. Almost word for word. So now, on Planet Left, it’s Trump who can’t get out of bed till late, Trump who freezes in the middle of speeches or meetings, Trump who slurs his words, Trump who can’t read the teleprompter. They do know who they are pitching this to–they have kept all this information about Biden from their base, so when they hear this about Trump they don’t realize it’s recycled Biden info. But still, at some point even the lemmings have to start to catch on. Those few who care, anyway. The trolls don’t care, they just get off on the visceral thrills of saying these things, indifferent to their truth.
You wonder how they can slime someone like JD Vance, and then they show you. They don’t need a hook, a scintilla of fact they can embellish and elaborate on, not when they can just invent something out of whole cloth and get it out on social media. And the goofier and nastier the better. So they have invented a claim that Vance admitted to engaging in sexual activity with couch cushions. Forget the projection aspect—given the detail it’s pretty clear that the guy who came up with this used a personal memory and just changed the name—-the nature of this is just so utterly low class and stupid it had to come from the Left. And it did, and it still circulates, in spite of even Left-wing Snopes devoting several paragraphs to explaining it is not true, it is false, it is a lie.
Fact Check
No, JD Vance Did Not Say He Had Sex with Couch Cushions
A false online rumor about former U.S. President Donald Trump’s running mate, a latex glove and couch cushions spawned a number of jokes and memes.
…
This rumor was false. Vance’s memoir contained no such passage. Further, as KnowYourMeme.com reported, @rickrudescalves — who later protected his account so only followers could see his posts — “signaled that he was joking when he followed up the tweet with the Go on the Internet and Tell Lies meme.
Even though the rumor about Vance and couch cushions was false, some users still shared the claim as if it were true.
Just as we are surprised to see CNN admit that Harris has been lying, even low-class Colbert has admitted this is a hoax:
Colbert shouted out the Associated Press for bringing the Vance-couch conversation into the public sphere via a fact-check article titled “No, J.D. Vance Did Not Have Sex With a Couch.” The rumor, Colbert explained, was spread by various social media accounts alleging that Vance described having sex with a couch in his book, Hillbilly Elegy. The internet has run wild with the made-up claim, with more and more people making memes and jokes about Vance’s supposed predilection for plush furniture.
But gee, the taste of this just has so much appeal to a certain mentality that some just can’t let it go.
So why talk about facts, why talk about policy, why talk about the best blueprint for governing the nation and who is most likely to follow it, when there is all this snide, salacious, smirky story-telling that is so much more compatible with a certain kind of mind and personality?
Fact Check
No, JD Vance Did Not Say He Had Sex with Couch Cushions
I wondered what the hell Fielding was talking about. I see his disgusting comment has been deleted. Fielding, why don’t you find a nice dumpster to play in.
Fielding, et al, want to turn this blog into a dumpster. Or, more accurately, a latrine. I don’t understand their obsession with this site. Obviously Fielding has spent his entire adult life being the turd in the punchbowl, but his determination to showcase this dubious achievement is truly puzzling.
Harris will push the black woman and abortion cards,
Well, she’s only been black since 2020, and I’d like Trump to point out that “abortion is in no way part of presidential authority so there is no reason for him to talk about it, and for that matter it isn’t a federal matter either. Read the 10th Amendment and quit asking me about this.”
They take care of their own
US Government Agrees to Pay Peter Strzok $1.2 Million in Lawsuit Settlement Over Release of Anti-Trump Text Messages
But THIS is what they do to their political adversaries who are guilty of nothing more than a misdemeanor.
Words can’t describe how much contempt I have for the Democrat Party.
Part of me wants Trump, after he takes office in January, to seek revenge on every Democrat who took part in persecuting his or her political opponents, but the Christian side of me says no, this has to stop, because if it doesn’t we’ll eventually be shooting each other in the streets. I sense that Trump gets this as well.
I think you might be mixing up a couple of concepts, and applying “revenge” to “justice”. When someone breaks a law, prosecution is not “revenge” but an effort to provide guardrails on society by creating negative consequences for actions that destabilize society.
So I think we need to put those Democrats who took part in persecuting Trump and his supporters in different categories. That is, I would not support going after the talking heads on television, no matter how vicious and vile and toxic they are, no matter how much damage they have done to the fabric of society, because in the overall scheme of things they are mere noise. On the other hand, regarding those who used the power and authority of their positions in government to gain and keep political power, they should be prosecuted—-not persecuted—-to the maximum extent allowed by the law. That would include every single government official who used the power or influence conveyed by his or her office to manipulate our system for personal/political gain. And if no specific law was broken—as we saw in Wray’s shameful effort to keep the FBI on top of election-rigging by adding to the divisiveness in this country—then at the very least those people should be fired.
That’s not revenge—that’s the equivalent of flushing a toilet.
It’s not all big and blatant abuse of power, but it’s all corrosive. A good example is the bureaucrat who unilaterally changed the rules regarding whistleblowers to provide cover for the people who violated laws of confidentiality to talk about Trump’s phone conversation with Zelensky. That was a little behind-the-scenes tweak that got little attention in the overall hysteria that followed, but that unethical partisan bureaucrat changed a rule and in so doing allowed a huge firestorm to develop. Would I go after that guy, even so many years later? You’re damned right I would. Would it be “revenge”? Though it would be gratifying, that would not be the motive. The motive would be to establish a foundation of carefully thought-out laws and rules designed to provide those guardrails I mentioned, to provide objective frameworks for the structures of our agencies. When those frameworks can be altered at will to accommodate a current agenda, they are either useless and we shouldn’t have any at all, or those who did alter them should be held accountable.
I’ll go with Amazona – justice isn’t revenge.
Unless, of course, it is. But in my view, if we ruthlessly prosecute those who went after Trump it isn’t mere revenge: it is Justice, as such. And necessary – our society cannot function if those who went after Trump and his people are let off.
The goal is less to “punish” than to eliminate the atmosphere in which it flourished and do whatever we can to keep it from developing again. Removing the source is one part, and another is establishing a clear and threatening consequence for repetition. The goal is deterrence more than revenge.
Every aspect of how these people were treated was a violation of their civil rights. Every one. From the cruel and unusual punishment like solitary confinement to the lack of a speedy trial to the denial of legal representation, these are a litany of gross and blatant violations of Constitutionally guaranteed rights.
Every single person who contributed to these violations of those rights should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in federal courts, as violation of civil rights is a federal offense. There has never been any question that this was a political persecution and should be treated as such.
If the government can pay scum like Strzok more than a million dollars, after he violated the law, every J6 defendant is owed tens of millions of dollars plus a national apology and anything else this nation can to do try to compensate them for what they went through.
I think you might be mixing up a couple of concepts, and applying “revenge” to “justice”.
Point taken – and nicely articulated.
That’s not revenge—that’s the equivalent of flushing a toilet.
That ties into what I was going to say about yesterday’s since-deleted troll comments about how deleting their comments amounted to the very censorship that we Conservatives decry. To that I say, no. deleting their disgusting comments is no different that when your neighbor’s dog shits in your yard, and you clean it up and throw it in the trashcan.
Your analogy about picking up dog shit is very appropriate.
Except it IS sort of an insult to dog shit.
For a couple of decades now casper has been the poor schlub always hanging around on the perimeter, trying to be included, but he was benign though terribly misguided.
He’s gone through a change, though, which I speculated might be due to his leaving the somewhat moderating environments of his school and conservative community and going to a hotbed of Liberal insanity, Hawaii, where he has let his Inner Radical take over. All I know is that he has become more strident and less rational, insistently dumping really insane goofball Morning Joe quality crap here.
Even so, he doesn’t come close to the dedication to sheer nastiness evinced by his fellow trolls, who don’t even try to advance any political content but clearly just want to see how offensive they can be. They have also been around for a couple of decades, obsessed with this blog and its long-time contributors, never achieving more significance than mosquitos, annoying but easily swatted.
That’s funny, I mean REALLY funny. My neighbor two doors down is a Psychiatrist, even has his own weekly show on PBS. We go to the same church and text, email, and interact in person pretty much daily. I’ve been sharing your posts for the last couple of weeks along with Amazona’s analysis. He says her Analysis is pretty accurate, especially in light of the fact that she’s NOT a mental health professional. His personal comment was (I’m paraphrasing) this Casper fellow seem to be utterly clueless about how goofy and irrational he sounds.
…utterly clueless about how goofy and irrational he sounds….
I’ve known a few caspers, and always wondered how they could be so adamant in their screwed-up view of the world. There is absolutely no way that anyone can objectively observe what is going on around us and come to the conclusions casper and his fellow travelers have come to, and his arguments, such as they are, have degenerated into nothing more than claiming that Donald Trump is exhibiting the same behaviors he defended in Joe Biden. His relentless regurgitation of Morning Joe talking points has become sad and pathetic, showing his alleged “political” positions to be unserious attractions to superficial personality quirks and the Politics of Personal Destruction.
For a couple of decades now casper has been the poor schlub always hanging around on the perimeter
He’s kind of like our pet schlub.
He’s kind of like our pet schlub. Too bad he’s not housebroken. His random stinky messes are pretty annoying.
If this is an example of what’s to come in the campaign, I’m going to need a LOT MORE POPCORN!
You beat me to it!
Great minds think alike. We’ve talked about how Joe Biden was the gift that keeps on giving. Kamala Harris is going to take that concept to new heights (or lows, depending on your POV).
No, that building 150 yards away is outside the 500 yard perimeter
On the plus side, when the SHTF the Secret Service isn’t going to be a threat to the average American.
