Election Day Open Thread

I fell asleep on the family room chair last night at about 9 pm – just been doing a lot of running around of late and got a bit worn out. Normally, I can never fall asleep any place outside a bed. But I woke up at near midnight and got myself into bed and then slept soundly until 5:30 am. I woke up. Brushed my teeth. Put on some coffee. Opened up X…and then saw this:

He goes on to note that every metric of the election is more favorable to Trump than in either 2016 (when he narrowly won) or 2020 (when he narrowly lost). Which is pretty much what we’ve been saying here. Still not a done deal, of course; it is just the start of election day and maybe a Blue Tsunami suddenly shows up here to alter this…but I have my doubts such a thing will happen.

Not much to say, now. Go vote if you haven’t! Drag a friend with you! Unless its a liberal friend.

UPDATE: LOL at Selzer and her Harris +3 Iowa poll.

UPDATE II: I think Casper’s prediction of 350 EV’s for Harris will fall a little short.

WE DID IT!!!!

WE WON!!!

YUGE turnout today and I have to think that favors the “change candidate” and not the incumbent. Dixville Notch, NH gave us an early indication. Usually a reliable vote for Democrats … they split 3/3 this morning. Could be a good sign

Looking good in a lot of places but until its counted, we just can’t be sure!

We’ll know well enough in about 3 and a half hours.

My former congressman, Marlin Stutzman, who gave up his seat to run for Senate in 2016 (lost to Todd Young in the primary), just won his old seat back (3rd District, Indiana) tonight, and had the distinction of being the first race called in the entire country. Interestingly, the man who has occupied that seat for the last 8 years, Jim Banks, handily won his bid to replace Mike Braun in the Senate, and Braun handily won the race for Indiana governor. Indiana was also the first or second state called for Trump, so an all-around good night for Indiana.

Is Commiela starting to creep up on that 350 EC vote casper has been touting, over and over for so long? Because I’m not seeing it.

      OTOH, there is this:

Osceola County in FL has one of the largest populations of Puerto Ricans outside of Puerto Rico.

      Trump flipped it.

Remember when the media cried for a week about a joke about Puerto Rico and said it would lose Trump votes?

And after taking Georgia and North Carolina he has a very good shot at taking Pennsylvania.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona November 5, 2024 / 10:33 pm

Guy Benson writes: Florida is our first big polling miss of the night. RCP averages had Trump +8 and Rick Scott +4.5. They’re now each likely to win by 12+ points. Trump EC votes are now estimated at 194 to Harris’s 95, with Pennsylvania not yet counted and the Iron Range still up for grabs.

BREAKING: NEW YORK TIMES PREDICTS TRUMP WILL WIN THE POPULAR VOTE

That’s not going to make it easy for Kamala to get to casper’s 350 EC prediction.

    • Cluster's avatar Cluster November 5, 2024 / 11:52 pm

It’s looking good for Trump. NYT has him at an 86% chance to win the EC too

I’ve been watching Louder With Crowder and really like the job they are doing. I don’t watch shows like this but I might start to watch Steven Crowder. He is really smart and funny and a lot easier to watch than Joe Rogan. The election coverage has been very good and insightful.

There is some consolation for Casper; that dimwit, Mazie Horono, won re-election to the Senate in Hawaii.

Good point. She also fills him with joy, no doubt, as he was gleeful at being compared to her.

This is a big win and is significant for taking back the senate.

  6. jdge's avatar jdge1 November 6, 2024 / 2:28 am

It appears official. Trump now has 270 EC, and is carrying the majority vote as well.

    • jdge's avatar jdge1 November 6, 2024 / 2:32 am

WE also now have a lock on the senate with 51 with strong looks to flip both PA and WI.

You had to know this was coming:

    • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan November 6, 2024 / 10:33 am

Everyone is noticing that Harris is coming in about 15 million votes short of 2020…that will shrink a bit as CA counts but its clear that the cheat in 2020 was MASSIVE

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona November 6, 2024 / 11:40 am

I just commented on that before seeing this. Yes, it couldn’t be more obvious.

I’m still stunned that Harris got as many EC votes as she did. The country passed its IQ test but it showed there is still a deep well of stupid.

I’ve seen sour grapes before, but this analysis takes the cake.

Suck it up, buttercup, or better yet, you can go out and burn down a blue city.

    • jdge's avatar jdge1 November 6, 2024 / 10:28 am

This guy is delusional on so many levels, but considering… He wonders how/why 10 million votes disappeared from last election in a “historic” turnout trending heavily for a candidate who never left his basement during the campaign season. Gee, how could that happen? Guess they can’t let Mr. Gaffe show his true colors. It looks to me like the current RNC did a terrific job in preparing poll watchers and being ready to contest irregularities.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona November 6, 2024 / 11:39 am

He must be desperately hoping no one realized that these are not real votes that “disappeared” but the fake votes concocted by the Left to push Biden across the finish line. When they couldn’t repeat the massive steal of 2020 that imaginary voting bloc just “disappeared”.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona November 6, 2024 / 2:13 pm

      Poor Chris Graham, wallowing in his own toxic stew of irrational hatred and forced to live with the fact that more than half of the country doesn’t agree with him. As he whines;

Too many of them know that Trump, easily the crudest man to ever hold public office, at any level, in the history of these United States, is utterly unqualified to serve as a small-town dogcatcher, much less be elected to a second term as the leader of the country.

We had the votes to end the decade-long national nightmare that Trump and his supporters have wrought.

At least we did four years ago.

Well, as “easily the crudest man to ever hold public office, at any level, in the history of these United States” (as he refuses to pass up a shot at shrill hysterical hyperbole) for the title of “crudest man to ever hold public office” we could start with LBJ, the most publicly potty-mouthed president ever, who used to make his aides confer with him while he sat on the toilet. But he was a Democrat, who stole credit for getting the Civil Rights Act passed (after vetoing it several times) so that’s cool. Describing the insulting treatment some women will tolerate from men they are offering themselves to based on the status or wealth or fame of the men is by far more damning evidence of the “crudeness” that has Chris clutching his pearls.

Chris also seems to know of small towns where the dogcatchers are qualified to run international business enterprises. (He probably has them in his Sims games.) And with all the alleged trauma of having lived through this decade-long national nightmare that Trump and his supporters have wrought he just skips right past the fact that all of the drama, the melodrama, the “nightmare” aspect of everything that happened was generated by the Left in frantic efforts to keep Trump from dismantling its power base of the Bureaucratic State.

But he accidentally, I am sure, trips over a fact that is one of the most important takeaways of this election outcome. He says In other words, he wins because he got pretty much the same number of votes as he did in 2020, just in a much smaller electorate in 2024 (emphasis mine). What he is not getting is that this is not a “much smaller electorate” but a “much smaller source of bogus votes”.

Kamala did not even match Biden’s 2020 numbers in any county. Let that sink in. Even the bluest counties in America voted for Kamala less enthusiastically in 2024 than they voted for Biden in 2020.

Jake Tapper exclaimed, “Holy smokes! Literally nothing? Literally not one county?” Correct. Literally not one county. It’s almost like Biden’s numbers were fake.

Go ahead and finish that thought: It’s almost like the EXCITEMENT and JOY Kamala’s campaign tried to desperately to wrap her pathetic campaign in were also fake, along with the “rallies” dependent on bused-in shills and promises of free concerts.

I wonder if the Dems are wondering if they would have been better off with Dementia Joe ’24, after their success with Basement Joe ’20, but then I stop to consider the impact of the Republican battle against election fraud and that without the ability to generate “votes” nothing could really overcome the deficiencies of either candidate.

Got about 3 hours sleep last night lol but fired up. I can’t wait to see what Trump, Elon, RFK, Gabbard, and Vance can get done. That’s the dream team of politics. The next 4 years will be amazing.

This is the spin on the Trump victory:

Disappointed Harris voters conclude America hates women as Trump defeats second female rival

Democrat-voting Americans say they feel reaffirmed in their belief that most of the United States would rather anyone else as president than a woman after Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

And so it begins—the whining, the excuses, the deflections, the delusions. But then, to BE a Harris voter demanded actively exercising all of these.

And, of course, this is the kind of pap you expect from Yahoo “News”.

we hate THOSE specific women. I’m quite fond of women in general. But to borrow a phrase, “Garbage people are garbage people, and that includes the Hildabeast and Kamalalala ding-dong.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona November 6, 2024 / 2:21 pm

The thing is, they define “hatred of women” so narrowly. In this particular context it is the claim that Hillary and Kamala lost BECAUSE THEY ARE WOMEN.

They also spin off in other comments to the conviction that if we respect the inherent ability of women to exhibit integrity, courage, resilience and character instead of claiming they are by their very nature too weak to tolerate the unbearable and devastating experience of carrying the babies they created in their pursuit of sexual pleasure and must—-MUST!! I TELL YOU!—-not only be allowed to kill those children but must be given the illusion of virtue in doing (“it’s a RIGHT!!”) that is proof that we really hate women.

Joyless Reid just bemoaned the results of people voting “more on party line or more on race than on gender”. She doesn’t decry voting on the other two Identity Politics standbys, just complains that “that message” (that Trump has or will somehow take away abortion access) “was not enough to get enough white women to vote for….another woman” and then complains that some people vote “more on party line or more on race than on gender”, which is an open admission of advocating for voting based on race, as well as on gender.

She comes right out in defense of Identity Politics, of basing votes on race and gender, and of course has to throw in the obligatory “racisss” snarl about white women. She never makes much sense but appears to be upset that the election was lost due to the racism of white women and their refusal to look past their racism to vote for gender.

Doctor Malone (who deserves to be recognized as one of the new heroes of this time) has a great post to his site and includes quotations from two of JFK’s best speeches. Two excerpts:

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger.

…. unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

To this I would add “unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing” of our Constitutional model of government and the security and sovereignty of our nation.
