Team Trump is asserting that they will be working to end “birthright citizenship”. This is the concept that if you are born in American territory, you are American. The argument in favor of this is the wording of the 14th Amendment which goes: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside”. This is held to mean that in 1868, an Amendment to ensure that black Americans who had been cruelly denied their rights as citizens applies to Juanita in Chiapas who boards a bus for Juarez, crosses illegally into El Paso and has a kid.
Yeah, no. Don’t think so. The Constitution isn’t a suicide pact. I’m a strict constructionist…original intent and all that. There was no intent to make “anchor babies” a thing. It wasn’t even in mind as the Amendment was proposed, passed and ratified. There was no court case on it – we don’t have, for instance, a court case from 1880 where a person illegally in the USA is arguing their American-born child is American. It wasn’t even a concept until about 40 years ago. This is mostly because travel used to be far more difficult and pregnant women wouldn’t often travel as their condition wasn’t conducive to arduous travel. But when you can now fly cheaply many thousands of miles in a few hours…here we go.
To hold that the 14th means we must allow “anchor babies” is as stupid as saying that a law legalizing interracial marriage means two boys can get married. Sure, this is basically what Obergefell held…but that was one of the most monumentally stupid decisions the Court has ever rendered. This has nothing to do with the merits of same sex marriage – maybe it is something we should do? But to apply laws written without the subject in mind is just asinine. Anchor babies and SSM were new subjects that no law, prior to them being brought up, covered. In the case of SSM, the Court should have ruled: sort it out via the political process. Because no law of the USA prior to the concept of SSM covered SSM – and this includes, of course, the Constitution of the USA which, being silent on the matter, leaves its resolution to the States, or the people. So, too, “anchor babies” – no law of the USA covers it, so any laws about it will have to be made on the fly and if you really want “anchor babies” to be American citizens because of the plot of dirt they were born on, amend the Constitution…don’t try to bootstrap it on to something never intended for it.
Assad’s regime in Syria has collapsed and the usual collection of Neo-Con warmongers and Liberal idiots is cheering. We pray for the people there and hope that we get a miracle…but what we’re likely to get is a massacre.
Good to keep in mind that Syria isn’t a country. It is a geographic expression. The people who reside in the borders of Syria are very different groups, some of whom hate each other with a passion. Assad is Alawite and his faction has dominated Syria since the early 1970s…as a sort of 3 million person Alawite Empire lording it over the other 22 million people there…though the Christians and Druze of Syria have tended to favor Alawite rule as it is far less oppressive than other Muslim rule (Alawites are a bit of a bizarre Muslim sect held by many Muslims to be heretical…some even consider them idolators). The Alawites were long heavily suppressed by other Muslims (especially the Turks during the Ottoman Empire) but when the French took over Syria in 1918, they tended to favor the Alawites and so, post-French rule, the Alawites were best positioned to take over.
As you can see just in that short paragraph, this isn’t going to be a cut and dried thing. The rebels are not fighting for a free Syria where are all afforded equal rights – they just want to be in charge. The only possible saving grace here is that the rebels are a coalition and maybe none of them are strong enough to totally dominate…that might provide some wiggle room to avoid disaster. But there is a massive danger that this is going to degenerate into tribal score-settling and that means Alawites, Christians and Druze are in for a very bad time.
I talked about this a few days ago – about how we live in the land of make-believe. And a price will now be extracted for the world pretending that Syria was a country…rather than several countries that want nothing to do with each other and so, upon independence, what should have done was to break it up into its ethnic components, including population transfers to avoid having oppressed minorities. Had the real world been lived in then what we call Syria today would be at least 5 nations including 1 Christian and 1 Druze and nobody would have been dying all this time. Side note: there is an even money chance that American intel people fostered this Assad collapse just to toss a problem for Trump to deal with.
But what I have seen has been references to children born here to parents who are here illegally. The anchor baby issue applies to all children born here to non-citizen parents even if they are here legally. Even if they live here legally.

We need to follow through on the anchor baby topic to illustrate the breadth and depth of the Left’s strategy to take over the country. The Left wants/needs the illusion of legitimacy an election would give them, so their long-range, multi-level plans have all been directed at rigging future elections.
We look at the de facto invitation by the Left to people from all over the world to come here, cross our borders illegally, and essentially invade our country. They are promised amnesty for their crimes, food, housing, money, medical care, education for their children, and eventual citizenship, while simultaneously putting such an immense burden on our economy that it cannot sustain itself without a major correction. We are gulled into looking at these issues as discrete, individual problems, without taking the 30,000 foot perspective and seeing the interconnection among these problems and their unifying pattern.
So far, illegals are not able to legally vote. But they CAN, and do, influence the balance of legislation in Congress, by being counted in the census and therefore contributing to the number of Representatives for each state. This is a way to gain more Democrats in the House, a subtle but effective way to game our system.
In the meantime, they contribute to the destabilization of our society and culture that is so essential to Leftist gains in power. Their impact on our schools is immense, with many classrooms becoming essentially useless as the number of uneducated students with no English language skills overwhelm the classes and the native Americans can’t be taught effectively. This also places a huge economic burden on the schools. Their impact on our health care system is even more dramatic, with hospitals swamped past their capacity to effectively treat people and citizens being caught in the overflow as treatments are delayed or denied due to the demands on the system..
The economic burden goes through our entire system, as literally billions of dollars are siphoned out of our treasury, usually by increasing our debt, to pay for housing, feeding and generally taking care of dependent illegals. This is an excellent example of the strategies of Cloward and Piven at work, as the eventual effect of this has to be collapse of the systems so overloaded.
A society in emotional and economic chaos is ripe for the picking of the predatory Left. The parallel efforts of the Left to destabilize our society through its emotion-based social warfare, such as its new transgender focus, will only contribute to the overall sense of chaos and anger and resentment that are the nutrients of a Leftist coup, whether violent or through rigged elections.
We are directed, by the Complicit Agenda Media, to focus on the possibility of allowing these illegals to gain citizenship and thereby to be able to vote. But this is a shell game, to distract us from the fact that the 14th Amendment as currently interpreted is allowing these illegals to produce children who are accepted as citizens the moment they are born. (And eventually these “citizen” children will be used to support naturalization of their illegal immigrant parents.) In other words, there are two ways to shift the balance of the electorate through illegal immigration—-by handing out citizenship to those who are here illegally, a potential future problem, and by letting them breed young citizens in the meantime.
There may, or may not, be support for illegal immigration by some industries because of the labor force it may represent, but I think the overwhelming majority of support is wholly political, with the eventual goal of taking over the country electorally if not physically.
I think we need to look at the many ways the Left can, and does, rig elections. Just look at the policies they ferociously defend, such as open primaries, and their even more ferocious battles to impede examination of questioned elections.
Every single policy promoted by the Left that is associated with elections is designed to inhibit the ability of American citizens to have free and fair elections. And then there are the actions that don’t represent official policy, such as the collusion of federal agencies to hide important information from the voting public, such as information about the Biden Crime Family, and the shift of most of our media to merely becoming propaganda arms of the Left.
Looking beyond the obvious issues of ballot fraud, there are policies the Left promotes and defends.
(1) Open primaries. This practice essentially allows the Left to choose our candidates for us. When Democrats can vote for their preference for the Republican candidate, they are hardly likely to choose the one that presents the greatest challenge to their own. It’s like letting a Super Bowl team choose the quarterback for the opposing team and then explaining the choice of the second-string kicker as a “triumph of democracy”.
(2) Ranked choice voting. It’s a cumbersome and complicated system and easily manipulated by flooding the election with names from one party, as eventually all those votes will become assigned to the candidate the party wants. This is how Sarah Palin was defeated in her Alaska House run.
In Alaska, under ranked voting, ballots are counted in rounds: A candidate can win outright during the first round of counting if they receive more than 50% of the vote. If no one hits that threshold, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated. Voters who chose that candidate as their top pick have their votes count for their next choice. Rounds continue until two candidates remain, and then whoever has the most votes wins. It’s kind of an ugly second primary as a voter votes less for his or her real preference and more for the preferred candidate but then kinda maybe for his or her second or third choice no matter how tepid the support for that candidate might be. If he only votes for one candidate and that candidate is eliminated, his vote is thrown out because it is for someone no longer in the race.
Tom Cotton described the Alaska outcome: “Ranked-choice voting is a scam to rig elections,” Cotton wrote. “60% of Alaska voters voted for a Republican, but thanks to a convoluted process and ballot exhaustion—which disenfranchises voters—a Democrat ‘won.'” (“Ballot exhaustion”—in this case, 20% of those voting for Palin’s Republican opponent did not vote for a second choice so their votes just disappeared. If they had listed her as their next choice their votes would have gone to her.)
(3) Counting illegals in the census. This allows the Left to pack Democrat districts with enough illegals to add to the population tally and allow for an additional member of the House of Representatives.
(4) Mail-in voting Especially when the state allows for extended periods to count mailed ballots this is a recipe for ballot fraud. From accepting illegitimate envelopes which do not have signatures or postmarks or timely delivery all the way up to claiming extended periods in which to count mailed ballots, this is a system which allows for evaluation of the number of votes necessary to win and creation of those ballots. It also contributes to the serious problem of lack of chain of custody of ballots. A ballot is entered into the postal system, often without a request from the registered voter to have a ballot sent. At that point its delivery to a registered voter is far from guaranteed, as is its security, as there are many ways it can be taken and used illegally. Then there is the issue of handling mailed-in ballots, ranging from acceptance of illegal ballots to illegally extending the acceptance period to the possibility of creating illegal ballots long after the election has ended. And all of these problems begin with the practice of accepting voter registration rolls which have not been purged of dead voters, voters who have moved, people never legally allowed to vote, etc.
(5) Rejection of same-day in-person voting with government-issued photo ID to verify identity This is the most secure method of insuring a fraud-free election, and it is fiercely fought by the Left.
It’s not hard to see a pattern of Leftist efforts to control and manipulate our electoral process through various ways, and the logical response to this is to ask “Why?” And I think the answer is clear. It is the only way they can take over control of the country.
Daniel Penny found not guilty of the lesser charge after a hung jury on the more serious charge. This seems particularly odd. Often times the DA will attempt to prosecute 2 charges, expecting the potential of the more serious charge getting defeated but then getting the defendant on the lesser charge. It’s rigged into the system to be able to claim a conviction. But in the case of Penny, the jury actually acquitted him of the lesser charge. Not sure if the DA can attempt another trial given this quasi decision.
Not only do I not expect a re-run at this stinker of a prosecution, I think the possibility of some action against those who wasted millions of dollars of taxpayer money in their effort to destroy a hero for racist and political reasons might have them feeling a little skittish. Penny might have a legitimate basis for a suit against the city and county, naming names and pointing out the serious defects in their case and its blatant effort to pander to the racist Left.
Not to mention the embarrassment of trying to prosecute a man for an action considered to be possibly worthy of a national medal of honor for heroism. And the mayor of NYC stating that Penny only did what the city “should have done”.
Bragg’s humiliation couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, and I hope it’s just the first of many.
And now acquitted on the lesser charge. Justice is sorta being done here – he shouldn’t even have been charged. And I do hope that Trump’s DOJ looks into this as a case of conspiracy to deny civil rights (the prosecutor referring to Penny as “the white man” and the fact that the DA’s office dropped all charges against a black man who killed a different subway cretin being evidence that they went after Penny because he’s white).
I’m curious if this jury verdict will have any impact on the civil charges Neely’s father is chasing, which has a lower threshold burden of proof – preponderance of evidence, as opposed to – beyond reasonable doubt. However, in civil cases, jail time and the death penalty are never potential consequences.
The medical examiner’s expert opinion that Neely’s death was not caused by a chokehold ought to have some impact, but then this is New York and this is a racial issue exacerbated by the Usual Suspects in race-baiting so common sense is not guaranteed.
I suppose Neely’s father is so greedy and racist that he is happy to have his son’s history dragged out in court, portraying him as the scum-sucking bottom feeder he was.
Watched some of the Patriot Awards last night on Fox Nation. It was inspiring to see everyday heroes being recognized for their selfless actions in pursuit of the greater good. We need more of this. I think it will help swing the pendulum of constant leftist tripe, allowing today’s youth to see good role models in action, and helping them understand the value of service to others in action, not just mindless platitudes we so often see from those who try to claim moral superiority without having actually done anything.
The entire appeal of the Left is its promise that it conveys moral superiority merely for saying certain things and taking certain positions. Its appeal used to be to those who considered themselves “intellectuals” by posturing as the modern, progressive, intellectual, approach to governance. This has been its appeal to Jews, who traditionally revere the status of intellectual superiority. But it has shifted away from that to the much easier approach of pandering to people who just want to be able to signal their presumed virtue without ever having to do anything, or at the most merely having to pay lip service to policies identified for them as “virtuous”.
The irony that this so often results in their acting in ways that are the antithesis of virtue seems to go right over their heads.
I guess I will have to stick with yellow Peeps from now on.
BTW, this story is just the latest in the general category of “Elections have consequences”. Suddenly all sorts of people and companies are scurrying to get ahead of feared Trump Administration policies. Which brings up the obvious question of why, if these policies are so harmful they face attention in the new administration were they still in effect?

I am reminded of the story of a 19th century British admiral (can’t recall his name) who was sent out to protect British subjects in the Levant during one of the periodic bouts of ethno-religious violence…he goes ashore with a few tars right into the center of the savages. They were literally carrying bloodstained swords and knives as he stepped on to the dock. The admiral looks around, stroked his beard.
“Ok, let us begin: tells these savages that we’ll have no more of this beastly business.”
And they stopped – they were faced with a man. A real man. He was going to kill them all if they didn’t stop…and so they stopped.
That’s what we need. What we don’t have. Which I wonder if we even have the spirit to do any longer.

As I remember the story, the terrorist smirked. Then Trump pulled out a photo of the man’s house, put it on the table in front of him, and walked out of the room. And the attacks stopped.
Yep – need just that sort of quiet determination.

I’m sure you saw the video yesterday of the BLM leaders shrieking about Penny’s acquittal…as I watched those idiots I got so damned angry. Complete zero people who contribute nothing; spreading hatred so they can get fat off of tax-free donations.
The racism thing is done. We’re not buying what they’re selling anymore. It is time for some real Civil Rights enforcement…including our right to have a quiet, clean and orderly public square.
I think, though, that this is an inherently suicidal effort. What these people are really saying is that people should simply submit, meekly, to the predations of black people, who are entitled to attack, rob, maim and murder anyone they choose because they are black.
This is a self-limiting message, as the more often it is used the more it backfires as more people realize that these “protestors” are really defining black people as inferior and as people who cannot be treated as equals. When your argument is that a black man should be allowed to return to the streets after multiple arrests and then not subdued when he threatens to kill people, BECAUSE HE IS BLACK, you are shooting down any potential arguments that black people should be respected because your argument is that they should be held to a lesser standard than civilized people, if to any standard at all.
