The World is Insane Because We Allow it to Be

Good post on X – read the whole thing but here’s the crucial part of it:

The “civilized” world has insulated itself in rules and laws and higher-than-thou “morals” that the enemies of everybody simply do not share, don’t care for, and do not have holding them back.

I’ve often thought of writing in depth about the French war in Algeria because it keeps popping back up in my head as the world burns as the turning point…the time when the world decided to stop defending civilization. As I’ve noted before, the primary tactics of the anti-French FLN were the torture/rape/murder of Algerians who didn’t back them and the setting of bombs in French Pied Noir cafes. Faced with this, the French army got a bit vigorous in response…but never got close to the brutality of the FLN. The world took a close look at this (ie, put on a blindfold so they couldn’t actually see anything) and declared that the French were the bad guys…an assertion the French Ruling Class (under De Gaulle of all people!) went along with. Presto – it now became accepted in the world that if you want to beat the West, be absolute savages and they’ll eventually not only quit, but pretend that you’re not savages. They’ll give you money. Seats at the UN. You’ll be placed in charge of human rights commissions!

Do keep in mind that our “higher-than-thou” morals got a woman set afire on the NYC subway yesterday. You’d think that we’d eventually reach a limit that even our Ruling Class won’t go beyond but you’d be wrong – this morning Nate Silver was out with a post saying that, “hey, NYC actually has a relatively low crime rate so what’s the fuss if the odd lunatic thing happens?”. I’m paraphrasing but I’m not at all kidding. They’ve gone so far into “higher-than-thou” that they’re actually saying that a torching or two of a human being is just one of those things that happens…really, really think about that. They only say this, of course, because they are confident they will never be the person burned alive…never be the person who’s child is kidnapped, raped and murdered…never be the person who has to live in an apartment complex taken over by a criminal gang…

Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s intern commuted the death sentences of 37 of the 40 federal death row inmates. The 3 who are still to get whacked? It seems that their real crime – the unforgivable thing – is that their crimes including crimes against Diversity. Murdering two kids, not getting credit for it so you then go and try to murder more? That gets a commutation. The intern put it out that Joe, in good conscience, couldn’t allow Trump to sign the death warrants. Don’t try to make sense of it – there is no sense in it. Whether you’re opposed to the death penalty or not this action was just absurd. They could have been commuted last year if making sure death isn’t applied is right…and if you really thought that death wasn’t appropriate, then you’d commute all 40. Its just raw insanity…it is just what the Ruling Class is like. You know, like Governor Hochul lauding the security cameras for catching the torch-a-passenger guy without mentioning that he’s an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city and State.

We are so very close to complete societal collapse – it might not seem like it, but keep in mind that these things are always “slowly, and then all at once”. Had we not elected Trump last month, I’m not sure we would have got through the next four years. It is still not certain we will…depends on how effective the new Team Trump is. But Trump is already injecting reality back into the mix. Lot of people made a lot of funny jokes about his statements on Panama, but Trump just entered the real world there…and is dragging us with him. We have pretended since we gave Panama our canal (Panama, as a nation, had nothing to do with the creation of the canal…heck, they didn’t even provide labor for it; all of that came from the USA and the Caribbean islanders) that everything is just hunky dory…but it hasn’t been. There has been massive trafficking across and through it. China has gained footholds. Trump claims that the Panamanians are screwing us on use rates…and while I don’t know this is true, it would surprise the heck out of me if it wasn’t because the USA is everyone’s patsy. Trump, by making his apparently off-the-cuff and outrageous statement regarding taking it back is simply resetting us back to reality…now the Panamanians will have to actually deal with a real United States that is insisting, not asking.

It is so crucial for us to live in reality – a reality where the Mexican government is a charade and everything that happens there regarding drugs and trafficking is Cartel controlled with no reference to Mexican law. A reality where we can’t choose between packs of Syrian savages so we’d better just get out. A reality where continued war in Ukraine helps nobody. A reality where we simply must deport the illegals. On and on and on like that. But four years will not be enough…and that’s is the pickle we find ourselves in. Some of the stuff Trump will have to do is going to be unpopular or at least not understood right off…and J D Vance (or whoever gets the 2028 nod) will have to commit to continuing Trump policies, with the attendant risk that frustration will cause a temporary rejection of same. 2024 was a must-win for us…but so, too, will 2028, 2032 and 2036 be. That is how long it will take just to make sure we don’t die. Let the Democrats back in before 2040 and they will resume the insanity…and place it on overdrive.

Just keep that in mind as we go forward – and make all criticisms of Trump policy with that in mind. Don’t feed the lunatics any easy meals. Make them earn their opposition by coming up with rational complaints…absent such, just dismiss and ridicule them. This is our part – being patriotic citizens. Each of us is small, all of us together are big. And Trump will need us.

Picking up on the previous thread, I think it was Amazona who first mentioned the Cloward-Piven strategy which intrigued me at the time but thought it was too far fetched. Fast forward 20 years and we now see that very strategy playing out in real time; print trillions of dollars to devalue the dollar and drive up debt, weaponize the federal agencies with partisans, and open the southern border for mass migration … exactly what has been going on the last 4 years. I will add to that, poorly educate the children and create as many divisive cultural issues as possible, which teacher unions have been doing the last couple of decades.

We are in a real mess but on Nov 5, we learned that we are not alone, and we are the majority. This is a cultural battle that must be won for the sake of our grandchildren. Let’s fight the good fight.

So the House Ethics Committee released its report on Matt Gaetz and it confirms his sleaziness. This is the person you all wanted to be Attorney General of the United States. The moral rot never ends with you folks. I look forward to Amazona’s attempt to rationalize it away.

Your party still honors Bill Clinton so SHUT THE F*CK UP.

Sorry, but I’m not a member of a political party. Nevertheless, a mature response, Mark.

You’re a liberal. A lefty. Bill Clinton is one of your heroes.

        So, once again: STFU.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 24, 2024 / 7:51 am

And….Captain Quibbles strikes again. “Your” party is the one you defend and enable. But you just stick to the quibble that if you haven’t officially joined it it isn’t “your” party. And, of course, more of your smarmy pretense of moral superiority.

      • Rocks Cows's avatar Rocks Cows December 23, 2024 / 10:13 pm

I am definitely liberal, especially as compared to you. But I never voted for Clinton. Back then I voted third party.

But bringing Clinton into this is irrelevant. Either you (and holier-than-thou Mike Johnson, for that matter) believe what you say about morals and ethics or you don’t. You’re making it clear that you merely give morals and ethics lip service. When it comes to one of your own, morality goes out the window. That’s what I don’t get about you folks. Trump has caused you to turn your backs on your beliefs, assuming you did have such beliefs in the first place. Truly remarkable.

And then you obviously get angry when it is pointed out to you, telling me to “SHUT THE F*CK UP.” How about, STAND THE F*CK UP for your moral beliefs, even if it means renouncing a Republican.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan December 23, 2024 / 11:47 pm

Bill Clinton is a Lefty hero.

Lefties therefor are prohibited from commenting on morals.

        We’re not playing your game.

OK, OK, we get it. Of course, we got it a long time ago, but you insist on hammering it home again and again. You are hung up on Identity Politics. It’s all that matters to you. You are either incapable of or merely disinterested in actual ideas, being so emotionally locked in to focusing on personalities and squalid gossip. And you get to do that. You get to be that person. You get to announce, over and over again, your emotional dependence on the lowest level of spurious gossip and then posturing as morally superior. Maybe you think you are a good person because you don’t even bother to “give morals and ethics lip service” but just lurk in the shadows waiting for a chance to slime someone but you fool no one.

Any public official is going to be chosen from the human gene pool, and is therefore going to be burdened with the same imperfections we all have. Matt Gaetz has admitted to a former lifestyle that some pursed-lip sanctimonious self-appointed arbiter of moral sanctity might call “sleazy”. Actually, in your post you actually DID. But there are different kinds of moral offenses and we get to decide which we find more or less tolerable than others.

For example, I am less offended by a young man chasing women and partying than I am an older man who callously abuses the power of his position and violates the Constitution to advance a political agenda, so I am far more comfortable with the idea of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General than I am with Merrick Garland. The first kind of behavior is one of impulse, while the second is calculating and corrupt. The first is the relative mindlessness of youth, the second is a choice made over decades to violate the ethical tenets of his profession and his appointments.

Matt Gaetz has changed his life, admitted to his past indiscretions and has apparently been committed to becoming a different person than the rather wild, rather reckless, man of his youth. Merrick Garland, on the other hand, has continued his corruption and betrayal of the law and the country in his support for the political system which is the antithesis of the system upon which this nation was founded and attempts to continue to function.

And Matt Gaetz has never been given his Constitutional right to face his accusers and defend himself, being convicted instead by people like you who gloat over every alleged morsel of salacious gossip and then posture as morally upright for your obsessions.

We just had a nice little chat about how this blog has succeeded for more than two decades, and the reason it has is because it has focused on actual IDEAS. Blog pathogens like you have been systemically removed, as you have consistently proven to bring absolutely nothing of value to the discourse but instead are determined to drag it down to your level.

And no, I am not going to let you drag this into one of your interminable bickerfests where you quibble about the minutiae of each word and syllable and try to drag out discussions so you can feel relevant and the focus of someone’s—-anyone’s—attention.

It doesn’t matter whether Bill Clinton is “a Lefty hero.” It doesn’t matter whether you think “Lefties” are allowed to comment on morals. Your morals shouldn’t be dependent on the morals of “Lefties.” You’re just dodging to protect someone on your team. You know it and I know it. That’s why you’re angry.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 24, 2024 / 8:38 am

        “That’s why you’re angry.”

Oh, you poor sad silly delusional sap. If there is any real “anger” here it is directed at your smug sanctimonious hypocrisy.

No one is “defending” Matt Gaetz. You are the one who brought him up, because this is the kind of thing that matters to you. Of course, you lie as you do it, but then that’s just you. The “report” proves nothing, because it is based on unproven allegations and innuendo. It is a political hit job, and releasing it before he has had a chance to face his accusers and defend himself is a gross violation of ethics and—to use the term you have suddenly found so compelling—morality. The “defense” is of the system, of innocent until proven guilty, of the right to face accusers and defend oneself.

If Matt Gaetz were still living the free-wheeling, womanizing, party lifestyle of several years ago no one would be “defending” him. But he isn’t. Like all inherently good people, he has changed and worked to become a better person. And this is the difference between him and the heroes of the Left. They can’t blame reckless youth for their behavior. They have, as mature adults, engaged in behaviors ranging from rape (“you might want to put some ice on that”) to political corruption on many levels. So if there is any “anger” (and yes, we did note the Leftist snap to the default position of accusing others of things like “anger” to deflect from the reality of mere disgust as well as to preen in your imaginary power to enrage people) it is really just emphatic rejection of your unctuous self-congratulation for your shallowness.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan December 24, 2024 / 2:39 pm

And you’re dodging the fact that your senile hero Biden just commuted the sentences of child murderers.

We know what you’re doing – coming here to try to get us mad at our own…who even if as bad as the uncorroborated allegations, are freaking saints compared to the corrupt, stupid and perverted weirdos the Left holds up as heroes.

There is a reason I have always called Rocks, et al, “blog vandals”, because like all vandals they despise what their betters have created and only want to damage it or tear it down.

They are ugly. Their heroes are ugly. Their “art” is ugly. They not only cannot create beauty, they cannot appreciate it, and when they encounter it their only response is to try to destroy it.

Look at Rocks, in whichever persona he is using at any given time. He craves attention and a sense of power, yet the only way he can achieve any of this is to attack what others have built and what matters to them.

The first time I was truly aware of this was during the Terri Schiavo dispute. On one side were people who said that if her family was willing to care for her and provide any comfort the poor girl might be able to experience, then let them. And on the other were howling mobs screeching that she had to die. Their rage, their fury, the overheated passion with which they absolutely DEMANDED that she be killed, was alarming and creepy and a peek into the dark and disturbing heart of the Left. It was not long after that when the pro-abortion rhetoric got so insane, with screaming mobs literally celebrating the dismembering of sentient humans who can feel pain.

The Left has ripped its mask off, and can never recover the thin veneer of decency it used to hide behind. When it started to openly advocate for pornography in elementary school libraries, when it started to blatantly argue for the early sexualization of children, when it didn’t even try to hide its disdain for the rule of law, when it openly took the position that if it howled the words “morality” and “democracy” loud enough people wouldn’t notice that it stands for their opposites, we took notice. Now even people who weren’t paying attention are now becoming aware of the utterly rotten core of so many on the Left, which is why there is a movement away from them—a movement I think will pick up speed as the nation experiences more of what life is like when the Left is not running/ruining it.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan December 24, 2024 / 9:34 pm

It is very crucial that we not let the Left moralize us into compliance…as you note, these are people who advocate for objectively evil policies. Our side has sinners…their side has demons.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 25, 2024 / 8:08 am

I think their efforts to “moralize us into compliance” have backfired on them. They tried using their claims of moral imperative to justify flouting the law and allowing millions of illegal immigrants into the country, and we are starting to see the defects in this claim of moral authority as these invaders are bankrupting our cities, taking money from citizens who need it and acting out vicious and violent and murderous intent, and this contributed to their loss of the presidency.

They pushed their claims of moral authority in the name of “tolerance” so far that they ended up advocating for the early sexualization of children by providing them with pornography in their school libraries and sexually deviant “story hours” in which women were viciously stereotyped and ridiculed and overtly sexual themes were common, and parents rebelled and demanded that this end.

Their efforts to link morality to enabling young children to sort out issues of sexual identity confusion has led to the permanent mutilation of children, who now enter puberty and adulthood with surgically deformed bodies and damaged endocrine systems, and the inability to have children. We are now seeing lawsuits and this issue is showing signs of developing into a major scandal with serious legal and financial repercussions.

We as a nation tend to be overly compassionate and even gullible, but enough is enough, and the Left has gone so far so fast that they have, as the cowboy saying goes, shit in their own Cheerios. All the pious mouthing of pseudo-moral platitudes will no longer provide cover for the gross immorality of the Left.

Mollie Hemingway wrote: Sometimes I feel like I was the only reporter to look into the details of the Gaetz allegations. That’s how I learned the accuser is in prison for making the same false sex-with-minors accusation against someone else. The House “investigation” didn’t seem to care enough to look into this, but then they also dismissed the fact that the Garland DOJ refused to follow up on the claims because they found the claimants to have no credibility. As in none. Zero.

But there is always the sanctimonious “we don’t need no steenking proof” contingent:

        One of the comments:

I once gave my girlfriend $300 bucks so she could buy a new washing machine.

In 8 more days we’ll have been married 32 years. Finding out I married a prostitute is making me question the last 3 decades of my life.

I also see the word “pedophile” tossed around a lot, which is typical of Leftist semantic manipulation. Pedophilia is the sexual attraction to or contact with prepubescent children. Just as in the Catholic Church abuse cases the word is improperly used either out of ignorance or in a purposeful effort to increase the emotional impact of the statement.

At no time was Matt Gaetz accused of pedophilia. He was accused of having sex with a minor, though in a statement he said that he had dated a young woman who claimed to be 18 and when he learned she had lied to him he stopped seeing her. I don’t know of any man who demands to see a drivers’ license or other ID to confirm the age of a woman he wants to date, especially if she appears to be older than she really is.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 24, 2024 / 7:48 am

It “confirms” nothing, as it is nothing but allegations in a sham proceeding in which Gaetz was never allowed to defend himself or present evidence against the claims. For example, it asserts that multiple women were transported over state lines for the purpose of sex. That is, Gaetz took some girlfriends on trips with him. And, of course, might have had sex with them.

The Constitution has some protections, such as the assumption of innocence until proven guilty. This seems to be nothing but a petty annoyance to the Left, as it/you simply dismiss it and proceed as if accused equals being guilty, while piously pretending to occupy the Higher Moral Ground by doing so.

But then this is the game you people play—you don’t care about reality, you just want the WORDS, because you know that your base is so ignorant it doesn’t understand the difference between the label and truth.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 24, 2024 / 9:15 am

And the report is pretty much what we expected it to be. Such as the “finding” that multiple women were transported over state lines for the purpose of sex. Translation into NormSpeak: Gaetz took girlfriends on vacations with him. Oh, the horror! And if he loaned or gave a female friend any money, it HAD to be “for sex”.

The crotch-sniffing “investigation” really didn’t find much of anything, other than unsubstantiated claims often from anonymous “witnesses”, which they then filled out with assumptions and attributions of alleged motives.

Hard to believe Rocks comes in here trying to claim the higher moral ground when he has been in support of a man who took showers with his daughter, raised a drug addicted kid who traffics in prostitutes and supported policies that resulted in women being raped, killed and burnt to death. This is what the media and Democrats have done to small minded people like him. They need to be eliminated from the public discourse. They have no purpose or value.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona December 24, 2024 / 10:07 am

It’s actually not that hard to believe at all, given the Left’s freewheeling approach to things like “morality” and even the way words are described.

As I have often observed, the Left promises a shortcut to the Higher Moral Ground. That is, merely by being supportive of the Left you supposedly have gained the status of moral arbiter and holder of some kind of morality award. All they have to do is put on blinders so they don’t see the offenses on their own side, and obediently fall into line and parrot the Left’s narratives.

The other most glaring characteristic of the rank and file of American Leftists is their obsession with the personalities and conduct (real or asserted) of the Invented Other they have been trained to hate, despise and consider the source of all evil and corruption. Once fully indoctrinated into this nasty little pustule of toxic emotion, the rest is easy for them. They lurk until told that someone on the Right has done something they can squeal about, gloat over and wallow in and then they scurry out of their little ratholes to bleat their moral outrage.

Associating the Left with a system of government that is based on consolidating power in the hands of a few elites and keeping it from the people? Are you kidding? That would require thought, and ideas, and everything that runs counter to their passion for the cheap thrills of trashing other people. Expecting someone with an unbroken record of supporting and enabling the Left to explain and defend this system’s history of resulting in economic misery, loss of liberty and too often the murder of millions? Where’s the fun in that when they can vicariously sniff Matt Gaetz’s underwear and issue pious condemnations of what they think went on while he was wearing it?

The Mason-Dixon line used to be considered the demarcation between the North and South. I think the demarcation line between the Left and the Right is the beltline—above the belt, you have thoughts and ideas and aspirations and actual political discourse, and below you have the crotch-centric Left that seems to base everything on what happens in, to or around genitalia.

Great Christmas message from Coffee & Covid:

It is the Trump Christmas effect. Forbes extended its lukewarm observation about the return of “Merry Christmas” into a broader effect caused (or permitted) by the bare fact of Trump’s election: the death of DEI. It isn’t completely dead yet but it’s acting like a just-sprayed cockroach nest:

    image 9.png

We’ll look more closely at this 180-degree swing and this seismic shift in a few days, when we consider C&C’s 2024 Year in Review. For now, we can be grateful for America, for Christmas and for its source and reason, and for the rapid return of rationality here in the States.

As the saying goes, if America catches a cold, the rest of the world gets pneumonia. Maybe this time, as has occasionally happened before, America’s recovery will heal Europe. That is one of my Christmas wishes.

Beyond that, I wish the best for you, dear C&C readers, and your families on this most astonishing Christmas, in a season of joy in which we’ve received tremendous blessings beyond anything we’d dared to hope for since before the pandemic. Sam said it best in Tolkein’s The Two Towers:

It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered, full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? … But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you… Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding on to something. … That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.

This Christmas, the sun is finally starting to shine. Can you feel its warmth yet? Keep going. Keep holding on. There is plenty of good in this world, dear reader, and it is worth fighting for. Merry, merry Christmas!

But thanks to he whose birth we celebrate today, a saner world is coming, and those of us who believe that know how the story ends. There will be chaos in between, but it’s all just background noise compared to what’s coming.

Merry Christmas to all my friends at B4V.
