…what they do create is anarchy; and the difference between these is not a question of violence, but a question of fruitfulness and finality. Revolution of its nature produces government; anarchy only produces more anarchy. Men may have what opinions they please about the beheading of King Charles or King Louis, but they cannot deny that Bradshaw and Cromwell ruled, that Carnot and Napoleon governed. Someone conquered; something occurred. You can only knock off the King’s head once. But you can knock off the King’s hat any number of times. Destruction is finite, obstruction is infinite: so long as rebellion takes the form of mere disorder (instead of an attempt to enforce a new order) there is no logical end to it; it can feed on itself and renew itself forever. If Napoleon had not wanted to be a Consul, but only wanted to be a nuisance, he could, possibly, have prevented any government arising successfully out of the Revolution. But such a proceeding would not have deserved the dignified name of rebellion….
War is a dreadful thing; but it does prove two points sharply and unanswerably—numbers, and an unnatural valor. One does discover the two urgent matters; how many rebels there are alive, and how many are ready to be dead. But a tiny minority, even an interested minority, may maintain mere disorder forever… – G K Chesterton, What’s Wrong With the World?
In that passage Chesterton was discussing what was called at the time the “militant suffragettes” – and his complaint, as can be seen, is that they weren’t really militant. They were just causing disorder on a continual basis in order to irritate the political system into giving women the vote. Trouble is that disorder is mere disorder…and while the positive thing did happen (votes for women) the precedent of irritation was adopted in the broadest sense by the overall political Left in the Western world. But you can’t do it that way – or, at least, you shouldn’t do it that way. And the votes for women finally occurred not because militant suffragettes knocked off the King’s hat, but because non-militant suffragettes simply set to work with peaceful political lobbying – both of government and the public – until the female vote was secured.
You might recall in the past that I’ve had a kind word or two to say about a riot. As Chesterton noted, it isn’t necessarily about violence, but about finality. Violence is to be avoided, of course. We should compose our differences via reasoned debate according to law. All rioters – like all revolutionaries – are doing something which risks the ultimate penalty being imposed by the other side. Don’t do it. If you do, know what you’re getting into. And, also, if you are doing it, have a resolution in mind. Like this:
Julius Jacob von Haynau was an Austrian army officer who was instrumental in suppressing the Hungarian rebellion in 1848. A man of notably bad temper, he was quite brutal in dealing with rebels who came into his hands. After it was over, he had the thanks of the Austrian government and the opprobrium of just about everyone else. A few years later he was visiting England and was recognized by some British workers who promptly got up a riot against him and basically chased him away covered in filth. Total violation of the law. Violence that was dangerous and could get someone hurt. But it was violence with a specific end in mind: letting a foreign brute know that he wasn’t welcome in a land of free men. The cockney’s who threw dung at him broke the law, but they did a right thing. They weren’t trying to merely create disorder…they had a goal in mind and achieved it. Violence is wrong; but if there is to be violence, there has to be a specific end to it.
If I had to say what is wrong with the Left – other than, you know, the fact that they are Left – I would say that they’re Leninists without a Lenin. When Lenin said to loot the looters he wasn’t trying to make a society of looters but working to obtain a certain thing: power for himself. By having the poor loot the rich he knew that the poor would remain poor, but very importantly the rich would become poor…and poor people have a very hard time fighting back. The modern Left does assert that the looters should be looted, but none of them have that single minded determination to seize all power and impose a new order. This is good, in a sense, because Lenin was evil to the core but it is bad that we don’t get a resolution…just continual disorder.
When the current LA riots started someone posted a picture of burning police cars and Gavin Newsom – the alleged governor of California – noted that the picture was from 2020. He was quite triumphant in noting this fact…not at all understanding that it merely indicates he’s let California burn routinely under his watch. Newsom is an evil man. He’s a liar and a crook. He likes being governor because it allows him to lie and steal on a grand scale and he’d like to be President so he can lie and steal even more. But there is no hard center to him – nor in any of the Democrat leaders. They just like to lie and steal and so they need a system which allows them to lie and steal – and a system that allows this is a system which retreats from rioters because you can’t lie or steal about riots and, anyways, any lives lost or property destroyed won’t be theirs so no worry. The main thing is that they don’t want this to end – because a system which suppresses riots is a system which won’t allow them to lie and steal. The disorder must go on forever.
But there is a risk. Somewhere in that mass of masked anti-American rioters there are people who do have a specific goal in mind. There are lots of Lenins out there. None has emerged into leadership. Keep in mind that Lenin got involved in the Marxist revolutionary circles as early as 1887 but it wasn’t until 1903 that he split the Marxist movements and created his Bolsheviks so he could have a movement entirely under his control and dedicated to taking power by any means necessary. So, we might still be a while out before an American Lenin arises…but once one does, that person will ruthlessly suppress dissent on the Left and move on a united front not to just create disorder so corrupt people can steal, but in order to provoke a revolutionary crisis to be taken advantage of.
What this means is that we can’t afford to play this game where the Left uses continual disorder to make governance impossible. And think about it for a moment – the schools suck, the roads are crumbling, burned houses aren’t being rebuilt. Why not? I mean, seriously: none of these are difficult tasks for any reasonably intelligent person. But they keep utterly failing at all of them. Why? Because any attempt to really fix this stuff will lead to renewed, petty disorder orchestrated by the people in charge of schools, roads and housing construction…and so the complete failure keeps going while those who deliberately allowed the petty disorder in the past continue to lie and steal. If it was just California screwing itself – or the Blue States, in general – then we might just smile and move on. But we can’t risk that – we can’t afford, that is, the continuation of a corrupt system where thieves and liars use riots as an excuse for maintaining a corrupt system. Eventually this can spill over into our areas…or throw up a tyrant who will rule us all. We must put a stop to this.
We can cite 10,000 examples of total governmental failure in California – from city to county to State. Nothing is working. Nothing is being done correctly. And this is before we get to the riots, themselves. What it all adds up to is that in their desire to steal, the California Ruling Class has abdicated all actual authority. That is, they were vested legally with certain powers to do certain things…and none of those things are being done. The money is getting spent! That’s for sure – and by “spent” I mean “stolen”, of course. But the things directed by law to happen, aren’t. And the people vested with the power to carry out the law, aren’t. Essentially, the mindless riot of the streets is also a mindless riot in the halls of government. Nobody is in charge – save those in charge of passing out the stolen cash. Everything else is a charade…a pretense. Make-believe government…the form absent any content.
The Constitution enjoins the federal government to ensure a republican form of government in the several States. Donald Trump – and the Congress and Judiciary – are duty bound to carry out the provisions of the Constitution. There is no actual government in California. There is a morass of people feeding off taxes and that’s it…nobody there is actually doing any governing. And that means, in my view, that the federal authorities should step in, dissolve the facade of California governance and call for new elections under strict federal supervision to obtain a government of California which will carry out government responsibilities.
It is time, once again, to enter the real world – in the fake world of the past, we pretended that California was just a bit weird. It isn’t. It is entirely dysfunctional…and flooded with illegals who are used by gangsters and government officials as a third-party cut out to steal taxpayer dollars. California in its current condition is a direct challenge to the Constitution and the territorial integrity of the United States. It must be brought under control and given a government with genuine consent of the governed.
The LA riots prove two things:
I don’t spend much time on X, just dropping in every now and then, but I am seeing the same script, the same narrative, over and over. Along with the refrain “Is this what you voted for?” there is the repeated claim that the military are there to aid in the deportation efforts. Clearly the Left knows that admitting that the riots got so far out of hand they required the intervention of the National Guard would be a bad look, so they have sold the narrative that the Guard is there to help deport people. It’s a desperate attempt to cover up the destruction and anarchy of the riots, but I think it is only going to be preaching to the choir, influencing only those already in the tank for the radical Trump-hating Left.
California is a failed State. Here is a video of some fat ass rioter punishing and getting away from 3 LAPD people. 3! Not only does CA not consistently enforce the laws, but when they try, it’s with DEI hires LOLOLOLOL. What a complete fucking joke

The comments point out that (1) a lot of the “police” are just bicycle cops, not really hired or trained to deal with serious crime, and (2) the penalty for using any level of force on any criminal is so severe that the cops know it’s better to just let the guys go. After all, it’s not as if this guy would face any penalty for violently assaulting three law enforcement officers, so why bother?
Yep – stop the violence, lose your pension…if you’re lucky: if you harm or kill someone they can create a Narrative about, you’re going to jail.
To me, the standard for crowd control is Las Vegas Metro – I do have my complaints about them, but when it comes to managing large crowds, they have it down to an art. In 2020 the BLM types tried to work up a riot and Metro picked off the leaders in minutes and then channeled the mass into a place where it was disperse or get arrested…off to mommy’s basement they went. Let’s face it, if a force can handle 100,000 drunken idiots on New Years Eve, they can handle anything!
Watch the documentary 11 Minutes, it’s all about the Mandalay Bay shooting and it’s fantastic. There were multiple reports of active shooters all over Vegas and 9/11 calls were coming in fast, but what was so impressive was that the cops identified the location of the shooter within 3 minutes, and had the location and much of Strip shut down within 5 minutes. That’s quick
I was just in Vegas this weekend taking the kids to the Coldplay concert at Alegiant. That’s an impressive stadium
OTOH there is this: Fun to watch

Hilarious … Fuck around and find out
Kurt Schlichter nails it in an excellent analysis of the Los Angeles street theater.
I also noticed today (or perhaps late yesterday) Trump said he remembered 2020 and wasn’t going to let that happen again – that is, wait for the governor to request troops. The Left wants this violence – they are hoping someone gets killed they can turn into another St George of Fentanyl…Trump wasn’t going to play their game. The troops went in and immediately secured federal property and provided back up for ICE which is still carrying out arrests. Once that was done, the point of the riots faded – that is, very little chance the Left would be able to work up the sort of violence they wanted…all that remains is looting of Apple stores which puts Bass and Newsom in the hot seat…either stop it using LA and CA police, or have their business district hollowed out by the monster they created to get an anti-Trump Narrative.
Also worth noting: every 750,000 illegals deported out of CA is another House seat they lose. Democrats are terrified of this…not just Trump right now, but a possible Vance/DeSantis in 2029 just keeping it going as the 2030 census approaches.
Your comment on the potential loss of House seats due to the loss of illegals points out the real reason the Left insists that the census count illegals for the purpose of determining House representation. This is a federal issue as the census is a federal operation, and we need to get that law passed now. Supposedly the next census is being prepared now, which is hard to believe but the claim behind saying we can’t do anything about it.
As for the riots/performative theater by the Left, I have been advocating online the same approach I have mentioned here—drones spraying that Israeli stink juice on rioters. It is non-lethal and immediately effective, as no one is going to be throwing a brick or lighting a Molotov cocktail while barfing his guts out all over his nice new kicks. It would have several effects. One would be to move the specter of “rioting” from the dramatic to the ridiculous as suddenly the optics would be hundreds of people spewing all over themselves and each other: One would be the ability to identify rioters even at a distance because of their odor: And one, probably the most important, would be to totally change the dynamic of organized rioting because it would not only be very much not-fun it would be costly (throwing out all those clothes and shoes and helmets and face masks) and really really uncomfortable and with long-range effects as the stink won’t wash off meaning the stinkers won’t be welcome in apartments, Mommy’s basement, public transportation or anywhere else till it wears off. Even if a gas mask would protect the wearer from inhaling the stuff it would still ruin the clothes and the mask itself.
I think it would be a funny and welcome FAFO solution, with the added benefit of halting a lot of vandalism, arson and threats to safety.
There have been comments that we have experienced an invasion, comments going back to the early days of Biden’s “Open Borders-Come On In” days. They have been revived with the Mexican flags being flown in the L.A riots and anti-American rhetoric.
Now Mexico’s Senate President Fernandez Noroña throws a little gasoline onto that fire with his statement:
Although Noroña is known in Mexico as “what the Canadians might call a “shit disturber” – a person who has long caused mischief in Mexican politics and whose reputation for picking fights and flouting norms precedes him.” And he has some influence:
So it looks like there is a faction in Mexico (far-Left, naturally) trying to pump up the Los Angeles riots with international interference, basically telling the rioting Mexicans that they have a legal and moral right to be in Los Angeles and that their battle with the US government is a righteous one. There is no way this guy (or the rest of his rabble-rousing Leftist buddies) is going to get the country of Mexico into a war with the United States, but he and they can get some people killed by inciting even more rebellion against the United States and its laws and government.
And his rhetoric might very well lead to some serious charges pressed against any Mexican in the United States who has been influenced by it. because that would indicate an actual effort to overthrow our government and assume its powers. And that is the actual legal definition of “insurrection”.
Trump can shut it all down simply by cutting off all remittances from the US to Mexico based on the implied threat of Noroña’s statements, forcing Sheinbaum to denounce him and contradict what he says, but this is a dangerous situation which could flare up into a real conflict, especially at the border where Mexican army personnel have already fired on American border control across the river.
One of the problems of making profoundly stupid remarks is that these days it only takes a few minutes for someone vastly more intelligent to walk all over them.
As for whose “homeland” any of this territory might be, there is this:
There is a lot of breathless anti-white screeching about how “only white people” ever take over land from others and then claim it is theirs, but we can see that isn’t even remotely true.
And there is this:
Reparations, Mexico? There are a lot of conquered and enslaved civilizations with claims. Maybe take care of your own history of conquest and enslavement and assumption of territory before you start pointing fingers to the north.
I decided to point out to everyone on X some salient facts here:
Mexico declared independence from Spain in 1821 – and the reason they did so was because over in Spain there had been a coup installing a Liberal regime determined to break down the power of the Monarchy and nobility..including in Spanish America. While anti-Spanish rebellion had broken out in 1810 (spurred by Napoleon’s conquest of Spain in 1808), it went nowhere until forces of the Spanish crown in New Spain (Mexico) signed off on it.
So, 1821 – officially independent and theoretically claiming all the territory of New Spain – which, of course, was a mere administrative division of the Spanish Empire. This Administrative division included not just what we know of today as Mexico, but also places as far afield as Costa Rica and Dominica. Which, of course, didn’t care what some renegade Royalist officer in Mexico City said about independence. Gigantic slices of New Spain would very quickly break off from the new Mexico and form their own nations…and among the areas which wanted nothing to do with the people of Mexico City were the people of Alta California…which is today pretty much the American southwest. And keep in mind – in 1821 it was just a declaration. Like ours – something nice to do, but not an actual fact until all parties concerned went along with it. Spain didn’t go along with it until 1836…and Alta California never fully went along with it…indeed, tossing out the last actual Mexican governor of California just prior to the Mexican-American War (Mexico refused a responsible government for Alta California – considering it a mere territory with all officials to be appointed by Mexico City; and when Mexico City decided to send an army to Alta California to compel obedience, it disintegrated on the march…showing how little concern the people of Mexico proper had for what California was up to). But if we want to go with what people in Mexico City said, then Los Angeles only came under their rule in 1821 and was only recognized by Spain as theirs in 1836. So, at the max Mexico ruled Los Angeles for 27 years…and held legal title for 12.
It has been American territory for 177 years.
And when we took it over, we found that Los Angeles had 1,610 people…some percentage of which were American citizens who had started moving into the area decades previously (all of them were American citizens by the 1850 census, of course – that was part of the terms of the treaty ceding the territory to the USA…if you stayed, you became natural born Americans…if you left to Mexico, you remained natural born Mexicans). The number of people in Los Angeles today who are descendants of people who lived there when it became American is tiny…and includes people who were American prior to annexation. The concept that any person who happens to be a native Spanish speaker is somehow on his native ground in Los Angeles is ridiculous…it doesn’t work that way. It would be like a German moving to Silesia in Poland and claiming it is his native land because in some distant past German citizens lived there.
It is also important to note that Mexico wasn’t Mexico when it declared independence…it was a collection of factions who simply wanted to rule their own way. The basic Mexican peasant – largely of Native blood – didn’t give a damn about any of it. He just wanted to own his land, work his farm, attend his Church and not be bothered by nimrods from Mexico City. This is why there have been continual rebellions of these people against Mexican rule … with the most recent only finally concluding in Chiapas in 2020. That was a fairly minor affair but the Cristeros and the Zapatistas once shook Mexico to its foundation…basically rejecting the whole concept of Mexico in their rebellions which were brutally put down by the Mexico City government. To find a genuine Mexican national spirit you can’t really go back further than the French Intervention in the 1860s…that did spur a sense of Mexican patriotism (the war with us didn’t – in fact, huge parts of what is today Mexico wanted to join the United States…once again, nobody cared about what people in Mexico City were up to…they had no organic connection to them…when under Spanish rule, they were in a different local administration like, for instance, Honduras and Costa Rica had been). But even that Mexican patriotism wasn’t universal…Yucatan and the Rio Grande valley both at times maintained an independent government from Mexico. It wasn’t until Porfirio Díaz took control for decades that a Mexican national identity was fostered…and even then, forcibly and not with consent and thus the long and bloody Mexican Revolution 1910-20.
Basically, nobody who knows history does anything but laugh at any claim Mexico might make to anything in the USA…they didn’t really ever rule it, hardly anyone lived there and those who did had no loyalty to Mexico. We got them to sign on the dotted line and gave them $15 million for a quit claim…just to make it legally tidy. We didn’t have to do that in reality.
