The thing is, I’m here right now:

That is Torrey Pines State Beach in California – far, far away from the anti-ICE riots, carefully guarded so the upper class Commies who reside nearby never have to suffer the consequences of their actions. But, as you can see, one heck of a nice beach. You can see that little inlet there with the bridge going over it…first time I was there was Spring of 1972. Mom brought me there. You used to be able to go inland on from that inlet and it was quite spectacular but the Commies decided it was a Wetland and HAD TO BE PRESERVED FOR ALL TIME and they closed it off to human activity…which will be funny as heck when erosion destroys that little inlet. Those cliffs you see were quite a bit further out back in 1972!
But as I’m there and not here (I’d normally be plunking myself downright by that closest lifeguard tower but with the Mrs still recovering from the broken hip, we’ll probably be over by the furthest one as its an easier path – if you happen to be in the area, say hi!) I decided to schedule this one so that everyone can keep a fresh post to talk up the issues of the day…which I’m confident will be different from the issues of today (Sunday). Things move very fast during Trump II! Remember the Elon/Trump fight? Seems like twenty years ago, doesn’t it?
I’ll be back late Thursday – so, if the world doesn’t blow up by then, we’ll chat some more!
Zero Hedge has an interesting analysis (Iranian Regime Is Cooked: Forecaster Who Predicted Israeli Strike) of the Iran/Israel situation by “Belikewater” (@Just_Curius on X), who is a professional forecaster and member of the Sentinel Global Risks Watch forecasting team.
Someone else is missing from the lineup: Retired Spook has been dealing with some health issues and has gone AWOL, but is recovering nicely and will hopefully be rejoining us soon.
I bailed out for a few days at the end of last week, neck-deep in renovations of my Wyoming property. The young woman who had convinced me of her reliability fell in love right before the Big Freeze of a couple of years ago (I knew that when young men her age go through this they suffer total brain death but didn’t know it happened to girls) so while she was giving me almost-daily reports on her work winterizing my property and taking care of my horses she was really off doing what hormones dictated, with the result that neighbors stepped in to feed the horses (I couldn’t get back from Florida by the time I found out what was going on, due to the extreme weather conditions) and my entire property froze up. Nearly $50,000 of labor and material from the previous summer’s efforts was lost, and now I am replacing what was broken or destroyed and the subsequent damage from broken pipes and wells and exploded (new) toilets. It’s the kind of thing where you say “oh %$@% it” and just replace all the plumbing and a lot of sheet rock and flooring to get it right.
Horses are fine, neighbors are heroes, new caretaker is a gem, and taking on an energetic business partner has not only meant dividing the work it has brought in her handyman, so it’s moving along quite nicely now. The major crises seem to be pretty much resolved, so we are now down to more minor ones, such as how to get the baby skunks out of the well housing.
There is plenty going on in the world, but none of it seems to require us, so it’s a good time to hit the beach or drop out to deal with health issues or hang out in Wyoming surrounded by a bumper crop of lilacs and wildflowers thanks to the rain this spring.
Been wondering about Spook and glad he’s on the mend! And, wow, what a mess.
The house I own I purchased a few years back but I had rented it from this couple – they’re probably worth some many tens of millions but you’d never know it. Main thing, they own a lot of houses here and in Oregon and Washington…they rent them out and they do it very carefully, looking for rock-solid people who will rent for decades (some of their tenants have been there for 30 or more years). Just really great, nice people…and they can tell you some horror stories of people who promised a lot of things and it didn’t quite work out!
There is a percentage of the population that actually gets things done. I mean in the sense ensuring that things are done. They’re the organizers, the directors, the people who spur things to action. There were a huge number of sailors and intrepid sea captains in 1492…but only one guy who wanted to sail west from Spain. Had he been killed in an accident before he left, Lord only knows how long it would have been before someone else got the bug to do that. The couple I rented from (and are now just friends with) are two of those people…and I’m wondering how low the numbers of such are getting.
I had to laugh/wince at your “wetland” comment. My first Wyoming ranch had a large old hayfield that had been pretty much destroyed by an uphill neighbor’s failure to maintain his irrigation ditches. The former owner gave up on using it for hay and just let cattle graze on it, but when you do that the cows tramp down the softer soil between the roots of the grass bunches, ending up with a miserable field of rock-hard hummocks of grass and roots standing a foot or more above marshy nasty fetid water. You can’t even drive across it, not even on an ATV, and animals have to step carefully to avoid injury. It becomes a mosquito habitat and is generally a mess.
When I bought the property I was told that federal extension agents could help me devise a drainage plan to recover this valuable piece of land. Uh-oh. The key word here was “federal”. A couple of doofuses showed up, one weighing in at what had to be 300-pounds-plus and barely able to walk, and they informed me that I couldn’t drain this because it was a “wetland”. No sir, I responded, I checked into that before buying and none of this property has ever been adjudicated as a wetland. But lookee here, says Mr. Fed, pulling up a stalk of grass, This here grass only grows in wetlands. No sir, says I, it only grows in wet land. You need to find the space bar on your keyboard. There is “WET LAND” and then there is “WETLANDS” and they are not the same. The law says I can recover agricultural land that has been damaged by water. This is historically productive agricultural land that has been damaged by water. I want to know the best way to drain it. But you can’t, wheezed the whale, cause a it bein’ a wetlands and all. But it’s not adjudicated as a wetlands. Well, it could be. Who would make that decision? Well, we would. So is it or isn’t it? Well, it could be.
And we went around and around and I thanked them for their time and escorted them off the property. Then a Lib brother decided to “help” me, falling back on the Lib passion for federal interference added to the brotherly compulsion to prove a sister wrong, and he called the same doofuses back. And he went through the same thing, and even he came to the same conclusion: no more feds.
So I started to work on a plan to excavate an adjoining swampy area I could use to drain my old hayfield and then dedicate as a protected migratory bird habitat, trying to line up support from Ducks Unlimited and similar groups and dealing with regulations, till a billionaire came along and offered me some money and I took it and ran.
The FBI Was Ordered to Destroy Evidence of China’s 2020 Election Plot to Help Biden
Gee, it wasn’t RussiaRussiaRussia at all! Could it be—just spitballin’ here, but…could it be that while the FBI was setting up bogus Russian involvement in the election to try to implicate/smear Trump, they were at the very same time conspiring to hide proof that China really WAS working to rig the election for Biden?
OUR FBI? Our beloved federal agency in charge of law enforcement throughout the land? Heroes of legend? The same federal agency that committed perjury to enable spying on American citizens to set up bogus charges and prosecutions, all to try to intimidate people who might be inclined to support Trump? The same federal agency that actually planted false evidence, in collusion with a foreign agent, to try to smear Trump and affect his chances of being elected?
THAT FBI?
Which, BTW, does raise the question of just who designated the intended recipients of those bogus ballots? Certainly SOMEONE coordinated with the Chinese, to identify the states where these fake ballots would be most important. Let’s hope the investigation gets deep enough to answer these questions, as well.
