Preacher Arrested for Preaching Christian Morality

Yet another sad tale from the birthplace and grave of modern liberties:

In a case which has disturbed religious freedom advocates, a preacher in the English town of Workington was reportedly arrested for describing homosexual conduct as a sin after a public sermon. A Baptist from Workington, the 42-year-old Dale McAlpine was preaching in the town on April 20. He said he never spoke about homosexuality during his public sermon, which was delivered from the top of a stepladder, the Telegraph reports.

McAlpine said that he later quietly listed homosexual practice among a number of sins referred to in 1 Corinthians during a debate with a woman passerby.

The lady then snitched to a “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender liaison officer”, who then seems to have set up McAlpine to be arrested after a later sermon. This is fascism, plain and simple.

It is also what the left wants to bring to the United States – and our nation, make no mistake about it, is an increasingly small island of liberty in a world gone mad with politically correct, State control of speech. Our liberals believe that the world will be better if homosexuality is held to be morally acceptable – it follows from this, in typically fascist fashion, that those who hold otherwise must be silenced.

Part of what we’re doing here in 2010 is fighting back against this tidal wave of tyranny. We’re making our stand and insisting that we Americans, at least, are strong enough to stand people saying things which cause offense. And our liberals will fight us tooth and nail on this.

Times Square Bomber: Anti-Bush, Anti-War

So much for the liberal attempts to spin him as TEA Party or other conservative:

…Shahzad’s behavior sometimes seemed odd to his neighbors, and he surprised a real estate broker he hardly knew with his outspokenness about President George W. Bush and the Iraq war.

“He mentioned that he didn’t like Bush policies in Iraq,” said Igor Djuric, who represented Shahzad in 2004 when he was buying a home.

Djuric said he couldn’t remember the exact words Shahzad used about Bush but “something to the effect of he doesn’t know what he’s doing and it’s the wrong thing that he’s doing.”

“I don’t know if he mentioned 9/11,” Djuric said, “but something like that, Iraq has nothing to do with anything.”

As Dan Riehl points out, its surprising that he wasn’t an MSNBC host – he certainly has the talking points down pat.

For those of us in the real world (ie, non-liberals), this comes as no surprise. Who else would want to bomb Times Square? Its got to be some Islamist/anti-American sort of person. To even think it could be someone else is to ignore reality – there’s that one in a million shot such a person could be motivated by other issues, but if there’s a car bomb found, the hunt should be immediately for whomever has lately been rather Islamist and/or anti-war.

We’ve been extraordinarily lucky on Obama’s watch – and even with this luck, we’ve still had people killed at Ft Hood. Our luck cannot hold forever – we cannot expect that the next car bomb will also be found in the nick of time. Until Obama and Administration start to get serious and essentially duplicate Bush’s efforts, we’re going to be increasingly at risk of terrorist attacks.

Cantor Hits Obama Failures

Making the case against the failed policies of Obama:

A top US Republican lawmaker on Tuesday made a sweeping election-year attack on President Barack Obama’s foreign policy, blasting a landmark nuclear cuts treaty with Russia and efforts to engage Iran.

With six months before November mid-term elections, Representative Eric Cantor urged US voters to back Republicans at “a pivotal time for America to restore its credibility by pursuing peace through strength.”

“That’s why conservatives must win in 2010. And when we retake Congress we will stand with defense-minded Democrats to stop the hemorrhaging of America’s defenses,” said Cantor, the number two House of Representatives Republican.

Engaging Iran has proven a dismal failure. The arms agreement with Russia is a pointless throwback to Cold War times. In all of his actions, President Obama seems to have a desire to pick up with Carter left off – with a weaker America and our enemies encouraged.

While we cannot change foreign policy until we change Presidents, a Republican Congress can act a brake upon Administration policies. We can force them to keep America a bit stronger and make it less likely that they’ll construct asinine agreements with our enemies. America is now under as much a threat as we were in 1980 – we’ve undone 30 years of bi-partisan foreign and defense policy which had restored America to its pre-eminent position.

We can restore America, and the first step is to be taken on November 2nd.

Out and About on a Tuesday Morning

What do I want regarding immigration? Here ya go – pretty sure everyone on both sides will find things to object to. I flatter myself that if this is the case, it means I’ve got it right.

A Pakistani connection to the Times Square bomber? Wouldn’t surprise me.

College professors outsourcing their grading to India. No, I’m not kidding.

The 9/12 March on Washington: will you be there?

Brits bribing teen aged girls to get Gadasil vaccinations. Its highly risky. It is, of course, a very touchy issue. Naturally, the Brit government doesn’t get parental permission for doing it.

Brit sniper kills two Taliban at a 1.5 mile distance. Incredible shooting.

How to become a famous blogger. I’m still stuck on Step One.

What Media Bias? Part 172

An admission:

It took a while, but MSNBC President Phil Griffin has finally admitted and embraced his cable network’s hard-left slant. He told the Chicago Tribune that he will try to carve out a niche on the left, hoping some day to rival the Fox News Channel’s record-setting ratings.

Not so long ago, Griffin insisted that MSNBC was not “tied to ideology” — unlike Fox, which simply could not be trusted, he claimed. Griffin even knocked FNC President Roger Ailes’s business model, criticizing him for “creat[ing] an ideological channel… I give them total credit. I tip my hat to them. They scored. But it was ideological and opportunistic. It was a business plan.”

Griffin has apparently abandoned his disdain for that business plan…

It is kinda cool for Griffin to come clean – but a bit late in the game. MSNBC has been in the tank for the left for years now.

There is nothing wrong with media bias. We here at Blogs for Victory as biased – bias is ok as long as your clear about it. I’d probably watch MSNBC from time to time if they really come clean on air with their bias (nice for Griffin to say so, but I want the on-air talent to drop the pretense). Its nice to see what the other side is saying (though, generally, when I want some liberal red meat I’m heading over to The Nation, or to read anything remotely connected to Alexander Cockburn – if you’re going to be a pinko, then be a pinko!).

What grates on us is the stupid lie that the MSM is not biased. Their pious and stupidly false claim of impartiality is what causes all the grief. Someone who will just come out and say, “I’m a liberal; I believe in a certain world view; I’m going to do my best to be fair, but its my desire to see this worldview advance, and that is what I’m about” will be applauded. Any MSMer who does that will become very popular – and popular on the right as well as on the left.

We’ll see how long the phony front holds up – this could be the opening of a flood gate of liberal honesty on the matter, and then I can retire “What Media Bias?”.

California Stops Short of Complete Liberal Fascism!

Incredible that in 2010 a fascist measure could be defeated in California, but here it is:

Cigar-smoking Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed legislation Monday that would have banned smoking at all California state parks and beaches, saying the bill crossed the line of government intrusion.

In a letter to California senators, the governor said state parks and local governments were already permitted to ban smoking on a case-by-case basis.

“There is something inherently uncomfortable about the idea of the state encroaching in such a broad manner on the people of California,” Schwarzenegger wrote to lawmakers.

Next thing you know, Californians might even the allowed to, say, have a smoke with a beer! Anything is possible now that this sliver of liberty has been able to shine in the California darkness.

The liberties Californians enjoy (firing up the bong, having strange sex) have now been expanded to being able to smoke a pipe while fishing. Glorious day, indeed.

Now, to our Californian friends, I do want you to be careful. Liberty can be a bit dangerous and scary until you get used to it. The whole key here is to exercise judgment. I know, I know – your liberal masters in Sacramento have been doing that for you, but now you’ll have to take charge, a little bit.

For you smokers, that will entail a bit of situational awareness – before you light up your smoke, take a look around and see if anyone else is smoking. If no one is – even if you’re outside – then its probably best to wait until later. For you non-smokers, when you see someone smoking, you can either move out of the way of the tobacco, or politely ask the smoker to refrain – most people are pretty decent about this sort of thing and will extinguish upon request.

This is called good manners – all responsible, free people have them. Eventually, you swell kids out there might even be deciding where to send your kids to school and how to discipline them. But, lets leave that aside for now – baby steps. Lets see if you can handle smoking.

Carrying Out a Revolution in Pennsylvania

The battle for Jack Murtha’s old seat:

…the latest Daily Kos poll shows Republican Tim Burns now pulling ahead by 6 points in a hard-fought battle against Democrat Mark Critz. (National Review’s Jim Geraghty says, “And if DK/R2000 are still using the same 2008 turnout model that all their other polls have used, Burns is actually up by a few points more.” ) Despite the encouraging news, this should be a down-to-the-wire fight in a district where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-to-1.

And, of course, if we win in PA-12, then the sky is the limit for November.

This race, coupled with Djou’s effort in Hawaii, will tell us a lot about where we are. Both seats have long been held by Democrats. Both have heavy Democrat registration advantages. Both are in blue States. Win here, and we can win everywhere.

Geithner, GM Lying About Debt Repayment

Least surprising news of the week:

Taxpayers are naturally eager for news about bailout repayments. But what neither G.M. nor the Treasury disclosed was that the company simply used other funds held by the Treasury to pay off its original loan.

Neil M. Barofsky, the inspector general overseeing the troubled asset program, revealed this detail when he spoke before the Senate Finance Committee on April 20.

“So it’s good news in that they’re reducing their debt,” Mr. Barofsky said of G.M. But he went on to note that G.M. was using other taxpayer money to make the loan repayment, according to the transcript of his testimony.

Armed with this information, Mr. Grassley fired off a letter to Mr. Geithner on April 22, asking for details of the transaction. “I am concerned … that this announcement is not what it seems,” he wrote. “In fact, it appears to be nothing more than an elaborate TARP money shuffle.”

Mr. Grassley heard back from the Treasury last Tuesday. Herbert M. Allison Jr., assistant secretary for financial stability, confirmed that the money G.M. used to repay its bailout loan had come from a taxpayer-financed escrow account held for the automaker at the Treasury.

GM and Treasury are still trying to spin this in a positive manner, but the cat is very much out of the bag. GM used one bit of taxpayer supplied funds to pay back another bit of taxpayer supplied funds. And as Treasury is involved, this is probably a move by the Obama Administration to make people feel better in advance of the November elections.

This is all we’re getting with Stimulus, TARP and all the rest of the nonsense: fake economic growth, fake debt repayment, fake “investment” in America. And its all done via ever more debt piled up on the productive class of the United States of America – already overburdened and increasingly impoverished.

When the crash comes, it will be quite devastating – and I think that people will have pointed and uncomfortable questions for those who sold this bill of goods.

Djou Leads in Hawaii Special Election Poll

Looking good:

You may have read in today’s Honolulu Advertiser that a new scientific poll shows us with an early 8 point lead as ballots start to arrive in voters’ mailboxes. Here are the numbers:

Charles Djou 36%

Ed Case 28%

Colleen Hanabusa 22%

As my wife and I walk the district, we are constantly reminded why I entered this race many months ago; because Congress is taking our nation in the wrong direction spending too much money on programs that don’t work with no plan to pay it back other than to hand the bill to our children. I’m humbled by the support we continue to receive and today’s poll validates what we have thought all along; our message of fiscal responsibility resonates with Hawaii voters. But, I also know it’s the voters’ judgment that ultimately counts, not any poll.

Which is, of course, very true. If you live in Hawaii, here is your chance – and how often does a Hawaiin GOPer/Conservative really get a chance to heavily impact national politics? Don’t let this opportunity slip – we send Djou to Congress, we send an unmistakable message that even in the Blue States, liberalism is on the run.

Gulf Oil Spill Worsens

This is looking pretty grim:

THE Gulf of Mexico oil spill may be growing five times faster than previously estimated and is in danger of accelerating out of control, it was claimed yesterday.

Experts said satellite data indicated the oil was gushing from BP’s sunken Deepwater Horizon rig at 25,000 barrels a day. Previous estimates had put the leak at 5,000 barrels a day.

Professor Ian MacDonald, an ocean specialist at Florida State University, said the new estimate suggested the leak had already spread 9m gallons of heavy crude oil across the Gulf. This compares with 11m that leaked from the Exxon Valdez tanker when it hit a reef off Alaska in 1989.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said deteriorating conditions on the sea bed may result in an even greater flow of 50,000 barrels a day, sufficient to produce one of America’s worst ecological disasters.

This looks like it will a big hit on people, on the economy and on the environment. And, folks, it does look like the Obama Administration has flubbed it pretty badly.

These are the liberals – the save-the-Earth tree huggers! Aren’t they supposed to be extra sensitive to these threats? I guess there wasn’t a fund raising angle nor a means to slander the TEA Party, and thus this passed under the radar until it got very late in the game.
