Ultra Liberal Education

And, somehow, it is sickly appropriate that its about masturbation:

It’s one of those things you wouldn’t think anyone needs to learn, but apparently, masturbation is an art in Spain.

So much so, in fact, that the country’s Extremadura region is launching a sex-education program centered around “self-pleasure.”

The Guardian reports that the $20,000 campaign includes workshops that feature masturbation instructions. There also are leaflets on self-respect and contraception.

The region’s socialist government aims to help teenagers with “sexual self-exploration and the discovery of self-pleasure.”

Laura Garrido, a youth council president, reveals that the campaign is supposed to remove the mystique surrounding sex.

“The campaign is simple, clear, natural and easily understood by the people it is aimed at, who are aged between 14 and 17,” she says.

A Spanish correspondent notes that Extremadura was the first region of Spain to go socialist in the post-Franco era, and is also the poorest region of Spain. So, after 30 years of failed economic policies, it is a natural that its time to teach the kiddies how to masturbate – of course, there is a slight hope that the government will prove as incompetent at this as they have been at economics. With a little luck, Extremadura will become the home of the most chaste population in the world.

Don’t think for a moment that our own liberals don’t want to bring this to the United States. You could bet your last dollar that they want it – they wish we were as “progressive” as Extremadura! Oh, the joys of jerking off! If only they could get hold of the kids and explain it to them! They’d make superb Obamaniacs!

Its what we fight against, good people – the concept that government has a role outside of law enforcement, national defense and emergency aid.

Back to September 10th

Yep:

Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, who as a judge presided over a trial stemming from the first attack on the World Trade Center, on Friday warned that the Obama administration’s decision to bring Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to New York, along with three other terrorist detainees, to stand trial in a civilian court, reflected a pre-9/11 mindset that viewed terrorism as a simple criminal matter.

Speaking at the Federalist Society’s National Lawyers Convention, Mukasey described the move, as “a decision I consider not only unwise, but based on a refusal to face the fact that what we are involved with here is a war with people who follow a religiously-based ideology that calls on them to kill us, and to return instead to the mindset that prevailed before Sept. 11 that acts like the first World Trade Center bombing, the attacks on our embassies in Africa and other such acts can and should be treated as conventional crimes and tried in conventional courts.”

Describing a pattern of decisions made since the the Obama administration pledged in January to close Guantanamo Bay prison within a year, Mukasey said that, “What’s followed has seemed in many instances to be a system in which policy is fashioned to fit and proceed rhetoric rather than being thought out in advance with arguments then formulated in support of it.”

Rush was theorizing yesterday that, perhaps, this was all just a sop to the left so that they can – in discovery – find “evidence” against Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld to get them indicted by the ICC or some other foreign court. Such cannot be discounted – but in my view its ok if we just figure that this was the triumph of ideology over common sense. Leftist ideology says that the worse the criminal, the more should be accorded him in order to be “fair” because a really horrible criminal is someone who has just been that much worse victimized by society. If KSM really did mastermind 9/11 (and do pay attention to Holder’s use of the word “alleged” in his statement), then it probably stems from his childhood…or just about anything of than radical Islam or KSM’s own moral failings.

But our desire here is justice, and a trial is not necessarily justice (see the OJ verdict). Especially in today’s world where all too many attorneys are relentlessly dishonest, trials are mostly about suppressing the truth and avoiding justice at all costs. Justice dictates that KSM and the rest never be at liberty, again. I know that many want them executed, but I’m not in favor of the death penalty, even for such as KSM. But he must be forever prevented from harming others – and this means confinement and if there’s even an outside chance he would walk in a civil trial, then such a trial must not happen. If he behaves in prison we can grant him many privileges – but the only way he should get out is in a box.

Its a hard thing to do – but KSM is a hard man who came up second in his chosen game. No one put a gun to his head and forced him to become a terrorist – he did it because he wanted to, and there’s an end on it, for him. To bring him to America and put him on trial in our courts is (a) stupid because law doesn’t cover things like this and (b) counter productive because it just allows evil greater scope for propaganda.

We are certainly back in to a pre-9/11 mindset – lets hope it doesn’t end with more planes being crashed in to buildings.

Inheriting What?

To listen to Obama whine, you’d think that the first 43 presidents inherited peaches and cream while poor, little Barry got stuck with a unique “mess” left by President Bush. Victor Davis Hanson reminds us that this just isn’t true:

George W. Bush inherited a recession. He also inherited the Iraq no-fly zones, a Middle East boiling after the failed last-minute Clintonian rush for an imposed peace, an intelligence community wedded to the notion of Saddam’s WMD proliferation, a Congress on record supporting “regime change” in Iraq, a WMD program in Libya, a Syrian occupation of Lebanon, Osama bin Laden enjoying free rein in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, a renegade Pakistan that had gone nuclear on Clinton’s watch with Dr. Khan in full export mode, and a pattern of appeasing radical Islam after its serial attacks (on the World Trade Center, the Khobar Towers, U.S. embassies, and the U.S.S. Cole).

In other words, Bush inherited the regular “stuff” that confronts most presidents when they take office. What is strange is that Obama has established a narrative that he, supposedly unlike any other president, inherited a mess.

What you have is what you have and you deal with it as best you can – no one is going to hold Obama responsible for Bush’s decisions (though, of course, the left did hold Bush responsible for Clinton’s decisions…which is odd, but not as incredible as their attempts to hold Bush responsible for Obama’s decisions). We know things weren’t perfect on January 20th, 2009 and that Obama had many difficult issues to deal with – just as Sarah Pal…eerrrrmmm, I mean…just as whomever wins in 2012 will have to take things as they are and move on. But to Obama and his sycophants, its all Bush’s fault and must remain so – lest The One be tainted as less than Olympian in his perfection.

Its wearing thin, lefties – you’re beginning to bore us with your phony moralizing, and annoy us with your cowardly unwillingness to shoulder responsibility.

FHA, Used to Prop up Housing in a Collapsing Market, Heads for Bailout City

Because that is what happens when you throw good money after bad:

The Federal Housing Administration, which propped up the collapsing housing market last year, acknowledged yesterday that it has drained its cash reserves to dangerously low levels, heightening concerns that it might need a taxpayer bailout.

The agency, which guarantees loans for many first-time homebuyers, could be hit if housing prices lose ground or if a new wave of mortgage defaults, triggered by double-digit unemployment, crashes into the market in the coming months.

If the FHA runs into financial trouble, it could make it more difficult for borrowers to get loans, particularly first-time buyers.

Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan said while an independent audit showed that the FHA burned through its backup fund as defaults and foreclosures spiked during the mortgage crisis, the analysis also showed that the agency should remain solvent under “most economic scenarios,’’ including higher unemployment and mortgage defaults.

Which is Donovan whistling past the graveyard because the expectation is for higher defaults, increased foreclosures, lower prices and higher unemployment in 2010. “Most economic scenarios” is probably “most of the stuff we spun back in February about the stimulus”.

The crash in FHA is coming – the next Freddie and Fannie.

Ohio Turning Red

It was, after all, just a matter of time:

Quinnipiac’s second eye-opening poll of the day:

For the first time, Republican Rob Portman is inching ahead of the two Democrats in the 2010 race for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Also for the first time, Ohio voters disapprove 50 – 45 percent of the job President Barack Obama is doing, down from his 53 – 42 percent approval September 16 and 49 – 44 percent approval July 7.

Unless Obama pivots quickly and starts governing like Clinton post-1994, the Democrats are going to be in deep trouble next year. Socialism, gay marriage, federally funded abortion, weak national defense, political correctness, Chicago corruption…just not wanted, I’m afraid. Sorry, Democrats, but you’re going to have to try something different.

Terrorist Trial Monumental Leftist Idiocy Open Thread

Discuss how stupid AG Holder’s decision to try the terrorists in New York really is. Consider the following:

1. What if some or all of them walk on a technicality?

2. What if a New York jury decides to acquit because they hate Chimpy McSmirk BusHilter and think that is what liberalism demands?

3. How much will it cost to bring these terrorists to trial?

4. How much will taxpayer’s pony up to provide lawyers?

5. How many years between today and actual trial date?

6. What will be the effect of these men being able to make Islamist statements inside a US court, for Al Jazeera to broadcast around the world?

7. Is Eric Holder the primary idiot, here, or is it Barack Obama?

Obama Adds $176 Billion to the Debt

Just in October:

The U.S. budget deficit for October surged to $176 billion, a record for the month, the Treasury Department announced today.

During the month, the government racked up $311 billion in outlays compared with $135 billion in receipts.

The October numbers mark the first month for the new fiscal year after the U.S. wrapped up the 2009 fiscal year that ended on September 30 with a record-high $1.4 trillion budget deficit due to increased government spending to stop the recession and the financial crisis. The final deficit for the 2009 fiscal year was equal to 10 percent of the nation’s GDP…

Just glad we did it ’cause it stopped us from having unemployment rise above 8%…

How’s that “hope and change” thing working out for you, liberals?

UPDATE: But don’t worry! The President is going to talk about it, some more.
