Phrase of the Day

What should be our rallying cry:

You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. – Winston Churchill

ACORN Becomes COI

Why? Probably for the same reason the NKVD eventually changed its name to the KGB – fascist groups who get a bad rep figure that if they shove their name down the memory hole, people won’t make the connection:

Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) leaders are using the threat of a law suit to silence and intimidate critics, according to current and former members of the liberal activist group. In a letter dated June 11 an attorney for ACORN advised top whistleblowers that their unauthorized use of the organization’s name could make them liable for monetary damages and injunctive relief.

ACORN executives have also changed their organization’s name, which was tarnished by investigations in at least 14 states of allegations of voter registration fraud during the 2008 presidential campaign, and charges by current and former members of financial mismanagement and misrepresentation.

The new name will let ACORN leaders continue their operations without worrying about prior bad publicity, according to Marcel Reid of ACORN 8, a group of present and former members.

“We’ve known for many months now that the name ACORN is going to be retired,” Reid said. “The name has been so damaged to the point where the leadership knows it simply can’t go on as it has with the ACORN label out front and center, especially after all of the reporting.” In fact, the process has already begun, she noted. Wade Rathke, who founded the organization, announced on his blog that ACORN International has officially changed its name to “Community Organizations International.”

Same criminals will run the show; we can expect the same corrupt, anti-American and anti-democratic tactics from this grab bag of fascists. And this is the proud backers of “community organizing” and Barack Obama, you liberals – proud of yourselves. Look yourselves in the mirror and feel good about being associated with such people?

American People Waking up to the Reality of Obamunism

From Rasmussen:

While most U.S. voters still blame the Bush Administration for the nation’s economic problems, a growing number are inclined to blame President Barack Obama.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% of voters now say the country’s economic problems are caused more by the policies Obama has put in place. That’s a 12-point jump from a month ago.

Just wait until unemployment is at 15%…

Question for Liberals

Since you guys have been saying for 26 years that SDI wouldn’t work and your own guy, Obama, campaign against SDI…why is Obama deploying SDI around Hawaii under threat of a NK missile launch? Shouldn’t he just say “there’s nothing we can do to stop it because – as I stated in my campaign – SDI doesn’t work…but, don’t worry, if NK does nuke Hawaii, we’ll nuke them to heck and gone because the way to ensure nuclear peace is via mutual assured destruction”?

Come now, liberals, what have you to say?

Stand Aside on Iran? (Bumped)

If you can watch this video (warning, graphic) and say we should still engage the mullahs and not take sides…then you are lacking all sense of love for your fellow human beings.

UPDATE: Could it be that Obama is going soft on the mullahs because he doesn’t want to risk nuclear negotiations? Probably – so, in order to secure a nuclear deal the mullahs won’t honor, we are going to throw our honor into the sewer and leave the Iranian people to their fate. Makes me sick.

UPDATE II: Gay Patriot notes that we can – and should – be unified on this issue:

On Friday night in synagogue, I approached a left-of-center friend of mine, like me, wearing a green shirt. I asked if she were wearing that color “for the right reason.” Indeed, she was, replying that this was one issue, like Darfur, where conservatives and liberals were in agreement.

While I would dare say there are few more such issues, I was delighted that she and I agreed on this one. She is a good person who actually listens to me when I explain my positions on various social and political issues. I can only hope that I have shown as much respect for her views as she has for mine.

UPDATE III: As events unfold in Iran, I have to ask – does President Obama consider, even for a moment, what he’d do if it were his older daughter shot down by inhuman thugs? I know, that’s harsh – but we have to be. We can no longer afford the niceties, nor can we pretend we don’t understand what is really at stake. A society which cannot protect young, innocent girls is not a society worthy of survival. The question to ask ourselves is not, “what if we end up making it worse?” but, instead, “is there anything actually worse than a fine, young lady being butchered on the street?”. There’s nothing we can do regarding Iran which will make a situation worse than what there already is and anything we do may very well make it much better. So, let’s do it. Let’s roll, in the words of an American hero.

There is much we can do without taking a direct hand – we can blow up Iran’s sole oil refinery, thus cutting off Iran’s government from the gasoline necessary to move their gangs of thugs around the country; we can intercept, on the quiet, Iranian oil shipments, thus cutting off the money Iran’s government needs to pay the gangs of thugs; we can hamper at a thousand points Iran’s ability to oppress its own people…and anyone out there who says that American action will cause the Iranian people to rally to their inhuman regime are just being absurd “oh, ok, since Americans are willing to help me, I’m going to join up with those who murdered my daughter in cold blood”…that is what you have to believe the Iranian people will do, if you really think that American action will give support to Iran’s government.

Fight and fight and then fight some more – we must become, in a large sense, knights who will do battle with injustice and evil regardless of the risk to ourselves.

White House Officials: Don't Believe Everything Obama Says on Healthcare

More and more, it just seems that Obama’s the good looking guy who can read the teleprompter best:

After President Obama’s big speech on health care, I was among the first to note that I couldn’t see how he could possibly keep his promises. Now, according to the Associated Press, the White House has backed off Obama’s promises made just last Monday…

…Here is Mike Gonzalez at Heritage on Friday:

Less than 24 hours after Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner questioned the veracity of President Obama’s persistent claim that, under his health care proposals, “if you like your insurance package you can keep it”, the White House has begun to walk the President’s claim back. Turns out he didn’t really mean it.

According to the Associated Press, “White House officials suggest the president’s rhetoric shouldn’t be taken literally: What Obama really means is that government isn’t about to barge in and force people to change insurance.” How’s that for change you can believe in?

I’m sorry, but it seems to me that “White House officials suggest the president’s rhetoric shouldn’t be taken literally” means, “look, we just have Obama to say things really well to gull the fools, but we’re going to do whatever the heck we want, instead”. Quite honestly, I don’t know how we can rely on any Presidential statement – we’ll never know if it was given to Obama as window dressing or if its the real policy he’s being told to advance. Who did we elect President?
