Perry Announcement Video

Perry gave a pretty good speech – he seems to understand the depth of our problem and the massive changes we’ll need to survive.  Time will tell if he wears well on the campaign trail…but he’d be a vastly better President than Obama, of that we can be certain.

As a lifetime Texan, I believe Rick will follow through with what he has stated. He is a good man. He is both a social and fiscal conservative. I only hope that he team is prepared for the attacks that will come including the comparisons with GWB, the “secession” comment, etc. I believe he can answer those critics. As I heard someone say, he seems to have the “fire in his belly” for this fight…maybe much more than the others. His philosophy is what we need…less govt. He can certainly use that as his striking sword against the last four years of too much govt interference…look where that has taken us…It will be interesting to see how the race changes.

I liked the succession remark, put those Klowns in DC on notice do not mess with the SOVEREIGN state of Texas.

      • thomasg0102 August 14, 2011 / 1:17 pm

well we could take your comments seriously if you knew the difference between succession and secession. But that’s another matter.

The fact is that Texas has the largest percentage of uninsured, one of the highest poverty rates, and one of the worst education systems in the nation. YES! let’s go with perry!!!

The guy is a religious freak, and he will lose out to Romney I believe in the end.

Neo, won’t you love voting for Romney???

      Thomasg0102..

I am an administrator in a school in TEXAS…I take great exception to the remark about “worst education in the nation”…Unless you are in the educational system in Texas then you are listening to someone else’s talking point…As someone who lives this everyday…The people in the educational system are mostly wonderful…the problem is the federal and state education agencies and laws/policies that are over the top and result in obnoxious amounts of paper work and red tape…Although the spirit of NCLB is ok the ratings system and mandates that go with it are not good. This is not Rick Perry’s fault and money is not the answer.

      • Dave August 14, 2011 / 2:14 pm

“This guy is a religious freak”….again you are listening to someone else’s talking point…So politicians cannot have any religious or spiritual thoughts, comments, etc????

If that is true then you would have to call almost all of our founding fathers “religious” freaks and tear down most of the monuments in DC which include bible verses.

Perry is a good man and isn’t on a religious crusade…He lives and works and governs by his values (in this case Christian values)…which has led to Parental notification, parental consent, and a sonogram bill that is good. In my book those are worthy causes and laws.

        Dave,

I like reading your posts and agree on nearly every point. You do need to know that thomas is simply another, in a long line, of brain dead liberal posters, that simply regurgitate the DNC line without a critical thought in his head. DWS is proud to have such a loyal minion.

      • thomasg0102 August 14, 2011 / 4:47 pm

        Dave,

        point by point

I am an administrator in a school in TEXAS

I live in Texas as well. i went to private schools all my life except for college which was UT. Public school standards in Texas are some of the lowest in the nation. don’t take my word for it., look it up.

…I take great exception to the remark about “worst education in the nation”…Unless you are in the educational system in Texas then you are listening to someone else’s talking point…

again, see above. there aren’t talking points when your state ranks in the lower 4 year after year for standardized tests scores and graduation rates and dropout rates.

As someone who lives this everyday…The people in the educational system are mostly wonderful…

nobody said the people aren’t wonderful. Their results are what we are discussing.

the problem is the federal and state education agencies and laws/policies that are over the top and result in obnoxious amounts of paper work and red tape..

yes, we agree, the state of Texas has the worst education administration in the nation.

This is not Rick Perry’s fault and money is not the answer.

he has been governor for 11 years. so what is his fault?

      • thomasg0102 August 14, 2011 / 4:51 pm

        Dave,

again, point by point. you’re incredibly misinformed.

This guy is a religious freak”….again you are listening to someone else’s talking point…So politicians cannot have any religious or spiritual thoughts, comments, etc????

NOBODY ever said that. Bush was religious and he never held a prayer session to end a texas drought. If you don’t think its kind of dicey for a governor of a state to hold a prayer session while he is in office…then you must be just as religious as him.

If that is true then you would have to call almost all of our founding fathers “religious” freaks and tear down most of the monuments in DC which include bible verses.

Talking points. the founding fathers were not all religious as is evident by some of their writing. Again, that has nothing to do with today. And tell us, which monuments in DC include bible verses?

Perry is a good man and isn’t on a religious crusade…He lives and works and governs by his values (in this case Christian values)…which has led to Parental notification, parental consent, and a sonogram bill that is good.

great for you. You like a religious man who governs a SECULAR nation via his religious values. Kind of weird, but ok. Also, since when is it good to have people look at sonograms before an abortion? that’s kind of impeding on their rights isn’t it? what if you don’t want to see the sonogram? tough luck?

You conservatives want smaller government, except when it involves issues you want enforced. I get it.

      • Sunny August 15, 2011 / 2:54 pm

You can thank your fellow Texan, GWB, for the red tape and obnoxious amounts of paper work. NCLB – what a disaster.

        no refute?
look like my roll rolled over your turban.

  3. Green Mountain Boy August 14, 2011 / 2:37 pm

Lets see how how Perry does in the next debate. He has economic record that is none too good. He IS pretty much a life long politician. Two very big strikes against him in my book. There are some, not including me, who have had thier fill of Texan Governors and will never vote for him.

I will give him a chance to earn my vote. I am not looking forward to casting my ballot for that loony toony Paul fella.

  4. Cluster August 14, 2011 / 5:03 pm

There use to be a time in America when parents and teachers were responsible for a childs educational achievements. Now, liberals like thomas expect the governor to be responsible, reminding us all again that if liberals have their way, we will be governed by a select group of elite politicans. Historically this has never turned out well, but liberals are completely out of ideas.

Instead, conservatives will return control of educational standards back to parents and teachers, and will charge the governor with actually governing the affairs of the state, rather than running a day care. America needs smaller, more efficient, more effective government targeted towards actually helping those in need and not demonizing those who succeed.

    • thomasg0102 August 14, 2011 / 5:07 pm

blah blah blah blah…..talking points and nothing but bs.

you accuse the other side of being out of ideas? tell us cluster, how many conservatives have done what you claim they stand for?

you’re an idiot and a gullible one at that.

the sooner your ilk loses, the better.

      • Cluster August 14, 2011 / 5:18 pm

Excellent response thomas, well thought out and very well reasoned. Liberals, democrats and Obama have no innovative ideas on how to govern society other than big government, big spending and centralized control. Obama, and other democrats, are calling for more spending, more government, and are dividing America along class lines in a desperate attempt to hold onto power. These are the same failed policies of the last two and half years, yet they ignore the facts and plow forward. This is a sure sign that they have really have no idea on what to do next.

      • Cluster August 14, 2011 / 5:27 pm

I am surprised you didn’t reference my skin color, as you did on the other thread. Doesn’t skin color have a lot to do with politics?

And the J in Jesus should be capitalized. Just saying. .

  5. Cluster August 14, 2011 / 5:49 pm

You like a religious man who governs a SECULAR nation via his religious values. Kind of weird, but ok.- thomas

Hasn’t Obama tried to convince the nation that he is a Christian, and that his Faith is his foundation?

Yes I think he has. Is that weird thomas.
