Obama Jobs Bill: Billions for ACORN and the Left

From Pajamas Media:

ACORN and other radical left-wing groups would be eligible for up to $15 billion in federal funding if President Obama’s new economic stimulus package becomes law.

Now that public polling shows Americans are realizing that economic stimulus programs don’t work, the Obama administration is calling the latest round of futile stimulus a “jobs bill.” In a sense it really is a jobs bill: a jobs bill for Saul Alinsky-inspired community organizers.

The draft legislation, which had not yet been introduced in Congress at press time, makes ACORN, Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA), and a phalanx of leftist groups that regularly feed at the public trough eligible for funding…

With the left getting rebellious over Obama’s failure to turn America fully socialist, Obama has to do something to recover their support…and there is nothing a leftist likes better than some taxpayer swag.  To be sure, this doesn’t mean that all $15 billion so earmarked would go to ACORN and similar groups, but with that much cash flowing you know that such groups would pick up at least hundreds of millions…and, perhaps, billions.

This is probably part of the reason Obama wants it passed as is – if he can’t payoff his supporters, there is simply no upside to the bill.  It won’t improve the economy, it won’t create jobs…it won’t, that is, do anything to help Obama in the larger sense, so it had better at least solidify his leftist support.  If the GOP is allowed a say, then the payoffs won’t be in the final bill.

Kill this bill – don’t even think about passing it.  Pass a GOP jobs bill out of the House and let Reid kill that in the Senate, or Obama veto it after passage.  We have no reason to work with the President and the Democrats, at all, because their efforts are not directed at helping America, but at helping themselves.  Let the people decide in 2012 what they want – legislation which is just a payoff for cronies, or legislation that will actually help the United States.

    From a March 2010 article:

A statement from a national spokesman for the group reads:

“The ACORN Association Board met on Sunday March 21 and approved a set of steps to responsibly manage the process of bringing its operations to a close over the coming months. These include:

    * Closing ACORN’s remaining state affiliates and field offices by April 1st; and
    * Developing a plan to resolve all outstanding debts, obligations and other issues.”

I thought this was a defunct organization.

Yes, I remember you so vehemently argued that ACORN did not exist no matter what proof was provided to you.

So did tommy-boy and jeffy (bodie)….

No matter what proof we provided you drones – “They don’t exist!!” Plus, bodie and tommy-boy lost control of their bladders and hurled their usual insults after no one took their word as gospel.

Yet, they are bitch-slapped again, by their OWN PRESIDENT who they also vehemently defend.

I guess they confused their talking points. Why would the president want to finance a defunct organization?

      Hmmmmmmmmm……..

Were you posting while drinking, tired?

“We have no reason to work with the President and the Democrats”

It is nice that you’re finally dropping the (already flimsy) pretense of putting country before party and admitting that, no, it’s party all the way.

Why do you expect different results from the same policy. The first stimulus didn’t work but this one will? Oh right we didn’t spend enough the first time and 450 to 650 billion ,more will do the trick.

Do you promise it will work this time? Of course you do. You folks have been promising that since Novemer, 1917.

      • Cluster's avatar Cluster September 16, 2011 / 5:12 pm

Actually bodie, NOT compromising with Obama IS putting country before party.

      • Bodie's avatar Bodie September 16, 2011 / 5:19 pm

Funny, I figured spook would post that before you, cluster. But I suppose you are pretty interchangeable, particularly when it comes to your defensiveness.

      • Cluster's avatar Cluster September 16, 2011 / 5:21 pm

And more words that say nothing from Bodie. No surprise.

      • Bodie's avatar Bodie September 16, 2011 / 5:26 pm

Sorry for pointing out the obvious, cluster. I know you hate that.

What was the obvious bodie? I have to admit I have difficulty interpreting your brain damage.

  3. Green Mountain Boy's avatar Green Mountain Boy September 16, 2011 / 5:32 pm

Bodie is there anything specific in this new bill that will actually change anything? If the first stimulus didn’t didn’t work, what is it about this bill that will?

One of these days I will learn to proof read…:P

The proposed employment in this bill is all temporary jobs. Construction jobs are temporary – once the project is completed those jobs go away. The proposed employment of teachers, police, etc, will all become the burden of the state tax payers once the stimulus money runs out, and since most states are broke, those jobs will also disappear. I wonder if Bodie could us how temporary jobs will permanently fix the economy.

The only part of ACORN that is gone is the name ACORN. This so called jobs bill is just another scam to buy liberal votes and pay off political debts.

  7. David's avatar David September 16, 2011 / 10:12 pm

ACORN helps poor people find housing and pay their taxes correctly. How is that radical leftism? I was under the impression Jesus was a big fan of helping the poor.

What does it mean for a country to be “fully socialist” and who do you think is advocating that?

    • neocon1's avatar neocon1 September 17, 2011 / 9:31 am

      casper id dat U ??

What does it mean for a country to be “fully socialist” and who do you think is advocating that?

      • David's avatar David September 17, 2011 / 9:39 pm

It’s a legitimate question. Obama is one of the most conservative Democrats out there and most Democrats are supporting him, so I’m wondering who the socialists are.

        I don’t know who/what casper is.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona September 18, 2011 / 11:32 am

“Obama is one of the most conservative Democrats out there..”

So now David is explained—he lives in an alternate universe, one in which “radical Leftist with strong Marxist beliefs” is now “…one of the most conservative Democrats out there…” It’s probably the same alternate universe where Hillary has great legs and Social Security is solvent and all we need to do to “end poverty” is hand out OPM.

David, if you hoped to post here as a rational observer of the political goings-on of the nation, you just blew it, big time. ONE OF THE MOST CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS OUT THERE !!!????

Or are you admitting that the radical International Left truly has subsumed the entire Democratic Party, leaving Dear Leader and his Marxist dreams as “… one of the most conservative Democrats out there..”?

Nah…even in the world of the radical International Left, Barry would stand out as a radical Leftist.

        Sorry, David. You’ve outed yourself.

      • Bodie's avatar Bodie September 18, 2011 / 5:24 pm

The only alternate universe is yours, Amazona–the one in which Obama is a “radical leftist with Marxist beliefs.” But you’ve been living int hat alternate universe for so long, you’ve utterly forgotten what the real world is like, so one can’t even say that you “outed” yourself as a raving lunatic; you’re just continuing to be a raving lunatic is all.

Hey, if Bachmann can conjure up the Soviet Union to instill fear and hatred into the conservative lizard brain, why not ACORN, too?

The problem liberals refuse to consider is that it works. We repeatedly mistakenly believe that everyone is laughing at these little foibles and factually challenged misstatements. They are not.

“Soooo, we’re supposed to believe that all those ACORN thugs were let go and they all went out and got real jobs? Not buyin’ it.”

“. If anyone thinks they’ve been defunded you don’t know how the Left works in this country.”

The stupid burns. And never ends.

the burning stupid has to be you, scummy, and dopeydavid. A trifecta of ignorance, stupidity and the brain damage of a lefty.
      liberalism is a mental disorder.

      • neocon1's avatar neocon1 September 17, 2011 / 9:31 am

ACORN like the unions and the DNC are criminal enterprises.

  9. watsonredux's avatar watsonredux September 17, 2011 / 3:16 pm

You’ve outdone yourself on this one, Mark. ACORN doesn’t exist anymore. It closed all of its chapters in 2009 and 2010, and in November 2010 it filed for bankruptcy and closed. Not that facts would get in the way of a good headline, eh? You know, you have all the makings required to become a mainstream media type, although, alas, they don’t make, mine or grow anything either.

    • neocon1's avatar neocon1 September 17, 2011 / 5:36 pm

Since no one believes anything you say, you’ll have to provide some evidence. But even if it’s a different name, the Mark’s headline and article are still wrong. Try again, NeoClown.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona September 18, 2011 / 11:59 am

ACORN and other radical left-wing groups would be eligible for up to $15 billion in federal funding if President Obama’s new economic stimulus package becomes law.”

So watson claims Mark is wrong, even though the statement is clear. Evidently nit-picky watty believes Mark should have written ACORN, under its original name or any of its new aliases, and other radical left-wing groups would be eligible for up to $15 billion in federal funding if President Obama’s new economic stimulus package becomes law.”

So no, the headline and article are not wrong, watson, they just do not fit into your highly personal and biased framework of acceptable phrasing.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona September 18, 2011 / 11:51 am

And “socialism” doesn’t exist any more, either—–Liberalism and Progressivism have different names, so they are not the same.

Actually, when “Liberal” became such a toxic label, it absolutely ceased to exist—–CEASED!! I tell you!!!—-when it adopted the word “Progressive”.

This whole claim of ACORN being gone is just another example of the American Left’s simple-mindedness, and its abject ignorance of the underlying philosophies of its branches. To the simple-minded American Lefty (sorry for the redundancy) who can’t be bothered to actually LEARN anything about whatever it is he is bleating about so earnestly, it’s all about the name. Or the person. It’s Identity Politics, writ large.

Those of us who base our political philosophies on the understanding of the underlying dogmas, agendas and tenets are not so easily distracted by simple name changes. But to Velma et al, change the name and SHAZAAM!! the entire entity ceases to exist!

And David, poor David, what can we say about David? Other than that this persona is purblind dumb as a box of hair, that is. David not only believes (because to use the word “think” in relationship to anything David posts would be too surreal) that Obama is “one of the most conservative Democrats ‘out there’ ” he also spouts this giddy head-in-the-clouds nonsense: ACORN helps poor people find housing and pay their taxes correctly. Awww, ain’t that sweet? Except for leaving out the bullying and blackmailing of lenders, the shuffling of federal funds so no one knows where they have gone, the refusal to prosecute the brother of its leader after he embezzled a million dollars, etc. Nope, to the starry-eyed ignorant among us, all ACORN ever did was HELLLLP people!

And, as David further bleats, “How is that radical leftism?”

Come on, David, you have already established your creds as a brainless tool of the Left—you can stop proving the well-proven.

But no…David has one more shot to fire. Or, more accurately, misfire. You see, he makes the same mistake so many of his fellow travelers make, in trying to use the words of someone he has no knowledge of, or respect for, to try to make a silly Leftist point, I was under the impression Jesus was a big fan of helping the poor.

Uh, yeah, David, I’m sure you were under this “impression”. But do yourself a favor and don’t try this silly tactic again. Jesus was, as you so cutely put it, “..a big fan of helping the poor…” by acts of personal effort and sacrifice. There is no place in the teachings of this man the Left only drags in when you think you can make a point, using the words of someone you disdain, where He instructs anyone to use Other People’s Money (or love, or energy, or resources, or time) to do ANYTHING. Jesus taught personal salvation, and salvation, no matter what Radical Leftist Obama claims, IS personal.
