Can I Hear An AMEN?

I am a Catholic– A fallen-away Catholic, but a Catholic, to be sure. I believe in the infallible tenets of the Trinity, the Immaculate Conception, Transubstantiation, and other Church doctrine; but I could no longer abide the turn for the worse in these past four decades in how the middle-heirarchy of the Church, mainly Bishops (and errant Priests) led the Flock astray, by promoting a godless, unattainable socialist utopia on earth via the “social justice” movement. They would get in bed with anyone to make it happen, including the most pro-abortion President in the history of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama. They were more than willing to walk over the corpses of dead babies if it were to achieve their godless, earthly dream–

And then I saw this article, on Red State this morning, and I said AMEN!!! Someone gets it and isn’t afraid to excoriate the Bishops who have led their flock astray–

These are just a few of the paragraphs– I encourage everyone to read the whole enchilada– this NEEDS to be said to save the Catholic Church!

Quote:
Back when there was a New Ledger, I wrote a now long-forgotten piece excoriating the Bishops in this country for complicity in its passage, for not speaking up, for not excommunicating the public officials who actively fight for the abortion license despite the infallible teachings of our Church — and by extension, for enabling a culture of license that enables the Culture of Death. (Piece stolen here; TNL no longer publishes essays.)I stand by every word, and would like to add a few things. Let me start with the most basic one.

You can all, each of you, and I say this after a week of prayerful meditation and with all of the respect I can give, go straight to the darkest pit in the lowest valley of the Ninth Layer of Hell and burn there.

It was easy to sell out the unborn, wasn’t it? To just wish away an infallible teaching that — let’s be honest — has been such a headache since a Catholic Supreme Court Justice helped its mass breaking, and Catholic Democrats abandoned everything else to protect that breach, right? To let others commit a sin that our Church treats as so grave that it incurs the automatic sanction of excommunication? All in return for a goal you’ve shared with your Democrat masters since the 1940s — a chance to drive healthcare costs through the roof with the fig leaf of social caring. All so you could work with the sorts of people who are elected to office by publicly calling you theocrats and misogynists for more-or-less upholding the two-thousand-year-old Tradition of our Church.

Thirty pieces of silver must buy one Hell of a lot more for you than it does for me.

Who among you has stepped forward to say, Whoops! Or, We are infallible on matters of faith expressed through the Tradition or through an ecumenical Council, but we can err on policy, and hoo-boy, did we blow this one. Who among you spoke out last week and said, Attention my flock: I must now inform you that the Democratic Party has proven once and for all that if you vote for a Democrat in this country, you engage in material cooperation with evil. We will now be holding weekly mass Confession to handle the backlog until it clears.

Because that is truth. In 2009 and 2010, nominally faithful Catholics who value all of the policy choices you do — labor unions, forced charity, high rates of taxation, urban ghettoes, and of course, universal “health care” — and who claimed to be ardent defenders of the unborn sold out to a one, sacrificed millions of babies and betrayed the infallible teaching of their faith so they could get one gigantic step closer to the social justice you so crave.

And for that, for that moment when they put aside their baptismal and confirmation vows, repeated every Easter, and their recitation of whatever version of the Nicene Creed you’ve settled on this week, your response was … applause. Silence. Satisfaction. A professed willingness to work with the Administration.

You made all of this possible. For almost my entire life, you have given my fellow Catholics every reason to believe they can freely sin, and hey, no problem, so long as they favor higher taxation and government spending. They can murder the unborn, and I have had all of two homilies, two, in my entire time as a Catholic, which is to say from birth and for the thirty-five years after, in parishes and dioceses across the country, in which a priest has said, If you have had, caused, or aided in obtaining an abortion, and you take communion today, you will go to Hell. You look out into your emptying pews, terrified of the wood you see and the flesh you don’t, through families of one, two, or sometimes amazingly three children, and think, Well, at least they’re still coming, as if you do not understand the connection between these things.

This–the ENTIRE ARTICLE– is what should be read from EVERY pulpit this Sunday!

The social justice movement is infiltrating many mainstream Protestant denominations too. My wife and I went to Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally in D.C. in August, 2010. A month later, there was another large rally in the same place, the One Nation Rally, a conglomeration of communist, socialist, radical Leftists, labor unions and (drum roll please) numerous church organizations including the Methodist Church that I was raised in. We still have good friends from our old church, and when I emailed them the link to the One Nation Rally showing the Methodist Church as one of the sponsors, they were embarrassed beyond belief. They went straight to their pastor and confronted him. He in turn called their District Superintendent who acknowledged that complaints were pouring in from all over. Within a day or two, the Methodist Church has pulled its sponsorship of the event.

This next election is about nothing less than the soul of America. The modern Left has corrupted everything it’s touched, our schools, our courts, our government, and now our institutions of faith. It’s long past time that we drew a line in the sand and said, no more.

Christopher Badeaux – “despite the infallible teachings of our Church…”

    Your church teachings? Infallible? Please.

How about Mitt Romney’s church teachings? How about Martin Luther King’s church teachings? How about Nelson Mandela’s? How about mine, for that matter? Why should I or anyone else give your church teachings precedence over theirs, particularly in light of many of the unsavory characters in the Roman Catholic chain of supposed “apostolic succession” from Peter to the present day. Which presumes papal infallibility for each, incidentally, in their presumed roles as vicar of the Son of God.

    Again, please spare us.

I could appreciate Badeaux’s zeal for the pro-life cause if all, or even most, of the Catholics I knew truly held a reverence for all life. They do not. When he suggests “if you vote for a Democrat in this country, you engage in material cooperation with evil,” without saying the same for the other side of the coin, the Republican Party, he engages in sophistry to the point of self-delusion. He is merely choosing one brand of evil over another – purely an aesthetic decision, not one based on any perceptible moral principle.

One side allows people the liberty of conscience that includes the possibility of taking the life of the unborn. The other side encourages war which steals the lives of the already-born, people with hopes and dreams and loved ones. Which is worse? The babies are so innocent, yet so unaware. The living are confirmed sinners, every one – yet fully aware, moral creatures with active consciences and self-awareness. And that is merely for starters. The whole reality is infinitely more fraught with contradictions, extending outward like fractal patterns covering the quantum universe.

Politics includes so many aspects of human existence, so many moral dimensions it is simplistic to the point of banality to reduce it to such partisan polarity. If such reductionist thinking helps one person get through their day I can easily forgive that. If it becomes institutionalized, however, it becomes another great evil to fight against.

“It was easy to sell out the unborn, wasn’t it? ”

    Yes it was.

What you sow, so shall you reap. Todays katolisher church bears little resemblence to the church of even 50 years ago. The sell out was easy. It was also shown in the very book that the katolics purport to believe in, that it would happen.

Find yourself an uncorrupted version of the bible not filled with humanist tripe and social justice bull. Then form your own church.

Churches like governments are best when the ran locally.

So all of these problems within the Catholic Church have to be about “a turn to the left.” You’ver really left me shaking my head this morning. First of all Leo there is nothinbg infallible about the teachings of a church that would allow for the serial rape of children and the covering up of thoise crimes for decades. I find disconcerting that you can focus on the plight of the unborn but you dare not mention the thousands both in the US and in Ireland that were beaten, tortured and sexually assaulted in their innocent years by priests and nuns alike.

  6. Leo Pusateri February 7, 2012 / 8:49 am

Dennis, if you’re a believing Catholic, you believe in its basic tenets and infallible teachings– that’s part of being a Catholic. Not everything in the Catholic Church is infallible– such as operating policies, or what social agenda it wants to promote at a particular time in history. This is an internal squabble, Dennis.

    • Diane Valencen, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H [Journ.], ArF J., M.F. February 7, 2012 / 8:53 am

When 50.1% of the world’s population is Catholic Leo then you will have a leg to stand on regarding these issues. Until then I suggest your church clean its own backyard up and hope it can find again the message it was created to bring to the world. America is a secular nation made up of diverse and very religious people of amny faiths. NO ONE FAITH SHOULD DETERMINE WHAT THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS ARE. And Diane, why the need to put all those letters next to your name? I have letters I can put next to mine, too.. would that make me more credible in your eyes? Do you have an inferiority complex? The pedophiliacs and others who were allowed to infiltrate the Church and its ranks was a DIRECT RESULT of the LEFTIST policies of being “oh so inclusive” and “tolerant” of behaviors that directly contradict its teachings.

    • Diane Valencen, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H [Journ.], ArF J., M.F. February 7, 2012 / 8:58 am

Well Leo I’ll tell you. I’ve spent two lifetimes gathering these honors and I, like my Boss, are very proud of what I’ve accomplished just as I am sure that you are proud of your honors. Here in Hell we take these things more seriously than you do there in America. I have no such organ that would generate and inferiority complex.

So what you are trying to tell me is that in the 20s through 60s when children were being raped by priests, forced into slavery in Ireland and other places in Europe this wasn’t because of the conservative nature of the church it was because all those people were Commies? To say that is to say that the Church you are a member of is an organ of the social and political left! If that’s the case why not just leave?

      • Cluster February 7, 2012 / 9:12 am

Diane, are you saying that communists don’t have strong sexual tendencies? And only conservatives possess the abhorrent tendency to rape children.

Honestly, both you and Leo have a ridiculous argument. MAN is the problem, not political leanings. People of all stripes have used the church and His teachings for cover for their agenda, whatever that agenda may be. Obama just used His teachings as a reason to raise taxes, which is equally disgusting.

The further one veers away from “big religion”, the closer one gets to the Truth. An understanding of His teachings, and a personal relationship with Christ is all the armor one needs. Anytime His message is filtered through an “organization”, that message becomes perverted through the natural tendencies of human bias.

  9. Cluster February 7, 2012 / 9:25 am

Off topic, but let’s not forget that Obama blamed the founding fathers and that restrictive constitution as a reason why he hasn’t yet brought about the change he would like. We have our very own Kim Jung II.

Salman Taseer, a popular Pakistani governor, was assassinated this week because he was critical of Pakistan’s blasphemy law.

Specifically, Taseer was supportive of a Christian woman, Asia Bibi, who has been sentenced to death for “insulting Muhammad.”

Bibi had offered some fellow farm laborers some water. They refused to drink it because Christian hands apparently make water unclean. An argument followed. She defended her faith, which they took as synonymous with attacking theirs. Later, she says, a mob of her accusers raped her.

Naturally, a Pakistani judge sentenced her to hang for blasphemy.

add 55 million abortions, to the 100 million communist murders, another 270 million by islam and before long they really add up.

      ——————————————————————————————
Over the centuries since Muhammad the Megalomaniac invented his nasty little religion, his followers have murdered millions in the name of God and continue to add to the tally to the present day.

I find it interesting that the author of this book states that 270 million people have been murdered by Islam. I have always wondered how high the number goes. I have read that as many as 100 million Hindus alone have been murdered by Islam, so the figure is believable. That’s almost the current population of the United States!

If so, then I would agree with the author that Islamic murder constitutes the greatest holocaust in history

That is what is bringing this civilization to a predictable end.

The sheriff then proceeds to tell one G Washington that he must show proof of ownership of the horse and proof that the horse is insured. The sherriff then proceeds to tell one G. Washington that if he cannot provide those proofs his horse will be confiscated.

One G. Washing then proceeds to remove his pistol from his belt and shoots the sherriff dead.
