On the Iran Deal, Obama Gets Tough…

With his fellow Americans, of course – not with the Iranians:

President Obama: I realize that resorting to force may be tempting in the face of the rhetoric and behavior that emanates from parts of Iran. It is offensive. It is incendiary. We do take it seriously. But superpowers should not act impulsively in response to talks… Just because Iranian hardliners chant ‘Death to America” does not mean that that’s what all Iranians believe. In fact, it’s those hardliners that are more satisfied with the status quo. It’s those hardliners chanting “death to America” who’ve been most opposed to the deal. They’re making common cause with the Republican Caucus.

So, there you go – the only people who want to kill the Iran deal are those on the side of the Iranian hardliners! Kerry is also out there warning us against upsetting the Iranian hardliners…and they’ll be mad as wet hens if we don’t do this deal! So mad, I guess, that they’ll start sponsoring terrorism and building up nuclear weapons…

This is getting unreal – the Obama position is that if you don’t want his deal, then you want war. Here’s just a small bit of advice for Obama and Kerry – the alternative to the deal isn’t war, but simply no deal. Status quo. And that means Iran’s government is still hobbled by sanctions and has much fewer resources for sponsoring terrorism and building nuclear weapons.

To me, the whole thing is clearly not about getting Iran to stop being Iran, but about getting sanctions lifted. Obama and Kerry appear to believe that we can befriend Iran’s current government and they’ll work with us for peace and stability in the Middle East…that it will be a peace of the grave for many and the stability of Iranian tyranny doesn’t seem to concern Obama. To Progressives any sort of peace is superior to any sort of war – and if it is a bunch of foreigners living far away who are paying the blood price for our peace, no problem at all.

Of course, we’ll get war, eventually. The thing about helping tyrannical regimes to gain in power and prosperity is that this merely provides them with more sinews for war, as well as convincing them we are a paper tiger which can be defied at will.

So Obama claims the Iranian hardliners oppose the deal yet Kerry says the hardliners will be upset if we don’t do the deal?? Did I read that right? I mean considering how incompetent Obama and Kerry are, that sounds right. The jab Obama gave republicans in the speech is typical Obama. He is the most immature President ever. I am embarrassed for him.

Re: PP and abortion: I found this stat:

According to the most recent Planned Parenthood annual report, the organization saw 2.7 million patients in 2013

There are approximately 39 million women in this country ages 15 and up, and PP served just 2.7 million of them. The progressive Democrats would have us believe that reallocating government funding away from this organization would irreparably harm women’s health in this country and abortions would increase. Well with increased funding for other health care providers such as county health clinics, it’s not hard to realize that those other providers would have no difficulty at all providing services to the less than 10% of the remaining population of women who would seek their care absent PP.

So, IF it is health care that progressives are worried about, they should not have an issue. There are plenty of other providers who are ready to help. However, IF it is late term abortion that progressives are concerned with, well then they will fight tooth and nail to preserve PP. I think we all know that women’s health is secondary to killing young human beings in the Democratic party.

39 million? Its got to be much higher than that in a population of about 155 million women.

Wiki says there are 124 million women 15 and older. Maybe the 39 million is child-bearing age — say 15 -45.

It did seem like a low number to me too and I haven’t been able to verify it yet. However, the higher the population is, the better the argument that PP serves a very small amount of the overall population of women bolstering the argument to reallocate the funding.

It is astonishing how insulting Obama really is – and he doesn’t even have to be. Thanks to the pre-packaged “failure theater” set up by the GOP establishment, Obama’s deal will go thru (unless by some miracle 12 Democrats vote to over-ride Obama’s veto). I don’t think it would work out to a legally binding treaty given the way the GOP establishment set it up, but there’s no way for us to actually stop Obama from implementing the deal. Bottom line, Obama can afford to be generous here – he could just make a few tut-tutting comments about his opponents and move forward…instead, he chooses to insult us. Shows his true character, I guess.

Obame and Kerry are also pushing another straw man argument. Accept the deal or there will be war. That is the only alternative. Let’s see – if true as they say – we would have a war of conventional arms versus a nuclear armed Iran with no possibility of war? This “deal” at its best only delays Iran getting nukes. Kerry and Obame did nothing to stop Iran from getting ICBMs which looks like they will be getting them from the Russians.

Of coursein reality, we have no way of verifying anything despite Kerry’s lies. We have no way of know what is exactly in the deal since Obame (with the most open administration) has kept the details deal secret from the people. We just have to rely on his word as the truth. Fortunately, we all know what a liar the man is. Unfortunately, the establishment GOPers (not conservatives) gave away their treaty ratification powers of the Senate and have no way of stopping this ridiculous “deal”. Obame gave them the ability to finish their nukes. But the drones of the left will blame Bush and any Republican in office. Proof? Crusty blamed Bush for N. Korea getting nukes under his watch, despite Clinton’s poor deal that enabled them to continue their development.

Partial birth abortion should be illegal and your defense of said practice is vile, repugnant, and disgraceful and makes your claim of supporting women completely meaningless. All throughout this thread you have failed to speak to the core issue of the debate, which is partial birth abortion and the harvesting of intact fetal organs. There is a difference between early abortion and late term abortion. This thread has been about late term abortion yet you continue to conflate the two either through willful ignorance, or typical progressive dishonesty. I believe it to the be the latter. And if you care to answer – why do you support the killing of young human beings and the harvesting of their organs?

Secondly, PP serves less than 3 million women, less than 10% of the target population of women 15 yrs old and up. The other 90%+ are very well taken care of by much more reputable providers. So you not only have no cause or case, you have no morals.

Oh and I will mention that if PP altered the abortion procedure in any way to keep organs intact, then that is a federal crime. I believe they have done that. Stay tuned.

Part of an article in Red State this morning, comparing Mitch McConnell to Petain in WW II: While it addresses the Republicans who are squishy on the PP thing, it also relates to all Republicans who lack the character to stand up to Obama and the RRL. It has some interesting history. (emphasis mine)

”…..in Pétain’s personal writings and in his insistence in returning to France to face trial after the war, you can see a stubborn man who, for whatever his faults, believed to the very end that going along with the Nazis was the right thing for France, and for her soldiers in particular – a belief he would carry even after being convicted for treason, exiled, and hated by his countrymen after the war.

It’s easy to think that Mitch McConnell and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) are just evil or weak people, and perhaps there is some truth to that. But I think that ignores the conditions that led them to the place that they have come to the point where collaborating with the Democrats in order to save the government from shutdown over the butchers at Planned Parenthood makes sense. I think quite frankly that they have made the same mistakes that Pétain was guilty of.

The first is that they have underestimated the depravity of their enemy. The Democrats of 2015 are a different breed from the Democrats of 1985 or even 1995, and what they want for the country is radically different and more dangerous. Working with them on reasonable compromises that are good for the country is no longer a viable option, but McConnell apparently doesn’t realize it.

Second, McConnell has come to view the preservation of literally all his troops as more important than any mission he might send them to, and thus he refuses to send them on any mission that involves any danger at all. This kind of shellshock is a fatal flaw in a leader and ensures total and repeated capitulation on every fight that the enemy might possibly force.

I don’t think Mitch McConnell started out his life or his career as a Senator wanting to make deals with Democrats to make sure Planned Parenthood kept getting tax dollars. But his fears have got the better of him and as long as he occupies the position he occupies, the GOP Senate will never fight but only run, and run away faster, and eventually it will actively work with Democrats in a futile attempt to avoid losing seats to them.

They’re the Vichy Republicans now. And until we get rid of them, we can’t organize a fight against the real enemy ourselves.”

I just shake my head in amazement at how far down the rabbit hole this nation has plummeted, to a strange and alien reality in which a sitting president of the United States openly compares Republicans to people who hate America, who shout “death to America” (meaning they want the destruction of the nation).

If rot does start at the head and work its way down, we are seeing the disintegration of decency spreading and taking over the head of this nation, and it is a sad and disgusting spectacle.
