Out and About on a Weekend

The University of California has decided to make non-Progressive speech illegal on campus. Oh, they don’t say it like that – but the bottom line is that no centrist or conservative would ever complain about what someone says, so their new policy of banning words which are “hateful” will only work one way – precious snowflake SJW Progs will use the new rules to hound anyone non-Progressive into silence, or off campus, entirely. This is a taxpayer funded system, by the way…you know, in case anyone in the GOP leadership wants a campaign issue which will have 80% backing among the American people: we can threaten to cut off federal funds unless they cool it, ya see? I won’t hold my breath, of course, waiting for the GOP leadership to pick up on this…

We don’t have proof that the illegal aliens in “sanctuary cities” are causing high crime – but San Francisco, a sanctuary city, sure has seen a boom in violent crime since they became a sanctuary city.

The British Labour Party has decided that the Tories should win the next election in a landslide of epic proportions. Labour voters, by a huge margin, just made ultra-leftist Jeremy Corbyn their party leader. Seriously – this guy makes Tony Blair look like Margaret Thatcher. As far as I can tell, there isn’t a single fashionable Progressive position this guy isn’t enthusiastically in favor of. Think of a far out, way off base Progressive cause – it is almost a certainty he’s a “yes” on it. Prime Minister Cameron could not be reached for comment as he was laughing hysterically.

Dan Rather’s opinion on the new Redford flick about Rather: “fake but accurate”.

The Ruling Class in Europe – like the Ruling Class in the United States – likes mass immigration. The people of Europe, however, aren’t so pleased about the idea.

Lawrence Krauss opines that all scientists should be militant atheists. Since Father Georges Lemaitre, originator of the Big Bang Theory, could not be reached for comment, Kevin Williamson at NRO steps in.

How much longer do we put up with extremists in the Democrat party? And why aren’t we attacking them in the same manner they attack us? Because we actually have hard data to back up their extremism. Case in point – since SF fully became a sanctuary city in 2011 violent crime is up:

Judicial Watch announced today it obtained records from the San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department revealing that violent crime in the Bay area has skyrocketed since 2011, with the number of arrests for murder up 55%, and the number of arrests for rapes up 370%. Judicial Watch uncovered the numbers through a July 9, 2015, California Public Records Act request that sought the number of arrests for violations of the following crimes between 2011 and 2015:

Penal Code 187 – first and second degree murder
Penal Code 240 – simply assault
    Penal Code243 – battery
    Penal Code 261 – rape

Rape arrests up 370%? A record number of women out of the work force? Tell me again how the Democrats are advocates for women’s rights.

That is astounding – correlation is not causation, of course…and as the police don’t record the immigration status of those they arrest…but I’ll bet a complete study will show that inviting in illegal aliens also invited in a lot of hardened criminals.

True—but it’s not just those who are hardened criminals when they get there, it’s the fact that the very existence of a “sanctuary city” means that when people in the protected group do commit crimes, there is no penalty. So the sanctuary cities both attract people who are already criminals, because they create perfect hunting grounds, they also encourage people to become criminals because for the protected groups there is no real law. After all, a law without a penalty is really no law at all.

And remember, these figures are just for ARRESTS, not for reported crimes that do not result in arrests. I wonder what those figures are. Rape is a very under-reported crime, for many reasons, so if there is a cultural stigma to being raped it is less likely that the rape will be reported. In other words, if rapes occur within a culture that makes it unlikely they will be reported at all, and rapes outside that culture are reported but no arrests are made, the number of actual arrests made for rape is not an accurate number of rapes that have occurred, only an indicator of a larger number. I wonder if there are any statistics on that kind of calculation.

VDH nails the entire Obama presidency in one article.

        Well, geesh – where’s the article? I know, I know – we’re not Progs…we can just go look it up ourselves…but, still…

UPDATE: Never mind – see that Amazona linked it. Pardon me while I wipe egg off face…
