Charles Moore gets it:
…The cultural signals from the powerful are almost unthinkingly hostile to majority populations. This month, to take a minor example, a report into ‘diversity’ in the theatre commissioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber reported (reusing a phrase from Greg Dyke years ago) that it is ‘hideously white’. Why should the dominant racial characteristic of all western societies be considered ‘hideous’? If you said that anything was ‘hideously black’ you would (rightly) be shunned by polite society. Such asymmetry inspires revolt…
You keep telling people that their nation is nothing but a racist, sexist, homophobic tyranny and call people who’s grandfathers repose in veterans cemeteries that they are “deplorable” and you’ll eventually just piss people right off. That is what is happening – not just in the United States, but around the world. We’re seeing the rout of the global Ruling Class. They are quite finished – though they still don’t quite know it, and never will.
Kurt Schlichter strikes again – some New Years advice for our Progressive friends:
Be the Sorest of Sore Losers: Or should I say, sore winners, since Hillary obviously crushed Trump in the popular vote election we didn’t have. Keep being angry! Talk nonstop about how Trump is illegitimate – we’ve already totally forgotten that whole thing about how not promising to recognize the validity of the election results is un-American. And oppose everything Trump does – everything! After all, people don’t want change. The last eight years have been terrific for everyone who matters – just ask Obama!
Vegas: always on the cutting edge:
Those tiny bubbles in the wine — you know, the ones that make you happy, make you feel fine — are only a golden token away if you’re in the 23rd-floor Sky Lobby at Mandarin Oriental on the Strip. Those 21 and older can trade $20 for a token at the front desk and use it in the only Moet & Chandon Champagne vending machine in the United States.
Steve Martin put up a nice Tweet to mark the death of Carrie Fisher – the Progressives hated it and bullied him in to deleting it. This is why you got Trump.
DC schools are snubbing Kellyanne Conway’s kids. This is also why you got Trump.
Obama sanctions Russia – in my view to distract from the growing story about how Obama and his Administration deliberately engineered the anti-Israel UN vote. Alternately, they are just playing up the “hacked the election” story as part of the Democrats clever plan to attack Trump. This, by the way, is also why you got Trump.
There’s a woman who is terrified of raising her child in Trump’s America. You know, Progressives, it’s almost like you actually wanted Trump.
Pretty much says it all:
This election cycle, and especially the post-election period has brought out some of the best conservative humor in a long time:
LOL – there have been some good ones of late…Twitter is stuffed full of them.
Some of the most humorless people I know are Liberals, in fact Liberals in general are a humorless bunch, and yet their behavior and their hypocrisy provides some of the best humor around. Kind of ironic isn’t it?
Progressives are a great source of humor if you can refrain from strangling them and let’s make sure that they never live down their comical adolescent idolatry of “the one they had all been waiting for” – here is Ezra Klein back in 2008:
Obama’s finest speeches do not excite. They do not inform. They don’t even really inspire. They elevate. They enmesh you in a grander moment, as if history has stopped flowing passively by, and, just for an instant, contracted around you, made you aware of its presence, and your role in it. He is not the Word made flesh, but the triumph of word over flesh, over color, over despair. The other great leaders I’ve heard guide us towards a better politics, but Obama is, at his best, able to call us back to our highest selves, to the place where America exists as a glittering ideal, and where we, its honored inhabitants, seem capable of achieving it, and thus of sharing in its meaning and transcendence.
Thank God we are not waiting for a Clinton inauguration. Happy New Year’s everyone, be safe.
Enjoy folks:
Cluster, clearly Maxine Waters hadn’t watched MSNBC when she said Democrats have been too nice to Republicans. I realize you like to keep tabs on what the other side is doing and saying, but that’s time you’ll never get back. Life’s too short. What a miserable bunch of ugly, nasty people. But then, on the flip side, it’s going to make it easier to do, with a clear conscience, what needs to be done if they ever really do decide to pick an all-out fight with us.
It’s like watching a train wreck, I can’t stop looking. And the progressives are still in denial, just a minute ago on MSNBC, one of their pundits claimed that Trump’s victory was due to “fake news, the Kremlin super pac, and wait for it …….voter suppression”. And Maxine Waters claiming that democrats have been too nice is comedy gold.
I find the “fake news” angle interesting considering that fake news is all that we have received from this administration over the last 8 years.
So now we, on top of conniving with Putin and having the Complicit Agenda Media shifting sides to promote Trump, also “suppressed”voters? What did we do….have thugs ominously slapping ball bats into their palms as they lounged at the doors of voting places, glaring at anyone who looked as if he or she might vote Dem?
Oh, wait, that wouldn’t qualify as voter suppression or voter intimidation. At least it didn’t when it was black thugs glaring at white voters when Obama was running.
I know it’s funny to talk about the elephant in the room, now that we are talking elephants vs asses, but the big thing they are so frantically scrambling to try to obfuscate with their hysteria is that not one word of the contents of those emails has been challenged or denied. They are desperate to paint over the ugly truths of the whole email episode and all they can try to use is lies. The true underlying message of this election is not that frustration and rage with the establishment is what drove Trump’s success, or any of the other nonsense we keep hearing.
It is that when the Left can no longer hide its true self, it loses.
The Left has won in this country because it has owned the media, and the media have provided cover for them. (Yes, that is “media HAVE”——“media” is a plural. We have the medium of print, the medium of TV, the medium of radio, and when spoken of in the aggregate we have the word “media”, a plural, which has been distorted in our abuse of the language into a word used as a singular noun. Which is why we have the fingernails-on-a-blackboard phenomenon of “the media IS ….”)
But I digress. The media have provided cover for the Left, hiding its warts and spreading its lies, so the ugly truths have had a hard time breaking out. It took Hillary Clinton, someone who in a sane and rational nation with an objective press might even have kept her husband out of the White House, with her incredible range of stupidity, venality, arrogance, viciousness, truly astounding dishonesty and conviction that the media could always find a way to protect her to shatter the illusions so carefully built up over the years. It took the sheer volume of her awfulness to crack the shell the media and the sycophants and the propagandists had carefully built up over the years.
And now the lunatics in the asylum, who have been entertaining each other for years with their lurid fantasies, conspiracy theories, paranoia and general insanity, are taking their show on the road, and letting us see what has driven them all these years.
Sadly, the Right will probably not be able to parlay this gift into a lasting portrait of the Left, which will probably be able to recover some of its media control and start to plaster over the damage. It’s going to be a tough row to hoe, though, because the success of the Left in creating mindless puppets means that there are millions and millions of them, each one more bizarre and ridiculous than the last. It was fine when Pajama Boy’s audience was Julia and the college snowflakes who literally sob and tremble in terror at the idea of Ben Shapiro speaking on the other side of the campus. But now PB and Julia and the snowflakes are out in the open, where they are being seen, and laughed at, by the rest of the country. It was one thing when Maxine and Barbara, et al, were huddled in their little bubbles muttering to each other, but out in the light of day, where their paranoid delusions are seen for what they are, they are just objects of ridicule. Not by all, but by more and more all the time.
My wife and I went to a late afternoon showing of Sully followed up by dinner at a local restaurant famous for its Prime Rib. We were supposed to meet another couple that we’ve spent every New Years Eve with for the last 30+ years, but the wife came down with the flu, so we went by ourselves only to run into my college roommate and his wife (also going to see Sully) who we hadn’t seen in close to a decade, and ended up going to dinner with them afterward. All in all, a great way to end a rather contentious year.
Since I probably won’t stay awake to see the ball drop, Happy New Year everyone. Let’s hope and pray that it’s a good one.
We did our usual – dinner with a couple friends we do NYE dinner with. Think we’re up to Year 14 on it, so far…
There are times when I wonder; “How the heck did O get elected in the first place?” And even more astounding is that he got elected to a 2nd term after a most horrific first term. On top of that, there are / were numerous other political / judicial figures who should be in jail cells, not political office or sitting on the bench. We shake our heads in disbelief at the ways the powerfully connected are gnawing at and destroying the core of what once made us a great and proud nation.
Then I see the pendulum swing the other way and realize something that continues to repeat itself. God allows bad things to happen, in part so we can see the destructive actions of evil in real time, and as a mechanism to bring people back to Him. Significant evils of the distant past have little bearing on mindset of today’s masses, even when there are ever present forces, both internal and external ready to rip our notion of reality into oblivion. There’s a massive disconnect of the true cost of freedom. History seems more like a fictitious story book than a true account of man’s capacity for both immense evil as well as vast expressions of courage / love / sacrifice.
I also see a strange irony where most individuals seem rather insignificant in their ability to have a positive impact on the big picture; while at the same time can have a momentous affect on individual lives that can ripple and grow, often without even knowing it.
I pray by the grace of God, that going forward, all evil is exposed and that we have the diligence, courage and fortitude to address it appropriately. I have no delusion about the many battles that lay ahead, most of which will have to be dealt with by our future generations.
I kindly thank those who post on this web site (as well as others like it) for their time, thoughtfulness and efforts in exposing those evils and with providing meaningful input in ways to deal with it. Anyone who suggest “You can’t handle the truth”, are completely blind to the infinite destruction of the lie.
