So, I sit down to dinner on Wednesday night and just as a I start eating, I feel a pain in my stomach. Couldn’t be the food, I was literally on my first bite when I started to feel it. After a couple hours, the pain becomes agonizing, but not constant. It is a series of very painful spasms in my abdomen. Naturally, being a guy, I pretend it isn’t a problem. But, all night long I’m unable to sleep because the spasms keep coming. By morning, I’m exhausted. The spasms have lessened in intensity, but now I feel nausea and I’m chilled to the bone, even on a warm Nevada day. But as the pain is less, I still pretend its nothing. I took a couple Tylenol before bed on Thursday night and I slept pretty well, but still woke up tired. Hardly any pain left but still just generally weak. At last, I start thinking that something might be up and perhaps it is related to that nasty red spot on my arm which is now itching like the Dickens. A quick look at photos and various bug bite descriptions and I narrow it down to either a black widow or hobo spider. As it turns out, I should have seen a doctor right away. I’ll keep an eye on it – but the swelling in the bite area does seem to be going down.

I’ve had a number of spider bites, although none that made me as sick as you. My wife and I live in a pretty dense woods, and spiders (and spider bites) were just an unavoidable part of life until a friend told us about a pest control company called The Swat Team. They come out around the end of April or early May and spray around the foundation and under the eaves. The biggest thing I noticed, other than no more spider bites, is not having to power wash all the spider sh*t off the siding every year. It’s also gotten rid of wasps, lady bugs and ants. I understand spiders play an important roll in nature, just no longer in and around my house.
I’ve seen Congressman Swalwell interviewed several times. The guy obviously didn’t make it to the end of the assembly line, and some key parts were left off. But I fear the kind of people who would vote for someone like him even more. In 2016 73% (178,000) of the people in his district saw fit to elect him to a fourth term.

I think I am going to run for President too. Evidently anyone can do it. Swalwell is just taking advantage of his position as lead hysteric in the RUSSIA probe which gets him lots of air time on CNN and MSNBC. If he doesn’t take advantage of that now, he will fade back into oblivion. Swalwell has little experience, no common sense, and is a completely unremarkable guy so it’s either now or never. The big problem for him is that he is a white male, and as everyone is learning, that’s the wrong gender and color to properly lead the new Democrats. They’re looking for someone darker and more authoritarian. If Maya Angelou and Josef Stalin had a transgendered child who illegally immigrated to this country then that candidate just might check all the identity boxes for Democrats.

And just a big FYI to black people … the Democrats don’t think very highly of you. They don’t think you’re capable of getting a photo ID, they think your all cab drivers, or dish washers. they think $15 an hour will be beneficial to you, they don’t think you’re capable of deciding on what healthcare insurance to have, etc., etc. As a result they let your schools and communities fall into complete disrepair and then blame others because they don’t think you will notice.

Victimhood and entitlementariansim are so ingrained into the black community, I don’t expect them to change allegiance overnight, but no president in my lifetime has had a more positive effect on the economic prospects for blacks than Trump. This next election should be a bellwether on how blacks vote. If Trump gets even 10-15% of the black vote, the Dems have got a serious problem.
Irony alert – MSNBC’ers are concerned about the president’s “security” and claiming Trump is too weak on security following the Chinese national who intruded on Mar a lago. They are worried that “too many people” and the “wrong kind of people” are having access to the President.
They share no similar concern about the country however.

Not difficult at all but evidently it alludes them, so to expect them to know the difference between socialism and capitalism is just a bridge too far. I am sitting in a hotel room in Berlin, listening to nonstop drums along the route of a marathon. I don’t attend things like this so I don’t know if this is unusual, but here it is quite a party, with the drum line and cheerleaders along the route. When I say I am interested in politics, I mean I am interested in POLITICS, not just domestic squabbling, and will be spending a week listening to retired spies and CIA operatives talk about Berlin in the Cold War. My hotel is in old East Berlin, and part of my class will be going to the remnant of the Wall and the Stasi Museum.
My taxi driver loves the United States, is thrilled by Trump, and loved that I care about Berlin’s history and pointed out points of interest on the route. He said there is a lot of love here for America. It is my first visit to Germany and my first time going to a country where I speak absolutely none of the language, so it is an adventure, followed by a trip to Normandy to scatter some of my husband’s ashes tp honor his passion for military history.
On the plane I sat next to a couple from Colorado who are absolutely dismayed and disgusted by what has happened to the state since the legislature has been taken over by the Dems. Literally everyone I have talked to about the new laws is outraged and fed up. I tell them I am reminded of the words of the Japanese officer who, after they attacked us at Pear Harbor, said he feared they had awakened a sleeping giant, and I have a feeling the Colorado Dems are going to be thinking the same thing. Petitions are already out to force the controversial bills to go to the citizens for vote, instead of letting a few Dems ram them down our throats. NONE of the legislators ran on promise to do what they are doing. They ran on character assassination of their opponents, in stealth campaigns to get into power so they can go crazy with truly radical and extreme laws that few if any like or support.
I wish I could read German, as I would love to know what is in the newspapers, but as I will be spending the next five days with people who are interested in history which is as political as the division of Berlin I might get some insight from others as well about how Trump and the US are seen abroad.

I suppose the Stasi Museum is kind of “lame” if you are looking for glitz and glitter or obvious in-your-face impact. I thought its ordinariness highlighted the horror it represented. It showed ordinary offices with ordinary furniture, where ordinary-seeming people went to work every day like any other bureaucrats and in very undramatic ways worked out how to impose tyranny, fear and misery on other people.
The most horrible things were hidden beneath ordinary-sounding words. There were letters written by people offering, or so it seemed, to spy on and report on their friends, family members, neighbors or people at work, all cloaked in the most innocent-sounding civic-duty voluntary requests—hiding the threats and coercions used to force them to betray people to a voraciously powerful State. It was the veneer of banality that was so chilling. It was the description of one person’s fate as “disciplinary custody”. It was the meeting room with the big boardroom table surrounded by chairs that could have been in any insurance company office, where men sat and calmly decided the fates, the lives and deaths of others.
And it was the timing. This all happened within the last fifty to seventy five years. It was going on while I was dating the man who would become my husband. It is not ancient history. Worse, it is being ignored by people all over the world, especially in our little world of North America, where new boardrooms are being designed where new panels will sit in ordinary chairs to decide the fates of people who have offended the State, by committing Thought Crimes like using the words :he” and “him” to refer to a person with a Y chromosome and male genitals. From the power of the State to chastise and fine it is not far to the State imposing “disciplinary custody” in the name of totalitarian ideology.
We had a bus tour with a guide who grew up In East Berlin, who talked about what it was like to have to monitor every single word, every thought for fear a wrong word or idea might slip out. When she talked about the day the Wall fell, she choked up. She said that aside from her wedding day and the birth of her daughters it was the most thrilling and momentous and important day of her life. This is not the first person I have met who lived under Leftist control and escaped, in one way or another.
I simply do not, can not, understand how anyone who has visited Berlin and seen things like the Stasi Museum and the visible artifacts of oppression and tyranny can come back to the United States and support and enable a Leftist political model. It does not compute. The only thing I can think of to explain it, other than a natural affinity for tyranny and the evils that accompany it, is a willful self-deception that ignores the basic ideological structure of Leftism and just allows itself to be controlled by emotion-based Identity Politics.
You saw a video of men calmly discussing the most efficient ways to destroy, by various means of murder, millions of people because they did not fit into the concept of acceptability defined by the State, yet I have not seen anything from you objecting to the Democrat Party tolerating a member of Congress who advocates for a return to that agenda. I have to wonder how you feel about an entire political party which stands a chance of taking the presidency as well as full control of Congress refusing to take a stand against this kind of thinking. It scared me before I saw a city nearly destroyed in the conflict that was necessary to fight that kind of thinking, and it terrifies me even more today. I’m sitting here tonight in a city held hostage to a sister political ideology that flourished for decades after that conflict, and have been surrounded by the evidence of that tyranny that existed and oppressed even after the Nazi threat was laid to rest, because under the skin and labels the tyranny of the 40s and the one that persisted until November of 1989 were one and the same—the political structure of a massively powerful Central Authority with little or no liberty left to the people, imposing not just a governmental structure but a demand for total submission to the Stater.
I heard of that video and may be able to see it on You Tube as well. I want to see the Impressionist paintings at the modern art museum, and some other things. The lectures have been fascinating, by a noted author and expert and a man who ran a spy network and met and got to know nearly every Russian name that ever pops up when talking about Russian spies and the KGB.
