Secret Open Thread

Did I really wait that long to sign in again? Sorry: been real busy with the book! Secrets I plan to release on September 1st. Battles, the third book of the series (which wraps up this particular story line) I hope to have out by December 1st.

Cool cover, huh? It is not absolutely necessary for anyone to buy Mirrors to understand the story in Secrets…but, it’s helpful. So, if you haven’t got Mirrors, go get it. Serious. Secrets is awesome sauce with a cherry on top. With whipped cream. And some of that chocolate stuff you can pour over. And a really good beer afterwards. And then you get to relax by the pool.

It’s really good.

The stupid is getting worse:

In Michigan, Greg and Kjersten Offbecker have removed the Norwegian flag flying outside of their bed and breakfast, the Nordic Pineapple. The couple purchased the historic mansion two years ago and converted it to a bed and breakfast. They’ve flown the Norwegian flag along with the American flag out front.

Unfortunately, (and because our public education system is mostly hot, stinky garbage), the Offbecker’s have removed the Norwegian flag as far too many people have confused it with the Confederate Battle Flag…

Unsolicited Chinese seeds are showing up in people’s mail boxes. I would burn any such that arrived.

It sorta looks like Kamala will be Joe’s VP pick – though some are still fighting against it. I don’t think anyone on Team Biden really wants here – or anyone who rises above complete non-entity. Everyone expects Biden to kick the bucket long before 2024…and probably most of Joe’s closest aides figure it is baked in, as well. But they’ll want to hold on to power as long as possible, and that means picking a VP that no one wants…so that until Biden’s carcass is carried out of the Oval Office, no moves will be made to replace him.

Don Surber takes note of a video clip I saw: a nurse hand-holding Joe out to the car. And then pulling him away from reporters before he could talk about Corn Pop, again. The man isn’t well.

Trump is doomed! But while he’s doomed, the GOP is far outpacing the Democrats in registering new voters in Pennsylvania. Kinda funny, huh? Do keep in mind that it was voter registration shifts in PA which first clued me in that Trump could win in 2016. It is certainly better to follow such things than polls…but I also noted on Twitter that Nate Silver is already hedging his bets for November 3rd.

Figured you were working on your book. Congrats – again.

I think I asked you a while back if Mirrors was available for my Nook, and it was not. My Nook died last winter, and I got a Kindle for Christmas. I checked on Amazon to see if Secrets is available for pre-order for my Kindle. It’s not, but Mirrors is available, and I bought it. You’re now $3.99 richer — don’t spend it all in one place.

If Kamala Harris ends up being Biden’s VP pick, she should pose a stark contrast with Pence.

Thanks, Spook! I hope you enjoy: I think the story a lot of fun. “Secrets”, in my view, is better: a lot better. First off, more experience for the Author! But I also felt the story was just more fun and flowed better…its why its 110,000 words!

Anyone else heard the breaking news that U.S. GDP fell nearly 33% in the 2nd quarter? MarketWatch clarifies it as an annual rate, seasonaly adjusted, but most news reports are just saying the economy plunged by a third. I’m getting so tired of the constant dishonesty of the media.

    • dbschmidt July 30, 2020 / 7:02 pm

I have taken all “news” accounts with a grain of salt until I could verify accurateness of the article–that is both sides of the aisle with the left requiring a much larger grain size; nevertheless, I find it a new low for a former President to take pot shots at President Trump at the funeral service for Democratic Georgia Rep. John Lewis.

By all rights he was a great man and a major player in the advancement of equal rights. Did not agree with many of his postilions on other matters but was that poor behavior called for? Of course I could never understand why he was a Democrat either after how they screwed the blacks since the dawn of times.

Rep. John Lewis & Mr. Herman Cain — RIP

      • Cluster July 31, 2020 / 8:25 am

Re: the “new low” – take a look back at Democrat Paul Wellstone’s funeral service … I think back from 2002. This is the norm for Democrats

      • Amazona July 31, 2020 / 8:59 am

I couldn’t remember Wellstone’s name but I do remember the shameful political grandstanding and use of his funeral to engage in attacks on the opposition.

If it weren’t for low class, the Dems wouldn’t have any class at all.

  4. dbschmidt July 30, 2020 / 7:18 pm

What really gets me now is how the manipulate the meaning of words. Mail in vote. Even Pres. Trump says absentee ballet is okay but these mass “every voter” mailings have proven rife with fraud. Nevertheless, the “news” conflates the two. “Peaceful protests” and any number of other things. Now it is Trump tweeted something about moving the election with three or four question marks as in asking a question. But the “news” takes it as a statement. The examples of poor reporting can go on forever.

Okay, Mark, not my style of reading but the technical manuals are getting a little dull so as as soon as I figure out my Tab–I will check for Mirrors. Just saying that is almost ten dollars–don’t go and get a Lamborghin like a Florida guy on PPP.

    • Amazona July 31, 2020 / 9:11 am

db, this semantic manipulation is an essential part of the Left. They are slippery, and slide in these distortions so skillfully most don’t even realize they are editorial and even conservatives repeat them.

Example: When George Floyd was killed, was that a “police action” or an illegal act committed by a police officer? Because there is a difference. After all, if a uniformed officer robs a bank, that is not a “police action” even if he was on duty at the time. I think it was obvious that Chauvin had a personal attitude toward Floyd that led to his unnecessary extended restraint. But he did not do that as an extension of a policy of his department.

And there is no indication Floyd was killed because he was black. Being killed if you are black is kind of like dying and then being found positive for COVID 19—–at that point the official “cause of death” is the one most politically advantageous. “Dead AND black” instantly becomes “Dead BECAUSE he was black” just as “Died WITH Covid” becomes “Died OF Covid.”.

I’ve been sensitive to Semantic Manipulation for a very long time now, as well as Semantic Infiltration (which is when everyone starts to use the manipulated phrase).

Where in the hell is the GOP?? The Democrats take every opportunity to be political including funerals, and the GOP can’t even stand up to the podium and defend AG Barr from being accused of being a murderer?? These F***G are people are worthless. They don’t even step up and detail the grift and corruption in the House new stimulus plan while at the same time not being able to offer an alternative plan. And while we rush to mail in voting, which is the biggest scam on earth, the GOP again has nothing to say:

Four men admit to paying homeless people in LA’s Skid Row cash and cigarettes in exchange for forged signatures on ballots and voter registration forms

Ronna McDaniel, where the hell are you??? If this country is to remain a free market Constitutional country, independent patriots are going to have to step up and say enough and get to the polls. Obviously the GOP is caught in their swampy lobbyists headlights … meaning we need to vote much of the current GOP out too.

  6. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 8:22 am

And again allow me to be the contrarian …. I am not sure why we are celebrating a career politician. John Lewis was a divisive career politician who arguably left his district in worse shape then when he arrived to represent them 33 years ago. There’s no argument that the country is in worse shape today then when he got there in 1987, so again, what’s to celebrate? Did John ever step up and say “for the sake of unity let’s give President Trump a chance” – hell no. In fact John Lewis called Trump a racist every chance he got. Aside from being with MLK, which to me was nothing more than opportunistic move by Mr. Lewis, he occupied a government seat for 33 years excluding everyone else in his district from having that opportunity themselves. So I see nothing to celebrate here, I’m just happy that everyone else in his district now has a chance to represent their district after he excluded them for 33 years. RIP John

    • Amazona July 31, 2020 / 9:02 am

I know. Even Sean Hannity, after saying he didn’t agree with Lewis on anything, said he “admired” him. For what? Just what did you “admire” about him, Sean?

Like you, I thought that his civil rights activities were the only thing that spoke well of him. Otherwise I thought he was a nasty person and, as you said, very divisive.

But the rule is, decent people tend to sanctify the dead, while the Dems use the dead as props for political attacks.

      • Cluster July 31, 2020 / 9:34 am

Hard to admire a “career” politician who took every opportunity to sit in judgement of his opponents intent and character while living on the taxpayer dime for most of his life. No thanks, good riddance John

  7. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 8:29 am

Has anyone noticed that the “news” on former police officer Derek Chauvin is non existent?? The most vilified policeman in this country, the one responsible for murdering Saint George Floyd and there’s no news?? What about his preliminary trial?? Where’s the discovery? When does the trial begin??

I have a feeling that Derek is living his life out on one of George Soros’s islands. He served his purpose and now is to be rewarded.

    • Retired Spook July 31, 2020 / 9:58 am

Derek Chauvin might be hiding in the same location as George Floyd’s autopsy, which I’m guessing shows something that not consistent with the narrative the news has painted.

I only have one vivid recollection of John Lewis, and that’s when Republicans and Democrats were arguing on the amount of increase in the school lunch program back in the mid-90’s (not whether to cut it but how much to increase it). Lewis stood up on the House floor and shouted, “the Republicans are coming for your children!” Like the rest of you, I’m hard-pressed to remember anything he did that was good — even for his black constituents.

  8. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 12:20 pm

More proof that Democrats are human scum:

According to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, the White House has offered Democrats on Capitol Hill four different plans to get hurting Americans the help that they need. All four have been rejected and counter-offers have not been submitted.

And Obama truly revealed himself to be a divider and nothing more than a piece of human debris yesterday at the funeral for well known racist John Lewis. Obama had 8 years of being President with an adoring fan base and media and he accomplished NOTHING …. but that hasn’t stopped him from still blaming others. The world is better off without people like Obama … who changed his name from Barry Soetoro … I guess wanting to be more “ethnic”. What a loser

  9. jdge1 July 31, 2020 / 12:30 pm

Seems a few days ago I heard that Kamala Harris was to be Biden’s VP pick, but that consideration was being met with resistance from several significant financial donors. This morning I heard the name Karen Bass being on the short list and a favorite of former senator Chris Dodd who serves on Biden’s search committee. I’ve never heard of her before this but her resume sure looks extremely hard left. While this could pander to the leftist base, I imagine it will work against Biden on many other fronts.

    • Cluster July 31, 2020 / 1:05 pm

Karen Bass is a straight up racist and communist. Incidentally I want to remind everyone that while most Americans are unable to have funerals for their loved ones, the Democrats hosted a very well attended political funeral to a well known racist. And now you know why I say they need to be eliminated

  10. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 1:21 pm

Has everyone seen the recent attempts to blame the riots on white supremacists? Even binary boy tried that last week. I guess Americans aren’t thrilled with Joe Biden voters killing innocent Americans and destroying property.

Joe Biden voters have declared war on the United States. Let’s grant them their wish

  11. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 3:09 pm

More drivel and dishonesty from someone so delusional they think they bested Amazona. There is no end to the brain damage on the left but let’s just presume it is white supremacists causing the chaos … then remind America that the Democrat refuse to allow the federal government to stop white supremacists from destroying this country and hijacking the BLM movement.

I wonder why Democrats refuse to stop white supremacists from destroying their cities and hijacking the peaceful BLM movement (similar to a bowel movement), that’s just weird and something I think the media would be all over. Democrat Mayors need to answer that question and their silence only serves to kill more black people. What is wrong with Democrats?

Trump plays binary boy like a violin, and binary boy dances at every tune. It’s fun to watch

  13. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 3:14 pm

Seems a little desperate to now blame white supremacists after 4 months of looting and killing, but hey never underestimate a Democrats dishonesty. They are evil and should not be breathing. Equally strange is that the black umbrella is now part of Antifa’s uniform. But it’s all white supremacy … got it

I have a mask made that says, “I don’t want criminals to breathe”. Oh and just bought a Washington Redskins shirt. Go Hogs!!!

  14. Cluster July 31, 2020 / 4:10 pm

A Democrat now thinks the police are honest. Will wonders ever cease? And why Democrats allow white supremacists to disrupt peaceful BLM protestors, I will never know.

Who doesn’t want to live in a thriving Democrat controlled metropolis? Busy nightlife, bustling economic activity, and wonderful caring people governing the city. Aside from the homeless and the human feces on the streets, there is a little trash problem but nothing that Universal Basic income couldn’t resolve. Democrats are always ready with that next great government program.

Last month, New York City slashed $106 million to the sanitation department’s budget to get costs under control. Although curbside garbage and recycling collections haven’t been reduced, pickups for corner litter baskets have been reduced by 60%. As a result, trash bags have been seen piling up in city corners and litter is often overflowing out of the baskets. The excessive trash has also attracted rats, which carry disease and have been terrorizing outdoor diners, and racoons that have been climbing into trash cans. Heaps of trash is pictured overflowing on sidewalks and out of garbage cans in Brooklyn’s Gravesend and Flatbush neighborhoods, as well as in Manhattan’s Chelsea and Soho areas.

I think of all the headlines over the years that shocked and jarred people, for example September 11, 2001; or how about December 7, 1941? Well this headline today should scare everyone in this country:

“On Jan. 20, 2021 if there has not been a new president elected, at that point, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, becomes president,” Laurence Tribe says.

I can’t think of a more botoxed, brain dead, vile, and incompetent person in this country other than Pelosi and with her at the helm, American will surely become a human feces littered sewer just like her district in SF. If this doesn’t get people to polls, nothing will

My granddaughter just got her real estate license earlier this year. Couldn’t have done it at a better time. Combination of record low interest rates and people moving into red states like Indiana, as you say — in droves, have lit a fire under the housing market. Only problem is low inventory. Every house she’s sold has resulted in a bidding war.

Check this out from Joey Scarborough on the funeral for racist John Lewis:

So if anybody decides that they’re going to attack Barack Obama or anybody else for speaking the way they did at John Lewis’ funeral, they knew what were, what was going to happen. And if somehow it’s sleazy to talk about the right of black and white, hispanic, Asian-American voters to get out and profess their Democratic choice on Election Day, if that’s sleazy, then you have a different view of American than John Lewis and the overwhelming majority of Americans have.

And not wanting to be left out, Willie Geist chimed in with his virtue signal:

“Take politics out of it, if you weren’t moved by what you saw yesterday in that church, there might be something wrong with you.”

Got that?? There is something wrong with us if we don’t “feel” the way Democrats do. Democrats really are unifying and loving people, aren’t they??

    • Amazona August 1, 2020 / 12:45 pm

Leave it to a Lefty to get it wrong. It is not “sleazy” to talk about the rights of people. It IS sleazy to climb up on the coffin of someone to do so. And it is beyond sleazy to lie from that vantage point.

We keep hearing that these polls are putting Biden ahead of Trump Those on the Right say “Who in hell would vote for JOE BIDEN? Literally the only reason to vote for a decrepit, corrupt, incompetent creepy serial loser who now has trouble remember who he is and where he is is because he is not Donald Trump”. And the Left is saying, hoping we are not paying attention, “We know Joe doesn’t really have a chance,in spite of all the hate and chaos we have been creating, so we have to do a LOT of preemptive attacking of the election process itself so the riots will continue and escalate when he loses and so we can claim the election is not valid. One way to do that is to start laying the groundwork for VOTER SUPPRESSION. We won’t be able to claim VOTER FRAUD (though we will anyway) because through mail in voting in Dem states we own that, but we can convince a few people that somehow, out there, are millions of people who would have voted for Joe, who yearned to vote for Joe, who were denied that right.”

So they get political whore Barack Obama to climb up on Lewis’s coffin and lie. Not that it took a lot of effort. Every single thing Obama has ever done has been with the goal of dividing this nation till it collapses. so the Left can take over.

  19. Amazona August 1, 2020 / 12:50 pm

Sometimes the irony is just so blatant:

“There were white supremacists marching under the banner of Black Lives Matter, attempting to undermine an otherwise overwhelmingly peaceful movement towards social justice,” Mayor Levar Stoney said Sunday at a news conference.

Remember when the Left howled in derision when TEA Party members complained that white supremacists were slipping into their rallies to hold up signs for cameras? Now that shoe is on the other foot.

And it’s funny to watch the Marxists fretting about it.

    • Retired Spook August 1, 2020 / 12:59 pm

And the Tea Party rallies weren’t just “overwhelmingly peaceful,” they were virtually 100% peaceful — plus we cleaned up after ourselves when we were done.

  20. Cluster August 1, 2020 / 1:08 pm

Every single thing Obama has ever done has been with the goal of dividing this nation till it collapses. so the Left can take over.

That’s 100% correct. The “fundamental transformation” of this country, promised by Obama in 2009 is still underway. Obama is the worst and the most destructive President ever. There’s not even a close second.

  21. Amazona August 1, 2020 / 1:31 pm

In the meantime, the effort to paralyze the nation with pandemic porn is starting to show wear.

    (1) Lies about both the number of cases resulting in serious illness and death are being uncovered. and speculation is growing about why this has been going on. That speculation will only hurt the Left. because it seems to always lead to the conviction they are the ones lying, to try to hurt Trump.

Few Americans know that a local CBS affiliate examined 589 alleged Palm Beach, Florida fatalities and discovered that far less than a third (169) had actually died of the virus.

Most are unaware that the COVID-19 death tally they’ve been terrorized with for months has included motorcycle fatalities and gunshot victims.

    (2) Lies about the methods of treatment of the virus and its side effects are also being debunked. and the freak-out overreaction of the Establishment to this is quite telling. Yesterday Sebastian Gorka interviewed, at length, one of the doctors who did the Front Line Doctors Summit, and his commentary was fascinating. He talked about the success in using Hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19, but more the point he talked about (A) its safety, and (B) its efficacy as prophylactic. He quoted a woman from an African nation where malaria is rampant, who said “we take it every Sunday”. That struck me as an odd comment until the doctor explained that all through Africa and many other countries HCQ is available over the counter and is routine taken to avoid becoming ill from malaria.

I thought that was interesting as a statement about the drug’s safety, but then the doctor talked about the extremely low prevalence of COVID-19 in populations where prophylactic use of HCQ is common, and that really got my attention.

He also said that most doctors don’t even do heart testing before prescribing HCQ and heart issues are so rare they are not a real concern.

    OK, that is all interesting

But what has my attention now the frantic, shrill and hysterical stampede by the Establishment to deride these doctors, to ridicule them, to do everything possible to shut them up and, failing that, to discredit them. USA Today bases most of its sneers on the fact that these doctors are not RESEARCHERS but just regular doctors basing their opinions on observations. Again, we see the snap-back to the dependence on the Elites, with the “right” Ivy League credentials, ignoring the evidence of people actually doing the work.

The doctors had a press conference on the steps of the Supreme Court building, and this video has been scrubbed from most online sites.

Under the headline America’s Frontline Doctors Summit COVID-19 Video Called ‘False Information’ is this:

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have removed videos of the press conference due to “misinformation” related to COVID-19. At the time of publishing, the Tea Party Patriots’ links to the press conference on YouTube and Facebook were still available, but they have since been removed. The video is still available here on BitChute.

The response has been instantaneous, harsh and hateful.

Now it seems to me that if these doctors have found some information that is valuable, even if only in some circumstances, honest people with the welfare of the population at heart would be happy to learn it and fold it into the general body of knowledge about how to deal with the virus. The rage and hostility these doctors are experiencing, and the massive efforts to discredit them, tell me a lot about the underlying political need to keep this virus so threatening to Americans that we have to keep hiding from it and destroying our economy and living in fear..

In other words, to continue being sacrificed to the political agenda of the Left.

    • Amazona August 1, 2020 / 2:23 pm

A couple of the comments on the YouTube video—which I strongly recommend. Just play it in the background while you are doing something else, if you have to.

It just occurred to me that current medicine and politics is emulating Chinese Communist Party censorship. They are getting shut down for dissenting views being accused of “spreading rumors” and “false information”. Sounds like the CCP to me.

Most people are not afraid of the virus. They are afraid of the lack of treatment they will get, that may kill them or put them in the hospital

    • Amazona August 1, 2020 / 2:52 pm

I’ve got that video on in the background and think that Dr. Erickson, who comes on at 1:19, is the doctor interviewed by Sebastian Gorka yesterday. I highly recommend at the very least going to this segment.

He points out that the hysteria about the number of “cases” reported is really only the number of positive tests, NOT the number of people who are sick. He says that 99.8 % of those who test positive have little or no progression of the disease.

      Listen to this man.

      • Cluster August 1, 2020 / 5:53 pm

This virus is a scam of epic proportions and eerily demonstrated how easy the population is to control.

      • Retired Spook August 1, 2020 / 6:08 pm

If we ever learn the truth of COVID-19 as it pertains to the U.S., I suspect we’re going to find that (1) the number of cases and the number of deaths attributed to the virus were grossly overstated; (2) the reason for this was mostly political or incompetence or a combination of the two; and (3) many of the deaths that WERE from the virus were completely preventable. Look at Taiwan by comparison: it is the 17th most densely populated country on the planet with a population of 23.6 million, less than 500 cases of COVID-19 and 7 deaths. What did they do or are doing that we didn’t?

I think this sentiment is shared by millions of American sports fans, including me:

For 65 years, I was a major league fan of major league baseball. But as of last week, that all changed, and I will never again follow the sport. MLB’s woke owners drove me away.

I am boycotting the NFL, MLB and certainly the NBA but think I may start watching the NHL. Let’s show these pampered millionaires that we can find a lot of other things to do rather then to sit around and watch them … and much more productive things to do as well. I will miss football this Fall, but I would miss my country more, so goodbye NFL

    • Amazona August 1, 2020 / 2:14 pm

I had one Bronco game on TV since the kneeling antics of the team, and that was when my brother was visiting and wanted to watch the game. I used to love going to the Rockies games—no more. I have never been a basketball fan but hope those who do love the game will be turned off by the overt support by most players for Marxism.

When I was a kid, there was a joke kids thought was funny: Little Johnny is walking along and sees Billy peering at the sidewalk. He asks why, and Billy says he dropped a quarter, so Johnny says he will help look for it. After a while, Johnny says “Are you sure you dropped it here?” and Billy says no,he dropped it farther up the street. “Then why are you looking for it here?”

“Because the light is better here” responds Billy.

This is how I see the athletes and fellow virtue signalers, The question can be rephrased from “Why are you looking here?” to “Why are you disrespecting the anthem and the flag when your complaints don’t have anything to do with national policy?” But the answer would be the same: “Because the light is better here.” In this case, “light” means “cameras”.

So if the problem is lack of fathers in the homes, so young men grow up with no respect for authority and exhibit this in their relations with police, leading to their deaths as they violently resist arrest, a truly concerned black athlete would be there in the heart of the community, relating to the boys, using his influence to balance the lack of fathers, But there are no cameras there. There is no publicity there. And it would mean sacrificing time and energy that could be spent jet skiing and partying and enjoying the fruits of fame and wealth.

This is, in general, why I have such contempt for these people. They are phonies, they are hypocrites, they are shallow and superficial publicity whores. If there is any value in their complains, it is lost in the muck of their posturing for the cameras.

Add to this they are expressing support for a political system based on undermining and destroying the very framework of the United States and replacing it with tyranny.

Why is my Government spending so much time & effort to lie to me? Better yet, why do the people tolerate it? Best guess is a quote from “Men in Black”: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

My latest peeve is one I have had for a while and no matter how much digging can I find an honest answer. There is a world of difference between “hospitalized for and hospitalized with”. Same with died from (primary cause) and died with (secondary cause).

Every time I find information that shows with “Science & Data” that this (COVID-1984) is a nasty, highly contagious bug–it is no more deadly than a serious flu–it gets scrubbed and the talking heads blame me for everything. Even I realize and have from the start that most of the data is basically GIGO.

I never have and will never trust “Government” and believe it should be reduced by about 90% with the remaining 10% chained to protect the “People”; nevertheless, there are good people trying to do the right thing in Government but just like the teachers “refusing” to return to the classroom–time to pull a Reagan and fire all of them. Then pick and choose who get rehired after dismantling the public teachers union. After all, I am sure not one of them teachers has left their Cuomo basement for food or water since the “Stay at Home” order has started.
