Of course they spied on Trump. We all knew that pretty much from the get-go, but it is nice to get some additional confirmation on it. The real problem isn’t the spying but that nobody will really pay the price for it. They’ll protect each other. In fact, I suspect that this particular release was allowed because some Democrats want to put a veto on Clinton’s revived interest in Presidential politics: there are plenty of signs and rumors that she’s at least thinking about a 2024 run. Most Democrats don’t really want that – certainly Team Pudding Brain and Team Harris don’t want it.
Our only way out of this is to dismantle the National Security State. As I’ve said before, it has to go. Really, having things like an FBI and CIA are incompatible with a Republic. We can, perhaps, endure a very small group of intelligence operators who focus entirely on external threats and ferret out spies in the US, but I mean small. Like not more than a couple hundred in total, with US Special Forces troops providing on the ground muscle at need. Certainly there must be strict prohibitions against collecting any data on American citizens without a warrant and periodic outside audits to make sure they’re staying on the straight and narrow.
Meanwhile, the word is that Durham’s investigation is accelerating.
Trafalgar, one of the best pollsters of the past few cycles, has it R+12 in the generic Congressional ballot. Nobody has ever seen anything like that. Everyone is (wisely) taking it with a grain of salt. This is wipe-out territory even if it is R+6. The real kicker in the poll: it was a D+3 sample. Under Pudding Brain, we may test the irreducible minimum of Democrat support.
Canada went under de-facto martial law today – never thought I’d see anything like that. It is very strange – all they have to do is end the absurd mandates and it all goes away. Its not like Trudeau was ever all that popular to begin with. He, in fact, got less votes than the Opposition last time out (though his party ended up gaining a few seats given the weirdness of Canadian politics). He’s pretty much already at the irreducible minimum for a Liberal Prime Minister and the next election is years away. But he’s calling out the big guns. Tactically, the truckers should retreat – just go home. And stay there. Let Canadians find out how dependent they are on truckers. Already there is increasing pressure within Canada to end the mandates, so what amounts to a strike by the truckers would be highly effective.
In the US, the mask mandates are dropping like rocks: our Democrat governor here in Nevada, who apparently can read the polls showing a Red Wave building here, decided that The Science called for an end to mask mandates. But here’s the weird thing: in some Democrat areas, the general mask mandates are being dropped but the mandates for masks in schools are being extended. That is just bizarre as kids are least at risk for catching and transmitting the disease. The teacher’s unions are naturally behind that, but I don’t see the upside for them on it. Could just be Progressive pigheadedness.

I have had the same “conversation” with so many Libs, all you have to do is take out one name and plug in another that you have what passes for political discourse on the Left. As I have related here, I used to listen to the Mike Rosen show on the radio in Denver, and people like this would call him and sound exactly like this. He would ask a question and when the tap dancing started, when the caller would try to divert to a different topic, Mike would inform him of the show rules—the host asks a question and the caller has to answer it before getting to ask one of his own. Don’t follow the rules and it’s Mr. Hold Button.
After a few weeks of hearing people who were starting off echoing what I “thought” but who couldn’t answer a single question about their belief system I started to realize I didn’t want to be one of those people, I wanted to be one of the people who could answer the questions.

In other words, the howling about the alleged “firepower” of the Bushmaster is just rhetoric. I think what made it deadly was that it is easy to handle and has a big magazine, not its “firepower”.
What’s next? A multimillion dollar lawsuit against Dodge if someone is killed in an accident involving a Hellcat? After all, when Dodge makes the car they have to know is a possibility that somewhere down the road it might fall into the hands of someone unfit to operate it safely, and its massive horsepower enables a person in possession of it to inflict unparalleled carnage.

We keep coming back to one of the basic elements of Leftism, which is that it is a collectivist philosophy, which means it pays little if any attention to individuals. It’s all demographics. Actually, their obsession with Trump is necessary. The Left tosses around the term “existential threat” a lot, but what it really means is a threat to the very existence of something. And Donald Trump in the White House, especially after the learning curve of his first four years, actually IS an existential threat to continued Leftist control of our government.
He was dismantling that control, a little at a time, which is why they had to pull out all the stops to get rid of him. Now he knows how the system works, now he has a better idea of who he can trust, and now he’s ticked off—-not a good thing for the Left if he gets back in power.
Trump’s first two years, at the very least, were like watching someone run a marathon with shackles on his ankles, carrying 50 pounds of concrete on his back, with people on the sidelines throwing stuff at him and all the street signs changed to get him off the course. He dealt with a lot of these things enough to start to hit his stride in his last two years, but he was still hampered by the knowledge that then he had to be careful, because he faced reelection.
What the Left did was remove that last impediment to his efforts, in addition to making him so angry that he is far more dangerous to them now than he ever was. I believe that Donald Trump is now in a “take no prisoners” state of mind, and he is backed up by a strong bench on the GOP side so he doesn’t have to worry about poisoning the well for 2028.
And the poor Left is suffering a multitude of self-inflicted wounds. First they were so desperate to get rid of Trump that they backed Biden, a decision that it biting them in the rear so often they are badly wounded. Their miscalculation regarding Harris was so awful they can’t recover from it. Their strategy was to get Biden into office, have him retire after two years and a month or so due to health reasons or something and then preen over being responsible for the first woman president, who is by the way also black. Serving less than two years as president would have meant she could then run for two more terms, and in their minds that would guarantee the White House for a solid twelve year run—because a black woman would be guaranteed reelection. Just look at Obama, who would probably be reelected today if he could run. It probably looked good on paper.
But now they are stuck with Biden because they know they don’t want Harris as president, as she is already doing so much damage to the Identity Politics model they know she would destroy it if given more of a chance. They are basically screwed for the next three years, regarding the Executive Branch, and Pelosi has led the House into a death spiral.
Donald Trump as president, with a Republican Congress, after the past four years illustrating what happens when the hammer is not brought down on the Left, is a nightmare for them. So obsession with him not only makes sense, it is really their only option.

After Trudeau sent in mounted storm troopers on very big horses (note to ICE: get bigger horses) to trample people, there was finally a reference to Tiananmen Square. I had already been thinking of posting something along those lines, wondering when Trudeau’s Tiananmen Square was going to happen.
The people knocked down by the horses were not injured, but I can tell you from experience being knocked down by a horse is very scary. And it is inexcusable to ride horses of any size right into a crowd. Walking, maybe, to break up a crowd, but not at speed. I also noted that the riders didn’t seem very competent.
There is a video of someone screaming to protesters in a different area that the horses had killed someone, and one of the cops in the police line started grinning. It really ticked off the protestors who called him out for smirking and it looked like he was trying to hold back laughter. This is what happens when you use your law enforcement officers as storm troopers.
The only good thing about this is that Trudeau just keeps getting in deeper and deeper. A cop grinning when hearing that the government killed a protestor is exactly the kind of thing it can take to bring down a government and so is sending huge horses into a crowd. The image of the woman lying next to her disability scooter and the man next to her under a horse will, and should be, on every anti-Trudeau poster printed. Another bad optic is the unnecessary but gleeful smashing of windows of unoccupied trucks when the tow trucks were brought in. The very image of windows shattered by police thugs makes a reference to Kristallnacht inevitable, or so I thought. I haven’t seen it yet though.
From an American perspective, I am happy to see the inherent brutality and commitment to total control that IS the Left being played out on a different stage than ours, because ours has so many trained thugs and agitators it would get very violent down here—just look at January 6.
BTW, the proper and usual use of police horses is to contain crowds by providing a barrier of mounted police, or in some cases to move crowds along by moving slowly toward them while on horseback, so the people on foot have time to move back away from them.
What possible strategic policy could have formed the decision to just charge into a crowd?
It was intimidation, pure and simple, and a perfect example of the attitude of the Trudeau regime, that it has the right to force people to submit to its every whim, even when people are injured or possibly killed in the process.
In the meantime, doesn’t this echo the Trudeau policy of identifying and then freezing or confiscating the funds of protesters and those who have supported them? I’ve been saying for a long time that I think a campaign of “THANK YOU BIDEN VOTER” accompanied by pictures of the airport in Afghanistan, people swarming across the border, gas price hikes, etc.
You summed up Dems perfectly: ” They’re never happy, there’s always a crisis, and they are always the victim”. I think that a subtext of “they’re never happy” is that “they’re always mad”. Always, They seem to be seething with loathing and fury, just barely below the surface (when we’re lucky).
