Happy Veteran’s Day!

What is the MSM up to? Well, lying. As a really good for-instance, 60 Minutes did a bit on Margaret Atwood where it is claimed that her weird kink book, The Handmaid’s Tale, has been banned. The book which has been turned into movies and TV shows and is ubiquitous on line and in bookstores has been “banned”.
As an author I don’t like to critique the works of others – especially since I can’t claim the mantle of the Great Author, myself. But I’ve always found the basic premise of Atwood’s story simply ridiculous. In fiction you’re allowed your flights of fancy – after all, you can use magic in Lontaria, right? But I still try to keep the story grounded in how human beings work. And one thing is certain: if only a small percentage of women could get pregnant (as it is in Atwood’s book), those women would rule the world and be able to command the loyalty of the richest and most powerful men. They wouldn’t be slaves while the rich and powerful are married to sterile women. But, anyways, absurd or not, it hasn’t been banned. But the MSM just goes on and lies that it is – not for you and me, but for the upper class white women who still consume MSM product (and who seem to enjoy Atwood’s weird kink…they also liked Fifty Shades of Grey, after all).
It really can’t be emphasized enough how important these lies are to the Ruling Class, now being heavily attacked by Trump and MAGA. Without lies, they’ve got nothing. They’d have to repent of their sins and join us. So it is very important for us to always know what the MSM is up to – what it is for: to keep the Dem base in line and to depress us.
Democrats caved on the shut down – and it has been noted that they didn’t cave in the face of SNAP benefits being delayed, but once some upper class areas were about to lose air service. That’s when they threw in the towel. I mean, can you imagine? What with climate summit and ski seasons upcoming, it was a crisis.
Main thing is there is nothing to show for it – Trump got almost all of his priorities funded for two years with the One Big Beautiful Bill (and, once again, showed himself vastly smarter than anyone else in DC) so the Democrats had no leverage. They tried to get GOPers to panic and fold but they only snagged Rand Paul on that effort. They never got a bi-partisan majority to reject the CR and that was, in the end, the whole story.
The absolutely insane Left base of the Democrat party is furious about this – they were told the Democrats were fighting. Nobody advised them it was all kabuki failure-theater. So now there are rumblings of primary challenges next year to Democrats who voted with the GOP on end the shutdown. Buy popcorn on that.
The calm and relative silence of the past week has been very informative. Because the Dems now have nothing to say, there is no conflict brewing, no name-calling, no incitement to violence or fury. There is still rage and fury but it’s directed at other Dems, a circular firing squad with the prospect of harming some incumbents and little chance of generating enthusiasm for primary challengers.
Which just illustrates where all the negativity comes from. Oh, there are some feeble efforts from the Usual Suspects, but not even ‘their side’ is paying any attention to them. Not even Temu Obama can get any traction.
So they got their shutdown and held onto it and leveraged it as much as they could, but all it got them was a couple of offices in states so blue they would probably have won anyway. And now they have December looming, where they will have to debate those bills that got postponed till then, revealing their fatal flaws and glaring defects, which they have frantically tried to avoid all along. They just wanted their pork and corruption folded into the Republican bill, out of sight and out of mind, and now the agreement is that these schemes will be brought up as bills in December, for regular debate and voting, out there in the open.
Back to a topic I have often addressed—putting me in the tiniest minority in the nation, BTW. That is, the topic of Natural Born Citizenship.
The thinking of the Founders when they made this a requirement for eligibility for the presidency, was that a man (and it was assumed at the time that any president would be a man) would be very strongly influenced by the allegiances of his father. They did not want a president who had grown up with a father committed to another nation and its government, ideology, etc. They believed our presidents should be Americans in every sense, from birth.
Therefore, the requirement to be a Natural Born Citizen, which was always clearly understood to be someone whose father was a citizen (later assumed to be modified to include a mother who was a citizen when citizenship was determined to be from either a paternal or maternal citizen parent). And the wisdom of this has been proved, as we had eight years of a president whose father hated the United States, and who illustrated this influence throughout his presidency and beyond. Even though he was technically a Natural Born Citizen due to his mother being a citizen at the time of his birth, the influence of his father (whether his official father, his biological father or his figurative father) always guided his ideology and his attitude toward this country.
Today an article referred to this phenomenon, in saying about Mondami “Nor is the incoming mayor’s ideology one of convenience, or recently adopted. Whatever else he may be, Zohran Mamdani is a dutiful son who is reflecting the values and perspectives that he learned from his parents.“
It may be that Marco Rubio’s father, who was not a citizen when Marco was born, had a deep and sincere allegiance to the United States and a commitment to this country and its principles and laws. It may be that Marco grew up with the same influences as any son of a loyal citizen. But that doesn’t mean that we should say “to be eligible to be president one must be a Natural Born Citizen or just someone similar”.
Any effort to nominate Rubio would, I predict, lead to chaos and if successful to a Constitutional crisis. We cannot doubt that the Left would bring up the Natural Born Citizenship issue, and stridently defend it, throwing yet another Republican election cycle into chaos and conflict. The legal definition of Natural Born Citizen would, finally, end up with the Supreme Court, and any ruling would then be held up as the Court “choosing our president” (as we saw in 2000) affecting the perception of the election itself and the Court.
I like Rubio. I like him a lot. I think he’s brilliant as Secretary of State, and I actually think he would probably be a good president. In many ways he would probably be better than Vance, because of his experience. But if he doesn’t step up and address this issue now, or at least when his name is suggested as a candidate, I will lose all respect for him and see him as an opportunist who is willing to throw the Constitution under the bus and contribute to damaging the Republican Party, its chances to retain the White House, and the disasters that would lead to, out of pure ambition.
Rubio would have the chance to show himself a true statesman, as well as a true patriot, by stepping up and explaining why he is not eligible for the presidency. He would not only help the 2028 campaign, he would be instrumental in finally establishing a legal definition for the phrase Natural Born Citizen, providing a foundation for the Supreme Court to build upon, and I believe cement his legacy.
(Look at the list of possible contenders for the presidency in 2024. Three were not even legally, Constitutionally, eligible for the position, yet they ran campaigns, participated in debates, and if any had been more successful would have generated the problem I just described. Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy are all, according to one interpretation of the 14th Amendment, citizens, but none are Natural Born Citizens. Yet not a single voice was raised to point this out, allowing that train to trundle on down the track no matter what this might have led to.)
It is a good point – and I think we all like Rubio; he’s turning out to be a very effective Secretary of State, perhaps one of the very best we’ve had. It is also obvious that he does have ambitions – but the word is that he’s also smart enough to know that outside some bizarre set of circumstances, Vance is the likely GOP nominee in 2028. The good news is, then, that this particular problem might not become such until 2036.
Meanwhile, in addition to clearly patriotic Rubio we also have Mamdani in our country as an alleged citizen. I say “alleged” because I do want a full check on his supposed path to becoming an American citizen. But you are also right that it is clear Mamdani hates this country, as does his father. Even if every I was dotted and T crossed on his citizenship application, can anyone really say that he wasn’t lying when he supposedly swore, “that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God”? And while you are right that the Left would bring up Rubio’s parentage, make no mistake about it – they will try to get Mamdani into the White House if they think they have a shot at it. The Left is only interested in power, after all.
The bottom line is that we do need to craft a way to ensure that only people who love America can become citizens – and a path to denaturalization for those who are proved before a jury of their peers to hate America. We also need to, in general, prohibit the foreign born from holding any office of profit or trust in the USA…though I might make an exception for a foreign-born who served honorably at least twenty years in our armed forces.
The good news is, then, that this particular problem might not become such until 2036.
And then what? The Constitution will have been amended? Or we can just ignore it then?
Don’t really know – by then I’ll be 71 pushing 72. I’d like firm adherence to the Constitution but by then it really will be in the hands of younger people who aren’t well educated in such matters. What I’d like to leave them is a system where at least going forward the marker is set that foreign born can’t hold office at all.
It’s really disturbing that this latest Epstein delusional conspiracy is all Democrats have … and they continue to use it to divide and show everyone their immaturity and inability to think and govern. What happened to them? All Democrats do is rage, throw tantrums, call every one names, throw out completely delusional shit, and expect everyone to believe them when they have done nothing but repeatedly lie about everything over the last two decades. Democrats have become nothing more than things like bottle caps, or pieces of lint. Just things that need to be removed.
come off it rocks. You know very well that there is no there there no matter how much you stomp your feet and pout and bark at the moon.
it’s the democrats that just now balked on the release, so there’s that.
The Epstein delusion is the Russia Collusion delusion 2.0. Don’t you think Comey, Brennan, and Biden would have used this info if it were true? Get the fuck outta here
The environmental group that stopped that pipeline is suspending operations…that is the Trump Effect. That is what is important. Sure, the Democrats can still shout and lie and the MSM still gives them an uncritical megaphone…but it is coming to an end. They can’t sustain it. The government money is slipping away.
there is an actual accurate term for that which is not, in fact, pedophile. Do you oppose slime balls being labeled accurately?
Here’s a good example of the worst media in the world.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15293425/MAGA-battle-Marjorie-Taylor-Greene-Donald-Trump-Epstein.html
Everything is a crisis and MTG is tearing apart MAGA!! LOL. MTG couldn’t tear apart a paper bag … she’s a sensationalist always for her 15 mins of fame. I read today how the man who thinks he is a congresswoman … Mr> McBride, put on social media that the cost to change the name of the Dept. of War was enough to house every homeless veteran. Think about that. And of course their mouth breathing base laps it up. America is almost too stupid to survive.
What a convoluted, disjointed article. It’s like they took a bushel basket of turds and flung it against the wall to see what would stick.
The political discourse on the Left has become the equivalent of a mean girl high school slumber party. It is all sensational, emotionally challenged virtue signaling with zero substance behind any of it. And some low IQ republicans play along … MTG is just the latest. It’s almost as if they are proud about how stupid they are …
MTG forgot that she is part of the supporting cast – her demand for a starring role in MAGA is being rejected. You see what DeSantis is doing and that’s how you audition for the starring role…you pick some MAGA point (in his case, border security) and do actions which support the star (Trump). This generates goodwill with MAGA and, of course, will come in handy if DeSantis wants to move up the ranks down the road.
The panic is palpable. re: Epstein: they don’t even try to keep the timelines straight or fill in any blanks. I understand why they don’t think they need to expend the effort—they know there is a solid base that will believe and regurgitate anything negative about Trump no matter how bizarre, so this is their target audience. But still, one would think there might be a modicum of ability to be embarrassed by such utter stupidity.
As I was reading some articles about Trump/Epstein last week I noticed a timeline but I didn’t make notes. What I did see, though, was a period in which the two men seemed to get along, superficially, on a social level, and engaged in the same casual social/business relationships like playing golf or belonging to the same clubs. Being wealthy and attractive in a town which openly whores itself for such attributes, they were constantly being asked to be photographed together, and as canny businessmen they acquiesced. (When I married into a politically, socially and financially prominent family I became part of this kind of social event, and saw how it works, saw people I knew did not like or trust each other being posed for photos together, being seated next to each other at charity dinners, being included in things like golfing outings, etc. The naive and unsophisticated might see these superficial “relationships” and think they are significant, and the hate-driven eagerly slurp down the Agenda Media’s spin on them, but most people know it is all smoke and mirrors.)
Apparently Trump began to notice things about Epstein he didn’t like. I don’t remember the sequence of events, but he did discuss Epstein with the FBI and agree to report anything he thought was serious. He did kick Epstein out of Mar-A-Lago—the official story was that this was because Epstein was trying to hire girls away from the resort, but in fact most if not all of it was because of Epstein making a very obnoxious pass at the teenage daughter of a Trump friend. Trump did become aware of Epstein’s “girls” being hired away from him, and no doubt also heard gossip about girls at Epstein’s estates. (This was the worst-kept secret since people tried to cover for Bill Clinton’s sexual predation.) This was no doubt part of the discussions with the FBI as well as kicking Epstein out of Mar-A-Lago.
When a local billionaire went bankrupt and his estate went on the market, near Mar-A-Lago, Trump and Epstein got in a bidding war on it, and Trump won. Epstein was supposedly very angry and bitter about this, and not too long after made his statement that Trump is a horrible person.
So the stories don’t hold together—-Trump was reporting on Epstein to the FBI and kicked him out of Mar-A-Lago, Trump beat him in an intense bidding war, Epstein wrote a scathing comment about Trump calling him a terrible person—-and yet mixed in with all of this are the bits and pieces of gossip that the Loony Left tries to weave into a tapestry of Trump/Epstein friendship and collusion. So they find nothing odd about their claim that after Epstein got shellacked in a contentious bidding war and then wrote very nasty things about Trump he then invited President Trump to spend Thanksgiving with him, and Trump accepted the invitation! There are records of where the President is at all times, and President Trump spent Thanksgiving of 2017 with his family at Mar-A-Lago, not cavorting with a man he despised.
And Epstein/Trump is not the only corpse being dug up by a panicky Left and subjected to efforts to breathe life back into it. Matt Gaetz is also being named in another effort to generate outrage about the fact that a few years ago he had dated, and traveled with, a young woman who turned out to be 17.
Oh, the highly complicit Agenda Media worked overtime to try to whip this into outrage and, naturally, PEDOPHILIA! It fell apart when the young woman admitted she had lied to Gaetz about her age, had shown him a fake ID, that her friends all knew she posed as older than she was, and that he had absolutely no way of knowing that she was underage.
But they flogged this story as hard as they could, even dragging in the Mann Act—he took his girlfriend on a trip ACROSS STATE LINES !!! gasp gasp shock and then THEY WERE INTIMATE!!! clutching of pearls. They worked so hard trying to make a trip taken by a dating couple into a sordid plot to smuggle an underage girl across state lines for immoral purposes it was actually fun to watch.
And now they are back, trying to revive the story. It’s harder when around the second or third line the story has to admit that the girl in question has admitted under oath that she liked to Gaetz about her age, deceived him, and he had no way of knowing she was only 17. But they didn’t let this slow them down, and did their sorry little best to blow it up into The Next Big Republican Sex Scandal.
This, combined with the recent “BOMBSHELL !!” of an oddly edited email that supposedly makes it possible to think that Trump spent time in a house with someone who had been trafficked by Epstein, really just telegraphs the impression that as the frantic Dems go down lists of things they might be able to use against Trump they all landed on “Sex Scandals–Epstein and Gaetz'”and the obedient lapdog press started its job of trying to build these into something significant. They actually had to try to hide the name of the woman who was supposedly in the house with Trump by calling her the “Victim” when the unedited email named a woman who has repeatedly stated, under oath, that she never saw Trump in the Epstein house or saw him act in any way that was disrespectful or offensive.
What??? you say, in stunned surprise! THE MEDIA ACTUALLY BLATANTLY LIED! Oh, say it ain’t so, Joe. But it is. This is one of the most obvious examples, though the entire Epstein/Trump effort is rife with others.
I have never had much use for MTG. She always struck me as someone angling for attention.
For a while she was kind of compared to or linked to Lauren Boebert, which bothered me because I had liked Lauren and supported her when she got into politics. She also made some stupid missteps, dealing badly with an a-hole ex husband and the stresses of divorce—but she recovered, found her footing, moved out the district that had been taken over by Dem Big Money in an effort to defeat her and moved into another where she has settled down, worked hard, and earned respect.
Greene, on the other hand, is still showboating, and in the process shown us that she does not value loyalty as much as she seeks the spotlight and a chance to get attention. I’m not sure what she thinks she can accomplish—draw Republican support away from Trump? Divide the GOP and pick up enough of the splinters to gain some traction in some way? Get Dem support?
To me, she has become just another example of the dumpster fire that is Georgia politics.
It has been a mess! And while Kemp has done some good things, can’t wait for him to be gone because he does encourage the Dems on one hand and the anti-Trump loons on the other. Once again, DeSantis is showing how it’s done – with honorable mention to Abbott in Texas.
Hakeem Jeffries may be the dumbest man in Congress. And that political body includes people like Stacy Plasket, Ilhan Omar, and Jasmine Crocket … so that’s saying a lot.
I love how the Democrats call it the “Republican Health Care Crisis” of course without any media correction. Obamacare was entirely their deal, they even shut down the government to pass it in 2010, established the subsidies and set the expiration dates. But it’s not their problem. America is too stupid to survive.
