The Culture of Death and liberal fascism – evil twins which never stop trying. From the National Catholic Register:

The Department of Health and Human Services is considering a request from the American Civil Liberties Union that it compel Catholic hospitals to provide emergency abortions.

But the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty has vowed not only to provide free legal defense for any hospital the HHS takes action against, but to sue the feds to stop them…

This is a back-door effort to force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions – or to force them out of business. Catholics can never, ever perform or assist in the performance of an elective abortion. Medical procedures can be done which have as their unfortunate side-effect the ending of a pregnancy, but what the ACLU is trying to do here is kick in the door and make an issue where some will claim it was medically necessary, others won’t but liberal judges would be found to rule against the Church and award damages…facing the Church with the stark choice of either denying Truth, or ending a service.

This is what they did in the United Kingdom regarding adoptions – because the liberal fascists demanded that Catholics violate their conscience and adopt children to gay couples, the Church was forced out of the adoption business altogether. The ultimate liberal goal is, of course, to destroy the Church – and they are more than willing to do it in incremental steps, each time calling to witness a misrepresentation of mercy and justice.

Make no mistake about this: we are in a fight for our liberties. All of them. The left, checked in Tuesday’s election, isn’t going to give up. They’ll just keep pressing their case by every avenue available, confident that they’ll eventually wear us down. This is why our fight must be across the board – no truce, ever. While one issue might become temporarily more important than others in the day-to-day battle, we have to be mindful of the big picture, and go toe-to-toe with the left where ever it rears its ugly head.

With their sweeping electoral victory in hand, Republicans are committed to ending earmarks – the local-project riders to legislation – and focusing on the big national issues, a top Senate Republican said Wednesday.

“We can’t have 500 congressmen and senators who think it’s their job to bring home the bacon – and that’s what’s going to change,” South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint told CBS’ “The Early Show. “One of the first thing we’ll do in the House and Senate is ban earmarks as Republicans – that’ll get our eyes back on fixing our tax code, fixing social security and Medicare, getting America back to work.”…

It is in pressing these common sense, populist reforms where we’ll gain our traction, where we’ll gain the genuine respect of the American people, and the long term lease on power which that will bring.

We have to hit the ground running – there are plenty of popular things to do which, acted upon swiftly, will bring credit to us and which will set the narrative for 2012 even if (actually, especially if) Democrats manage to block them either in the Senate or with Obama’s veto pen. Genuinely reforming America will take either a complete change of heart on the part of Obama (unlikely), or the complete defeat of Obama and the Democrats in 2012. Until that, all we can do is hold the line and keep demonstrating why we should be entrusted with full power.

Remember that November 2nd was just Step 1. The process of reforming America will take years, and can’t fully get underway as long as Obama is President. We have to be prepared for long, drawn out and difficult times – including defeats along the way. But if we keep our eye on the ball and hold the Congressional GOP to the fire, we can do this, and save our nation from disaster.

Voters in Iowa chose to remove three high court justices who helped make Iowa the first Midwestern state to permit same-sex marriage.

The vote marks the first time a member of the Iowa Supreme Court has been rejected by the voters under the current system that began in 1962…

Whether you favor of oppose same-sex marriage, if you are an American you must insist that judges not impose this novelty upon the American people. Something as large as this with so much public passion on both sides requires a democratic resolution – only if the people want it should it be done.

Additionally, this is yet another shot across the bow of the gay rights activists – keep pursuing your goals in the courts and you will eventually provoke an amendment to the United States constitution permanently defining marriage as between one man and one woman. The people have had quite enough of judges making laws – law-making is for the people, or their elected representatives, period.

The end of one-party rule means a lot of changes:

Republicans are likely to urge the Obama administration not to shred documents as they transition to the House majority. 



Before the election, GOP officials on Capitol Hill privately discussed the issue but refrained from publicly tackling it, not wanting to assume what would happen on Election Day.

 Now that Republicans will control the House, the shredding matter will move front and center…

No more just doing whatever you want – we’re watching you.

It happened last night, though some of our liberals seem to be latching on to Reid’s win as some sort of “victory”. It certainly is disappointing that this hopelessly corrupt and mindlessly Statist Democrat managed to win, but he’s actually a liability for the Democrats who have an even rougher task in 2012, even supposing the economy gets better and Obama gets re-elected. Right now, the Democrats have lost the House, lost the governorships, lost the State legislatures and have retained Harry Reid and a weak, unworkable majority in the Senate. A majority which merely ensures the Democrats remain responsible for everything which goes wrong, but which can’t advance an election-winning agenda.

Our task has now become more difficult – working to rescue America while also working to ensure Obama’s defeat in 2012. That is something we must not lose sight of. No matter what sort of triangulation Obama may try, we must eject him from the White House. He has proven himself not just incompetent, but divisive…America is weaker because he is President and putting him in for a second term is just too risky.

This will not be easy. Our economy is in shambles; our government is bankrupt. We have to balance the budget, cut taxes, restore productivity and do this all in a world becoming daily more dangerous. And we’ll have to do it while Democrats work for only one purpose – to return themselves to power so they can resume looting our nation for their personal benefit.

The war is not won – and, in fact, the biggest battle starts today. Get ready for it.

CBS has Angle up 49/45 over Reid – don’t know what part of the State has reported yet. Reid needs a big day in Clark County to win.

As a word of explanation, we were voted the most stupid Sate in the nation, so cut us some slack…

So far, the GOP has picked up 7 State legislatures…its a wipe out of the Democrats with an annoyance in the Senate.

Caddell: This is the worst outcome imaginable for Democrats; official control of the Senate with Reid still lingering on while actual control goes to the GOP while the House is firmly in GOP hands.

All that is about finally being rid of Harry Reid ads – boys and girls, you simply don’t know what sort of punishment Harry has been inflicting on us over the past 6 months!

Anyways…

There really isn’t much to write about until the exit polls start leaking about noon, Eastern. As usual, treat any early exit polls with caution – the MSM is still in bed with the Democrats and they may, once again, try to depress GOP turnout by leaking stories of an alleged fizzle for the GOP. None of us can really know what will happen – and there still is that chance that Democrats will do better than expected. The only thing to do is to vote (if you haven’t already) and then just see what happens – the decision is made, we’re just waiting for the results.

Whether it winds up just a good win for the GOP or surges to a wipe out for the Democrats really doesn’t matter too much – the main thing is that this election is a resounding rejection of Obama’s liberalism. It is not – NOT – an embrace of the GOP, at least not yet. We’re a party on probation. If we do the right thing, then we’ll be handed a generation of power come 2012. If we screw it up, then we’re done for (so are Democrats, though if the GOP melts down, they might eke out a win in 2012, but that will be the last of it). Revolution is in the air – the people want genuine, fundamental change back to our old, Constitutional Republic. We deliver that we’re going to be fine – and, more important, save our country.

I’ll be out and about a bit today (do have to do that voting thing, and have several engagements ’round town in to the afternoon). I’ll be here in the evening, starting before the polls close in the east – and then we’ll carry on…though if the House goes GOP early, I might head out to one of the GOP victory parties to join the Rally to Destroy Sobriety.

Go vote; pray for our country – and let’s just see what happens.
