Michelle Bachmann’s Headache

David French explains what is nauseating about the allegations:

…I don’t use the word cowardice lightly.  Here we have former aides who say they’re “terrified” by her condition.  They even deliberately chose to say that she’s “incapacitated” for days at a time and made vague accusations about pill use.  Yet they can’t even muster up the courage to identify themselves?  If the stakes really are so high, surely their patriotism would compel them to come forward so that we can ask some questions, weigh their credibility, and discern whether they had enough access to the candidate to know what she’s endured.  By remaining anonymous we can’t cross-examine them (so to speak) and discover the truth.

Then there’s the evidence.  Or lack thereof.  Anonymous aides expressed terror at her condition, yet if you read the entire article you’ll find that she allegedly missed a grand total of one planned campaign event . . . in 2010.  A second lurid tale concerns a migraine so bad that she merely “managed to attend several events in California, including an appearance before a California chapter of the Eagle Forum and a fundraiser in Palm Springs.”  Oh, but she was “in pain throughout.”  Nice to know…

Anonymous sources do have their proper place – but, in my view, only when corroborated by other hard evidence.  In other words, if you discovered a prescription for migraine medication made out to Bachmann and then went and asked her aides and one of them, not for attribution, confirmed that she suffers from migraines, then you’d have story.  What we’ve got here, however, is just one anonymous denunciation – that isn’t a story; that is a slander.

But the MSM doesn’t really care – Obama and Co are worried sick about Bachmann and so they are giving her the Palin treatment.  Doesn’t matter what it is, just throw it at her…bury her in muck hoping that enough of it will stick, even if false, to incapacitate her as a candidate.  “Smear” will be the mildest description of what Obama’s goons will do to each and every Republican who in any way, shape or form poses a threat to Obama’s re-election effort.

There is nothing we can do to stop them – but we can start going all West on the liberals.  French is a bit sorry for having used the word “coward” – he shouldn’t be.  It was a deceitful, underhanded and cowardly attack…the work of the most disgusting sort of blackguard.  The man who launched it deserves to be whipped.  Hit them back and hit them back hard – ask them again and again and again just why they are so disgusting.  Make their slanders an issue:  that is the way to fight back.

And, meanwhile, just keep up the conservative/libertarian drumbeat.  Let the Democrats alternate between making attacks and answering our charges of skullduggery.  We’ll concentrate on telling the American people what we want to do.  The path to victory is paved with two stones – a stoned labelled “vision” and another labelled “fight”.  Press the vision, keep up the fight…and then we’ll win.

…Alarms bells must be ringing all over Obamaland today. Unemployment on Election Day about where it is right now? Sputtering — if not stalling — economic growth? To many Americans that would sound like the car is back in the ditch — if it was ever out. Maybe Goldman is wrong, but economists across Wall Street have been growing more bearish.

And recall that back in August of 2009, the White House — after having a half year to view the economy and its $800 billion stimulus response — made an astoundingly optimistic (PDF) forecast. Starting in 2011, with Obamanomics fully in gear and the recession over, growth would take off. GDP would rise 4.3 percent in 2011, followed by … 4.3 percent growth in 2012 and 2013, too!  And 2014? Another year of 4.0 percent growth. Off to the races, America…

Do take a look at that “astoundingly optimistic” White House forecast – as far as Obama and Co were concerned, the stimulus was going to get us rip roaring in to boom economic times.  It is all there – carefully laid our projections about how wonderful things were going to be.  I can only guess that they really believed it – after all, they were being rather arrogant in their assumptions of 2012 victory back there when questions first arose about the effects of the stimulus.  Only people who really believed in it could have looked at the 2010 data and assumed that 2011 would have 4.3% GDP growth (if we’re lucky – very lucky – we’ll see official growth at 2.5% for the year 2011; which is not nearly enough to get things rolling).  The big question:  do they still believe it?

As Pethokoukis notes at the end of his article, there is still a very short time left for Obama to change course and have a chance at a reasonably good economy for election day, 2012.  But I mean he’d really have to move fast – in the next few weeks we’d have to see serious proposals to cut the tax and regulatory burden on wealth creation for it to have a noticeable positive effect by election day.  Wait until the end of August and it will be too late – the good news would start to roll in around January of 2013, just as we’re swearing in President Bachmann.  But if they are still retaining their faith in the stimulus, then they’ll do nothing and just cross there fingers that some how, some way, what has thus-far failed will start to work in an astounding manner over the next 15 months.

And if that is the case, then the good news is that Obama won’t be re-elected – the bad news is that the economy will be very much worse before we get rid of him.

 

Race Card, Bottom of the Deck: Democrats as Usual

We’re all just raaaaacists for arguing with Obama:

 

For 80 years we’ve watched liberalism slowly bankrupt our nation; now it is crunch time and we must cut spending to save ourselves.  This is just something that happens, and happened while our President happens to be black.  Wouldn’t matter if it was President Hillary up there (though I guess we’d be seeeeexist at that point).

This is a sad, desperate attempt to fire up the liberal base for 2012…poll after poll shows sagging support among the left for the President.  It isn’t that these people will vote GOP in 2012, but they might well decide to stay home…not only costing Obama the White House, but causing down-ballot Democrats to lose, as well.  Pulling out the race card is a sure-fire method of getting liberal foot soldiers back in to the battle…because, remember, your typical white liberal is wracked by guilt.  Figuring that “white privilege” is the source of their wealth and well-being, they are easily swayed by accusations of racism.  This may well help perk them up and get them donating and volunteering again, lest those evil, racist, sexist, homophobic Republicans win.

We can expect a lot more of this as 2012 comes in – and in rising hysteria if Obama’s poll numbers continue to crater.

Obama’s Fat Cat Donors Come Through

The Billion Dollar Man is making his way – and selling himself completely.  From Politico:

About 40 percent of President Barack Obama’s record-breaking $86 million second-quarter fundraising haul came from big-money bundlers, according to a POLITICO analysis of donors listed on Obama’s campaign web site.

No fewer than 27 mega-bundlers managed to collect at least $500,000 for a joint account run by Obama’s 2012 campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

That exclusive circle included marquee fundraisers like Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Hollywood titan Jeffrey Katzenberg, DNC treasurer/personal finance guru Andrew Tobias and former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, who was CEO of Goldman Sachs before entering politics.

That group chipped in a minimum of $13.5 million, according to records. In addition, $21.4 million was bundled in amounts of between $50,000 and $499,000…

Thank goodness Obama is fighting for the poor and middle class; if that weren’t the case, all this millionaire and billionaire money would be worrisome.  And we know he’s going after the millionaires and billionaires because he says so – whenever he talks taxes, he’s sure to mention that millionaires and billionaires must pay their fair share.  So, it is amazing that the millionaires and billionaires keep coming through for him…I mean, after all, Obama is promising to tax them more.  In fact, his proposals for taxation always call for hitting those millionaires and billionaires who make more than $250,000.00 per year….

Hey, wait a minute…how many years would you have to work to become a millionaire at $250,000.00 a year?  Four years…if you didn’t spend a dime on anything.  And how many to become a billionaire?  Four thousand years…  You know, now that I think about it, it seems kind of strange that Obama would say a millionaire makes $250,000.00 a year…and downright stupid to think that a billionaire makes that much.  Could it be…?  No!  It couldn’t be that!  It couldn’t be that all Obama is doing is talking about taxing the rich while really taxing the middle class and that is why the millionaires and billionaires are pouring money in to his campaign.  That couldn’t be the case, could it?

Poll: “Generic” Republican Beats Obama by 5

…The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds that the generic Republican picks 48% of the vote, while the president gets 43% support.  Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided…

It seems to me that as we have gotten deeper in to the budget and debt battle and have stood ever more firmly, we have been gaining an advantage over Obama and his Democrats. This is in keeping with the November results and with the general tenor of the American people – everyone is sick to death with business as usual.  This slowly discovered GOP backbone is giving people something to be hopeful about.

Stand up; stand firm – no fear and no worries.  We’ll win this fight if we just stick to our guns.

UPDATE:  Gallup has the generic Republican up by 8, and Obama only getting 39%!

Michelle Bachmann, Hero

She understands:

I saw Bachmann on O’Reilly and I have to say that while Bachmann was great, she did flub one of her answerst.  O’Reilly about whether or not Geithner is lying – whether, that is, we’ll really have a catastrophe if we don’t raise the debt ceiling?  Bachmann answered that Geithner is wrong – probably out of an unwillingness to ever directly call someone a liar (one bit of courage we are sorely lacking in the modern world).  Bachammn should have answered like this:

“Lying?  I don’t know, Bill; lying our stupid.  Think about it:  what Geithner, Obama and the rest are saying is that the only way to avoid bankruptcy is to go further in to debt. ”

You have to be some kind of special definition of obtuse to believe such nonsense – piling on more debt is what will cause our default.  The way to avoid default is to cease piling on more debt.  Remember, the only reason to raise the debt ceiling is because you want to borrow more money – you want to continue to live beyond your means.  I don’t know about any of you, but it seems to me that the best course of action for a man teetering on the edge of bankruptcy is to spend less money – certainly not to borrow any more.

Bachmann is right, though, about the fact that we won’t default – we have plenty of revenues coming in to pay off old debts, roll them over with new debts and meet the vital needs – social security, medicare/medicaid, defense, etc.  What we don’t have the money for is things like the Departments of Commerce, Labor and Energy, as well as whole swaths of more useful Departments like Health and Defense.  We can, if we are only willing to offend core, Democrat constituencies, easily cut several hundred billion out of the 2012 budget…and that would eliminate any need for raising the debt ceiling.  Bachmann sees this – so does a small but growing number of Congressional GOPers.  So, too, will a majority of the American people once it is properly explained to them.

So, this makes Bachmann a hero – she said it:  the Emperor has no clothes – debt does not make you rich.  It is the first step in restoring fiscal sanity to our nation.

Obama’s Pennsylvania Troubles

Pennsylvania is looking more and more like it could be a tough hold for Barack Obama in 2012. His approval rating in the state continues to be under water at 46/48. More voters have expressed disapproval than happiness with Obama on all three polls PPP has done in the state so far in 2011. And even though Obama took Pennsylvania by 10 points in 2008 the best he can muster right now in a head to head match up with Mitt Romney is a tie…

It is best to still rate Pennsylvania as “Lean Democrat” for the 2012 campaign – it has been a reliably blue State in Presidential politics since 1992, so we have to assume that Obama will pull it out.  This is especially true given that Democrats absolutely control the Philadelphia area and are always willing to manufacture enough votes there to counter-balance the GOP elsewhere in the State.  On the other hand, the GOP controls the Pennsylvania governorship and legislature, and that will put a damper on Democrat ability to cheat…might get caught, you know?

One thing is certain, though, is that if Obama can’t win Pennsylvania then he can’t be re-elected President of the United States.  The GOP doesn’t need the State (we can get together 285 electoral votes just by winning the same States as Bush did in 2000 thanks to population growth in the red States…heck, we can even let Obama have New Hampshire and Colorado of the Bush 2000 States and still have 272), but Obama does…and if he loses it, it means that he is likely also losing New Hampshire, Michigan and Wisconsin; in other words, for Obama to lose Pennsylvania means that he’s heading for a landslide loss.

And that is what this poll shows – Obama losing Pennsylvania.  But, don’t anyone get too excited about this.  Obama will spend a billion dollars and will leave no stone unturned to win in 2012.  It will be the hardest fought campaign in history and we can lose it, easily, if we screw up – especially if we screw up by thinking we’ve got it in the bag.  Fight, fight and then fight some more – that is what we have to do in 2012.

Obamunism! What Has Happened to the Dollar?

If you look back to 2009, you can see that the dollar was worth about 1.15 Swiss Francs…now it is worth about 0.84 Swiss Francs.  This is what happens to your money when your government goes massively in to debt and prints up bags of money…the value of the money goes down.

This really needs to be driven home – the Obama/Bernanke economic polices have amounted to the stealing of our money.  Those dollars you carefully saved in 2009 for a rainy day?  They are now worth less than they were in 2009…think of it like putting a dollar in the piggy bank on January 1st, 2009 and then checking piggy today and finding about 90 cents in there.  What happened to your dime?  Well it, and a dime out of all your dollars, was taken way…and given to banksters and well-connected, Democrat special interests.  And this didn’t happen just to your dollars, but to everyone’s.  This is the most massive heist in human history…and it was carried out right under our noses by men who claimed they were doing it for our own good.

This is why you’re paying more for a gallon of gas and for a loaf of bread – it isn’t that gasoline and bread have actually gone up in price, but that the value of your dollar has gone down…and gown down at a time when almost all of us are earning either just the same number of dollars as before, or even less for those who lost their jobs and/or were forced to take a pay cut.  Remember it, remember it, remember it:  in order that Bernanke’s bankster buddies and Obama’s union cash cows could be protected you had your money stolen from you.

It is, indeed, time for a change – the Ruling Class is robbing us blind, selling us out to foreigners and working not just to deprive us of our rights, but of our own country.  Fight hard and never give up – remember what sort of people we’re dealing with and use it to steel your heart to ever greater efforts in 2012.  We must get rid of these people if we want to save our nation.
