Punishing the Rutgers Idiots

Suggestion from the Mrs – they have to stand naked in the center of the Rutgers campus for a day with everyone free to take pictures of them.

What would jail do? How long could you keep them in jail? Our desire is that this not be repeated – that at least a minimal standard of decency be instilled in people. In olden times, we’d probably have flogged these boys for this sort of offense. I’d personally still prefer that – laying a few stripes on the backs of the dishonorable always provides a useful lesson – but we are very cowardly in our increasing barbarism, so such is not possible. But, this suggestion does seem to fit the crime.

Poll: Nobody Wants to be a Democrat

Will the last person to leave the DNC please shut out the lights?

For the second month in a row, the number of Americans who identify themselves as Democrats has fallen to a record low.

In September, 34.6% of American Adults identified themselves as Democrats. That’s down nearly half a percentage point from a month ago, a full percentage point from two months ago, and is the smallest percentage of Democrats ever recorded in nearly eight years of monthly tracking….

The sorta-bad news for the GOP is that no one really wants to be a Republican, either…but we’re at least tending to hold steady in our numbers as people get set to give us one last chance…but the Democrats are being hammered.

Anyways, just more fun for November…

The Malpractice of Gloria Allred

William Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection notices what Allred has actually done to Whitman’s former maid:

The other interesting aspect, quite apart from politics, is Allred’s willingness to expose her client to legal harm even though the client does not have any meaningful legal claim. This is not a case where Allred’s client is a crime victim who comes forward to the police. There does not appear to be a violation of any law by Whitman, but there does appear to be both immigration and possibly criminal violations by Allred’s client, who filed false documents with the government. By going public as she has, Allred has exposed her client to significant legal jeopardy in order to score publicity and political points for Allred.

By her own statements, Ms. Diaz broke the law – she is liable for criminal prosecution and Allred exposed Ms. Diaz to this jeopardy simply to help her Democrats score a point against Meg Whitman. This is the most ruthless and cruel using of a fellow human being imaginable. Diaz doesn’t matter – she’s just a prop in a liberal, Democrat narrative. This is not the first time we’ve seen this – look at the way the left cruelly exploited Cindy Sheehan in order to score propaganda points against President Bush.

The people on the left are getting really rather disgusting these days – but I guess that is what we can expect from a Ruling Class which is about to be ejected from power.

UPDATE: Greta Van Susteren destroyed Allred and Gateway Pundit has the video.

Obamunism! Embrace the Suck

Because in the “new normal”, its going to be around for a while:

…Washington and Wall Street are coming around to the idea that the economic future we’re stumbling towards will be far less generous from the normality we long for. The “New Normal” — a disarmingly benign term coined by Mohamed El-Erian, co-chief investment officer of the big California investment firm Pimco — envisions a future of sluggish growth, international discord, increased uncertainty and minuscule returns on capital. Government revenues shrink while spending remains high…

It is that last bit which ensures that we will flounder – “while spending remains high”. There is, to be sure, a demographic reality which will be hard to cope with: soon, some time within the next few decades, the human population of the world will probably start to decline. But that problem is manageable (and will probably be relatively short-lived…I expect that as secular people die off, the believing remnant – especially the Christian part of it – will rise to greater power and thus start to enforce policies which encourage family formation and child-rearing): what is not manageable is our debt. We simply have too much of it.

It appears that the real debt of the United States is about equal to all the money in the world. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has not been slack at piling up unsustainable debt, on its own. The net of all this is way too much debt being supported by less and less wealth – and this debt prevents us from developing the economic sinews which would allow us to offset the coming decline in population.

It could get very ugly – but at best is will just be bad. Maybe a bit of growth here and there, from time to time, but mostly stagnation. The debt prevents us from doing what we need – balance the budget and start paying off debt, and ever more money will flow in to the productive economy. Its really a pretty simple choice – the only thing lacking so far is the political will to really cut spending.

The Pornification of American Life

Gay Patriot has some heart felt comments about that horrible tragedy at Rutgers where a young man was secretly taped engaging in sex and killed himself after it was posted on the web:

…These two probably just thought they were pulling a prank, but they didn’t consider consider the feelings of Clementi. He was so young and while ready to act out his feeling for men, not yet ready to have his sexuality made public. It takes time to deal with the public ramifications of our difference. Not just that, even when we are comfortable with our sexuality, our private life is just that, private life. Many of us, not just a 18-year-old just coming to terms with his difference, would be embarrassed if strangers, friends even, witnessed our sexual activity. It is the most private, the most personal of things…

It is true that the perpetrators didn’t consider the feelings of Clementi – but, then again, why should they? At what point in a young man’s life do we, as a society, instill a sense of decorum? Any sense of manners? Of good taste? College used to be a place where gentlemen went to finish their education as preparation for taking high places in the larger world. When, do you think, was the last time an American college turned out a gentleman? This comment in the news story about the tragedy says it all:

…But a friend of Ravi’s said he believes it was just a prank.

“He’s very, very open-minded,” Michael Zhuang said. “If it had been a girl in the room it wouldn’t have been any different.”…

I have no doubt that is true – that if Clementi had been having relations with a woman, no fundamentally different event would have occurred. We still would have had an 18 year old boy engaging in sexual activity in the dorm while his 18 year old room mate videotaped him, and then broadcast it for all the world to see.

This is what we have done – this whole, terrible event is the end result of decades of turning our society in to an ill-mannered, cruel and tawdry bordello. Think about it, people – what made Paris Hilton famous? That she’s an ok-looking rich girl? No; what made her famous was a sex tape of hers appearing on the internet. The only difference between this incident and the Hilton incident is that Ms. Hilton is a media-hound who didn’t care how she got in to the spotlight…Mr. Clementi, from accounts, was clearly a much more private and retiring young man.

Don’t pretend that if you drop a ton of bricks on the two young men who made the tape that you have solved the problem. Don’t even think that if they go to jail you have secured justice. You have done neither – and, in fact, you might even be compounding the problem because sending them to jail might eventually create sympathy for them…and there will be, of course the pre- and post-incarceration interviews on television. If you want to do anything about this – if you want to honor Mr. Clementi’s memory – then your task is much more direct, but far more difficult: start working to instill a renewed sense of the decent and indecent in our society.

It is indecent to broadcast sex tapes. Not just secretly taped sex acts, but any at all. It is indecent to welcome in to society those who are sexual beasts (ie, those who serially cheat on their wives, or who go through a regular slew of lovers without ever making a promise). It is indecent to allow children to be regularly exposed to all sorts of sexual imagery and suggestion in popular culture. It is indecent to have sex in a place not your own (the whole tragedy here would have been averted if they had actually gone to a private place to do a private act…the dorm room shared with others is not in any way, shape or form private…and I’m pretty sure any conviction for invasion of privacy will be voided on those grounds). A whole string of indecent things will have to be stopped – and if we do this, then we’ll have a much stronger assurance that never again will an 18 year old boy kill himself over it.

The lesson here is for us to really start thinking things over. We can’t allow the flash of the media narrative to deflect us from the truth, nor our responsibilities towards it. For far too long we have been distracted by secondary issues while the crucial needs of our society have been ignored. It is time to go back to a time of public decency, and it is my hope that in this horrible event, we’ll find the will to at least learn the truth.

Another Massachusetts Dem in Trouble?

According to Bill Hudak, GOP candidate in the MA-06, there is. Via Red Mass Group:

Bill Hudak, candidate for U.S. Congress in the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District, announced today that a new poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies showed the race tightening considerably, with Hudak leading among Independent voters by 41% to 40% and trailing Congressman John Tierney by only 7 points (39% Hudak vs. 46% Tierney) among high interest likely voters. Additionally, the poll finds John Tierney’s “re-elect” number at only 38 percent…

Want to help Hudak? Then go to his website.

The key to a massive GOP victory is now revolving around just how much publicity we can give to the GOP challengers. The more people know of and about them, the better their chances of ousting incumbent Democrats. Spread the word, donate, volunteer – we can turn November 2nd in to the Democrats’ worst nightmare.

Trust me on this one, good people, no one thought that a month out from election day we’d be working to boost our chances in Massachusetts.

Is Feingold Doomed?

Per Rasmussen, he might be:

Republican Ron Johnson now leads incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold by 12 points in Wisconsin’s race for the U.S. Senate.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Johnson picking up 54% support, while Feingold, who is running for his fourth term in the Senate, gets 42% of the vote with leaners included…

A crushing loss by Feingold would be a harbinger of complete disaster for the Democrats. If someone as entrenched in a blue State as Feingold is getting clobbered, then the only Democrats who can feel really safe are those lucky enough to be un-opposed on November 2nd.

And it will be good-riddance if we do see the last of Feingold. Sure, he puts on a populist act, but all he’s ever done through his career is defend the Ruling Class, especially through his un-American efforts to limit public debate via “campaign finance reform”.

Obama Finds Jesus… In Public Opinion Polls

If you saw the video clip of Obama responding to a question about being Christian, you could tell, despite the obvious roll out of prepared talking points on the subject, that Obama really struggled to answer the question convincingly and honestly.

Should Barack Obama turn out to be a one-term president, students of his presidency who attempt to explain his fate will cite high among their reasons for the president’s downfall his insistence on being too clever by a half. No better example of this process at work could be found than in Obama’s answer yesterday to the obviously planted question, “Why are you a Christian?”

For weeks, pundits had been reassuring us, based on off-the-record tips from White House sources, that we should expect visual and other reassurances that Obama was a Christian and not a Muslim, as 18 percent of the public purportedly believed him to be. For weeks, we were told, we would start seeing visuals of the president and his family going to church.

That they produced. But the stills proved just the appetizer. The president rolled out the full course meal at what was billed as a “backyard chat” with a group of carefully selected “ordinary Americans.” (How does one get to be one of those?) In his well-delivered, eloquent, and obviously rehearsed remarks, Obama, always better at playing the politician than at being president, touched all the bases. He stated that he was a “Christian by choice.”

This is a rather pathetic attempt to deal with his “religion problem’ because of the clear political calculation behind this and his recent churchgoing, in the last weeks before the midterm elections.

George W. Bush was a genuine God-fearing man who always did what he thought was was right because it was the right thing to do. Even when faced with controversial decisions, he stood on a firm moral foundation that was structural sound. To the contrary, Obama is using religion as a means to a political end… to improve his own image in the polls. I don’t believe Obama is a God-fearing man. He’s too narcissistic to have a true fear of God’s judgment.
