Obamunism! Food Inflation Starts to Hurt

From Zero Hedge:

Somehow even as all that deflation in home prices continues, like perfectly joined communicating vessels, countervailing inflation continues seeping into pretty much every other aspect of society. But don’t take our word for it, (or even gold’s, which is just under all time record notional highs): according to Rasmussen, “Americans nationwide continue to lose faith in the Federal Reserve Board to keep inflation under control, with the number who say they are paying more for groceries now at an all-time high.” Specifically, “93% of adults report paying more for groceries now than they did a year ago, the highest finding to date…

I still tend to agree with those who hold we are in a long-term, deflationary trend…but this doesn’t mean we can’t have short-term, inflationary spikes…like we’re having right now.  While oil prices have tumbled from their highs of the Spring, the fact remains that gasoline prices are still significantly higher than they were a year ago…and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I get sticker shock when I go grocery shopping.

All of this inflation is the result of Bernanke printing up money.  Remember, he did this so that he would have the money necessary to bail out the banksters – and all the money printing works out to picking your pocket.  The dollars you have, you see?, are now worth less…but those with things of actual value to sell simply cannot take less than fair value for their goods.  If they did, then they’d go out of business.  This means that everyone with things of real value to sell (gasoline or food, for instance) must charge more.  This isn’t price-gouging as liberal class-warfare talking points would have it…it is a logical, reasonable response to events.  In this case, the deliberate devaluing of our currency by our central bank in order that very rich people who run very large financial institutions shall not feel pain.

This is the final price of liberalism – our money being stolen by an agency of government so those most closely connected to government can be bailed out.  Bernanke bailed out the banks, Obama/Pelosi/Reid bailed out the unions…they were looking out for their own, and the rest of us got screwed in the process.  The cure is to end the relationship – and the primary means of doing that is to kill off Big Government, so that no corporation or union can, by manipulating government, gain the power to loot the people of their hard-earned wealth.

    2. U.S. Military Loses $360 Million To Afghanistan Insurgents, Criminals—-After examining hundreds of combat support and reconstruction contracts in Afghanistan, the U.S military estimates $360 million in U.S. tax dollars has ended up in the hands of people the American-led coalition has spent nearly a decade battling: the Taliban, criminals, and power brokers with ties to both.

You see when the US “loses money” it needs to print more of it. How hard is that to figure out.

      The Bernanke printed trillions.

The 360 million lost in Astan cuased the feds to print up anywhere from 500 billion to 1 trillion in new cash?
    Wow, talk about inflation.

hey!! we still got that spendulus going, no problem!!!

Last year, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn announced the city had won a coveted $20 million federal grant to invest in weatherization. The unglamorous work of insulating crawl spaces and attics had emerged as a silver bullet in a bleak economy – able to create jobs and shrink carbon footprint – and the announcement came with great fanfare.

McGinn had joined Vice President Joe Biden in the White House to make it. It came on the eve of Earth Day. It had heady goals: creating 2,000 living-wage jobs in Seattle and retrofitting 2,000 homes in poorer neighborhoods.

But more than a year later, Seattle’s numbers are lackluster. As of last week, only three homes had been retrofitted and just 14 new jobs have emerged from the program. Many of the jobs are administrative, and not the entry-level pathways once dreamed of for low-income workers. Some people wonder if the original goals are now achievable.

    • Green Mountain Boy August 17, 2011 / 12:02 pm

Hey thats only 1.4 million per job. Quite a bargain these days.

  4. Sunny August 17, 2011 / 12:08 pm

That darn Obama caused the drouts and floods in the farming states that produce most of the US food supply. And is submit it did it on purpose so food prices would go higher. And on top of that, he is letting China buy more US food products. I think he is even responsible for the rise in gas prices. That darn Obama – everything is his fault!

    • tiredoflibbs August 17, 2011 / 12:16 pm

Why am I not surprised that dreggs fell for the “bad luck” talking points coming out of the White House for the reason for the nation’s and the economy’s ills?

Once a mindless, useful idiot drone…..

    • Green Mountain Boy August 17, 2011 / 12:21 pm

You are right. The poor fella has just had a run of bad luck. He needs a vacation to soothe his battered soul. Or perhaps a golf outing would cheer him up. Maybe buy a new toy or two. A couple of tricked out buses comes to mind. Think of how much fun rolling around the midwest would be in one of those!!

      • Sunny August 17, 2011 / 1:02 pm

GMB, you do realize that one bus is for the President (who happens to be a Democrat) and the other bus is for the Republican presidentail candidate? And it was the Secrect Service that ordered the buses – not that darned ol’ Obama. He is just wasting your tax payers dollars by riding the bus – never mind that he has had more death threats than anyother president.

      • Saul Sooth, Research Sockpuppet August 17, 2011 / 4:43 pm

        Because the Lefties always repeat this lie about Obama death Threats;

CNN’s Sanchez retracts his claim of a 400 percent increase in presidential death threats

    • Sunny August 17, 2011 / 1:07 pm

Did I miss something this spring and summer? Were the reports of floods in the midwest fake? That thousands of acres of farm land were rendered usless for the farmers for their spring planting? And did the weather bureau lie about sever drought in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas? The states that raise the bulk of wheat in the US. I guess the reports that ranchers and farmers sold thousands of head of cattle this spring and summer because lack of pasture land and crops to feed their animals this winter. Lets not look at facts – that really has a negative impact on the far right’s constant “its Obama’s fault” memes. I am sure that these FACTS have had NO impact on the cost of food products.

      • Luckee August 17, 2011 / 1:13 pm

Are you saying that drought in three states and floods in other states are why the cost of gold and gas are going up?

If “thousands of head of cattle this spring and summer” were dumped on the market then why are cattle prices still so high?

Is the supply of food the only factor in inflation?

Are there books and movies about killing Obama? What is your source for your claim that he has received more death threats than any other president?

      • Green Mountain Boy August 17, 2011 / 1:35 pm

Awwwww…poor bam bam..such a delicate soul. Makes fun of Sarah P for taking a bus ride at her own expense…then goes and does the same thing….on the tax payer dime.
Maybe a new putter would cheer him up????

      • Bobby Hebb, Supercilious Singning Sockpuppet August 17, 2011 / 2:12 pm

i read your pathetic charge that Inflation don’t include the food products from the floods or draughts “the measure, called core wholesale inflation, excludes volatile food and energy prices. it surged 0.4 percent last month.” the president don’t have to truthfully explain his control of the weather any more than we have to explain how we just know that hes received more death threats, more “bad luck” than ne other president or that your complaints are racist or that the secret service bought a $1.1 million bus for the rethuglican candidate. FACTS? We don’t need to give you no stinking facts! we got OBAMA! You got Cheney, so HA!
how pathetic are you all that you can’t understand that our presidential messiah only controls the weather when it suits him, and he doesn’t control his administration or what they buy unless he wants to.

        Media Stifling Racial Violence Coverage
        By John T. Bennett

Race matters if we want to understand the current wave of racial mob violence. Flash mobs have a lot of people talking, no thanks to PC journalists who have refused all along to help us understand this emerging social problem.

For those who care about language and the truth, Mary Schmich of the Chicago Tribune has done a great service. She openly admits that her newspaper refuses to report the race of violent criminals responsible for an outbreak of racial mob violence in Chicago, which mirrors similar violence around the country. So Schmich has proven the old adage that you don’t need to muzzle sheep.

  7. Sunny August 18, 2011 / 9:43 am

I know – food prices are still Obama’s fault.

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) – The historic Texas drought that has parched most of the state throughout the summer has caused $5.2 billion in losses to agriculture, making it the most destructive drought in the state’s history, agriculture officials said on Wednesday.

They called the damage estimate “conservative,” but it still surpassed by more than $1 billion the losses reported in a 2006 drought that had set state records at $4.1 billion.

      • Sunny August 18, 2011 / 11:45 am

Well Bobby Boy, I didn’t think Texas wanted any stinkin help for the government – the government needs to shrink, get out of the way and let the states manage their own business. So what is it? Do they want government help or not? You have a new cowboy (at least he really does own cattle and knows how to ride a horse) on the horizion who wanted to seceed from the union just a year or so ago, and God know’s he loves American more than Obama – and wants a little involvement from the feds as possible.(http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/08/jon-stewarts-epic-rant-of-what-rick-perry-would-do-to-the-america-hes-in-love-with-video.php?ref=fpb ) Obama is apparently just respecting the wishes of good ole boy Governor Perry.

      • Sunny August 18, 2011 / 1:22 pm

whaa whaa whaa – cry baby. I live with myself just fine b/c I did not lie.

      • Bobby Hebb August 18, 2011 / 1:33 pm

Then Texas didn’t ask for aid? Draught causes the price of gold to go up? Obama has more death threats than any other president?

That’s just three of your lies from this thread alone Velma. You are either a conscious liar, or a blithering imbecilic.

I think it’s some from Column A and some from Column B

      • Bobby Hebb August 18, 2011 / 1:36 pm

Oh, and the CIA bought a bus for the Republican candidate! You are a serial liar.

      • Sparkly August 19, 2011 / 10:45 am

Sunny also lies when she says Perry wanted Texas to secede from the union.

She lies and lies and lies.

      • Amazama (Sorry, I couldn't resist) August 19, 2011 / 12:25 pm

        Too many lies to catch.

    • Sunny August 18, 2011 / 1:08 pm

My point exactly Bobby Boy. Out of one side of his mouth Perry complains that the government is too big and needs to stay out of the states business. He is going to make the federal government so small we will not even know it exists anymore if he is elected president. Even talks seccession from the union. UNTIL they have a natural disaster – then he talks out of the other side of his mouth and wants the federal government to come in and save his sorry butt. I would call that flip flopping, wouldn’t you? The last thing this country needs is another swaggering Texan know it all with his stupid talk of treason. George Bush on steriods! No thank you. Ron Paul would be a better president than Perry.

Maybe Perry could ask the Koch brothers to come to Texas to help out. I am sure that Perry and the Koch’s have been in bed together for yers. Don’t need no stinkin federal government!

      • Bobby Hebb August 18, 2011 / 1:18 pm

So when confronted with your lie you create a strawman? You’ve yet to prove any of your absurd contentions, just change the subject and you’re off on another hate-filled rant.

That’s real Nice Velma, does that ever work?

      • Bobby Hebb August 18, 2011 / 2:00 pm

And here’s why you lie; you lie because your paramour lies.

Three significant historical events have been eclipsed by Obama: 1) Jimmy Carter will no longer be looked upon as the worst president in American history; 2) Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton will no longer be recognized as the greatest liars in presidential history; 3) Clinton’s stain on Monica’s dress, and what that did to White House in general and the office of the president specifically, will forever pale in comparison to the stain and stench of Obama.

I need not spend much time on the failure of Obama as president. His tenure has been a failure on every measurable level. So much so, in fact, that some of the staunchest, most respected liberal Democrats and Democratic supporters have not only openly criticized him “some even more harshly than this essayist” but they have called for him to step down.

Richard Nixon’s words “I am not a crook,” punctuated with his involvement in Watergate, and Bill Clinton’s finger-wagging as he told one of the most pathetic lies in presidential history, in the aftermath of Obama, will be viewed as mere prevarications.

Mr. Nixon and Clinton lied to save their backsides. Although, I would argue there are no plausible explanations for doing what they did, I could entertain arguments pursuant to understanding their rationales for lying. But in the case of Obama, he lies because he is a liar. He doesn’t only lie to cover his misdeeds ~he lies to get his way. He lies to belittle others and to make himself look presentable at their expense. He lies about his faith, his associations, his mother, his father and his wife. He lies and bullies to keep his background secret. His lying is congenital and compounded by socio-psychological factors of his life.

Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader. He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood.

As the stock markets were crashing, taking with them the remaining life saving of untold tens of thousands, Obama was hosting his own birthday celebration, which was an event of epicurean splendidness. The shamelessness of the event was that it was not a state dinner to welcome foreign dignitaries, nor was it to honor an American accomplishment it was to honor the Pharaoh, Barack Hussein Obama. The event’s sole purpose was for the Pharaoh to have his loyal subjects swill wine, indulge in gluttony and behavior unfit to take place on the property of taxpayers, as they suffer. It was of a magnitude comparable to that of Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski’s $2 million birthday extravaganza for its pure lack of respect for the people.

Permit me to digress momentarily. The U.S. Capitol and the White House were built with the intent of bringing awe and respect to America and her people. They were also built with the intent of being the greatest of equalizers. I can tell you, having personally been to both, there is a moment of awe and humility associated with being in the presence of the history of those buildings. They are to be honored and inscribed into our national psyche, not treated as a Saturday night house party at Chicago’s Cabrini-Green.

The people of America own that home Obama and his wife continue to debase with their pan-ghetto behavior. It is clear that Obama and family view themselves as royalty, but they’re not. They are employees of “we the people,” who are suffering because of his failed policies. What message does this behavior send to those who today are suffering as never before?

What message does it send to all Americans who are struggling? Has anyone stopped to think what the stock market downturn forebodes for those 80 million baby boomers who will be retiring in the next period of years? Is there a snowball’s chance in the Sahara that every news program on the air would applaud this behavior if it were George W. Bush? To that point, do you remember the media thrashing Bush took for having a barbecue at the White House?

Like Nero “who was only slightly less debaucherous than Caligula” with wine on his lips Obama treated “we the people” the way Caligula treated those over whom he lorded.

Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement while America’s people go homeless, hungry and unemployed.

Sunny does not just lie. Sunny is stupid. The facts are there about the lies that Perry wanted Texas to secede and why he turned down the fake stimulus money but she is happier when she can just lie and lie and lie and she is too stupid to realize that the truth proves her to be a liar.
