Stupid Liberals

They are everywhere – a few examples:

The Obama administration is refusing to discuss reports that emerged early Thursday claiming that the White House is considering imposing sanctions on Israel for continuing construction on Jewish homes in Jerusalem.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf dodged several questions on Thursday when confronted with reports that the administration had held secret internal meetings to discuss taking action against Israel for its ongoing building in East Jerusalem…

And then this:

Rolling Stone has gotten a lot of publicity recently with a sensational article about a rape in 2012 at the University of Virginia, written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely and featuring some harrowing and disturbing details. The victim was identified only as “Jackie.”

Almost as soon as the story was published, doubts arose about its veracity, or at least about the journalistic standards of its author, who did not manage to interview the alleged perpetrators even though it would seem there were ways to have contacted them. Even worse, Erdely hasn’t been forthcoming about the extent of her efforts to find them, and did not include any mention of any of her efforts or failures in the article.

I’ve read many articles pro and con, including of course the original Rolling Stone piece in question (warning: it’s long), and I’ve got my own opinion, which is that not only did Erdely demonstrate abysmal journalistic standards, but that the story itself is quite possibly a fabrication by the alleged victim…

And then, this:

When asked about Mubarak’s exoneration, State Department Spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki offered a rambling non-answer which did not fool the diplomatic press corps one bit. When Associated Press reporter Matt Lee called Psaki out for essentially saying “nothing,” Psaki gave it another try.

“Generally, we continue to believe that upholding impartial standards of accountability will advance the political consensus on which Egypt’s long-term stability and economic growth depends,” she said. “I don’t have any more specifics on this.”…

And,finally, this:

But she also told the audience that the world still has a long way to go in terms women’s participation.

Of the hundreds of peace treaties signed since the early 1990s, between or within nations, she said fewer than 10 percent had any female negotiators and fewer than 3 percent had women as signatories.

“Is it any wonder that many of these agreements fail between [sic] a few years?” Clinton asked.

So, we’ll lift sanctions on Iran even though, as just one for-instance, they hang people for being gay, but we’ll mull placing sanctions on Israel because they’ll build a house. Meanwhile, over in race-and-gender-war-land, we’ll write an article full of details but won’t include any proof the event in question happened. Over at State we’ll mouth some meaningless words and at the end of the verbal spew which contained nothing specific, we’ll say we don’t have any further specifics (in defense of the State Department flack, she was later caught on a hot mike admitting that her statement was worthless). And to top it all off, we’ve got the putative next President of the United States asserting that only if a few more women had signed the treaties, wars and calamities would have been prevented.

Why, when Hillary made her absurd statement, did the audience not immediately laugh in scorn, walk out and announce their support for Elizabeth Warren in 2016? When the article for the Rolling Stone went up to the editors, why didn’t even one of them ask, “you got any facts to back this up?”. The reason for those two bits of stupidity – and all other liberal stupidity we see these says – is that they didn’t dare. You see, to hold Hillary in utter contempt for her stupid statement is forbidden to liberals – such an act would do the worst thing possible: confirm that the liberal narrative is wrong. Similarly, when the Rolling Stone story hit the editor’s desk, there was no chance such a question would be asked: merely to ask such a question would indicate a disbelief in liberal ideology about what goes on at elite universities vis a vis women.

If you ever thought that at some point liberals, as such, could become sensible then just give that thought up – the only way they can is by switching all the way over to conservative. To be a liberal in 2014 requires belief in not just a series of lies, but in a series of very stupid lies – and my guess is that the enforcers of thought on the left want it this way: the more absurd beliefs they can enforce, the more firm their control – after all, to switch from being liberal in 2014 not only requires you to change your beliefs, but to admit you believed things which anyone with an IQ of 80 could see were stupid lies. Just do the mental exercise yourself for a few minutes and think of all the admissions of being a sucker a liberal would have to make by switching to conservatism…and how much fear of humiliation that carries along with it. Better for most to just brazen it out: “Ok, so I believe a lot of stupid stuff: but I can’t admit it or I’ll have to admit I was a fool so I’ll just keep going! Hey, conservatives, if women signed treaties there would be less war!”.

To me, its all rather sad – and yet another reason to work hard to get these people away from the levers of power. Who knows what the opinion enforcers of the left will force their minions to believe next…

UPDATE: Huge amount of comment today around the interwebs regarding the Rolling Stone article…a bunch of “how could this have happened”. Seriously? People gotta ask how an MSM outfit could have allowed a falsehood to get published? Look, my friends, when it comes to reports which advance the liberal agenda – especially in areas of race, gender and class – assume every one of them is a lie…if not an outright fabrication, then at the least a severe twisting of the facts to fit the liberal narrative. Dishonesty in liberalism isn’t a bug, its a feature.

But, you say that you know honest liberals? Sure. Bet you do. But where the rubber hits the road, that won’t matter all that much. Think about it – you’re at the editorial meeting and the UVA story comes up for review. To question the story – which supports the liberal narrative – would be highly dangerous. Even if you proved to all and sundry that it shouldn’t be run, you’ll anger the more hard core leftists whom you work with – and who might have charge of your employment prospects. Meanwhile, if you let it all slide, 90%+ of the time no one is ever seriously called out for falsehoods. Much easier to go along to get along, even if you want to be honest…the hard core lefists didn’t care, don’t care and never will care if the UVA story is true: what matters to them is that it must be true because that is what leftism demands; even if the particular details of this story are false – even if you can never find an actual, demonstrable example of that sort of thing going on (and, remember, the contention of the story is that the horrific action described is endemic to the culture of UVA…that the student body of that school knowingly and callously does this horrible thing as if they believed it to be a good thing) – the overall story is true: because those who in any way adhere to any institution not on the side of the left are just like that in the view of the left…rat bastards who kill, steal, pollute and oppress just for the sheer fun of being evil. Anything which attacks non-left institutions is thus good and true, even if false in actual fact.

What in the world are Liberals ever going to do if, God forbid, they end up having to put their lives on the line to defend what they believe?

    • J. R. Babcock (@JRBabcock) December 6, 2014 / 10:12 am

Laying their lives on the line for nitwittery isn’t any more stupid than anything else they do.

Can’t get much more stupid than this.

The Ivy League professor suggested that “treason to whiteness” is a necessary step to salvage humanity.

“There’s still a slender minority of white folks, a very slender, but a slender minority of white folks, that are ready to commit race suicide,” Rickford told the audience, near the end of his remarks. “Which is to say, they are ready to reject corrupt skin privileges. They’re ready to perform treason to whiteness, as an expression of their loyalty to humanity.”

I’ve been growing more and more irritated by the amount of stupidity we have to put up with. I mean, I’m really tired of it – I’m tired of having to work a debate around liberals because I’m tired of having to try to tailor my statements to a set of parameters which are false. I don’t want to just say, “you’re stupid” to liberals…so, I’ve got to find a way to demonstrate the stupidity of liberal views and then immediately get on to rational statements of policy.

This is a direct result of the “Dumbing Down” of America that can be traced back to the Wilson administration as well as other Progressives with an additional assault from the former Soviet Union. So far–they have been successful and it will take generations to truly recover.

Yep – we can only hope, in our time, to start the restoration of our civilization.

    “Stupid Liberals”

You could have stopped right there Mark. Speaking of stupid, I present Hillary Clinton on foreign policy:

“leaving no one on the sidelines, showing respect even for one’s enemies, trying to understand and insofar as psychologically possible, empathize with their perspective and point of view.”

In other words, Hillary thinks we should employ “smart power” which includes having a better understanding of why Islamists want to stone women to death. Good grief, I am no longer humored by Progressivism. The banality of their existence has really become annoying.

Yep – and part of the same, stupid statement! We should empathize with them and have women sign the treaties and all will be well…ok, so send a bunch of empathetic women to sign a treaty with ISIS and we’ll see how that goes…

      • Retired Spook December 5, 2014 / 11:18 pm

so send a bunch of empathetic women to sign a treaty with ISIS and we’ll see how that goes…

It WOULD be a great way to get rid of a bunch of stupid, liberal women. No great loss in the overall scheme of things.

      • M. Noonan December 5, 2014 / 11:29 pm

The question to be asked of Hillary is if she’d be willing to negotiate the treaty with ISIS…and would she just want to go with a bunch of other empathetic women, or perhaps with a regiment of Marines? You pick, Madam Secretary…

Speaking of stupid liberals. I took a peek over at the dark side and found this:

Left unsaid are the innumerable ways this country is better off under Obama (who is hardly the definition of a raving liberal) than it was during the previous 8 years of conservative rule. In Noonan’s defense, it must suck to witness a Democratic President doing a fair job of mopping up the smoldering mess their Republican POTUS left behind.

Considering that 67% of respondents in a Real Clear Politics say that the country is headed in the wrong direction, we’ll just say that this liberal is definitely in the minority. Although his “blame Bush” comment at the end will score him some points. And then there is this gem re: the ACA:

it will also go down as one of the most “shockingly” effective pieces of legislation that has helped a great number of Americans.

Well it is shocking – that he got right. Shocking how deceptive it was that is, according to that guru Jonathan Gruber. And you would think if it was as effective and as helpful as he claims it is, voters would have rewarded those representatives who passed it. But alas, those legislators are now working elsewhere.

I will give this liberal credit for loyalty however for sticking with the sinking ship when other liberal rats are having the sense to jump off.

Would that they would all go down with the ship.

The hard core of the left can’t abandon him – they’d have to admit to too much folly if they did.

    Examples of liberal stupidity abound.

It’s no secret that several large U.S. corporations supported Obamacare’s passage in 2010 because they viewed the law as a way to help them cut costs and improve their bottom lines. But now, some of those big business backers are having second thoughts…because of federal lawsuits targeting corporate wellness programs (link is external):

A bipartisan provision in the 2010 healthcare reform law allows employers to reward workers who participate and penalize those who don’t.

But recent lawsuits filed by the administration’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), challenging the programs at Honeywell International and two smaller companies, have thrown the future of that part of Obamacare into doubt.

The lawsuits infuriated some large employers so much that they are considering aligning themselves with Obama’s opponents, according to people familiar with the executives’ thinking.

“The fact that the EEOC sued is shocking to our members,” said Maria Ghazal, vice-president and counsel at the Business Roundtable, a group of chief executives of more than 200 large U.S. corporations. “They don’t understand why a plan in compliance with the ACA (Affordable Care Act) is the target of a lawsuit,” she said. “This is a major issue to our members.”

Another case of “we told you so?” Perhaps. These lawsuits are grounded in another federal law that is supposed to ban workplace discrimination against the disabled. So it may be more like a “Catch-22”:

One of the arguments presented in the lawsuit against three employers is that requiring medical testing violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.

That 1990 law, according to employment-law attorney Joseph Lazzarotti of Jackson Lewis P.C. in Morristown, N.J., largely prohibits requiring medical tests as part of employment.

“You can’t make medical inquiries unless it’s consistent with job-necessity, or part of a voluntary wellness program,” he said.

The lawsuits are based on the view that it is no longer voluntary if employees face up to $4,000 in penalties for non-participation, loss of insurance or even their jobs.

Excellent analysis of another bit of liberal stupidity — or, at the very least, liberal shortsightedness.

So if Democrats want to win back the white working class — and they kind of need to, if they want to win elections, because it’s an enormous demographic (link is external) — maybe they need to start thinking about honoring and encouraging work, rather than talking about race or class. One person who has some ideas in this direction is Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (link is external), who suggests that the government invest heavily in infrastructure, which would create a lot of blue-collar jobs.

That was actually an original part of Barack Obama’s stimulus plan, but it was derailed by feminists (link is external) within the Obama coalition who thought it would produce too many jobs for men. Christina Romer, then-chair (link is external) of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, reported (link is external): “The very first email I got … was from a women’s group saying ‘We don’t want this stimulus package to just create jobs for burly men.’ ”

Well, if you’re offended by jobs for burly men, you probably won’t do well with working-class men, or with the working-class women who are often married to burly men. And, as Joel Kotkin notes (link is external), many other Obama policies — promoting urban density, which creates fewer construction jobs; fighting oil and coal extraction, thus targeting industries that create high-paying blue collar jobs; and even opening up immigration, which drives down wages for the working class — all seem designed to punish people who work for a living, even as expanded benefits for the poor seem designed to reward people who draw government checks for a living.

Out going Senator Saxby Chambliss was interviewed last night and he said he was profoundly disappointed with this president’s lack of economic understanding. Obama has never met a payroll and to this day, after six years in office, has no practical understanding of how business’s operate, how jobs are created or how negatively regulations can impact business cycles and decisions.

It’s amazing and actually sad that there are people who still defend him, and even more amazing that someone like Elizabeth Warren, an Obama colleague of the Harvard faculty lounge and someone who is equally ignorant on economics, is actually gaining traction for POTUS in Progressive Democratic circles.

      • Retired Spook December 6, 2014 / 12:33 pm

and to this day, after six years in office, has no practical understanding of how business’s operate, how jobs are created or how negatively regulations can impact business cycles and decisions.

How could he? He’s surrounded himself with people who are just as clueless as he is. No other president is even close in having as few people without private sector experience in high level positions.

    • M. Noonan December 6, 2014 / 1:22 pm

And in case you’re wondering why we’re spending trillions and not getting Moon shots and Golden Gate Bridges, there ya go – the money isn’t being spent on such things. As ineffective as public works are in actual economic growth, they are at least worth while…but they have no upside for a Ruling Class which is either in bureaucracies or in high finance. They simply don’t care about the life of the regular folks…

      • Retired Spook December 6, 2014 / 1:24 pm

They simply don’t care about the life of the regular folks…

        Well, except for their votes.

      • M. Noonan December 6, 2014 / 1:54 pm

I’m not so sure they care about their votes – they are figuring that college-educated, unemployed youth, African-Americans, single females and Latinos will give them a permanent majority. They might be right – but, then again, they might not be. 2016 will provide the answer…

      • Cluster December 6, 2014 / 6:24 pm

They will always get the votes of small minded, economically ignorant, religious bigoted people who believe in dividing Americans for political gain. The liberal I quoted earlier is a good example. In the last 6 years, the Democrats have divided Americans along almost every single possible line; ethnic, class, gender, etc.

  7. Amazona December 7, 2014 / 10:52 am

I think there is no more vivid example of the stupidity of the Left than the “hands up don’t shoot” meme that they have promoted. Every time someone makes that hands-up gesture what he is really saying is “Look how stupid I am”.

If it had come out in the first couple of days following the Brown shooting, it might have been at least partially excused as hysteria and foolishness and ignorance, but coming as it has after the grand jury decision and the release of so much evidence and information, it is inexcusable and nothing more than a statement of stupidity.

What is most disturbing, however, is that it seems to be coming from black people, including those moronic Rams and some frighteningly stupid Congressmen. That is sad, and it is also having the effect of supporting old-style racist attitudes that black people are less intelligent than people of other races. I know the stupidity is the result of culture, not skin color, but when we are treated to day after day of video of black people acting like savages, looting and burning and making the most profoundly stupid comments imaginable it is hard to separate those actions from skin color and remember that they are the result of the cultural segregation and divide-and-conquer strategy of the Left and not really attributable to race itself.

The Left is brilliant in its application of cultural divisiveness, whether it is class warfare or the newly developed racial divide made so easy to promulgate with the elevation of hard-core racists to the highest offices in the land, including the White House and the “Justice” Department, where blatant calls for racial hatred carry with them the stamp of validation from the President himself. What is most disturbing is not just the development and validation of black hatred toward whites, it is the accompanying and inevitable impression that black people are less civilized and less intelligent and less rational. The damage done to race relations in this country, and especially to black people, is devastating and may take centuries to overcome.

Old racist attitudes toward black people, seeing them as inferior, were based on the fact that for so long in this country blacks had inferior status, as slaves, and were often uneducated, Those stereotypes were being erased as black people became educated and successful, and showed themselves to be equal to other races when given equal opportunity. But now we are seeing black people in this country, after more than a century free of slavery, with the opportunity to show themselves as equal in intelligence, reason and humanity, acting like primitive savages and clinging to any excuse, no matter how frivolous or ridiculous, to spew hatred, while showcasing a lack of intelligence that has to reflect badly on them as a race. We are seeing black people whose accomplishments should be proving that skin color is unrelated to intelligence or talent or ambition suddenly proving that race trumps reason, and sending the message that skin color will always define them. Worse, define them as less intelligent and less rational.

As for the spineless front office of the Rams, Rush Limbaugh made a good point about their gutless refusal to address the issue of the Rams players acting out this stupidity and hatefulness on the field:

“Do Rams players have the First Amendment right to pray on the field? Do Rams players have the right to do the slit-the-throat gesture after a sack or tackle? No. Do Rams players have the right to celebrate two players at the same time in the end zone after a touchdown? No. It is verboten. One guy can celebrate, but if another player or series of players joins the other player celebrating, it’s a flag. “ But five players can engage in inciting hatred and possibly violence, while in uniform, on the field at the beginning of a game, while showcasing utter stupidity, and this is allowed. Why? I have to assume that this is due to fear of alienating black fans and viewers by applying the same standards to black players using their positions and uniforms to make what they seem to think is a political statement, but it is craven cowardice and lack of integrity.

On another note, has anyone else noticed that in liberal circles, campus rape is the new abortion? I guess they need a new meme considering that their “war on women” as it relates specifically to abortion has all but collapsed.
