Some Thoughts on the Left

What we’re dealing with in the Left is a few things, all mixed together in a bad way.

First and foremost, the Long Peace. Even though we’ve engaged in near-continuous warfare since 1941, the American people haven’t really felt the affects of war save for the 9/11 attacks, which were limited in area affected. Our homes have not been bombed; our women and children murdered; our farms and factories destroyed, by foreign invaders. All of us are, to a certain extent, a bit blind to the some times cruel realities of the world. But the people of the left have plain forgotten that the barbarians are right out there, waiting for their chance, and only eternal vigilance keeps us safe.

Secondly, the gigantic prosperity of the United States. This not only means that Americans don’t know real want – real privation – but we actually have so much extra wealth lying around that we can support millions who do nothing and many more millions who do nothing useful. When you look at leftists, you’ll find a gigantic portion of them either work in fields where concrete results are not expected, or don’t work at all. Sure, you can find some who do work…but usually on the lower end of the leftist movement and almost always as union workers who think that the left still cares about working people (and I think that more and more such people are becoming disillusioned with the left; I’m not talking about government employees, but people like those in the SEIU). We’re so rich that we can afford massive waste – especially the sort of waste which essentially pays the left to tear down our civilization. But, trouble is, you know when you’re doing something useful and when you’re not. A plumber comes home at the end of the day knowing he fixed some leaking pipes…but what does a Gender Studies Professor think about at the end of the day? “I wrote another screed against the Patriarchy!”? People who don’t do useful things, tend to get defensive and want to justify themselves…getting mad and hateful is the easiest way to do so.

Third, we’re in a moral crisis in this nation. Remember the people who pushed to have us pass out condoms in middle school? They are the same people marching in the #MeToo movement. The left sold people on the idea of complete immorality (predicted, I should note, by Chesterton a century ago when he said the next great heresy would be an attack on morality, as such, and especially sexual morality) and when people tried to live immorally, they found out why the priests and philosophers had been saying for 2,000 years that you can’t do that. In short, people got suckered into living lives of hedonistic dissipation, found that it sucked, and then got mad about it…but without repenting what they had done. What we’re seeing is very often someone pissed off that they didn’t have a nice life after they lived like dogs in heat and they are blaming the elements of society which said, “don’t do that” for the failure of their experiment.

All of this has been mixed together and what we have are bitter, spiteful people who have become merciless, shameless liars. And I mean really shameless. Over the past couple days the accusations and insinuations against Kavanaugh have actually gotten worse. Avenatti’s accusations are now getting too tame for the left to pursue! By Wednesday, Georgetown Prep will probably be accused of holding demonic sex orgies…and the shameless liars of the left will just eat it up.

A bit ago a Twitter friend and I engaged – a moderate to the core, he was delighted that Flake had, supposedly, tried to cool things off. I pointed out that while Flake may, personally, be a good man, he promoted sheer evil by going along with the Democrats demand. And not just evil to us, but evil to the left, themselves. You see, by indulging them this way, we’re allowing them to get worse…and no decent human being should set up a situation where our fellow people are able to wallow in filth. We can’t stop such things, but we certainly must do all we can to limit them, if at all possible. Flake didn’t see his duty – and I don’t know if it was cowardice or stupidity which moved him, but it doesn’t really matter: the damage was done.

What we have to keep in mind is that we’re in a fight of Right v Wrong – there’s no compromise. Any concession we make from this point forward will merely be seized upon by the shameless liars to indulge in yet more shameless lying. Our duty to ourselves – and to them – is to stand firm and give them not an inch. We’re not like them – meaning, we’re not shameless liars; nor are we merciless – so we won’t do to them what they very much want to do to us, but we must do all we can to stop them and remove them from power. Only once they are completely bereft of power will some of them, at least, wake up from their nightmare, see what they have done, and repent. They could still remain liberals, but they’ll at least have learned not to be evil. And that is important. Being wrong is fine: we’re all wrong on some things, frequently…but as long as we’re not evil, we’re at least not subtracting from the overall civilization.

Stand firm. There is not much reason to engage them in debate (it just allows them more opportunity to shamelessly lie, after all) and work as hard as you can for your side. We have a real chance over the next two years to win a revolutionary amount of power. So much power that we can impose a settlement on the political debate (meaning, not that there won’t be debate, but that we’ll be back to where we were from 1865 to 1965: conducting our debates in an agreed framework and with a sense of fair play for each side). Or, perhaps, we’ll be the side which is crushed. So be it: but let’s not help them crush us.

I gradually got to the point during the Obama years where I rarely interacted with Leftists. I think the mindless comments of the Lefties who used to post here from the time I came in 2004 until a couple years ago had more than a little to do with my metamorphosis. The old adage, arguing with a liberal is like mud wrestling a pig…..was proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, over and over. I love to discuss ideas on how to improve (fill-in-the-blank), but Liberals can’t discuss ideas, because all they have are ideas that have never worked, and, in an imperfect society of human beings, will never work. I actually like to expose myself to new ideas; Liberals just don’t have any.

So true …… while I disagree with nearly everything Jeff Flake stands for, I know he is a decent guy and I could find common ground with him. Conservatives are practical, methodical and solution oriented so we will always look for improvement. Liberals on the other hand are so filled with a false sense of self superiority, misguided compassion, and unhinged hatred that it is impossible to even have a conversation with them let alone finding common ground.

In light of his actions the last year and a half or so I have some difficulty seeing this alleged decency.

So yesterday of course in the liberal media, the narrative was that Kavanaugh alienated women everywhere (because of course they all think the same according to liberals) ………. well I just saw this Facebook post from another woman who sadly did suffer real abuse:

    OPEN LETTER to Mrs. Ford,
Thank you Mrs. Ford for further damaging any woman that bears the true scars of sexual harassment, assault and rape! I am not quite sure of your motivation!?! I do see a million reasons why you would continue this charade (GoFundMe). Quite possibly, simply political? However, in this selfish effort, you have done permanent damage to this Country. You have tried to not only ruin a man’s life, along with his wife and precious children, you have forever changed the Rules of Engagement! This is a weight I dont believe you can bear. You have also ruined the lives of many, many woman who have ACTUALLY suffered at the hands of others, and the future victims that have yet to meet such fate. I know you dont have the strength to bear the weight of that. You, my dear, need to get on your knees and pray every day for the rest of your life for forgiveness. Every day someone will encounter a predator. Every encounter will be met with additional fear of scrutiny; you bear this weight. Can you ever in this life redeem yourself? I think not. But He knows the motivation of your heart. There’s a Special place in Hell reserved for those who bear false witness.
    Sincerely,
    Real women, real victims. #christineblaseyford #christineford #brettkavanaugh #istandwithbrett #falseallegations #survivor
This was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever written or said. But you have brought us here Mrs. Ford. And I won’t let you use the word, survivors and diminish its meaning.

That’s a powerful statement, and unfortunately, one that I believe the left will ignore or worse, use in a negative way. I pray for the true victims of crime, and hope the those who’ve perpetrated those crimes see the damage they committed and ask for God’s forgiveness.

    Just a thought on double-standards.

So, it’s not ok for a teenage girl to see a boy waving his penis in front of her at a high school party, but it is okay for a 9 year old girl to see a man’s penis in a public restroom? How does that even square?

  4. Jeremiah September 30, 2018 / 11:25 pm

    I agree, Mark.
However, I believe it’s wishful thinking to believe that Democrats will choose to not be evil in the future. They love evil, evil is their god, and they will do Satan’s bidding until the end, and they only reason they have any power at all is because of the generations of people who have been taught under their system of worldview. Somehow we must get that corrected.

Our 2016 election was a miracle…It was a miracle of God. I have no doubt in my mind. God was looking out for us, and moved in the hearts of millions. The benefits are evident. This doesn’t mean we are “safe” though, because there millions of evil people lying in the shadows, and working their evil quietly.

I would not be surprised if America votes for a Democrat majority in November (although, I hope that does not happen) however much I disagree with their choice, but it would not surprise me considering the educational background of those individuals. They love sex and therefore abortion and homosexuality. And, the number of these individuals increases with time….While those with decent, clean values decreases.

I think one way or the other we will either go into bondage, or we will fight against dictatorship by way of war. We don’t like to think about war, but I think the alternatives are much more troubling… Looking at your friends skeletal frame is a much more painful picture.

And yet another example of the disconnected reality liberals live in, this time courtesy of Barbara Boxer.

When asked to react, Boxer dismissed his comments as “more of his attack on women,” and added: “He can’t attack Dr. Ford. … So first he goes after Dianne Feinstein, now he goes after Elizabeth Warren. Who’s next? Melania? Who knows where he’s going to go.” She continued: “The man has no respect for women. He wants to put — the President — he wants to put women in jail if they get an abortion. Let’s be clear about what’s at stake.”

We really need a liberal to explain this to us, so maybe Casper or Fielding could chime in and bring some clarity to her statements. Are we talking minimum security prisons, or Super Max’s?

WRT the way the Left has been behaving, especially since Trump’s election, I think most Conservatives look at them and say, “I could never do to them what they do to us; decent people just don’t act that way. This is right out of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals — make your adversaries live up to their own rules. I know a lot of conservatives who are eventually going to break this rule, and that’s probably going to come as a surprise to most Liberals. If the blue wave doesn’t materialize next month, even if Republicans just hold ground, I think it’s going to embolden even more Conservatives to push back. Only 36 days.

So prosecutor Rachel Mitchell made this statement:

No reasonable prosecutor would bring sexual assault charges against Kavanaugh based on the public evidence …..

Isn’t this the exact statement James Comey gave in defense of Hillary Clinton? I think it is ….. so what? Case closed?

Color me shocked! Turns out the confrontation of Senator Flake in the elevator was a total set-up.

Ana Maria Archila and Maria Gallagher were the two women who confronted Flake inside the elevator. Perhaps because they expressed such raw emotion, few media outlets dug into their political activism. Archila is an executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy; she had spent the previous week in Washington engaged in protests against Kavanaugh. Gallagher is a 23-year-old activist with the group. The center is a left-wing group heavily funded by George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. Indeed, as of 2014, Open Society was one of the three largest donors to the group. (emphasis – mine)

Make no mistake. The Center for Popular Democracy is at the heart of the effort to stop Kavanaugh. A source forwarded to me an email sent from the organization: “Last week, you saw protestors interrupting the Kavanaugh hearings, trying to slow it down and show the Judiciary Committee how much they/we care. Those protests were organized by the Women’s March and the Center for Popular Democracy and other groups.”

Sounds like a book I may have to read.

The book also sheds interesting light on the much-debated question of identity politics. Trump has been accused of leading a movement of “white nationalism.” The Great Revolt provides no support for this slanderous charge. In exploring the minds of these voters, the question of race almost never arises. There are two notable exceptions. One white woman interviewed had adopted two African American children, both of whom had grown up to be United States Marines. Another expressed her disgust at being accused of racism for supporting Trump after she had twice voted for Barack Obama.

Democrat projection again …… remember when Pelosi called the Tea Party “astro turf” (a manufactured protest). How do you suppose Pelosi would characterize this?

  10. Retired Spook October 1, 2018 / 1:50 pm

Another home run from Kurt Schlichter. who doesn’t share Cluster’s view of Jeff Flake.

That simpering sap Jeff Flake – he’s the kind of guy who voted for Evan McMullin and still doesn’t regret it. It’s sad to see what was once allegedly a man be utterly emasculated in public and then proceed to dance to please his new masters. He ought to be, and henceforth shall be, known as Jeff! since he’s essentially Jeb! without the pedigree or – here’s the scary part – the spine. Yeah Jeff!, you’ll get your one-shot 60 Minutes tongue bath, and there’s probably a 3:00 a.m. Sunday MSNBC program in it for you, wedged between reruns of Lockup. A hosting gig for a crappy show on a doofus network is today’s equivalent of 30 pieces of silver.

    • M. Noonan October 1, 2018 / 10:01 pm

Not sure if it was in that piece, but I saw on Twitter a Kurt comment along the lines of “going along with the Democrats is like Ned Beatty asking the guys if they’d like to go on another canoe trip”.

  11. Cluster October 1, 2018 / 3:41 pm

Too funny – this from the Daily Caller with the caption “He. Went. There” (calling the media part of the Democrat party)

“More importantly, in a sense, for her to have waited for that period of time enough for you Democrats,” Trump continued, “And I guess I’m including you, too, the media. I consider you a part of the Democrat Party. But, for you, for the Democrats, to be talking about, ‘We want more time for the FBI.’ If you wanted more time for the FBI, why didn’t Dianne Feinstein bring this up?”

    Somebody has to do it.

And re: Spook’s linked article – don’t you wish you could write like Schlichter. I love his use of wrods ….

    • Retired Spook October 1, 2018 / 4:06 pm

Kurt takes snark to a whole new level.

  12. Cluster October 1, 2018 / 3:48 pm

Shouldn’t someone ask the Democrats that if the FBI probe comes back squeaky clean – will they vote to approve Kavanaugh?

    • Retired Spook October 1, 2018 / 4:07 pm

      Is that a rhetorical question?

      • Cluster October 1, 2018 / 5:38 pm

Evidently, but why is this question over looked? Wouldn’t that be in the true spirit of “compromise”. Democrats should be held to account on this answer.

  13. Cluster October 1, 2018 / 5:44 pm

Don’t you love all the “Republican strategists” on CNN and MSNBC who sound NOTHING like a conservative. No wonder we’re in such hurt. While we “conservatives” have been working and raising families over the decades, we thought we were voting for people who shared our values when in reality they just shared the same donor class with the Democrats.

    • M. Noonan October 1, 2018 / 10:00 pm

A Republican strategist is a guy who figures out how to ensure the GOP loses.

  14. Cluster October 1, 2018 / 6:16 pm

John Roberts just had a great point …. a lot of other nominees would have thrown in the towel by now but not Kavanaugh. We will owe a huge debt of gratitude to Judge Kavanaugh for taking the left on. And before that Judge Clarence Thomas, he too had to battle, and that’s the only way we win ……. beat the living hell out of them because they will not go away without a fight.
