Democrats are already lining up to run against Trump. Illustrative of how this will go is Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI). She’s as liberal as the day is long but deep in her background was a time when she wasn’t full-blown liberal. Because of these past heresies, she’s being mercilessly savaged in the liberal world. Mark my words: for 2020, the left – which controls who gets the Democrat nomination – will not settle for anything less than an Absolute Not Trump. Their nominee will have to sign off on the very latest iteration of whatever it is the left is hating Trump about, no matter how obscure or silly it is. If someone on the left makes an accusation against Trump, everyone who wants to be the Democrat nominee will have to subscribe to it. It’ll get really interesting.
In re the Wall and Shutdown, Don Surber notes that Trump Hatred has trapped the Democrats – they hate him so much they are fighting over an amount of money that is so small, it works out to a rounding error. Earlier, I happened to overhear someone conversing with another about the mess – the person doing most of the talking was apparently married to a furloughed worker and went on and on and on about what a bad man Trump was, how stupid the wall was, blah, blah, blah. What was remarkable, to me, was that the other party – while clearly having no love for Trump – kept pushing back and insisting that the wall was necessary because the border does have to be controlled. I think we’re seeing that dynamic play out nationwide: the Democrats just keep repeating their talking points, but it is blowing right past non-Democrats because everyone can see the fight is about nearly nothing and, what the heck, why not build the wall? I think Trump will win this – only a craven surrender by the Senate GOP could derail us, and I don’t think Cocaine Mitch is in the mood to surrender.
It’s a poll from a Libertarian outfit (and, so, probably skewed anti-war), but it shows that the American people largely back Trump’s withdrawal from Syria. I’d have to look it up for how long ago I wanted us to withdraw from the Middle East, entirely: but it was a while back ago. Long before Trump. I did, of course, back the war in Iraq but I thought at the time – given Bush’s “axis of evil” bit – that it was a mere precursor to war with the actual source of the Middle East problem: Iran. I would have had it – Iraq, then Syria/Lebanon…and, then, if Iran hadn’t collapse, on to Tehran to finish the job. A swift moving series of military actions, with no fussing about nation building (I’d prefer we just find local strongmen and let them rule the locals, backed by our force), would have rocked the enemy on his heels and, also, prevented an anti-war left from really coalescing. Bush decided to do it differently, likely on the advice of people at State and Defense. I don’t think the American people are anti-war, as such, but they are anti-war-forever. They are anti-no-victory. They are anti-wasting-time-and-lives. If we go to war, we should go all the way. And if we can’t see our way to that, we should just stay home.

The longer the Trump shutdown lasts, the more Trump and Republicans are being blamed for it. Ever bill that the house passes trying to reopen the government has more Republicans signing on. There are at least 5 or 6 Republican senators who are pushing to end the shutdown.
People like you need to agree to protect American families rather than pander to “open border advocates” and look the other way while Americans die from illegal immigrants or the drugs that flow across the border. So I guess our appeal is to people like you to please have a sense of humanity and just a little bit of decency and protect American children and families.

Oh, really? You need to pay more attention. They may not use those exact words, but when they advocate for letting in anyone accompanied by a child (and fight against the procedures for determining if the adult is a parent or legal guardian of the child or just dragged it along to meet Obama’s “bring a kid, get a pass” scheme, not caring if the poor innocent child will be dumped once the adult is across the border to be a starving street kid or more likely picked up to be part of the sex slave trade) and want to abolish the agency responsible for enforcement of immigration laws and support and pay for huge caravans of people openly determined to swarm our borders and even engage in violence to do so, it is hard to see any of this as anything BUT advocating for open borders.

But not for tightening requirements for crossing, not for enforcement of laws, not for changing the policy of “bring a kid, get a pass” and its associated abuses of children. Are Dems pushing to abolish sanctuary cities and letting the law do its job? I didn’t think so. Are Dems pushing for stricter rules regarding asylum applications? I didn’t think so. As a matter of fact, the other day I read a quote from one of the Dem talking heads that “asylum is a legal right”.
It’s kind of scary to realize that there are actually people who buy into this nonsense and then go to sites like this to regurgitate it.
That’s one of the differences between you and me Casper – I watch what people do, not what they say, and Democrats policies over the years of “bring a child and get free entry” has resulted in absolute chaos at the border and now Democrats refuse to do anything about it. That is in effect an open border position. It’s nothing but a raw political play for power on behalf of Democrats and Americans are dying because of it.

So a couple of guys got in on a loophole. Why didn’t Republicans change the law? They held both houses of congress for two years. How would a wall stopped them? I am concerned about hundreds of thousand of my fellow Americans (many of them veterans) not getting paychecks because Trump wants a vanity wall. Show me some data demonstrating that the wall would actually prevent deaths and i might change my mind. For that matter, prove that Democrats purposely created border chaos (you won’t be able to). When you subscribe to a political system solely because it appeals to you emotionally, and when you become deeply infatuated with its leaders, I guess it is natural for you to assume that everyone else operates on the same superficial level of decision-making. So because the last Dem president was, in the eyes of His supporters, a true “God-King” who represented such deep emotional gratification, those who worshiped at His altar—-who wore ties emblazoned with His glowing and beneficent face, who swooned when allowed in His presence, who deified Him in every way—have to believe that we on the Right are equally silly, equally foolish, and equally desperate for a political Savior to adore and bow down to.

They yearn for that figure of perfect authority, and simply cannot grasp the fact that so many of us reject the entire concept.
None of us wanted a God-King. We simply wanted a Chief Executive Officer. As I have said, I didn’t want to date Donald Trump, I wanted to hire him. But this entire concept is so alien to those uncomfortable outside the scope of Central Authority and worshiped leader that they just can’t wrap their pointy little heads around it.
That would be OK, if this mindset was not also so darned nasty. If they were just meek and mild, quietly wishing for a tyrant to take over for their thinking and make all their decisions for them, it would be one thing. But for some reason this group is also quite malignant in nature, hostile and furious and hate-driven and spiteful. He and his dependence on polls remind me of the old Chun King commercial.
One Chun King commercial developed by comedian Stan Freberg featured an announcer claiming “Nine out of ten doctors recommend Chun King chow mein” while the camera panned to show ten smiling doctors in white coats, nine of them Chinese.
Of course, in those days even the average TV viewer was smart enough to see the humor in this, while today a Leftist would take it at face value and cite it in arguments.

On an average day, roughly 15 percent of the employees around me are exceptional patriots serving their country. I wish I could give competitive salaries to them and no one else. But 80 percent feel no pressure to produce results. If they don’t feel like doing what they are told, they don’t.
Why would they? We can’t fire them. They avoid attention, plan their weekend, schedule vacation, their second job, their next position — some do this in the same position for more than a decade.
