Listening to Democrats, I can only assume that they are really going to impeach the President. They can’t possibly believe they have 67 votes in the Senate to convict…but the way Democrats talk, it seems clear to me that they believe a majority wants Trump impeached. We’ll see how it comes out – but I suspect that Trump will come out the winner in that fight.

Meanwhile, the RNC is still blowing the doors off the DNC in fundraising – and most remarkably in the “small donor” segment. I keep hearing that everyone hates Trump, but I’ve yet to see that translate into practical reality.

We here in Nevada handed the State over to the Democrats in 2018 and, true to their paymasters in California, Nevada Democrats have passed national popular vote legislation, thus impounding our electoral votes to Democrat ballot-box stuffers in Los Angeles and San Francisco. This happens because Nevada Democrats – like all State-level Democrats – don’t give a damn about their States, but only dictatorial, national power.

Ace has an article about how frightening China’s “social credit” system is becoming, and points out that this is be beta test for its use in the United States. Don’t doubt Ace on that – the left very much wants such a system in order to punish anyone who does’t behave correctly: ie, behave in a manner approved of by the most recent and kook-left part of the global elite. Remember, while jail/torture/execution is a large tool in the tyrant’s tool kit, the Soviets learned long ago that the real way to control people is to make it impossible for them to simply live unless they are approved by the government. Give the liberals power long enough, and you won’t even be able to ride a bus without their permission.

Don Surber points out that vis a vis Iran, all Trump was ever doing was saber rattling to get Iran to back down a bit. We’ll see how it ultimately comes out, but I’ve always doubted that Trump would instigate a war. He’s a businessman who has the businessman’s natural abhorrence of war: it’s bad for business (unless you’re a defense contractor, which Trump isn’t). Trump is actually turning out to be quite effective in foreign policy – mostly because he eschews globalist theories. Iran – or another enemy – could do an overt act which makes war a reality, but in such a case it wouldn’t be Trump leading us to war, but taking charge of a war someone else started.

RSM looks at Alabama’s attitude towards abortion: bottom line, not a lot of Alabama women have abortions. Vastly smaller proportion than in, say, New York City. And that is the crux of the matter: there are several States, like Alabama, which simply don’t want abortion. It is all tied to culture and religion, of course: but in a pluralist Republic, we should be able to accommodate divergence. But liberals won’t allow that – they’re sitting there in their tiny, urban apartments feeding the cat and furious that some woman out there has such a satisfying sex life with her husband that she’s had three kids. They want to put a stop to that.

LOL … but cat should be plural. You are right though, Democrats possess a disturbing need to control people and pass judgement based on their worldview. They are incapable of considering any other viewpoints because of course they have considered themselves to be morally superior. Like AOC, facts don’t matter when you are morally correct. The problem is that morality is purely subjective.

Did you see that a recent poll amongst women revealed that married conservative women are the happiest

I guess this means that women, and people, who tend to their own lives and families rather than wanting to change everyone including the world, are more content with their lives? Who would have thunk it? But then again, you have to question the mental stability of people who are politically motivated by protecting the right to kill someone.

That’s because it’s a blessed union. God blesses the natural union between man and woman.

I have read a little bit lately about an effort to limit judicial power, which is past due. I have never understood how one judge can issue an injunction and completely stop legitimate presidential power, ie: immigration. The courts have become way too political and that’s not good for either side.

    • Amazona May 23, 2019 / 12:51 am

Well, if the oath of office now in effect were to be made both mandatory and binding, as a condition of holding the office under pain of losing both the position and the benefits if the oath were to be violated, every judge would have to look long and hard at every decision, knowing that if it were to be successfully challenged as (for instance) a failure to act according to the Constitution he would lose his job and his pension.

It’s funny this morning to listen to Democrats claim that we “are a nation of laws” – what they really mean is that this is a country of laws that they get to choose which ones to follow. Seriously anyone with a 5th grade education can tick off a lengthy list of laws that Democrats willingly flaunt, and yet they say this with a straight face trying their best to convince everyone. Sadly they do though. We have become a nation of seriously stupid people … thanks in large part to technology which has decreased peoples attention spans and subjected them to a daily barrage of mindless content..Couple that with inferior, if not dishonest academic instruction and we now have a generation or two of compliant and malleable citizens who believe guns create violence and men can be women among other nonsense.

It’s a bizarre world these days. My hope is that kids like Spook’s grandson are the norm not the exception. I am not so sure though.

Let this one sink in a little bit:

As Emily’s List president Stephanie Schriock appeared as a guest, Todd repeatedly suggested that Democrats should be more strident about pushing abortion rights, even hinting Democrats should cut funding for rare pro-life Democratic candidates.

He even suggested Democrats should be more aggressive in defending late-term abortion to counter conservatives who are “unabashed” on the issue.

Democrats are just not happy anymore unless they have the legal authority to kill babies and anyone who wants to protect life is now “extreme”.

    They really are vile people.

    • Amazona May 23, 2019 / 9:56 am

      MORE strident?
      MORE aggressive?

In other words, more hysterical and more insane.

But I like the idea of them not funding Dem candidates who don’t toe the radical Leftist line—it would make our point for us. That is, disagreement is simply not tolerated, and to co-exist with tyrants you must submit.

    • Amazona May 23, 2019 / 10:05 am

We need to remember that Leftism is a death cult.

Something the other day reminded me of Terri Schiavo, and of the mobs of ghouls literally screaming for her death. Some of this went on here on this blog, and I still remember the adamant, fevered demands of the Leftists who posted here that she be killed. Not a single fact was allowed to intrude on their utter absolute commitment to the death of a woman who had done nothing wrong.

That was what it came down to. Her continued existence, even in the loving care of her family, not a burden on society, was so deeply offensive to the Death Cult of the Left that they howled in outrage and massed to verbally savage anyone who argued for allowing her to live.

They have the same attitude toward babies. Just as the one person who would benefit from Terri’s death, the man whose freedom would be at risk if she were allowed the kind of care that might let her communicate what had happened to her, was given total control over whether she would live or die, backed up by the slavering mobs of death cultists, any unborn baby targeted for extinction by a pathologically selfish female, the only person to benefit by its death, must die. MUST DIE. In utero or after birth, it must die, screech the death cultists who now openly advocate for targeting and harassing and persecuting anyone who disagrees with them.

We need to remember, these are the people who will be in charge of the entire government if we don’t stop them here and now.

      • Cluster May 23, 2019 / 10:59 am

I had forgotten about Terri Schiavo … thanks for the reminder and you’re 100% correct. They did celebrate Terri’s death just as they recently celebrated destroying Gen. Michael Flynn’s life and career. If these people ever get to more prominent powerful positions, we will need to initiate armed conflict. We absolutely can not allow authoritarians like these people to have any more power in this country.

The recent deaths of migrant children in the custody of the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies were tragic and regrettable. But a Democratic lawmaker, with an apparent boost from the CBS Evening News, claimed without evidence that the deaths were part of an intentional plot by the Trump administration which was being carried out by the Border Patrol and other agencies.

Let’s just say the Trump administration is aborting these children. That ought to please Democrats.

    • Amazona May 23, 2019 / 9:48 am

      “an intentional plot””

Just when you think they can’t get any more unhinged, they prove you wrong.

So let’s see how this plot unfolds. The President of the United States, in his role as the 21st Century Hitler, PLOTS (you can just envision him taking time out from his real job to huddle with his co-conspirators around the desk in the Oval Office, as they cackle ominously and excitedly move little dark figures around on a map to decide which child to kill next) to exercise his power to illustrate his racism by killing off one dark skinned child at a time, every few months, in a bungled effort to impose a new Final Solution—but parents must volunteer their children for extermination by dragging them across a big country in dangerous, sometimes lethal, conditions, exposing them to disease and hardship, assuring that they will be weakened and possibly quite ill before they fall into the hands of the plotters.

Got it. Sounds like See BS is as accurate and ethical as always. Is their motto still “fake but accurate”?

Oh my, another conundrum for the poor pretzeled Left. They hate religion, but they love them their Muslims, so what to do when Muslims demand not just tolerance of their religious practices but accommodations made for them?

They howl about “discrimination” but then have to, or at least should have to, address the conflicts between making a Christian violate his religious beliefs by becoming part of a ritual that violates those beliefs and, say, saying it is OK for Muslims to refuse to tolerate dogs of any kind, including service dogs because just being around a dog somehow violates some belief of this religion.

Muslim taxi drivers refuse to carry dogs, even seeing eye dogs. Muslim bus drivers, ditto. Muslims want them banned from public transport. In one case they want dogs banned altogether from a city they have moved into, saying the mere presence of dogs in the city they have chosen to live in is a violation of their religious beliefs. In at least one case when a city has refused to act strongly enough for the Muslim zealots, a rash of dog poisonings has taken place.

I’ll bet arresting a Muslim for poisoning dogs would be “racist”, right? Or Islamophobic.

And where is PETA in all this?

In their diabolical quest for power, look what the Democrats and the media have done to our children:

Lori Rodriguez, a 27-year-old communications professional in New York City, is not saving for retirement, and it isn’t necessarily because she can’t afford to — it’s because she doesn’t expect it to matter.

Like many people her age, Rodriguez believes climate change will have catastrophic effects on our planet. Some 88% of millennials — a higher percentage than any other age group — accept that climate change is happening, and 69% say it will impact them in their lifetimes. Engulfed in a constant barrage of depressing news stories, many young people are skeptical about saving for an uncertain future.

    This is criminal

    • Amazona May 23, 2019 / 6:46 pm

As a local talk show host said today about this excuse—BS! Young people don’t tend to save money, period. so just admit you’d rather party or get the newest iPhone and stop blaming some imaginary crisis. All this whining is getting more and more obnoxious.

      Speaking of whining—–

A New York Times writer recently posted a lengthy opinion piece asserting that “Florida man” stories perpetuate negative stereotypes about mental illness.

This is great on so many levels. Of course there is the New York Elite concept that every story about a man in Florida is about someone with mental illness. After all….south. And there is the knee-jerk virtue signaling, rushing to the defense of some imagined victim of some imagined insult. And there is the chance to post yet another “opinion piece” of total nonsense—what New York Times writer could pass that up?

It has had the effect of making me be on the lookout for “Florida man” stories. The latest, and source of the quote, was something like “Florida man runs over sunbather, keeps driving”. But now that I think of it, there have been some pretty good ones. I can’t remember any verbatim, but they tend to be along the lines of “Florida man eluding police while driving lawn tractor while drunk runs over alligator on golf course, fifth green damaged”.

Of course, in New York tying one on and then taking off on a police chase on a lawn tractor DOES sound a little mentally ill, but that’s just New York for you. And you don’t have to be crazy to run over an alligator—they are everywhere. And flat. Hard to see on a golf course. Sheesh

  8. JeremiahTMM May 23, 2019 / 7:34 pm

I think it’s really strange that the Democrats want to impeach the President for no reason. There’s no grounds for impeachment. Absolutely none.

But wait….maybe it’s not so strange, I forgot the Democrats are tyrants. Not just your run of the mill tyrant either mind you, but tyrants who want to murder you and I. They would rather use bullets, but they know that would get too much resistance, so they are going to use starvation. Think: New Green Deal.

    • Cluster May 24, 2019 / 8:17 am

The Democrats are actively aborting American babies while ushering in a whole new uneducated population thru the southern border to replace us. I think that’s there plan.

      • JeremiahTMM May 24, 2019 / 3:30 pm

Yeah that’s part of their plan, Cluster. I think public education is also connected. They are using all a avenues at their disposal
. They use a free society, free markets to their advantage, in which they act upon those advantages to use them against America. Rather than build a strong America, they make us weak. And the end goal is always the same, to eliminate everyone with a differing viewpoint. And it’s working for them, this is the first time, I think, in our history where college students are embracing the communist flag. We have people openly pushing for communist policies in government. Their true authoritarian nature is displayed in public education, there is no freedom of thought. Just think about that, literally millions of people come out of the public institute of higher learning every spring, and they are ready programmed to do for their professors what they trained them to do politically, to make the communist sector of society grow bigger and bigger. It’s just a matter of time if something isn’t done about this, before they reach that pivotal point where they finally get their desired end.

      • JeremiahTMM May 25, 2019 / 3:26 am

And I think the lesser of two evils in this case – either we take them out through civil disobedience, or we let them take us through government orchestrated elimination. Now which would be the greater crime? Or the greatest injustice?

  9. Amazona May 23, 2019 / 9:14 pm

What is it about Dems just being so downright creepy?

Cluster, you often comment on the lack of self awareness of Dems. This is a good example. Maizie is so smug about the lack of response from (probably creeped out) eight graders when she asked them a question that was, basically, just a bizarre fantasy unrelated to the truth.

“I asked the girls in that group of eighth graders: How many of you girls think that government should be telling us, women, when and if we want to have babies, not a single one of them raised their hands,” Hirono continued.

“How many of you boys think that government should be telling girls and women when and if we’re going to have babies, and not a single one of them raised their hand,” the senator added.

I’m guessing no hands were raised because every one of these children, aged 13-14, knew that abortion has nothing at all to do with the government telling women when they can have babies. It has to do with the government telling women when they can kill their babies, and even children know, instinctively, that the right answer is “never”.

They also clearly understand that when faced with a creepy fanatic the best thing to do is to say nothing and hope she goes away.

Amash wrote on Twitter last week that Mueller’s report identified “multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice.”

Hmmm. I haven’t read the report, but I also haven’t heard of it identifying an actual crime alleged to have been committed by Trump, much less any action he took to try to impede investigation into it.

Keep in mind, even after more than two years of passionate emoting about the things Trump has done that have upset the Left, none of them has ever actually identified a crime. They have said that the things that have their panties in a twist OUGHT to be crimes, that in their minds they ARE crimes, but no one—not one—has sited a statute identifying any of the actions as criminal.

And the definition of obstruction of justice is impeding the investigation of a crime. Not refusing to participate in a fishing expedition hoping to find something that might be construed or distorted to represent a crime, but in an actual investigation of an actual, identified, crime.

    • Cluster May 24, 2019 / 8:24 am

Re: your earlier post, Sen Hirono is scary kind of stupid. Hard to believe anyone voted for that, but she is a good compliant Democrat capable of repeating talking points and that’s all the matters anymore in that party.

I saw Jerry Nadler on Maddow last night and he had a hard time identifying what exactly he was investigating and what exactly Trump has done wrong but he is certain that the President has committed crimes he just hasn’t found them yet. Mueller just didn’t dig deep enough according to Nadler and was “intimidated” by the executive branch.

If a Democrat is not complaining they are not breathing.

      • Amazona May 24, 2019 / 9:35 am

It may have been the same Maddow show where Nadler described, albeit inadvertently, Mueller’s conflict. He wants a chance to go in front of Congress and build on his weaselly effort to implicate the president without actually identifying any real wrongdoing, but he is afraid that doing so might put him in the position of being asked questions about things he really doesn’t want to discuss—that is, the weaponization of his FBI and use of federal authority to spy on American citizens to try to help a Leftist get elected to the presidency and his role in this and the fraud upon the Court.

Nadler tried to boost Mueller’s image by asserting that Mueller considers himself to be a model of “rectitude” and rightfully so, but then blundered on, exposing the ugly truth as Liberals tend to do when they can’t shut up: emphasis mine

he doesn’t want to participate in anything that he might regard as a political spectacle, especially if Republicans on the committee start asking him questions about the beginning of the — about this stuff, the beginning of the investigation, So he wants to testify but only in “private” and presumably in front of only selected Leftist fellow travelers who will helpfully toss a few slow balls over the plate and feed him tidbits that can later be used as quotes, without exposing him to claims he lied to Congress (now that that is almost a capital crime) or implicating himself any further.

Note the Leftist redefinition of terms—now being asked pertinent questions related to criminal wrongdoing is, when asked by Republicans, merely “political spectacle”. (Not like the objective, intellectual act of slobbering over fried chicken on the floor of the House, accompanied by a rubber chicken.)

These guys are tripping all over themselves and each other. They desperately want Mueller to testify so they can lead him into making comments they can use in their hate-driven vendetta against the president, Mueller wants a chance to build on his sly concoction of innuendo and implication without being pinned down to specifics (because he has none) and worse, he knows that testifying will put him in a very dangerous position given the investigations into FBI misconduct, frauds upon the Court and illegal spying on Americans. The Dems are pushing him to play along and while more time in the spotlight, and posturing as a hero, is tempting to him he also knows it is very dangerous and could lead to him being prosecuted for perjury and other crimes. The Dems are fine with that, and he is pushing back, not quite able to tell them he can’t testify because he has nothing to say and his efforts to imply wrongdoing will unravel under any true questioning, because he needs their adoration and praise almost as much as he fears the consequences of his actions.

So he is trying to walk the tightrope, with the Dems pressuring him to testify and the Republicans eager to have a shot at him, and all he can do is have a mouthpiece like Nadler explain to the public that he is held back only by his “rectitude” and fears that a solemn and important moment in American history will be sullied by the Republicans and turned into nothing but “political spectacle”—he might have to refuse to testify just to salvage the dignity of the nation.

Tweets responding to her latest inanity (though I have to clarify that—latest as of this morning, knowing she may have topped it since then) about a tornado warning in DC having some deep sinister meaning vis-à-vis CLIMATE CHANGE !!!! are pretty funny. A meteorologist tweeted no, that’s just “weather” but this was my favorite:

Remember just a few short months ago we were being accused of being scared to death of AOC? Now — not so much. I think the Left is beginning to realize just how much campaign ad material they’ve given us — for FREE.

I can’t believe how much I missed being gone to Kansas for 4 days for my youngest grandson’s high school graduation. Since he also just made Eagle Scout a couple weeks ago, we got to present him with this:

We caught quite a bit of talk radio on the way home yesterday after a 3-day hiatus from the news. Sounds like things may be coming to a head. I’m wondering if the declassification of numerous documents that Trump has been promising will be timed to coincide with the DOJ IG report.

      • Cluster May 24, 2019 / 10:43 am

Congrats Spook … what a great kid

        This is PRICELESS

“While Trump stonewalls the public from learning the truth about his obstruction of justice, Trump and Barr conspire to weaponize law enforcement and classified information against their political enemies,” Schiff wrote. “The coverup has entered a new and dangerous phase. This is un-American.”

Can you smell the projection and desperation?

      • Retired Spook May 24, 2019 / 11:09 am

The Left has projection down to an art form.

      • Amazona May 24, 2019 / 11:17 am

So now we are “weaponizing….classified information”? I thought they wanted everything out in the open, full transparency, keeping things hidden was tantamount to obstruction of justice, blah blah blah. It was worth $40 million and more than two years to dig up every single thing they could on everyone associated with Trump, in the name of transparency and openness. They have demanded that all redactions in the Mueller report be unredacted, because they are convinced that redactions are “hiding” important information. They have demanded that a judge order the Attorney General of the United States to break the law (regarding the secrecy of grand jury testimony) in their pursuit of stripping every single cloak of secrecy off every single thing they can think of, in their obsessive conviction that there HAS to be SOMETHING there, somewhere, somehow.

Except—-Trump has called their bluff. He has said “You want to see it all? Here it is.”

Now uncovering information is really just more of a “coverup”. Poor Orwell—he thought he had pushed his satire of Leftism to its limits. He could never have imagined a United States Representative stating that declassifying information is really covering it up, that cooperation is really obstruction and that complying with the law is really breaking it but breaking it is necessary to comply with it.

Schiff is right, though—this whole thing IS entering a new and dangerous phase. The thing is, it is only dangerous to the criminals who perpetrated a massive fraud on the nation in their determination to mount a coup and unseat a president, abusing the power of their offices and subverting justice to do so. Schiff himself is not on the hot seat—-at least so far we don’t think so—but he has to rally to try to protect his teammates, the criminals who used the powers of their positions to engage in unlawful surveillance of American citizens in efforts to rig a presidential election. He has to try to shift attention away from the antics and lawlessness and abuses of power of his party because once the facts start to come out his party is sunk, and he knows it.

All he can do is hope there are enough stupid people to believe his bizarre and blatant lies to keep the Democrat Party from accelerating in its death spiral. But they have stepped over the precipice and I can’t see how there is any going back.

Between the clown car of those jostling for position in the Dem candidacy charade, the mouthiness of the freshman Representatives utterly committed to dragging the party into a morass of public stupidity, overt bigotry and insulting more than half of America by attacking Christians and Jews, the support of infanticide and increasingly strident demands for normalizing the murder of babies, the blatant stupidity of the Green New Deal and its advocates and the increasing distastefulness of the party’s leaders, Pelosi and Schumer, the party seems to be engaging in an orgy of self-destructiveness, with morons like Nadler and Schiff rushing in to pour gasoline on the dumpster fire that is the Democrat Party these days.

Aside from making me think I would gag on KFC these days, it’s entertaining to watch.

Every once in a while I read an article or essay that reinforces my belief that we are ultimately headed in the right direction. This book review is such an article.

Wilfred McClay’s new textbook on American history outshines the competition, thanks to its balanced approach, its superb narrative style, and its reintroduction of topics and themes that have long since fallen from the pages of most classroom editions.

    — snip —

n his latest work, Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story, University of Oklahoma history professor Wilfred McClay offers a new survey of American history. When I was asked to review it, I put myself on guard. I was skeptical that I would find a new and “fair” American history text. Instead, I expected to find yet another work with a political angle, whether sharp or hidden.

Experience has taught me that bias more often enters history textbooks through what their authors omit from the standard account, rather than through any new topics they might add. So, I immediately turned to the chapters that would be most vulnerable to revision.

What I encountered was a rich account of American history that had me rethinking historical events from new perspectives. My skepticism soon gave way to curiosity. As I began to race through the pages, I felt that I was learning much of the material for the first time.

    • Cluster May 24, 2019 / 2:33 pm

What makes America great is all of our faults and our transgressions that we have strived over the decades to acknowledge and to overcome. I would never want to live in a perfect, equitable, managed society. I prefer the rugged individualism and entrepreneurial spirit that this country fosters and inspires which allows people to fail and find their way back. I saw a great quote the other day …

“Success is moving from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.”

I think that sums up this country pretty well and I am damn proud to be a part of it.

      • Retired Spook May 24, 2019 / 2:51 pm

I could not agree more. Unfortunately I think we’re in for a helluva fight to keep our Republic. There’s an excellent essay at Public Discourse today about American exceptionalism, freedom and equality.

Perhaps no one affords a greater understanding of American exceptionalism—what it is and what it is not—than Alexis de Tocqueville. French and aristocratic by birth, Tocqueville was tendentiously devoted neither to America in particular nor to democracy in general. He was also possessed of an astonishing acuity and keen sensitivity, which not only permitted him to apprehend America’s many shortcomings (its mistreatment of African and Native Americans foremost among them), but compelled him to draw attention to them. That such a man still found in America something exceptional demonstrates that a belief in American exceptionalism need not stem from narrow-minded chauvinism.

What did that French aristocrat find so exceptional in America’s nascent democracy? A great deal, but perhaps most fundamentally and most consequentially, the habits to sustain it.

I hope those habits are not completely lost on the generations after ours.

    • Amazona May 24, 2019 / 9:35 pm

Cluster, they are in a death spiral already. The Left has always had an appeal to many Americans because it was packaged as fair, and nice, and compassionate, and for the “little man”. It represented the Right as robber barons, greedy and only for the rich. And that worked, for a long time.

Remember, Kennedy appealed to Americans to approve of his tax hikes by pointing out that a rising tide raises all boats. That’s a moderate, conservative, philosophy. Carter appealed as a nice guy, a simple downhome farmer in a sweater vest, a man who fit in well with America. Clinton was charming and ran as an easy going sane guy you’d like to invite to a barbeque—even after you realized you’d have to hide your daughters first. The ominous messages of Obama were drowned out by the allegations of racism and the desire of so many Americans to prove to the world that this is not a racist country and that they were not racists—–and he ran against a very unlikable man. So the Left has moved upward in power and influence incrementally, and by being unthreatening and representing goodness and kindness and generosity and fairness.

We knew this was a mask, and that behind it lurked the insatiable monster of Leftist governance just waiting for a chance to explode in size, scope and power, but the people who put Democrats in power never saw this ugly, vicious, hateful side.

And now they do. Now they are having their faces rubbed in it. Now every time they tune in to a TV show featuring Democrats they are swamped with hateful nasty bickering and wild-eyed accusations, by people elected to legislate, not try to overturn an election and unseat a president. Suddenly the party of kindness and generosity is represented by a harridan running around waving a bloody head meant to look like the president’s. Now it is represented not by women like our relatives, who said they thought abortion should be available to those who feel they really need it but it should be rare, but by screeching harpies strutting around in costumes like genitalia, howling that they demand abortion at any time for any reason with no apologies—and this in the face of the science that is showing us 3-D ultrasounds of babies sucking their thumbs and kicking their feet and making it clear that they are really BABIES with personalities, who can feel pain. Now it is represented by people who think these babies should be killed even after they are born. It is no longer represented as a party wanting a strong and vibrant economy but as one determined to destroy our economy and waste what money we do have on wild-eyed schemes no one thinks could ever work.

We can use all this against them, to nudge this self-destructiveness along and keep it on track to eliminate the support the Left needs to be really powerful—if we are smart enough to use it against them. Trump is doing his part, though his approach does tend to be two steps forward one step back. Barr is a godsend, and I hope he has the equilibrium to deal with Trump, because he has the ability to blow the Left right out of the water.

But…back to us being smart…we have to be organized enough to point out, consistently and often, that what Barr is uncovering is not just about some PEOPLE (Identity Politics) but a political structure that was on the verge of taking over the nation, and we have to point out that if Trump had not been elected and this system had continued to be in power the abuses and crimes we are learning about would have continued, would have escalated, until no citizen would be safe from the wrath of the State when it felt slighted or insulted.

If we can’t do that successfully all we will have accomplished will be a temporary lull people will think of as a purge of a few bad apples, not dodging the bullet of typical Leftist tyranny.

A review of David Horowitz’s new book contains a good summary of what I am trying to say.

“I’ve been reading David Horowitz since college. Unlike most of us, who get so caught up in the details we miss the point, David sees our political debates in their historical scope

This sums up what concerns me…..that when we try to deal with the kinds of things we are facing now, we tend to focus on the details, and the people involved. That is fine, for the period in which the events are being investigated, etc. But we will fail to make them relevant and, to use a newly beloved Lefty word, “transformative” if we don’t take the next step and put them into historical and political context.

That is, that the belief that the State has, and is entitled to use, its power and authority to further ITSELF. That using our intelligence and law enforcement agencies to spy on citizens to enable the State to retain and expand its power is acceptable. That this pattern is the pattern of tyranny, and when unchecked always leads to more and more oppression from the State and by the State. That this nation was founded on a desire to prevent this from happening, was created as a response to a government based on a Central Authority with unlimited power over the people.

Without a coherent and consistent return to those themes, as the investigations go forward, we will be addressing some symptoms while allowing the disease to remain undiagnosed, to remain embedded in our system where it can grow and metastasize and show up again.

We need to firmly and unequivocally and repeatedly point out the connection between the development of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies into a form of Secret Police used to watch citizens who might be seen as threats to the supremacy of the ruling elites and the core political philosophy of Barack Obama—that is, Leftism. It’s not enough to say Barack Obama was behind this, or that anyone else was behind it—-we have to steadfastly link it to the way Leftist governments are always run, and point out Obama as the representative of that system committed to implementing it and not just a guy whose government agencies kind of got out of control.

Amazona has, on several occasions, suggested a number of policies to limit or eliminate voter fraud, among which (IIRC) is mailing of post cards to people on the voter rolls. If the cards are returned “not deliverable,” or “no longer at this address,” or some such message, the person is deleted from the voter rolls. Amazona will be pleased to know that my wife and I just received such cards from the State of Indiana Election Division. The card reads as follows:

If you are (actually bolded on the card) the addressee on this postcard, then you are already registered to vote at this address. No further action by you is needed.

If you are not Retired Spook, please write “No longer lives here” on the front of this postcard and place in a mail receptacle.

It doesn’t surprise me that Indiana is doing this. I hope every state in the country follows suit.

    • Amazona May 24, 2019 / 8:09 pm

Spook, it is a good start. But a card sent to the home of someone who has died, and not returned, means the new resident can vote in the name of the deceased—unless Indiana also cross references deaths with voter registrations. And it does not address other issues.

I would like to see a simple form that has to be filled out and returned, to remain on the registration rolls. It would clearly be marked that all statements are sworn to be true, under penalty of perjury.

Are you a citizen of the United States?
      Native born or naturalized
If native born, give date and place of birth
If naturalized, give place and date of naturalization and reference number of case
Are you registered to vote in any other precinct, county or state?
      If so, where
If so, which registration do you wish to retain?

It could be on a postcard, with postage paid.

      • Amazona May 24, 2019 / 11:45 pm

I agree, IF the original registration was valid. But if it was not, then being required to affirm, under penalty of perjury, that one is a citizen is important. Ditto for the question about being registered in more than one place. You have written about your neighbors who vote in Indiana before heading south to Florida for the winter, where they vote again.

The SQ (Silliness Quotient) of the rabid Left just keeps going up, doesn’t it?

And they love to advertise it.

Which reminds me of this tweet from a hysteric freaking out over the fact that Nadler had a Hillary moment and nearly passed out in some Dem meeting. It was, of course, Trump’s fault. Not that Nadler is clearly overweight, obviously unhealthy, and lives on a mental diet of rage, hatred, spite and malice.

The extent of stress @realDonaldTrump is giving everyone is enough to send us all to ER. I’ve had to shut off everything Trump last week due to extreme headache it caused me. My son hate seeing his face or hear his name on TV, social media. We have to stop his mess by impeachment

We have to stop his mess by impeachment These morons, these low-IQ mouthbreathers, seem to have attached some mystical powers to the word “impeachment”. In fact, if Trump WERE to be impeached, he would just grin, say something like “I hope you all feel better—maybe now you can finally start to go to work and do what you were elected to do” and go play golf. It would have no impact on whatever it is that has this hag hyperventilating and having “extreme headache”. In fact, it would make her condition worse, as it wouldn’t do a thing to harm Trump but would damage her party.

  15. Amazona May 24, 2019 / 7:52 pm

Back to the Leftist attitude that if you indicate that you might have wanted to do something, you are guilty of doing it. At least, if you are a conservative. If you are a Liberal, you can wish you could burn down the White House, engage in elaborate fantasies complete with props about your desire to behead the president, say you would like to see the daughters of Trump supporters raped, say you would like to see Trump’s young son sodomized, and so on.

But a retired soldier said, talking about Trump’s pardoning of military personnel found guilty of killing Iraqi combatants,

I was tasked with releasing Iraqi men who we knew had American blood on their hands. The lawyers told us we had to.

Did we think about taking justice into our own hands? Sure we did.

And oh, the screeching and howling from the Left.

And the SQ goes up a few more points

Speaking of a rising SQ – MSNBC is apologizing to the rest of the world this morning for Trump and America not “playing by the rules” in re: to trade. They are concerned that Russia and China will no longer “trust us” to be “stable trading partners”

They really do have a pollyanish world view … in their minds all immigrants are wholesome people who want to pay taxes if they weren’t held back by oppressive white nationalists, and Russia and China are the models for trade integrity we all should follow.

Here’s a good example of the leftist mindset:

    • Retired Spook May 25, 2019 / 10:06 am

in their minds all immigrants are wholesome people who want to pay taxes if they weren’t held back by oppressive white nationalists,

This is the most comprehensive article I’ve found regarding illegals paying taxes. There are no hard and fast numbers of either the number of illegals in the U.S. or the amount of taxes paid by them. This article puts the best possible spin on the situation, and left me with more questions than answers. Some parts make absolutely NO sense, For example:

The IRS estimates that undocumented immigrants pay over $9 billion in withheld payroll taxes annually. Undocumented immigrants also help make the Social Security system more solvent, as they pay into the system but are ineligible to collect benefits upon retiring. In 2010, $12 billion more was collected from Social Security payroll taxes of undocumented workers than were paid out in benefits. (emphasis – mine)

I understand that undocumented immigrants can’t receive social security benefits, although they receive at least as much as the $9 billion in welfare benefits. ( Of the half dozen or so articles I read, the estimates for the welfare cost of illegals runs from $9 billion to $100 billion, with $55 to $60 billion being the most likely total) Illegals also use the welfare system at a rate about double that of the general population. Going back to the numbers above, if the estimated 12 million illegals in the U.S. pay $9 billion in payroll taxes, that’s $750 for each individual — NOT EACH WORKER, BUT EACH INDIVIDUAL. I haven’t seen any solid data on the number of illegals in this country who are actually working, and how many of those pay payroll taxes, but I’d have to think that that latter number is quite small. Assuming 10% of the 12 million both work and pay payroll taxes (The linked article says there are 3 million tax returns filed annually using an ITN#, and it’s estimated that the majority are illegals. I find it incomprehensible that it’s that high) then that would be $7,500 each in payroll taxes. Even if the $9 billion includes both employee and employer contributions (15.3% total) that would mean those 1.2 million illegal workers average just under $50,000 in annual income. If the $9 billion is the employee contribution only, then average income would be close to $100,000. Not likely. I also found no articles that even mentioned illegals paying income taxes.

I encourage Democrats to continue to exert as much energy as possible in defending the status and value of illegals at the expense of law-abiding Americans.

      • Amazona May 25, 2019 / 10:27 am

Social Security withholding is done by an employer based on the W-2 form filled out by the employee. So this article is stating that these illegals have filled out W-2s and the employers have not done e-verify or confirmed that the SS numbers given are valid. while the Left constantly bellows that e-verify will solve the problem of illegals working in the United States.

It seems to be implying that if we were to deport all these people we would be losing all that money they dump into the system. It seems to be arguing that illegals are a net gain to the economy. It actually argues that illegals help make the SS system more solvent. (Why not argue that illegals make the economy stronger, as more people have to be hired to teach their children, be law enforcement officers and prison guards, etc.)

Like you, Spook, I also question the numbers, though unlike you I didn’t take the time to do the math. When this article refers to what is paid out in benefits it is talking about what is paid out only in SS benefits, but there is ample evidence, backed up by proof, that the benefits claimed by illegals are far greater than $12 billion when you consider the costs of educating their children, picking up the tabs for things like hospital visits and programs to pay utility bills for those who can’t pay them, food stamps, additional costs for things like law enforcement (and the cost of imprisoning convicted criminals ) etc.

I’m going to hazard a guess here and say I believe the cost of caring for prisoners in this country who are illegal aliens is more than $12 billion a year, alone.

We should avoid the weasel word “benefits” and use the word “expenses” or “costs”. The additional costs associated with hiring more law enforcement personnel, arresting and processing illegals when they are caught, the expenses associated with court proceedings and the costs of housing them before and after sentencing should be tallied.

How many more classrooms have had to be built, teachers hired, free lunches (and breakfasts) provided, books printed and purchased, utility bills paid, etc. to accommodate the children who are here illegally?

The article is inherently stupid. We could take $9 billion out of the budgets of the agencies tasked with paying the expenses associated with illegal aliens and dump it into SS and make the same claim—that they are helping keep SS solvent. It’s a financial shell game—move money from this place to that place, and try to keep up with where it was and where it is going, as well as how often it is counted as it moves from one place to another.

      • Cluster May 25, 2019 / 11:13 am

How does the government collect SS taxes on someone who does not have an SS#? How is that person “legally” working in the US? And if they do have an SS# and are working .. how is that being “in the shadows”?

  17. Cluster May 25, 2019 / 9:26 am

You know who needs infrastructure? Cities governed by Democrats. LA, NY, SF, Chicago, Baltimore, etc. are all falling apart while cities like Salt Lake, Phoenix, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, etc. are all doing pretty well, so let’s hold off on the infrastructure bill. The Democrats are the only ones that need it.

    • Amazona May 25, 2019 / 10:28 am

But Cluster, you are missing the point, which is that under Leftist governance the bills are always paid by someone else. That’s the appeal

  18. JeremiahTMM May 25, 2019 / 4:34 pm

Dan Bongino tweets: A warning from a good friend, who is deeply familiar with the inner workings of Capitol Hill, commenting on Spygate, “be very careful, the Democrats have completely abandoned Western democratic values.”

This is really, really terrifying stuff.”

    • Amazona May 25, 2019 / 10:34 pm

This is not breaking news.. The Dem abandonment of all Western democratic values took place a long time ago, but didn’t go public with big headlines till Trump won. His victory pushed, pulled and dragged them out from behind their masks. Susan Rice, Obama’s ambassador to the UN, unmasked something like 300 people. 300 people were identified by her after she used government assets to spy on them. That was years ago.

We can stop thinking of the Democrat Party. It exists now like a zombie exists, kind of similar to the original host body but only superficially. It is now an official arm of the International Left, funded by the International Left and doing the bidding of the International Left in trying to unseat our president and create as much havoc, chaos, conflict and confusion in this nation as possible. It is more and more obvious that their goal is to destabilize our society, in part by fragmenting it into splinters it then sets against each other and in part by trying to erode our system of government.

They would love to get violent. They yearn for violence, they crave it, and they are looking for ways to make it happen. But no matter how hard they try, they can’t get more than a few hired thugs to try to stir up violence, and damaging riots remain the territory of black rioters, linked tightly to race. The only place they could incite violence would be in some cities—out here they would run into armed resistance and that would be that. They don’t own the police, at least not enough to count on them to take up arms against the citizens. Ditto for the military.

They are desperate, and few things are as dangerous as desperate people or groups backed into corners. But they have called so much attention to the incidents leading into the Mueller investigation that not even their accomplices in the media can cover for them, so all they can do is scream, screech, howl, call names and have temper tantrums. And all of that is starting to backfire. I have a feeling Trump is just marking time, waiting for the right moment to make fun of them about the chicken.

Thank God for Trump. I am not sure how a President Cruz would have handled this. But Trump just doesn’t care. Nancy pulls some crap like she did, trying to set him in an ambush, and he called her bluff, walked out on her, and when she tried to turn that against him he called her a crazy old bat. No one has ever done anything like that before.

Did you hear Rush’s imitation of Nadler’s phone interview when he was eating during the interview? It is devastating. We are ripping these people up, making fun of them, ridiculing them, and just not taking them seriously. And now we are scaring them, scaring them badly. This move to declassify all those documents has to have a lot of them peeing down their legs, and calling lawyers and trying to remember what they said and swore to so they can start working on explanations. Soon they will be turning on each other.

Overseas, when the Muslim mayor of London was trashing Trump the Queen uninvited him to a state function. Ouch. And Charles and Camilla have invited Trump and the First Lady to their home, a first for a visiting head of state.

Yes, the American Left is dangerous, and yes, they would love to be able to start killing off the people who threaten them. But they have less and less to work with, every day.

  19. Amazona May 26, 2019 / 8:59 am

More on the evil machinations of the International Left, in this case about its puppets, the Obama administration.

When U.S. intelligence agencies gather information on foreigners, often the name of a U.S. citizen or entity will be collected. Under current U.S. law, information about innocent citizens gathered in this way is referred to as incidental collection. Their names and data must be masked to protect their privacy.

Authorized government officials, under certain conditions, may “unmask” the identity of an individual.

When John Bolton served at the United Nations, he “unmasked” the identities of three individuals. In the year leading up to the 2016 presidential election, then-U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Powers unmasked over 260 Americans.

But the plot thickens. Yes, an Obama official was revealing the names of people under surveillance at the rate of more than one a day “for every working day in 2016”. But why? Was it all about Trump?

No, it was part of the anti-Israel policy of the Obama administration. (emphasis mine)

BREAKING: Samantha Power targeted any call made about Israeli settlements for unmasking. When she found Gen Flynn making calls she opposed, she passed information to Sally Yates who opened Logan Act investigation. DNI Coats has now reviewed all unmasking.

BREAKING: White House plans to declassify documents showing that Samantha Power was on a “one-woman crusade” for the Palestinians and against Israel in 2016. Repeated unmakings were used to ensure her effort did not fail.

The Conservative Review’s Jordan Schachtel tweeted that the “Obama WH was so incredibly hostile to Israel that they used extraconstitutional surveillance powers to spy on pro-Israel advocates to make sure they could thwart efforts to defend Israel. Gross abuses of power & they got off scot-free, for now at least.”

(Note: The Obama administration, you may recall, was caught spying on the Israeli government in December 2015.)

But wait—it gets better. It turns out that the Mueller report admits that George Papadopoulos was originally targeted because of his ties to Israel. He said:

I was actually really impressed and quite frankly shocked that Bob Mueller told the truth about why I was illicitly targeted and it really had nothing to do with Russia. It had to do with my ties to Israel.

Now, this is why this is really important. Because if I was targeted for my ties to Israel, and I had all these various spies approaching me while I was just joining the campaign and they were discussing Israel with me. I think that’s very disturbing and probably is going to reveal quite frankly how this entire investigation started.

Layers upon layers buried in other layers, one leading to another, all intertwined in a viper’s nest of intrigue, hatred and above all abuse of federal power to advance political agendas, whether they were to support the Palestinian efforts or to defeat Trump.

Not to mention the hypocrisy of the Left howling at the moon about their claims that Russia tried to interfere in some way in our presidential election when they were actively working against one foreign nation to aid and empower another. Don’t forget, this is the administration that used American taxpayer dollars to try to manipulate an Israeli election.

    • Cluster May 26, 2019 / 9:13 am

Just keep in mind, everything they have accused, or are accusing Trump of …. they have already done. Like Spook said, it is projection taken to another level. Can you imagine if Trump was caught on a hot mic telling a Russian agent to “hold on, I will have more flexibility after the election’?

      Did y’all see this?

Trump admits he ‘smiled’ when Kim Jong Un called Biden a ‘Swampman’ and a ‘low IQ individual’ in article written for North Korean state media that was full of insults about the 2020 Democratic contender

WOW, I don’t think we are allowed to criticize Democrats, are we? (Can you believe this is an actual headline?)

Spook, it is there for people to see. But it is up to the Right to keep a spotlight on it, and to not only focus on it but put it into context and perspective. As I just said in another post, we can’t let them just shrug this all off as an aberration, just a few rogue bad actors running amok, but have to make the point repeatedly and clearly that this is what the Left does, and people under Leftist governance live this way, with the Central Authority spying on them to find ways to control them and even destroy them if they appear to post a threat to the powers of the State.

They will try to minimize the agenda, to make it about personality, to claim it was just motivated by the dislike of some people for Trump. We need to make it clear that no, it was not just about Identity Politics, but it was a war of ideology, of the Left taking preemptive action to try to shut down a shift away from the Leftist direction Obama had set for the nation back toward a more Constitutional government which does not depend on an all-powerful Central Authority that uses the power of the State to spy on, control and even punish those who might pose a threat to its control.

If there was ever a time, and an opportunity, to focus on the Big Picture it is now.
