The Democrat establishment wants Platner out. And, lo, how the mighty have fallen. When Franken became a liability they found some relatively minor dirt on him and he was gone fast…whats coming out on Platner is quite bad and so far the man isn’t budging. A DNC to MSM hitjob just ain’t what it used to be.
What’s the dirt? Well, the rumored dirt the GOP has on him is supposedly hideous…I won’t repeat what I’ve heard (and, of course, the rumors can be wrong, but they come to be via people who’s integrity I respect) but it would be very bad for Platner and the Democrats if such stories were to drop in October. So, different dirt was called up – this time an accusation that Platner broke into a lady’s home and sexually assaulted her (this being less objectionable than what the GOP has on him!). As is typical with these sorts of thing, no apparent eye witnesses nor any contemporary police report. But, believe all women, right? Well, not the Republican woman who came out with similar accusations ages ago…you don’t believe them! But when a properly Democrat lady comes out, it is five alarm fire time. The reality is that Collins is surging, Platner is flat-lining and at least some of the dirt the GOP has is credible and, so, he’s become a liability…Democrats got their Uber-Dirts order filled and that was supposed to do the trick by July 13th (the deadline for replacing Platner with someone else).
Will it? I hope it doesn’t. Not that I like Platner: even if the accusations are false he’s a complete creep, anti-American, anti-Israel dripping sack of…well, you know. But the Democrats dug this grave all by themselves. They were warned in advance – including by some voices on the Left – that Platner was not the guy. But he hates Trump and Israel so all the upper class, liberal white women flocked to him. Now, they got him. I want them stuck with him. I want them sick at heart from now to November trying to decide if they vote for the Nazi rapist or the Republican.
Mitch McConnell seems…not totally alive. Which is not surprising given his age and overall health…but the Senate GOP is locking arms and pretending he’s fine. Fearful, I guess, that we’d get a GOP Senator who didn’t hate Trump if McConnell were forced to resign. While our prayers are for recovery (or a holy death) for Mitch, his condition is emblematic of the old GOP…rigid, dying, but still clinging to power. The sooner he’s out of office, the better.
The Odyssey flick is getting a huge number of puff pieces in the MSM…which tends to confirm its going to be lousy.

The reviews are telling us it is a fresh and subversive look…with, I guess, their not understanding that to subvert is to destroy. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of ways to play out the story. Illiad, Odyssey and Job can be mined 10,000 times and you wouldn’t exhaust the source material (and I do wonder why we don’t get more books and movies on Job? I put a bit of into Book X…but it is so central to a true understanding of our position in the Universe). But they are their stories. You can’t alter them without wrecking them. The reason you can mine them endlessly is because all three – as Chesterton noted – deal with some major aspect of the human condition. What are we do to? Where do we go? Why are we here? The problem with modern literature, movies, etc is that they shy away from these questions…they deal with our animal appetites. That we don’t want bad. We do want good. But nothing about what is bad, or good, or why we should prefer one to the other. Some ancient, Bronze Age authors (one we assume Divinely inspired) wrote it out for us in three books. It is all there. All your questions are answered. Often with another question, but that is of the nature of things…because just where were you when the foundations of the world were laid?
It isn’t that they cast a black woman as Helen of Troy (absurd – stupid – as that is), it is that they don’t understand the story…they’ve probably created a technical marvel which will be forgotten in a decade…while Homer will be read to the end of human existence.

Re: Iran … the only way to win is to completely destroy their national power grid, their wastewater treatment facilities, their water filtration systems, their food processing plants etc. This way, it wll take Iran 10+ years to just get back on their feet, and if they are unrepentant, we destroy whatever they rebuilt once again. Platner is just one of the many problems Democrats have. That party is falling apart.
I have to wonder what propaganda is being employed (and BTW “propaganda” is not by definition “bad”) to inform the populace of Iran what is happening, and why. We should have an effective communication system in place, to keep the Iranian people informed and hopefully ready to act on their own behalf.

I am not a fan of Graham Platner, but I am less of a fan of women who wait years to bring forward sex abuse claims. Women are just as opportunistic as men.
The whole thing is garbage – because the Democrats are uniformly garbage people. We need to internalize the fact that if you get past 25 still holding to Leftist views, you’re either a complete moron or a skunk looking to work an angle. No honest or sane person shouts their abortion!
Well, as long as we continue letting the emotional foundation of Leftism go unchallenged, never getting past it to the nitty-gritty of what “Left” really means, in a way we are complicit.
Have you ever seen a conservative ask a Democrat the simple question: “Why are you a Democrat?” Have you ever seen an interviewer point out, to a Lefty, that his or her ISSUE is really something that could be addressed in either political model, and then go on to ask why the person rejected the idea of addressing the issue through the Constitutional model instead of being determined to trash the Constitution to do it differently?
I think a lot of this is because so few conservatives have really thought out the underlying political philosophy of their own position. Just saying you are for “smaller government” doesn’t mean anything if it is not based on an actual thought/analysis process.
Without that process, even a dedicated conservative can mangle and tangle a basic legal concept, like Trump did in his EO about ending birthright citizenship to children born to women here ILLEGALLY. What a mess! NO, it is not whether either parent is here ILLEGALLY. One can be here legally, on a student visa or a work visa or a valid visitor visa, and still not be under the jurisdiction of the United States. It’s this lack of actual discussion that lets confused thinking take over.
“No honest or sane person shouts their abortion!” We are clearly not talking about sanity. Remember when Kennedy, et al, started talking about the effects of Tylenol on the unborn, and suddenly some truly nutso females started posting videos of them gobbling down whole bottles of Tylenol?
I was never clear on what this was supposed to represent. Gleeful damage to unborn children? Why mess around with something that MIGHT injure them, when they already have proven poisons, scalpels and suction machinery to do much more effective damage?
What made this funny, in a sad way, is that high doses of Tylenol are dangerous to the adults taking it, and can be lethal. One might think, if Kennedy had warned that choking would damage a fetus by cutting off its oxygen supply, females would have erected gallows and staged mass hangings in response.
But, insanity and malignance aside, I still come back to my assertion that the true underlying driver of most Leftist antics is a desire to be relevant and moral. The problem for those of us who share those aspirations but not the same path to achieve them is that we don’t credit them for the true underlying desire, which I contend is not malignant, but only focus on the sad examples of how this desire has been hijacked and directed into malignant behavior. I admit to coming to the conclusion that most of these people are so deficient in basic intelligence and character that they are easily led into their convictions that they are illustrating moral superiority, but I always come back to the tragic reality that what they are really doing, in spite of their need to be good and moral, is illustrating evil and depravity.
I’ll bet CS Lewis, or someone like him, has written an allegory of this. Actually, I think there is a similar allegory in the Narnia series, when people did vile things in the name of their false god, but only because they had been fooled into thinking what they did was virtuous.
I was on the way to work Friday morning and the early Sabbath song Paranoid came on and it always strikes me as similar to Osbourne’s solo song Crazy Train made many years later – in that the man is screaming for some sort of hope in his life. He’s screaming for God, that is. Then I pondered the whole of Osbourne’s musical career and it was pretty much all that over and over again. Pity for Osbourne that he filled his desire for God with drugs (though towards the end of his life there seemed to be a bit of a redemption arc and I hope he found God, in the end). That is really what the whole thing is – the entire wreck of the modern world is a quest for God by people who have rejected the concept. My joke about it for years has been that Liberalism is a series of attempts to get out of going to Church on Sundays…but as is usual with jokes, there’s a kernel of truth in there.
These bizarre people are looking desperately for what is right in front of them…but determined not to see it because, well, it means realizing one is subordinate. Dependent. Not totally in charge of the world. Of course, once you realize that you can get some actually useful work done…knowing that whatever your small part is, if you do it well it works to the glory of God and the fulfillment of His plan. You think about those clowns who actually set themselves on fire…if they’d just become Christian they wouldn’t have to do that.
