The execution of Nidal Hasan will be livestreamed and people right across the political spectrum are horrified. This is because people right across the political spectrum have, ultimately, no idea what they are doing. We have been living about a century now in a world of make-believe. We’ve pulled the wool over our own eyes. Conned ourselves out of our agency. Abdicated all authority over our own lives. We want to live a coddled existence. We don’t want to know about distasteful things. Except about sex, I guess – give us a good sex story and we’re all ears (and eyes). But about anything else it isn’t so much we don’t want to know but that we want to pretend we don’t know. And yet with all this, we still insist we are citizens and get a say in what happens.
There is no chance Trump will stay the sentence and even if the Courts decide to intervene late, it won’t work – we have a properly rendered sentence according to law and Hasan is guilty. In this, it doesn’t matter if the death penalty is a right or wrong thing to do…the laws in effect now provide for it and the thing will happen. The man will be dead. The horror expressed about livestreaming it isn’t about the enormous thing of taking a man’s life…it is about not wanting to see it taken. So that we can pretend it didn’t really happen. That we played no role in it. Guess what? If you’ve ever voted, you played a role in it. You may as well be on the firing squad. That is the thing about a Republic or a Democracy – all of the citizens are collectively responsible for what the government does. Don’t like this? Then I suggest you get yourself a king – let the king be responsible. You can be the slave and then you’ll have nothing to do with it.
Honestly, not only should his execution be televised, it should be compulsory viewing for everyone who wants a vote.
For us to be citizens, we must take responsibility. We must see what is going on and render judgement upon it, and thus upon ourselves. What do you want? Choose it. Take the consequences or benefits of that choice. Don’t try to pretend you didn’t play a role – even if you’re on the losing side of a political decision, you still participated in it. You decided. You pulled the trigger. You are free to abdicate this authority at any time – renounce your citizenship. Leave the country. Flee far away – go some place where others decide for you. If that’s what you want, fine – but don’t propose to participate along with me in governance if you wish to be free from the consequences of that participation.
As I’ve been saying for a while now, it is time for us to rejoin the real world. The world where actions have consequences. Where suffering is real. Where choices have to be made. Where men and women brace themselves up and do what needs to be done. The sooner we rejoin the real world the sooner our nation and civilization are saved – because that wool over our eyes has allowed an insidious sect of anti-humans to worm their way into the mechanics of our government. While we averted our eyes and pretended we had nothing to do with it, they are busily setting up a system where people can be killed on a whim. Where property doesn’t exist. Where the family is evil. Where God doesn’t exist. You might not like having to decide if a man lives or dies…but if you don’t make that decision, then others will for you…and they might decide it is time for you to die. Slaves, after all, don’t get a say. Citizens do.
Do you want to be a Citizen?

In addition to many eyewitnesses, and overwhelming physical evidence, he also confessed during his court martial in 2013.
