Perry Vs Obama

From NRO’s The Corner:

I don’t know – I have to doubt the Obama picture as I am unaware of any valid pictures of Obama smoking (and NRO notes that the picture might be of Obama prior to turning 22)…but, even if that is a bit photo-shopped, it still tells a bit of truth.  At 22, Obama wasn’t doing anything of note…Perry was.

If 2012 turns to an election on resume’, then Obama will be toast against Perry…

Obama 39%…Ron Paul 38%

More proof that 2012 is becoming an “anybody but Obama” year – from Rasmussen:

…Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul earns 38% of the vote to President Obama’s 39% in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters. Fourteen percent (14%) like some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) remain undecided…

The reason we’re still wondering if Palin and Christie will get in the race is because it is becoming likely that whomever the GOP nominates, if they are just a credible alternative, will be the next President.  For a Republican, 2012 might be the easiest year to run, ever.

Setting aside the usual “its a long time and anything can happen” caveats, the political dynamic is shaping up to be excruciating for President Obama and his Democrats.  Only a sharp pivot away from liberalism can possibly change things sufficiently by November, 2012…and any such pivot opens up the prospect of ultra-liberals staying home, or opting for a Third Party candidate.  An incredible run of luck can still save Obama’s bacon, but that is just about it.

So, Republicans, choose with care – the guy or gal we nominate is whom we’re likely to be stuck with for four years.  No do-overs.

Obamunism! Michelle Obama’s Lavish Lifestyle

From the Mail:

The Obamas’ summer break on Martha’s Vineyard has already been branded a PR disaster after the couple arrived four hours apart on separate government jets.

But according to new reports, this is the least of their extravagances.

White House sources today claimed that the First Lady has spent $10 million of U.S. taxpayers’ money on vacations alone in the past year…

The exact dollar amount isn’t really all that important – what is important i that, clearly, the First Lady has been living a high end lifestyle while America has sunk further in to debt and poverty.  This is just insensitive…and unwise; if Michelle Obama cares anything for her husband’s political future, she’ll knock it off.

Under the best of circumstances, moving the President around takes a lot of money…just in actual staff the bill is huge.  When you add in the cost of staying some place, providing food and then the complex security arrangements necessary for the President, you start to get in to mind-boggling figures.  President and Mrs. Obama should have a little more sense – sure, the President does need a vacation.  It is the most demanding job in the world…but the White House is pretty swell and Camp David is nearby.

Hopefully the mounting criticism of the President will force a bit of re-thinking on the part of the Obamas.  It is time to live cheap, while America tries to recover.

Why Liberals Hate the “Conscience Exemption”

From Life News:

A new study provides more good news for pro-life advocates, as it shows fewer doctors are willing to perform abortions than before — creating a situation where the lower availability of abortion may be helping to reduce abortions.

The new report, published today in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology, finds 97 percent of physicians surveyed say they have encountered patients wanting an abortion while only 14 percent of doctors are willing to do an abortion. That’s lower than the 22 percent of doctors who said they would do an abortion in the last poll, from 2008…

In the main, no doctor who is worthy of the name would perform an elective abortion.  Doctors know better than most that the unborn child is a unique, human life…and anyone committed to healing and saving will have a very hard time getting around this concrete fact.

There has been, over the years, a continual drop in the number of doctors who are willing to perform an elective abortion, greatly cutting in to the availability of the inhuman procedure, even without legislative restrictions.  Because of this, the pro-abortion fanatics are determined to force doctors and other medical professionals to provide abortion and other anti-life medical procedures – these people fought hard to ensure that ObamaCare had no meaningful “conscience” clause for medical providers who feel that things like birth control and abortion are immoral…and the pro-aborts will keep at it.  And here’s the bad news – as long as Roe is recognized as the law of the land, they are in a strong position.

If abortion is a right – and if health care is a right – then no doctor can refuse to perform whatever medical procedure a patient orders.  That, right there, shows that asserting a right to an abortion is absurd – no human right can ever denigrate another human right…you do have a right to choose, but this includes the right to choose “no” when asked to participate in an abortion.  But this bit of common-sense doesn’t matter to the pro-aborts…they just want their anti-life agenda to become absolutely the law of the land, and they’ll use every tool they’ve got…including asinine judicial rulings such as Roe.  And if they have to forcibly conscript our doctors and nurses in to the abortion industry, they’ll do it in the name of a “right” to an abortion.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it – the issue of life is the most important issue facing us today.  Next to it, issues such as the debt, the economy, war and all the rest fade to insignificance.  Whether or not we survive as a people depends on what we do about life.  Look around the world today and what do you see?  A dying world.  All of the nations of the Earth are locked in a dance with death.  Only a few nations retain a robust birth rate…while some nations have already entered terminal population decline (meaning that unless there is a massive turn-around in the birth rate, they will die out, as nations, within a bit more than a century).

We here in the United States are barely increasing – and a lot of that increase is due to recent immigrants, who haven’t quite been as poisoned by the Culture of Death as native people.  But even the nations the immigrants come from are now rapidly falling in to death…our illegal immigrant problem from Mexico will shortly solve itself…believe it or not, the Culture of Death has so corrupted Mexico that Mexican women (once know for their fertility) are not having children.  Our source of cheap, imported labor is drying up at the source.

I can’t really explain the motivation of those on the side of death – certainly there is an element of despair in them (likely stemming from some species of non serviam coming from the Enemy), but I’m at a loss to fully explain why they want us to die.  The only thing I know for certain is we must fight and destroy the Culture of Death.  We must not say that Life and anti-life are equal and worthy of respect…the pro-abort position is an illegitimate abomination, which can only be adhered to out of rank ignorance, or simple wickedness.  All our policies must be geared towards encouraging men and women to marry and have children, and providing them with the economic and legal basis to sustain a decent household for the raising of children.  Anything which detracts from this must be hindered, all that advances it must be fostered.

Remember, then, why you are fighting for small government, low taxes, sensible regulations, strong morals, decent education and religious liberty…not for your own self, but for all of those here today, and for those who come after.  All our efforts are not for political victory or so we can make money, or bomb our enemies to smithereens…but just so Joe and Jane Average can get married, have kids and raise them in a decent society.  If you’re not fighting for that, then you’re not fighting for anything worthwhile.

The Fruits of 2010

It wasn’t just a House majority – from the AP:

The odds of getting re-elected have gotten better for Rep. Renee Ellmers and other Republican freshmen in the House – thanks to GOP calculations in redrawing congressional maps.

The 47-year-old nurse who ousted seven-term Democrat Bob Etheridge by fewer than 1,500 votes last November will be running next year in a newly drawn North Carolina district that’s less swing and more Republican. The outlook is brighter too for Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold, a conservative talk radio host who edged 14-term Democrat Solomon Ortiz by just 797 votes. Farenthold will find more Republicans in a Corpus Christi-based district that now stretches north…

Lost in all the hoopla over 2010 is the fact that while Democrats were beaten badly in the House, they were crushed in the States.  The GOP is in total political control of 26 States and has a good deal of power in most of the remainder – and this re-districting will be the first since the 1921 re-districting where the GOP mostly controls the process.  For 90 years we Republicans have mostly run in the political universe Democrats made for us…but outside of a few Democrat strong-holds (Illinois, eg), that is no longer the case.  It was at the State level where the revolution really took hold…and the failed, $20 million effort by Democrats to reverse that revolution in Wisconsin shows that Democrat power in America mostly rests on the fact that we are still waiting for a Presidential election to make it fully national.

In the article, you can find quotes by Democrats who are talking big about how this or that re-districting effort will help them…as if they really have a chance of re-capturing the House in 2012 because Obama will bring out the liberal voters…none of whom, of course, are dismayed by what has happened since 2008.  Fat chance, Democrats…you’ll be lucky if you only lost a dozen House and half a dozen Senate seats next year.  And you only get that if things go really well and Obama is re-elected…there is  just as good a chance of 30 House and 12 Senate seats falling to the GOP.

We will win this Revolution, Americans.  The people are on our side and we’ve obtained the power to ensure that Democrats aren’t able to lie, cheat and steal their way in to continued power.  We will have them – and we will restore America.

Now We’re Exporting our Heroes, Too?

Rather astounding story by Ron Radosh over at Pajamas Media:

The new statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. opened on the National Mall yesterday, with much hoopla as well as with much controversy. It was sculpted by a Chinese artist named Lei Yixin…

Denver based artist Ed Dwight, who was on the planning committee for the King memorial, was anything but happy. Dr. King, Dwight said,  “would be turning over in his grave if he knew that the artist who sculpted King was from a Communist country.” Others added that they thought King looked confrontational, and that his face looked Asian rather than American…

I’m not turning over in my grave, but only because I’m not dead yet.  If I were, I’d be spinning so fast that Earth would be knocked off its axis.  Why in heck as a Chinese artist chosen to sculpt an American icon?  Does someone want to assert to me that there wasn’t a single American artist capable of doing this?  For crying out loud – how the *%&*)@! did this happen?

The sculptor has made his living by carving statues of Mao…a brutal, in inhuman tyrant with the blood of tens of millions on his hands.  Now this toady of the Chinese communist Ruling Class has carved for us a “socialist realism” statue of one of our greatest Americans.  I am absolutely disgusted.  I want that statue blown up, the rubble put on a rocket and shot in to the sun – I don’t even want the materials used in that sculpture to exist in the world.  Get an American artist to sculpt King!

“Ethical Cleansing”

Have yourself a population which, despite your best efforts, still bitterly clings to old-fashioned morality?  Well, here’s you answer – just get hold of the school system and start brainwashing the kids in to rejecting that old-fashioned morality.  From Life Site News:

Equity policies purporting to combat “homophobia” amount to “ethical cleansing” that aim to eliminate opposing moral views, says the Catholic Civil Rights League of British Columbia.

In a July 6th letter, CCRL BC Director Sean Murphy criticized the BC Civil Liberties Association’s support for an equity policy that passed in the Burnaby school board in June.  The policy aims to combat “heterosexism,” which it defines as the “assumption that all people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior and more desirable for all people than any other sexual orientation.”…

Which works out, in practice, to a program of telling the kiddies that being gay is just as good (well, better, really) than being straight. As I’ve been saying for many years now, the so-called “gay rights” movement is not about securing tolerance for homosexuals but is instead an effort to legally enforce the notion that homosexuality is morally the same as heterosexuality.  The activists (which are not by any means the same as all gay people – quite a few of whom want no part of the totalitarian nonsense of the gay left) don’t want to be free to live their own lives…they want to grab hold of society and shape it to fit their ideas of what is right and wrong.  It is a legislation of morality they want – their own morality, as opposed to the morality held by the overwhelming majority.

In my view, the ultimate reason for this is that most gay people probably realize, deep down inside, that they are doing things they ought not to.  Understanding that gay people can have a deep-seated attraction to members of the same sex, it still sits there quite starkly – sex is not just for personal pleasure; ultimately, its purpose is children, and sex which is not at least in theory for the creation of children is disordered sex (s0, yes, liberals; older couples past their time and infertile couples can still have sex…because it isn’t absolutely impossible that a child will result, as is the case when two men engage in sex).  But with this realization there is still the very strong desire to do what they do…and whenever someone does something, it is nearly automatic that they will seek to rationalize their action…and also to seek approval of their peers.  Its the difference between a gay person knowing his neighbor resignedly tolerates his behavior and his neighbor actively applauding it.  Gay rights people want the applause.

And, so, “ethical cleansing” – a clearing out of the public square any hint that some where, some how, someone might have an objection to homosexual sex.  Not good enough to be tolerated; not good enough that every sign of unjust discrimination is removed; it must be a societal approval of homosexuality as being the same as heterosexuality.  We must instruct the children, regardless of their parent’s wishes, that if they choose to engage in homosexual sex, it is perfectly ok…great, laudable…something to be proud of.  And anyone who disagrees is a homophobic bigot.

This species of liberal fascism must be stopped – we must not allow liberal ideologues, for whatever reason, to undermine the inculcation of parental morality.  If a parent wishes to teach his child that homosexuality is the same as heterosexuality, that is fine…wrong, but within parental rights.  But if a parent wishes to teach that homosexual sex is inherently disordered and can never be approved, that is also within parental rights…and we can’t have the public school system saying otherwise.  At bottom, if you can’t get a societal consensus on teaching a certain moral precept, then the public school must not teach it.  The issue of homosexuality is not one of those issues we can all agree on (like, say, teaching that stealing is bad) – so it is better for the schools to remain silent on the subject and let each set of parents impart what knowledge they will.  Might lead to a wide variety of opinions and this wouldn’t be conducive to a liberal-fascist world view, but it would be just and workable.

The New Yorker Upset That Perry Has Testicles

Sorry for the crudity, but I really can’t describe this any other way – from The New Yorker via Ann Althouse:

…Perry is the first graduate of Texas A & M to govern Texas. When he was a freshman, in 1968, the student body looked much like him: white, male, determinedly rural. Aggie jokes of the country-bumpkin variety are still standard fare in Texas. (“How many Aggies does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, but he gets three hours of credit.”) At A & M, Perry ran the winning campaign of his friend John Sharp for student-body president. In response, Sharp got his friend elected one of the campus’s five “yell leaders”—male cheerleaders. Perry considered being a yeller the higher office. A typical yell is: “Squads left! Squads right! / Farmers, farmers, we’re all right! / Load, ready, aim, fire, BOOM!” During tense moments in a football game, yellers grab their balls and shout, “Squeeze, Aggies!”…

As one comment noted over at Instapundit put it, the worry here for liberals is that Perry apparently has a pair to squeeze.

If you read the whole article, it is just a crude attempt to paint Governor Perry as some sort of overly masculine cowboy-barbarian…not at all like sweet, gentle, Ivy League-educated George Bush.  To be sure, “Squeeze, Aggies!” is bizarre – but, then again, its Texas.  The bottom line is that they tend to shoot at the people who need to be shot and back up those who deserve help; you really have to be some post-modernist metrosexual to get your nighty in a knot over Texas…so, naturally, liberals are well knotted.

They are deathly afraid of Rick Perry….perhaps even more fearful than they have ever been about Sarah Palin.  The thing about Perry (and Palin and Bachmann and Cain) is that they are just regular folks from the heartland who live and believe like regular Americans.  If they think about the Ruling Class, at all, it is with a mixture of bemusement and contempt.  People like Perry really will go to DC to change things…and not care a whit whether or not the Ruling Class is offended by it.

And it will be one heck of a lot of fun to watch…

Wall Street Expects Fed Money Printing

From Bloomberg:

Stocks surged on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq up more than 2 percent, as buyers emerged before a highly anticipated address by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke later this week.

Technology and other growth stocks drove much of the market’s gains, with the S&P Information Technology Index .GSPF up 2.4 percent.

A weaker-than-expected reading of the U.S. housing sector was the latest in a string of discouraging data that has raised expectations the Fed will take measures to prop up the economy…

Also hoping for a bit of Fed printing would be Obama and his Democrats…because only a boatload of “free” money can keep our financial system from falling apart over the next month or two, leading to a pretty bad recession.  Thing is, I don’t know if it would work – or, at least, work well enough to keep us out of official recession through the 2012 election.  A lot of observers are figuring that Bernanke has shot his bolt…all he can do by printing at this point is massively stoke inflation by killing the value of the dollar.  And, of course, even if Bernanke and the Banksters keep things afloat through 2012, it would be just scheduling a massive recession for 2013…that wouldn’t bother Obama, of course, because by then he’ll never have to face the voters again.

We’ll see how it comes out – but do note with care the sickness of our financial elite….hoping that the government will essentially steal your money via inflation in order to bail them out.  Gigantic reforms need to be undertaken to create a free, transparent market where Wall Street gamblers are replaced by careful investors.
