A Fun Way to Mess With Obama

From Instapundit:

SPEAKING OF IDEAS THAT THE GOP COULD OFFER, I think a series of legislative proposals aimed at implementing promises Obama made in 2008 would be fun and politically profitable: Cutting the deficit in half, closing the revolving door between government and business (my USA Today column this week will be on that one), implementing greater transparency, etc. Just send one bill after another over to the Senate. . . .

Agreed – perfect idea.  Of course, Obama and his slavish media would try to pretend that all that is just rot…but if we did do it – and keep doing it – then it would start to impress itself on the public mind, and that would work to our benefit.

Part 357, obAMATEUR Hypocrite…..

This says it all….

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” he said. “It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.” – Senator Barack Hussein Obama 2006

What changed?

Oh, that’s right he is now pResident.

By his own words, he has marked his pResidency a failure.  He has marked his leadership a failure.  He alone has shifted $6 trillion in debt to our children and grand-children.  He certainly has not led on the debt issue.  He has not lead on deficit reduction.  He just issues smug threats while generating fear amongst our citizens, especially the elderly – threatening them with non-payment of their Social Security.   He has not issued a budget, nor has Harry Reid passed a budget in almost four years.

Just more of the same…. while Democrats are out of power they make grandiose speeches against debt, deficits and irresponsible spending.  They regain power and everything they have said before is long forgotten.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan:  From Instapundit:

READER DENNIS MULCARE WRITES: “Perhaps, if you can encourage your readers to have their young children write Obama about their angst regarding the national debt, he will publish 23 ways to address federal spending.”

Rush Nails It!

I, like Mark Levin, am so disappointed and infuriated with this wanna-be imperial President that I have had to detach myself from the political scene as of late. I no longer watch any political shows nor do I listen to talk radio much anymore with the exception of ocassionally tuning in to Hugh Hewitt and Rush. I didn’t hear this the other day on Rush, but I did read the transcript this morning, and his take on the POTUS, and Washington DC, is about as spot on as I have read in a long time. In his words:

RUSH: Let me tell you what I think, and I’m gonna tell you this in a balanced way — a balanced and fair way. What I think is really going on here is our president, Barack Obama, if you’ll note, really never talks about plans and proposals to solve problems. What he does is position his political opponents as the enemy. Everything he did today in the debt limit Q&A in his press conference, and even in the setup, was about the enemy. The Republicans are the enemy.

He’s not proposing solutions to anything. He’s not interested in solutions. As far as Obama’s concerned, there isn’t a problem, other than the existence of opposition to him. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. The biggest problem to Obama is the existence of opposition. And I’m telling you: I firmly believe everything going on in Washington today — everything inside the Beltway, in the media, in the think tanks, in the halls of Congress, everything — is oriented toward eliminating a viable opposition. Be it on the radio, be it on television, be it in Congress, wherever.

I think both parties have this goal. I think the Republican establishment is of the same frame of mind as Obama is, that the opposition is conservatives. The opposition is conservatism. And that’s why we’ve had some people ask me, “What was Colin Powell doing?” Colin Powell was on Meet the Press yesterday doing what Scarborough did on MSNBC this morning, which is what a lot of Republicans are doing, and that is criticizing conservatives. Every problem we’ve got, from the gridlock to intransigence to spending, it’s all the fault of conservatives.

And even the Republican establishment agrees with this………..To understand everything happening in Washington, understand that the objective is the elimination of any serious potentially viable political opposition to Barack Obama and the Democrats.

The Obama press conference yesterday was an embarrassment. Now mind you, I didn’t watch it because I refuse to listen to anything this man child says, but I did read the transcript and what struck me was the whining by the POTUS, mainly about how others speak of him. Does he think he is above criticism? He accuses others of wanting to throw old people off of a cliff, and starve autistic children, BUT he is offended if someone refers to him as a “big spending Socialist”? I thought spending was his recipe to turn this economy around, and I thought progressives, such as he, thought that socialism was preferable to capitalism. So what is there to be offended about? He should embrace his socialist tendencies, after all that his what his base elected him for.

The fact is, he is not offended, he is simply trying to eliminate his opposition through ridicule and shame. He has repeatedly said that if Congress doesn’t act on any particular issue, then he will act unilaterally, and by refusing to compromise and keeping his opponents on the defense, he will be able to act unilaterally aided by a complicit media and Senate that encourages him every step of the way. Gun control is the latest “crisis” that Obama will unilaterally act on, as he is being encouraged to do, but this is just the first “crisis” of his second term. There will be many more to follow, and through these manufactured crisis’s, will come executive fiat. Welcome to your very own Banana Republic.

Regardless of the “fiscal cliff” issue – obAMATEUR WILL RAISE TAXES on EVERYONE Regardless of Income!!!

ObAMACARE is coming and it will affect EVERYONE regardless of income.  Open your wallets – BOHICA!

http://www.atr.org/trillion-obamacare-tax-hike-hitting-jan-a7393

How soon does everyone forget! – especially the mindless drones of the DEMOCRATS and the WHITE HOUSE.

There is more to come!  Remember, “we have to pass the healthcare bill in order to see what is in it” – the former (fortunately for us) speaker from Haite-Ashbury.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan:  A good point…if we let taxes rise then we’ll essentially just be sticking Americans with the bill for President Obama.  Obama cruised to re-election partially because taxes remained low while Obama went on a spending binge.  Now we have a chance to square accounts and let people know just what Obama and his Democrats are costing…and that might make people think differently in 2014 and 2016.  People thought that Hope and Change meant free stuff…well, it did…until now.

UPDATE II, by Mark Noonan:  One of the alleged worries about going over the fiscal cliff is that the mandated cuts in spending will force us in to recession.  One can only believe this sort of idiocy if one believes that government spending got us out of the Great Depression.  Of course, any reasonable observer of what happened – ie, the Great Depression continued in unabated force as both Hoover and FDR ramped up government spending – knows that government spending didn’t do a darned thing to help the American economy.  And its not doing anything to help, now – in fact, by grossly misallocating resources based upon purely political considerations, its likely making the economy worse.  For those, however, who want to persist in thinking that the spending cuts will harm the economy, here is a report showing that the “multiplier effect” of government spending is zero.

As for me, I believe we re-entered recession some months ago…and we’re back in recession because government tax and regulatory policy has crippled America’s productive capacity.  Here’s a news flash:  if you don’t make, mine and grow as much stuff as you used to, you won’t be as rich as you once were.  Period.  End of story.  The fix lies in changing the tax and regulatory stance of the government to be pro-growth…and to cut spending so that we don’t have a complete financial melt-down spinning us in to decades-long recession.

UPDATE III, by Mark Noonan:  The NY Post has an article about people, once told how much their taxes will rise, are getting upset.  Good.  Given that the biggest bite will be among people who live in blue areas of the country, it is only just that they pay the piper for their absurd vote for Obama.  Oh, to be sure, it’ll hit me, too…but I live in a low-tax State and so I’ll be hit less than New Yorkers and Californians.  Boys and girls, ultimately the 2012 election was all about the fiscal cliff – meaning how to deal with spending and taxes to deal with the gigantic bill Obama and his Democrats have run up since 2009.  That people preferred to concentrate on how mean Romney was because he was rich or wanted to talk about their lady parts or worried that birth control wouldn’t be “free” is not my problem…here is reality:  we’re broke.  Obama has bankrupted the United States – and its either take a huge hit in taxes or give up the free stuff.  Pick one.

Nader: Obama Worse Than Bush

Breitbart has the video of Nader discussing Obama.  Nader does have some major blind spots – first off in saying that Obama is failing because he knows the law and yet he violates it.  This, to me, is a failure on the part of Nader to understand that people like Obama don’t even know what a law is.  But Nader is also pretty upset with Obama on the way Obama has been running the war – essentially calling Obama a worse war criminal than Bush.

First off, I’d like to say that I deprecate the whole concept of “war crime”.  There are, of course, laws of war – things which have been held to be right and proper for ages.  Such things as not going on a rampage of rape, looting and murder.  Things like accepting an honorable surrender and treating the captive decently.  But these are things for honorable soldiers with proper morality – when dealing with people who have deliberately set themselves outside of all morality, then it becomes a bit different.  The honorable soldier will still refrain from senseless brutality, but he isn’t bound to treat an inhuman adversary as if he were humane.  The biggest example of war crimes, of course, were in Nazi Germany – but it was absurd of us to put the captured Nazis on trial as if judging them by our standards in a court would some how make right what was done.  How can one exact justice against someone who organized the mass murder of millions?  Who deliberately broke the peace simply to grab wealth from others?  You can’t – once the millionth person was done to death in a Nazi death camp then no amount of judicial sentence could ever balance the scales of justice.  We should, instead of bothering with all that (and especially without putting on the bench Soviet judges which represented a regime just as hideously anti-human as the Nazi regime on trial), just taken out whichever Nazis we felt were most responsible and shot them one, fine morning.  It wouldn’t have been a matter of justice – it couldn’t be a matter of justice; it was a matter of disposing of people who had outlawed themselves in the fullest sense of the word (but Mark, you’re a Christian – what about mercy?  Indeed, and people with a sense of honor would have tried to discern whom among the captive Nazis should get that mercy…and be let go; by trying to be “legal” about it we ended up hanging someone as trivial as Ribbentrop while letting off someone as crucial to Nazi power and cruelty as Alfried Krupp).

It is, then, impossible for us to commit a war crime against the Islamists we fight against – these are people who will murder a Christian for nothing (and rape his daughter and burn his church, in to the bargain).  These are people who will strap a bomb on a kid and send him off to commit mass murder in a shopping mall.  These are people who have outlawed themselves from human society.  The only reason to take them prisoner, at all, is to obtain information from them.  Outside of that, how is justice served if we were to, say, give a man a 20 year sentence because he organized a campaign of suicide bombings in Afghanistan?  So, when Nader says we are committing war crimes when we drone-attack a jihadist, I disagree with the notion – even when, at times, such attacks end up killing the innocent.  It isn’t our fault that our enemies deliberately hide among non-combatants for the sole purpose of ensuring that innocent people are killed so they can score propaganda points against us.  We still have to fight these people – though a bit of wisdom at this point would lead us to withdraw completely or steel ourselves to going after the ultimate sources of the trouble:  the money-bags in the oil States and the government of Iran.  Be that as it may, we are at this point fighting them, and it not only isn’t a crime to do so, it is impossible for it to ever be a crime.

Nader reflects a certain, hard-left disappointment with Obama – a feeling, correct in a lot of ways, that Obama has not been what he promised to be.  Schooled his whole life to believe that the left is in favor of peace, prosperity and freedom, someone like Nader just doesn’t know what to do with an Obama who doesn’t make peace, doesn’t create prosperity and is clearly uninterested in individual freedom for average folks.  Part of this comes from a failure to understand that the left has an inherent problem in getting to any of these desired results.  Nader, honest as he is, simply does not understand that a large government setting out to, for instance, create prosperity is in an impossible situation:  the thing can’t be done.  Even the most benevolent government, grown large, can only get in the way.  But, still, you can see his point:  clearly Obama is not carrying out the programs and policies which leftists believe will bring peace, prosperity and freedom.

It still astounds me that Obama managed to win a second term:  the only people actually benefiting from Obama policies are those who are getting a rake-off via government contracts and grants.  For 90% of Americans, Obama’s Administration has been a net loss.  I can see why dyed-in-the-wool Democrats voted for Obama, but they only make up about 35% of the electorate (at best) and Obama got over 50% of the vote…which means a very large number of people who aren’t just mindlessly Democrat and/or personally profiting off of Obama voted to re-elect this man who has not a single policy success to his name.  The fact that Nader – and some other hard left people – are taking Obama to task just makes it more remarkable that we’ve got Obama for four more years.

Nader is right about this:  Obama is far worse than Bush.  Far worse than anyone we’ve ever had in the White House.  I’d welcome back a combination Carter and Nixon and figure we’re coming out ahead of the game, right about now.  The combination of dishonesty, insensitivity, lack of patriotism, old-school Chicago graft and a general sense that Obama is happy to see us decline at times makes me sick at heart for our country.  I can only imagine how much worse it must be for a true blue leftist:  here was a man (and a black man!) who had dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s of true-blue leftism and yet he manages to get elected…and then he goes about messing up so badly that when he is replaced, the whole concept of leftism will be in disgrace for a generation.  Just as after Carter left office no one would call themselves a “liberal” for more than a decade, so it will be after Obama leaves…people will be ashamed to be thought of as being in any way like Obama.  And for someone like Nader, that is tragic because his whole life has been a sincere (if muddleheaded) quest for a leftist settlement in the United States.

It is to be hoped that there will be an awakening from this – as I hope my fellow conservatives will awaken to the fact that Big Corporation is a bane, so I hope that honest leftists like Nader will awaken to the fact that Big Government is also a bane…and a worse bane than Big Corporation.  You can, if you want, be a leftist and be against government – the only fundamental change is to understand that whatever social changes you want will have to be done via education and at the local level, not by the heavy club of government because such clubs are always eventually wielded by someone like Obama.

Proggies Act Surprised ….. We Told You So!

“On Obamacare……

As a result of obAMATEUR’s re-election and the highly improbability that ObamaCare being repealed, we’ve had several businesses come forward and state that this is going to affect the number of workers they have and hours they can work – two of them are  CEO of Papa Johns John Schnatter and Applebees franchisee owner Zane Tankel.  While these aren’t the only two, they are the latest business owners who have publicly stated the harmful impact that ObamaCare will have on their businesses, their workers’ jobs and benefits.

The proggies are “shocked”.  They took to Twitter to demonize these business owners (hey they learned from the professional agitator using Alinski, his mentor’s tactics) , and pushing for others to boycott their businesses.  Hey you proggies – Can’t say you weren’t warned!  Business owners have been out there telling you exactly what you had coming to you if obAMATEUR was re-elected and ObamaCare stayed the law of the land.  Of course, you chose not to listen to those warnings.  It doesn’t make it these business owner’s problems! We told you so!!!

On to raising taxes……..

obAMATEUR is consumed with obsession about raising taxes on the “rich”.  We hear it in the press about his “wanting to make a deal” with Republicans for the so-called “balanced approach”.  All we have heard so far is the raising taxes on the “wealthy” – some balanced approach!  The complicit media (aka the propaganda arm of the White House) has done nothing but interview Republican and talk about raising taxes.  They have yet to question the obAMATEUR about the other half of the “balanced approach” – spending cuts.  Recently, on Good Morning America, they stated concern how “spending cuts will affect the economy”!  Excuse me?  We have seen MASSIVE government spending stagnate an economy.  We have proof that tax cuts work – several instances in fact.  Even the CBO disagrees with the lopsided “balanced approach” on raising taxes – Raising taxes has nothing to do with our fiscal cliff and getting our finances in order..

Just how much deficit reduction would Obama’s tax hikes on the rich necessarily accomplish?

Nothing, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Letting tax rates rise to Clinton era levels for those families making over $250,000 a year would only raise $824 billion over ten years. That is not even enough revenue to undo the sequester that Obama promised “will not happen” during his final debate with Mitt Romney.”

If we gave you your way and CONFISCATED ALL THE WEALTH of the so-called targeted “wealthy”, you would have enough money to run the government for a few months.  That’s it!!!  We have a spending problem in this country.  This pResident who has ran up the debt than the first 42 presidents COMBINED!  Again, it is not our problem that you PREDICTABLY ignored FACTS and re-elected this buffoon.  We told you so!!!

More recent higher jobless claims ….

We now have 439,000 new jobless claims for the first full week after the disastrous reelection of the “one we have been waiting for” – the obAMATEUR and I do mean AMATEUR!  Pennsylvania and Ohio led the pack.  Two unionized states.  Two crucial states won by obAMATEUR.  The obAMATEUR sycophants are trying to put the best possible spin on these numbers — saying that they’re due to layoffs from Hurricane Sandy.  What utter CRAP!.  Layoffs in Ohio?  Pennsylvania?  Heavy union states?  We had New Jersey turn away NON UNION ELECTRICAL WORKERS, as an example of their dedication to union labor even in a disaster such as this!!!!

These layoffs are the direct result of re-electing this anti-business failure (a failure at everything he has put his hands on) of a pResident.  Businesses have been struggling that last four years.  There has been no recovery.  There have been BILLIONS of dollars spent by these businesses to comply with new regulations coming from this White House and the EPA.  The EPA will soon unleash the flood of new so-called “clean air” rules that will send energy costs through the roof.  Taxes on small business owners are going to rise.  Capital gains taxes on investors – going up.  There is absolutely NOTHING on the horizon with four more years of obAMATEUR that gives one iota of hope for a better business and economic climate ahead.  So … it’s time to go lean … and that’s just what these businesses are doing.  They’re shedding employees to get under the ObamaCare threshold. They’re looking for ways to get more efficient so that they can rid themselves of unnecessary workers.  As a result we see jobless claims are on the rise .. the highest number since the middle of 2011.

The obAMATEUR, his sycophants, drones and lemmings want to blame it on the storm.  Well .. .they’re half-right.  It’s a storm all right, but not Hurricane Sandy.  It’s the storm of taxes and regulations that are coming with the reelection of an anti-business, tax and spend president.

Elections have consequences.  Here’s your pink slip.  Enjoy.  And if you’re an obAMATEUR voter, I’m enjoying it right along with you.  You did it to yourselves.  We told you so!!!

November Surprise

Of which there could be two. The first surprise would be the most damning and that is the possible revelation and existence of emails ordering counter terrorism groups in the area of Benghazi to stand down, which of course would be tantamount to outright sacrificing the lives of those four Americans. If this is true, this is grounds for impeachment. Honestly, I hope it’s not true. I don’t want to think that this administration, or any administration, would be so callous with American lives in what is obviously very dangerous territory all in an effort to shield criticism from their own foreign policy efforts. It has been over 6 weeks since our Ambassador was murdered and the President has yet to hold a press conference, or even answer a difficult question on the subject. He did however have the courage to blame America for the first couple of weeks.

The next surprise is hardly a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention, but will be terribly inconvenient to the President and that is the corruption, bankruptcies and questionable stock sales involved in the green energy stimulus money. More and more is coming to light and ensnaring the Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and his sons as well. I have a feeling that time will reveal that the Obama regime may go down in history as the most corrupt and incompetent administration ever.

An Open Letter to NBC

I wrote this to NBC news earlier today, but it could be easily applied to any of the fellow-traveler networks:

Dear NBC News:

You no doubt have now heard the news that the Obama administration’s Situation Room had received word of the terrorist nature of the Benghazi attack no later than two hours after it began. They did NOTHING to protect the lives of those in the Embassy compound. President Obama went to sleep, then jetted off to Las Vegas to raise campaign cash, meanwhile, relying on a manufactured cover story of some locals being riled up over a YouTube video that wasn’t seen.

There wasn’t any report in the cables or emails about a protest preceding the attack. The attack lasted over 7 hours before the final two occupants of the compound were murdered. And the Obama administration did NOTHING to help. Instead, they continued their COVER-UP of the video story, for WEEKS afterward and they even got to the point where they buy youtube views to make the video popular.

I listened to the NBC news top of the hour radio broadcast. Not ONE WORD of the above. Just Obama giving his “Romnesia” line, and something about his jetting 5000 or so miles today campaigning.

What– somehow you don’t think that these developments in Benghazi are NEWSWORTHY? That the administration not only knew of the attack, but refused to take action to protect the embassy occupants? And then, COVERED IT UP, LYING about the nature of the attack, and making his underlings spread his propaganda, FOR WEEKS, until the cover story collapsed under the weight of contrary evidence?

Not to mention that there remains an INNOCENT man still sitting in jail! Los Angeles Bail Bond offices voiced their opinions over this injustice in a collective voice that had almost no ear from the government. (Don’t tell me it had nothing to do with Obama’s cover story!!))

WHERE ARE WOODWARD AND BERNSTEIN????

Are you SO enamored, so infatuated with this president, that you, the press, are willing to be derelict to your Constitutional First Amendment duty and to cover up for his abject malfeasance? They did that with State-Controlled media in Soviet Russia. They do that in China. They have no choice. YOU HAVE A CHOICE!!

Are you that devoid of conscience???

DO YOUR JOURNALISTIC DUTY

******UPDATE******

It took long enough, but ABC News is finally beginning to grow a pair:

NBC still doesn’t have word one about this story on their website.

abcnews.go.com

Congressional Republicans ask why Obama described attacks as response to film.

Obama Lied Again

Late last night it was revealed that emails detailing the attacks in Benghazi were sent from Tripoli to the State Dept. in Washington and the EOP (executive office of the President). The emails were sent while the attack was on going, and stated that Ansar al Sharia had claimed responsibility. No where in the emails did it refer to the you tube video, or that the attacks were spontaneous in nature. The emails were received by several officials at the State Dept., the FBI, and at least two officials in the White House. For two weeks following the attack, the administration lied to the American people and to this very day, our President still has not told the truth. What’s even more egregious is the fact that Obama blamed America for the attack, arrested the producer of the video, and characterized the deaths of our four Americans as “bumps in the road”.

This inexcusable action on behalf of the Obama administration rises to the level of impeachment, and if he somehow wins reelection, I for one will not stop until impeachment proceedings begin.
