Weekend Open Thread – Gross Negligence Version

Democrats are desperately trying to paint Hillary’s server debacle as simply a partisan attack with no “there there” following Kevin McCarthy’s comment, but the FBI has another term for it – Gross Negligence, which carries a possible ten year sentence and there is no doubt that she is guilty:

Under 18 USC 793 subsection F, the information does not have to be classified to count as a violation. The intelligence source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity citing the sensitivity of the ongoing probe, said the subsection requires the “lawful possession” of national defense information by a security clearance holder who “through gross negligence,” such as the use of an unsecure computer network, permits the material to be removed or abstracted from its proper, secure location.

Through deleting emails after being notified to turn over her server, to allowing her attorney, without security clearance, to have a flash drive of those sensitive emails, Hillary has violated federal law through those two actions alone. But I think what Hillary is really trying to cover up more than anything else is her communiqué with long time friend Sydney Blumenthal who was on the ground in Libya and allegedly encouraging Hillary to push Obama to move forward and depose Gaddafi. Why? Sydney felt that he could financially benefit from working with the new government in Libya, and if proven to be true, this would be the greatest scandal in American history. At the very least, Hillary helped depose a foreign leader who posed no imminent threat and left the country in complete shambles and a vacuum of which was filled by jihadists. Judgement like that is a complete disqualifier for POTUS.

On another disturbing note, the weakness of Obama continues to make life miserable for people around the world and he could care less. Obama’s indifference to the full out assault on Israeli’s by emboldened Palestinians is shameful and lays to rest the question of whose side Obama is really on. There is no question that through his actions, Obama has turned his back on Israel and has abandoned the long established relationship we have with the Middle East’s only democracy.

These are interesting times and decent civilized people had better wake up, pay attention, and do what is needed to defeat the current assault on democracy, personal freedom, common sense, and civility. And the greatest threat resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Hope and Change

Last nights Democrat debate was déjà vu all over again. Every issue and position last night was discussed in the same manner, with the same rhetoric as it was 8 years ago, ie; “we need to invest in infrastructure”, “we need to invest in clean energy”, “we need to make the rich pay their fair share”, “millionaires and billionaires are ruining this country”, “republican war on women”, republican obstructionism”, “mass incarceration”, “leading from behind” etc, etc. And then of course we heard the usual populist giveaway ideas; free college tuition, expanded Medicare, and expanded family leave, along with the now obligatory deference to the BLM movement. A couple of my favorite moments was when Hillary said that she walked over to Wall Street and told the investment bankers to “knock it off”, and then when she stated that she didn’t take a position on Keystone, until she did take a position on Keystone. Those are two fine examples of leadership aren’t they?

The Democrats are again running on Hope and Change, and are seemingly prepared to say whatever they have to, too curry favor with whatever audience they are in front of. Not once did we hear specific policy ideas on any pressing issues. Instead we heard nothing more than populist platitudes and empty political rhetoric. Hint to the political class: if you have been working for over 30 years on all of these unresolved problems, it is time to step aside and let someone else give it a try. But of course all Democrats, and most current Republicans, have no interest in resolving problems, preferring instead to keep the wheel barrels of K street cash rolling in, and too keep average Americans at each others throats over divisive issues.

Things are going so badly for the Obama administration on foreign policy that it just might be time for another speech on Climate Change. This post has to be sarcastic in nature because of the fact that the reality is so devastating that it is hard to comprehend. Putin has shown the world how feckless Obama is on the world stage and has upstaged and outwitted Obama at every turn. The sight of John Francois Kerry standing next to his Russian counterpart yesterday speaking of “deconfliction” was an absolute embarrassment. In the foreign policy debate of the 2012 campaign, Mitt Romney correctly pointed out that Russia was our main geo political foe, a comment of which was met with ridicule from our Idiot in Chief, and the idiot is now confronted with that exact reality. Obama is no match for Putin, and Putin knows it. In fact the world knows it. The United States of America has been marginalized in the eyes of our allies, and mocked by our foes and that is hard to take for those of us who actually care about this country. The USA is presently in more danger than at any other time in it’s history and all you need to know about our political opponents is that they still consider Republicans to be more of a threat than any current external force. The Democrats and the Progressive media are more focused on the defunding of PP, the “right wing conspiracy” against Hillary, and immigration, than they are with the growing threat of ISIS, Russia, and Iran and that fact should alarm everyone. The deal that Obama just cut with Iran poses a monumental threat not just to the stability of the Middle East but to our national security. The single greatest national sponsor of terrorism is Iran, and thanks to Obama they now have the means and the confidence to expand their reach. Our political opponents are as dangerous to this country as any terrorist group could ever be, and we need to treat them as such. We should initiate impeachment proceedings immediately.

I am looking forward to the Fall and the 2016 Campaign battle, and trust me, it will be a battle. The fascist Progressives who currently control the Democrat Party will lie, cheat, steal and personally attack anyone who threatens their hold on power and conservatives had better be prepared to be just as vicious. To hell with political correctness. Conservatives need to understand that we are not dealing with honorable people. This from the American Thinker:

We’re not fighting with honorable men but with people who believe they are better than the rest of us. We are in an ideological conflict with liberals who are at heart monarchists or oligarchists. Liberals reject the rule of law because they believe that they are right and that we should all be forced to live as liberals wish us to live.

Take for example Kim Davis in KY. Here is a city official who refused to uphold a federal law because it violated her conscience and as a result, a gay couple was unable to obtain a marriage license. However in SF, city officials refused to uphold federal law that violated their “collective” conscience, and as a result a young innocent woman was murdered. Guess which occurrence received the most outrage and media attention? I am one conservative who does support gay marriage but wish that the issue would have evolved through the political process and not through a tyrannical edict from Supreme beings. That is what fascism is, and that is who Democrats have become. Democrats are incapable of living in a messy democracy where people are free to be offended and held accountable for their actions, preferring instead to create “safety zones” and “welfare cocoons”. Democrats attack conservatives much more viciously than they attack ISIS, or Putin, or China and because of that, Democrats pose a much bigger threat to our country than any current outside threat. It is time to blow up the political class on both sides of the aisle, hold people accountable, call out the liars, call out the grifters, and tell people like Jorge Ramos to shut up and sit down.

The Unraveling

It’s unfortunate that our country had to get to this point, but the end of our current “progressive” nightmare is near. The free fall of the Dow has exposed the fragility of the economy; the Planned Parenthood debacle has exposed the ugly truth about abortion; the self inspections and recent SAM purchases by Iran have exposed the sheer stupidity of our foreign policy; the Black Lives Matters movement has exposed the failure of liberal social justice policies; and the Hillary email and IRS scandals have exposed the dishonesty of progressive Democrats. It’s all unraveling on every front, right in front of our eyes, let’s hope conservatives can seize the day.

A Hard Left and Into The Ditch

That may be the last sensible thing any elected Democrat ever said. Of course that was a time when sensible Democrats like Evan Bayh, Sam Nunn, and Joe Lieberman were amongst the ranks but those days are gone. Beginning with the election, or as Democrats are fond of saying, the “selection”, of George W Bush the Democrats have been veering left. There was a brief moment in 2001 when the attack on our homeland caused the parties to set aside their differences and focus instead on the growing dangers of the outside world. In fact some of the most impassioned arguments for the Iraq war on the Senate floor came from Democrats Hillary Clinton and Jay Rockefeller. But that unity and that passion would be short lived. As soon as the war became difficult and many Americans became frustrated, the Democrats seized the opportunity and began polarizing the country for political expediency, and that polarization is even more pronounced today.

Over the last decade, the Democratic Party has used every issue possible to divide this country along every societal line; age, race, sex, income, etc. The Democrats have also used every single procedural weapon to push through partisan legislation to the extent of lying on the Senate floor, lying to the American people, and creating and employing the fourth “regulatory” branch of government when Congress opposed them. The Democratic Party has moved so far left over the last decade that their ranks are thinning and their constituencies are dwindling. It’s more than a little embarrassing that the current field of Democrat POTUS candidates are all older, white career politicians, and outside of Julian Castro and Cory Booker, their bench is very weak. By comparison, the GOP is flush with young, talented people including the current field of POTUS candidates but also including folks like Susanna Martinez, Mia Love, Paul Ryan, Raul Labrador, and Trey Gowdy. The Democrats can’t even come close to matching this abundance of young talent. But what is even more perilous for the Democrats is their shrinking base. Their pandering over the last several years has emboldened a few of the more vocal minorities, which is now causing problems for them by continually having to serve more and more of their extreme demands. Just in the last couple of years the Democrats have angered the unions, a bedrock constituency, by appeasing the environmentalists and not approving the Keystone Pipeline. Also, via the fourth branch of government, manufacturing and mining jobs are disappearing and as a consequence so are even more union jobs. I also think that the #blacklivesmatters movement, which is literally taking over the Democratic podium this campaign season, has deeper roots than many want to admit. I think the movement has more to do with the sad plight many black families find themselves in largely as a result of government policies over the last 50 years. Policies of which they have been voting for, and of which were promised to “help” them. These policies have failed them and their community and I think their frustration is being misread to be an anti cop movement, which again is angering the unions. And now, on top of the many failed social and economic justice programs is the open border policies and legalization efforts the Democrats are pushing, which will only serve to flood the already crowded low skilled labor market and drive wages down. Black youth unemployment is over 50% and that will only get worse until we bring new solutions to the table and stop the progressive Democrats from “helping”.

The Democrats have painted themselves into a corner by their zeal for power and control and their incessant pandering to the smallest of grievances over the last several years. According to Real Clear Politics, 63% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, and I highly doubt that that those people are hoping this country would be even more polarized and regulated. I think the most obvious example of how far left the Democrats have gone is the fact that the rival candidate to the Democrat front runner is an admitted socialist and not even a member of the party. From abortion, to immigration, to foreign policy, tt is time to define the Democrats positions just as they are, tenuous and extreme.

Carly Fiorina did very well in the early debate. She is a formidable candidate. Can you imagine a Trump/Fiorina ticket? Speaking of Trump, if he can dial down his ego, add more details to his ideas, and act presidential – he just might run away with this. This will be a fun night, well at least for us political junkies.

The Week That Was

It was a helluva week for the “fundamental transformation” of America brought to you by the fascist progressive minority and the newly minted fourth branch of government – the legislative wing of the Supreme Court. When CJ Roberts ruled on the individual mandate vs tax issue in 2012 I think everyone was a little surprised that he ignored the obvious intent of the legislation that the mandate was a “penalty”, not a tax, because the authors knew very well that selling a tax increase to pass the bill was not an option. Yet the tax angle was the only option to pass Constitutional muster, and Roberts was there to save the authors from themselves in the final ruling. Fast forward three years, once again CJ Roberts ignores the intent of the legislation as expressed by Jonathan Gruber to force State’s to set up exchanges or lose out on Federal subsidies. In order for the numbers to work, the Federal Government needed State’s to set up exchanges so they could pass on the financial burden of the subsidies, yet when many State’s refused to accept that financial burden, or went broke trying to set up exchanges, the entire ACA paradigm was in peril. Enter newly minted SC Legislator Roberts to save the day yet again as he magically waved his wand, reinterpreted the intent and made all the little fascists happy. It is obvious the SC no longer strictly interprets the constitutionality of legislation as it is written. They now have magic powers to see into the hearts of man, assess the intent and rule accordingly. And just a reminder, these folks are not up for election and serve in their positions for life, so in reality it wasn’t a good week for our “representative republic” at least on this issue.

In re: to SSM, I think public sentiment was clearly headed in this direction and despite the numerous failures at the State ballot boxes in recent years, SSM was on a trajectory towards acceptance. Enter the SC Legislative branch, who once again disrupt the natural evolution of democratic reform and impose their position on the issue upon the ignorant masses who are clearly not as evolved and wise as they are. Ironically, had patience won out and State voters were the impetus of change, this issue would not be the rancorous issue it has become. But that possibility was evidently not acceptable to the petulant progressive fascists who once again relied on the Legislative branch of the SC to impose their desires. Again, a bad week for our “representative republic”.

And while we are all adorn in rainbows, love and free health insurance, ISIS is having a field day in exploring new ways to slaughter innocent people. Remember them? I don’t even think Orwell could have envisioned this.

Trump

So the megalomaniac has finally stepped up and entered the POTUS race, something of which he has been saying he would do for quite some time and I have to say from a business standpoint, I am intrigued. I was a big Romney supporter for this same reason and that is I would like to see a successful CEO run this country like a company, not a daycare. Trump had a good line yesterday when he said that the “brand” of the US needs to be great again and I like that train of thought. This country needs to win more often in the negotiating room and on the battlefield. We need to care more about what we think about other countries and less about what they think about us. And make no mistake, Trump has been very successful negotiating with other countries and politicians through the myriad of overseas ventures he runs and other countries are very aware of where he stands and how tough he is to compete with.

I find it amusing how the MSM and progressives are bashing Trump over his ego, yet they found the same quality in Obama to be inspiring. Remember when Obama was proclaiming his election was the moment when the seas began to recede and the planet began to heal? Obama has a worse egotistical problem because his massive ego is not supported by any great accomplishment. And no – lying through your teeth to win the POTUS election is not a great achievement. Trump’s accomplishments are obvious and well known. It will also be hard to bash Trump over his wealth considering the MSM’s admiration of Bill and Hillary’s recent accumulation of wealth.

All in all, I think Trump’s entrance into the race will be interesting. He does not have to raise funds or pander to any narrow constituency. He is able to speak his mind freely, and if he offends someone or causes someone to have to go to his or her “safe space”, then I will like him even more. It’s time this country has an adult conversation about who we are, the mess we are in, and what it will take to emerge once again as a country respected and feared by the rest of the world.

Campaign 2016 Open Thread

I am curious as to everyones thoughts on the early stages of the 2016 field which filled out a little more over the last couple of days with the announcements of Hillary and Marco Rubio. The contrast between the roll outs of Hillary’s and Marco’s campaign could not have been more stark. Hillary is stale with the charisma and the charm of a ferret while Marco came off as fresh and invigorated with a vision for the 21st century. I have always liked Marco but need to see him command the stage a little better with a firm grasp of the issues. I think he will grow into that role. I also like Walker and Cruz and it will be fun to watch them develop their campaigns over the next year.

I think the Democrats are in real trouble. The only viable candidate they have is Hillary who does not exactly warm the hearts of many Americans. Aside from Hillary, there is a possibility that O’Malley and Webb might run but I don’t see that happening – I think both of them are probably angling for the VP slot. And then of course you have two full blown communists in Sanders and Warren which shows you just how far left, and how small the Democratic Party has become.

The youth, energy, and the diversity are found in the GOP field. The future belongs to common sense, personally responsible conservatives – and that is a good thing for this country.
