obAMATEUR Expands the Dependent Class AGAIN and Bypasses Congress!

Let’s look at this pResident’s accomplishments:

  • Government takeover of 17% of the economy and your health care.
  • Doubling the number of Americans on food stamps.
  • Spanish soap operas to encourage Hispanics to sign up for food stamps.

And now……

Since the beginning Obama intended to reverse the welfare reforms made by the Republican majority when Clinton was president.  Those reforms freed millions of Americans from their government dependency.  This is not the direction in which Obama wants to travel.

The Obama administration via the Department of Health and Human Services has essentially rewritten the rules established by the welfare reform law of 1996.  The new policy, as per the Obama administration, will no longer require welfare recipients to work in order to maintain their benefits.

(For those who cannot connect the dots)FROM THE MEMO:

Waivers will be granted only for provisions related to section 402.

Of the roughly 35 sections of the TANF law, only one is listed as waiveable under section 1115. This is section 402.

Section 402 describes state plans—reports that state governments must file to HHS describing the actions they will undertake to comply with the many requirements established in the other sections of the TANF law. The authority to waive section 402 provides the option to waive state reporting requirements only, not to overturn the core requirements of the TANF program contained in the other sections of the TANF law.

The new Obama dictate asserts that because the work requirements, established in section 407, are mentioned as an item that state governments must report about in section 402, all the work requirements can be waived. This removes the core of the TANF program; TANF becomes a blank slate that HHS bureaucrats and liberal state bureaucrats can rewrite at will – or mealy mouthed words as “innovation”..

Therefore, states and other bureaucracies can DEFINE WORK as they attempted before but were overridden.

Over the years, the definition of “work” began to deteriorate and in 2005, Congress tried to reign in the definition of what constitutes “work” in order to receive welfare.   Barack Obama, a Senator at that time, was opposed to this effort – no surprise there.

Some of these include:
1.    Bed rest
2.    Personal care activities
3.    Massage
4.    Exercise
5.    Journaling
6.    Motivational reading
7.    Smoking cessation
8.    Weight loss promotion
9.    Participating in parent teacher meetings
10.  Helping a friend or relative with household tasks and errands

These are what casper tried to pass off as “innovation”. How Sec. of HHS can grant waivers to states that have these activities (or whatever else) in their innovative plans (Section 402).

So, when he says “moving in the right direction”, I guess this is it – EXPANDING the dependent class!

Question is, does this pResident have the authority to do this – reverse law WITHOUT CONGRESS!  I mean this has never stopped him before!!

The Heritage Foundation reminds us of the growing list of Obama administration actions that it has taken to circumvent the legislative process.

  • Even though the Democrat-controlled Senate rejected the President’s cap-and-trade plan, his Environmental Protection Agency classified carbon dioxide, the compound that sustains vegetative life, as a pollutant so that it could regulate it under the Clean Air Act.
  • After the Employee Free Choice Act—designed to bolster labor unions’ dwindling membership rolls—was defeated by Congress, the National Labor Relations Board announced a rule that would implement “snap elections” for union representation, limiting employers’ abilities to make their case to workers and virtually guaranteeing a higher rate of unionization at the expense of workplace democracy.
  • After an Internet regulation proposal failed to make it through Congress, the Federal Communications Commission announced that it would regulate the Web anyway, even despite a federal court’s ruling that it had no authority to do so.
  • Although Congress consistently has barred the Department of Education from getting involved in curriculum matters, the Administration has offered waivers for the No Child Left Behind law in exchange for states adopting national education standards, all without congressional authorization.
  • Since it objects to existing federal immigration laws, the Administration has decided to apply those laws selectively and actively prevent the state (like Arizona) from enforcing those laws themselves.
  • Rather than push Congress to repeal federal laws against marijuana use, the Department of Justice (DOJ) simply decided it would no longer enforce those laws.
  • DOJ also has announced that it would stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act or defending it from legal challenge rather than seeking legislative recourse.

These are the actions of a RULER, not a leader. It’s too bad more Americans haven’t focused on the words of Valerie Jarrett – the head of Obama’s transition team – days before his inauguration:  “We will be ready to RULE from day one.”

More Wasted Money For The President’s “Green Energy”

A U.S. Navy oiler slipped away from a fuel depot on the Puget Sound in Washington state one recent day, headed toward the central Pacific and into the storm over the Pentagon’s controversial green fuels initiative.

In its tanks, the USNS Henry J. Kaiser carried nearly 900,000 gallons of biofuel blended with petroleum to power the cruisers, destroyers and fighter jets of what the Navy has taken to calling the “Great Green Fleet,” the first carrier strike group to be powered largely by alternative fuels.

However, the fuel’s $26-a-gallon price, compared to $3.60 for conventional fuel cannot come at a worst time when the U.S. government’s budget remains severely strained, the Pentagon is facing REAL budget cuts and energy companies are finding big quantities of oil and gas in the United States.

Other Green Energy initiatives in the military pushed by this administration:

The Pentagon paid Solazyme Inc $8.5 million in 2009 for 20,055 gallons of biofuel based on algae oil, or $424 a gallon.

For the Great Green Fleet demonstration, the Pentagon paid $12 million for 450,000 gallons of biofuel, nearly $27 a gallon. There were eight bidders for that contract, it said.

The technology is still not yet cost effective, but to hell with the costs (as long as you’re a Democrat).  Politics and giving in to the environmentalist lobby is more important than reliable fuel to our Navy.

 

Uh Oh! The Proggies Won’t Like This: Study Finds Red States More Prosperous Than Blue States!!!

A study has found out something that proggies and unions are not going to like:

Red States Are More Prosperous Than Blue States

Some of the highlights:

GDP in lower taxed Red states grew 20% more than Blue states with higher tax rates.

Population Growth 4x higher

And the low tax rates didn’t exactly break the budgets of the Red states that embraced them either.  Those jurisdictions actually realized substantially larger increases in the growth of state and local tax revenue than did their more confiscatory counterparts.

Tax policy was not the only measure of comparison.  The authors of the study also compared and contrasted the performances of right-to-work states with states where union membership is compulsory. The results (not surprising, but proggies would call it “unexpected”): GDP growth was more than 10 percentage points higher in right-to-work states.

These results have been the trend for some time.  Yet, proggies will continue to deny despite the evidence shown in this study as well as others.  Their ideological beliefs are not the golden goose as they have been touting for some time.

Hmmmmmm….. very interesting claim.

Now for some reality:

ObAMATEUR had his A$$ covered.  If it worked he, of course, would claim credit – which he has.  And predictably, if it failed, the Admiral would have taken the blame.

Hey, obAMATEUR needed some “victory” for his administration, which is the only reason he went for it. Look at his other decisions concerning terrorists and terrorism, uh excuse me “freedom fighters” in their “man-caused disasters”. He fumbled the economy, the recovery and almost everything else.  Now, it comes to light that his so called “gutsy call” was pure unadulterated BS (not to mention it took 18 hours to make the decision in the first place).

The desperation from the White House is getting thick.  But leave it to obAMATEUR to politicize the actions of our brave men and women who carried out the dangerous attack while he sat in a conference room watching the feed. He, then takes full credit and the narrative is written on his “gutsy call” while all along he had his a$$ covered if the raid failed and he played politics with the lives of our soldiers.

Pathetic.

Nothing surprises me anymore……. but as I said before, obAMATEUR has very little positive record to run on.

Government Spending. Does It Really Work as a “Stimulator”?

Listening to obAMATEUR, his fellow looters, the moochers and the mindless drones, you would think that the Stimulus and the rest of the over $5 TRILLION in spending by our so-called “leader” would have had a huge effect on the economy.  They would be touting this into the next term.

Sadly, for the looters, this is not the case.  Private spending is needed for the economy to produce the fruit we have seen from successful administrations like Reagan’s.

We have a study now published in the National Journal of Economic Research from University of California at San Diego economist Valerie Ramey.  Ramey puts the proggies lies about the success of their spending schemes to rest.

According to Ramey: “An increase in government spending never leads to a significant rise in private spending.  In fact, in most cases it leads to a significant fall.”

“A significant fall”…… say it again…..  “A significant fall……”  One true measure of the proggy belief have been the headlines concerning the economy and job growth – “an UNEXPECTED FALL in economic grown” or “an UNEXPECTED RISE in unemployment claims”, etc etc.

We already know that obAMATEUR believes that the United States is great and successful because of “government investment” code for “spending”.  Ramey also finds that government spending increases government employment .. but not private employment.

That’s it liberals keep charging on your “Bank of China” credit card and kick the can down the road to our children and grand-children.  ObAMATEUR used those words as senator when criticizing President Bush.  But those words are no longer part of his rhetoric (or any other proggy’s for that matter) while he is the one in charge.  Come November, those words will make another appearance when the proggies no longer control the White House.

UPDATE:

The budget proposed by the obAMATEUR 2012 will result in a DEFICIT of $26 trillion dollars by 2022.   If you were to spend $1,000 per minute, it would take you about 49,000 YEARS to spend $26 trillion dollars.  The obAMATEUR will do it in ONLY 10 years! What an accomplishment! – any you proggy drones whine I cannot compliment your pResident.

That’s the debt your children and grandchildren are going to have to pay.  Here is another compliment – He sure spends other people’s money very rapidly.

We can’t afford another four years of this bozo and his fellow looters.  BTW,  I am sure this budget will be UNANIMOUSLY defeated like his others.  But he will blame only the non-proggies and his loyal drones will regurgitate the dumbed down talking point.

A Real Leader Gives Credit and Takes Responsibility While obAMATEUR Takes Credit and Shirks Responsibility.

What makes a leader?

Does this pResident have the abilities to be a leader?

This was the President that had “to descend his throne to become President” was going to “heal the planet”, “stop the rising oceans”, “improve relations with other nations”, “fix the economy”, “pay down the debt”, “balance the budget” etc. etc.  His failures just keep piling up.  But to listen to him, it is someone or something else’s fault – the tsunami, the Arab Spring, flooding, the evil Republicans, Big Oil, the Chinese and on and on and on…..

While, of course, our resident leftist, mindless drones would say “YES! HE IS A LEADER”.  His actions and record say otherwise.

Have at it! (It seems our resident leftist drones cannot comment on the more cerebral topics.  That is a little harsh…They cannot defend the indefensible.  Here is somewhat of an open topic for them to repeat their talking points.)

 

obAMATEUR Was For Oil “Subsidies” Before He Was Against It

Never mind that obAMATEUR LIES about “subsidies” – “But on top of these record profits, oil companies are also getting billions a year — billions a year in taxpayer subsidies “.  There are no tax payer “subsidies” to the oil companies.  These are legitimate TAX DEDUCTIONS that any manufacturer can take from the taxes they pay.

Never mind that oil companies “profits that go up every time folks pull up into a gas station.” is another half truth.  Oil companies profits are a result of other non-fuel related products as well.  Never mind that obAMATEUR does not differentiate between GROSS PROFITS, NET PROFITS or PROFIT MARGINS.  Never mind that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT makes more in taxes on a gallon of gas than the oil company does in profit.  Never mind that oil companies pays billions in taxes to the federal government.

Never mind that ACTUAL DIRECT SUBSIDIES to “green energy” companies have been a waste of money and he wants to “double down” on these same failed activities – “we should be using that money to double-down on investments in clean energy technologies that have never been more promising — investments in wind power and solar power and biofuels;”  Yeah, like Solyndra and other failed green companies that received direct tax payer subsidies and failed while the executives received bonuses.

Never mind, that these green energy “developments” will take the same amount of or more time to develop than to drill a new field.  Once developed, these new energy sources will have to have an infrastructure to put in place to distribute it across the country.  More than likely, these new sources may not be a direct fuel replacement for existing cars, trucks, aircraft, trains etc. etc. These green energies are not a direct replacement and drilling must continue until these sources become more economical or viable.

But why quibble about details? For obAMATEUR, the lies makes good politics during an election year for his mindless dumbed down drones.

This had to go at the top…..

What is really sad it that African-American teens are murdered every day in the inner city for stupid reasons (they are unarmed, outside playing, walking home with candy and drinks, murdered for their shoes or jackets, etc. etc.), but only ONE alleged murder get the national attention from politicians, activists, liberal media and proggy bloggers. 

Maybe, because the shooter is “white”.  They are not interested in black on black crime. …… If they put the energy into other murders they do on this one maybe they can curb some of the inner city crime and murders.  There should be rallies every day for the murders that take place across the country EVERY DAY!

It is truly pathetic.

Now have at it.

But, today marks one of the most remarkable statistics to come out of Washington in a long time: Today, Tuesday, March 20 2012 marks the 1,056th day since Congress passed a yearly budget for the federal government.

The fault does not lie with Congress as a whole. The President has failed to lead. Senate Republicans have tried to do the same. But after passing a budget resolution in 2009, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has refused to allow passage of a new budget in 2010, 2011, and, it appears, 2012 as well.  He has refused to allow Republican budgets to the floor for debate.

“We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year,” Reid told reporters last month, arguing that legislation setting limits on spending is sufficient.  Of course we know that a budget loaded with deficit spending is not a good tactic in an election year.

“The fact is, you don’t need a budget,” agreed fellow Democrat and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer a few weeks ago. “We can adopt appropriations bills. We can adopt authorization policies without a budget. We already have an agreed-upon cap on spending.”

In fact, the lawmakers are REQUIRED BY LAW to pass a budget each year. That’s made clear by the Congressional Budget Act of 1974. But why let the rule of law get in the way.  Just like that pesky Constitution, the law does not allow Democrats to do what they want, because they feel we are too stupid to take care of ourselves.

At the time, Bush’s debt accumulation was $4.89 trillion for EIGHT years.  This according to the obAMATEUR was “unpatriotic”.   And of course, his fellow Democrats and media minions parroted these talking points, ad nauseum.

The CBO came our a few days ago stating that its cost will be DOUBLE what was originally estimated by the White House.

The country’s financial state is in dire straits.  The rising deficits and more debt accumulation than any president in history are the reasons Democrats don’t want to pass a budget during an election year.  This action will bring the country’s financial state into the limelight front and center and the pResident will have to answer for it, guaranteeing certain doom for his election chances.

As I said before, the LAW requires Congress to pass a budget.  All the budgets are being held up by Harry Reid in the Senate.  Democrats trash the law and the Constitution to save this poor excuse of a pResident.
